Paris attacks prime suspect Salah Abdeslam had documents about a nuclear research base in his Brussels flat, according to reports.

German newspaper reports - citing high-level political sources - say he had printed out information about the Juelich research centre.

It is claimed that Hans-Georg Maassen, the head of Germany's domestic intelligence agency, informed a confidential parliamentary panel.

Printouts of articles about Juelich from the internet, along with photos of its chairman Wolfgang Marquardt, were reportedly found at the Molenbeek address.

A spokesman for Juelich said there was no indication that the centre was compromised or in danger at any point, and said bosses had been in touch with the security authorities and nuclear regulators.

Abdeslam, 26, was captured in Brussels in March, four months after November's terror in the French capital that left 130 people dead.

Days later more than 30 people were killed and 270 injured in suicide bomb attacks at Zaventem Airport and Maalbeek station.

It has been suggested the Brussels attacks had been due to be carried out over Easter but were brought forward in case Abdeslam revealed details following his arrest.

But the chief suspect in the Paris attacks has claimed he "didn't know" about the Brussels terror plot, according to his lawyer.
