FamilyThrowback: A Kenyan Patient Misdiagnosed Via X-ray With A Live Cockroach. by Morbeta11(op): 4:54pm On Dec 01, 2025
In a Kenya government hospital, a patient was x-rayed and was told that there was a live cockroach in his chest. "You will have to go to Singapore for treatment."

The patient went to Singapore and was told that the cockroach is not in his chest but inside the x-ray machine.

The post recounts a viral anecdote of a Kenyan patient misdiagnosed via X-ray with a live cockroach in his chest, only for Singapore doctors to reveal it was inside the imaging machine, accompanied by a circled X-ray image highlighting the anomaly.

This tale is a recycled hoax from 2012, featuring a digitally altered X-ray; fact-checks by AFP and Africa Check trace its spread across Africa and Asia with varying countries, debunking it as fabricated for shock value.

Thread replies blend humour over potential lawsuits and costs with doubts on the story's authenticity, reflecting persistent online circulation of medical misinformation despite evident scale inconsistencies in the image.

Nigerian Government Organizes Training for 50 Lawmakers on U.S. Negotiation Amid Rising Insecurity

The Nigerian Ministry of Finance has invited 50 lawmakers to a two-day “High-Level Policy Training on American Foreign Policy Under the Donald Trump Administration.”

Addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and signed by Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the circular has sparked public outrage, with critics questioning why lawmakers are being trained on international negotiation instead of tackling worsening insecurity.

Dated November 17, 2025 (Ref: FMF/HMS/CORRS/01/VOL.1/112), the training at the National Assembly Complex is scheduled for November 21–22. It aims to help lawmakers understand U.S. foreign policy under Trump, engage with Congress members, and grasp the operational culture of the American legislative system.

The ministry asked the Senate President to confirm attendance and submit nominations for final logistics. The announcement comes as Nigeria faces terror attacks on schools and religious sites nationwide.

The SGF, George Akume, linked the surge in violent activity to Trump’s October 31 remarks labeling Nigeria a “country of particular concern” and threatening possible U.S. military action.

He said extremist groups, previously weakened, are now using these statements to justify attacks. Akume stressed that Nigeria does not need foreign troops, citing the Armed Forces’ successes against Boko Haram and ISWAP, but called for targeted support in intelligence, technology, and equipment.

Despite this, ongoing attacks in the North-East, Kaduna, Kwara, and Kogi expose the persistent insecurity and raise doubts about the Tinubu administration’s capacity to address the crisis.

PoliticsDefence Minister Matawalle Maintains Contact With Bandit Leaders by Morbeta11(op): 6:33am On Nov 20, 2025
EXCLUSIVE: How Tinubu’s Defence Minister Matawalle Maintains Contact With Bandit Leaders, Ordered Them To Compel Communities To Vote For APC — Former Aide

The whistleblower, whose identity SaharaReporters is withholding for security reasons, spoke in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, detailing a sprawling web of political, financial, and operational links between Matawalle and terror kingpins in Zamfara State.

A former senior aide to Nigeria’s Defence Minister and former Zamfara governor, Bello Matawalle, has accused him of continuing to maintain direct contact with notorious terrorist commanders whom he allegedly funded, equipped, and politically mobilised during his time as governor.

The "mobilisation" had included providing “36 brand new Hilux vehicles” and buying stolen livestock from bandit groups.

The whistleblower, whose identity SaharaReporters is withholding for security reasons, spoke in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, detailing a sprawling web of political, financial, and operational links between Matawalle and terror kingpins in Zamfara State.

The former aide revealed that these connections have continued even after Matawalle became President Bola Tinubu’s Minister of Defence.

According to the source: “I was appointed as SA to the Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Matawalle. My village is among the areas affected by banditry activities. So, my role as SA gave me the opportunity to meditate between the government and bandits.”

His role, he said, exposed him to the inner dealings between the Matawalle administration and terror leaders.

“These appointments gave me the chance to know many of these terrorists and their activities,” he said.

He alleged that Matawalle now wants to silence him “because I knew all the atrocities he carried out with bandits during his tenure as Governor.”

Buying Stolen Cows Directly From Bandits

The former aide claimed the governor routinely purchased rustled cattle from terrorists at discounted prices, especially during festive seasons.

He said bandit leaders complained that when they took stolen animals to the market, owners often identified them, prompting Matawalle to buy directly.

“He uses to buy rustled animals from bandit with cheaper rate during sallah festive season… he decided to buy directly from them. And he bought them at flat rate… N150,000 each.”

He alleged that Matawalle regularly invited bandit commanders into Government House despite their involvement in killings, kidnappings, and mass displacement.

“He used to invite bandits to the Government House Zamfara during his tenure and discussed even political issues with them and how they would compel the communities to vote for him for the second tenure.”

36 Hilux Vehicles For Terrorist Leaders

One of the most explosive allegations is that the former governor procured dozens of government vehicles for leaders of terror groups.

“He bought 36 brand new Hilux vehicle to the bandits leaders in Zamfara State including Kachallah Turji and late Halilu Sububu among others.”

According to him, the people of Shinkafi were aware of these dealings:

“Even the people of Shinkafi Zamfara State they are aware.”

