raumdeuter: Why do you think of all the coaching heads today, all the tacticos today, all the top coaches now they dont even use 442 anymore, even this Carlo Ancelotti stopped using 2 strikers and was using a lone striker system until he left Europe
People shoehone players into their system and if they dont fit they get bundled out. That was why players like James Rodriguez who would have been a perfect 10 in the days of 442 could not survive Everyone follows trends in football, they are just copy cats There was a time people said 343 could never survive in England, then Antonio Conte came to Chelsea and won the Premier League in his first season with it, and suddenly many teams copied it. If a coach comes to England tomorrow or goes to Spain and uses 442, and he dominates the leagues like for five straight seasons in England or Spain or italy, watch how fast “tacticos” will call it genius and start switching again. Formations go in cycles, they are not dead, they just fall out of fashion. Plenty of teams using 433 or 4231 are not winning leagues either, where are the leagus titles for Newcastle, where are leagues title for Burnley , what of Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Las Palmas, Athletic Bilbao, or Sevilla or Fiorentina etc etc? Are they using 442 too? If they are using the best formation why are they not winning the league? They use modern systems too, yet trophies are not guaranteed. So clearly the formation alone is not the magic answer. Even top coaches like Carlo Ancelotti adapt to the players they have, it’s not about abandoning 442 because it’s “outdated,” it’s about maximizing the squad. The real bottom line is still the same, as I have said before, if you have the right players in key positions, proper balance, and a coach who understands how to organize them, 442 will win at the highest level and will dominate the world. |

raumdeuter: 442 tactic cannot match 433 which many teams play today because with 2 strikers will be upfront but would be outnumbered in the middle so much that Inzaghi and Shevckenko would be Isolated. Inzaghi for example being a poacher wont be able to handle the ball well outside the box
Football is in the brain but it needs to be tailored which is why you need a good coach to harness your skill to be productive
We can also say its the same AC Milan that got smashed 4-0 by Deportivo and Walter Pandiani in 2004
Its the loopholes and lapses of the old times that the new coaches adapt to to make improvements
Even by the time AC Milan with 2 strikers (Crespo and Shevchenko) lost Liverpool in 2005, they ditched 442 and went with one striker(Inzaghi) in 2007 which they won by solidifying the midfield I beg to disagree sir, Saying 442 can’t match 433 is too simple because football isn’t just about numbers, it’s about how the team moves and works together. Under Carlo Ancelotti, AC Milan showed that a well organized 442 can control games, even against teams with three midfielders. Those losses in 2004 and 2005 were more about mistakes and poor game management, not because the formation was bad. If you have the right players in every position and a good coach to set them up properly, a solid 442 system can compete with any team in the world, and no team will stop them The bottom line is having the right players in the system. |

Raumdeuter, congratulations on winning your 34th Bundesliga title in February. As a curious fan, I honestly wonder, after so many league triumphs, does lifting this trophy still bring the same excitement and joy each year?
No shade at all, just genuinely wondering what that feels like from the inside after dominating for so long. I will love to hear your take!
Because you really can’t compare it to the kind of joy Arsenal fans would show if they shoukd win the EPL this year. 🤣 |

Beat PSG now and you duly earn the glory of the title you won.. Sometimes your takes dey amuse me. Let me help you rephrase your point. We all know your EPL titles you won last year was a fluke, Liverpool winning the league was due to the state of the remaining EPL teams.