Continued Contact As Defence Minister

The source said Matawalle’s relationship with terror leaders has continued even after joining Tinubu’s cabinet.

“After he left the office as governor and his appointment as minister of defence, it is suprise that he is chatting these people. They always contact him for help.”

He specifically named one notorious commander: “There was one Bello Tugoje… they use to communicate through Whatsapp. The same guy is very close to the minister. And he was in Zamfara State payroll during his tenure as governor.”

He added that Matawalle still communicates with notorious terror kingpins: “He also communicates with Bello Turji and Kachallah Haru Dole via Whatsapp.”

Election Influence And 2027 Plans

The former aide claimed the minister maintains the relationships for political leverage.

“Those of us that are close to him, we are suprised why would a minister be doing this but it is clear why he is holding them.”

He alleged that Matawalle used bandit groups to secure votes in 2023 and intends to do so again in 2027.

“Because they are still using them during political periods and 2027 election is coming.”

He added that many terrorists voted for the ruling APC on Matawalle’s orders: “Many of these terrorists voted for APC in 2023 because the minister was the governor and he told them to vote for APC and Tinubu also won them, because of their votes.”

SaharaReporters days ago reported that Matawalle claimed that most bandit leaders and their foot soldiers had been neutralised, adding that "what remains now are a few scattered elements."

He had added that President Bola Tinubu has directed troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to eliminate the remaining bandit elements in the North-West.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that no fewer than 25 students were abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, early Monday morning.

The attack, carried out by heavily armed bandits, left one staff member dead and another injured, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi.

The incident reportedly occurred around 4am when the assailants stormed the school and engaged police officers on duty in a fierce gun battle.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State Matawalle during a visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters, conveyed Tinubu’s appreciation for the troops’ patriotism, courage, and “remarkable successes in decimating bandit formations across the Northwest.”

He told the soldiers: “Mr. President specifically asked me to tell you that you have done exceedingly well.

“Most of the key bandit leaders and their foot soldiers have been neutralised through your gallant effort. What remains now are a few scattered elements, and the Commander-in-Chief has directed that these remnants must be wiped out completely.

“He assures you of every necessary support — logistics, equipment, welfare, and morale — to finish the job,” he said.

Matawalle was received by the Theatre Commander, Major-General Warrah Bello Idris, who briefed him on recent operational achievements, including the neutralisation of high-value targets and the recovery of communities previously under bandit control.

Things Must Not Fall Apart : By Major (Rtd.) Yinka Ogunsanya
Defense and Insurgency Expert | U.S. Army Veteran with Operational Experience in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Southeast Asia

When my vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) during my final tour in Afghanistan, I walked away largely unharmed. But as the dust settled, one haunting thought filled my heart — what if this had been my homeland, Nigeria? That single question shook me more deeply than the explosion itself. I had seen firsthand what insurgency and extremism could do to nations that failed to act decisively.

Now, years later, we are coming full circle. Brother Dona and his followers openly threaten to unleash terror on Nigerian soil. Most Nigerians have never witnessed the devastating power of modern weapons — but I have. There is nothing noble, clean, or surgical about today’s warfare. The myth of “precision munitions” is comforting but false. Not all American weapons are precision-guided; many come from old stockpiles that must be expended. I’ve seen the aftermath of those so-called “proximity kills” — the shattered homes, the wounded civilians, the poisoned soil.

The human cost of modern warfare is staggering. In the post-9/11 wars across Iraq and Afghanistan, civilian deaths alone number in the hundreds of thousands.
According to the Costs of War Project at Brown University, over 940,000 people have died from direct violence across U.S. war zones since 2001 — including more than 432,000 civilians. In Iraq alone, an estimated 184,000 to 207,000 civilians were killed directly by war-related violence. In Afghanistan, the figure stands at over 70,000 civilian deaths, with total deaths exceeding 243,000 when combatants are included. Indirect war-related deaths — from destroyed infrastructure, disease, and displacement — bring the total toll to between 4.5 and 4.7 million lives lost.

These are not just statistics; they are a grim testimony to what happens when nations descend into chaos. If such weapons were ever to be used in Nigeria — an overpopulated nation with fragile infrastructure and weak public health systems — the consequences would be catastrophic.

Consider the case of depleted uranium (DU) munitions. Used extensively in Iraq, these weapons remain active in the environment long after the fighting ends. The radioactive dust they leave behind contaminates soil, water, and air — causing long-term respiratory illnesses, kidney damage, birth defects, and cancers. I have walked through villages in Iraq where children play near burnt-out vehicles laced with uranium residue, and hospitals where doctors struggle to explain the alarming surge in leukemia and congenital deformities years after the war ended.

Now imagine that happening in Maiduguri, Kano, or Kaduna — cities already burdened by overpopulation, poverty, and displacement. A single misstep in how Nigeria confronts insurgency could expose millions to environmental and health crises that would last generations. We cannot afford to import the same mistakes that turned parts of the Middle East into wastelands.

This is why Nigeria must draw a hard and uncompromising line. We cannot afford to negotiate with terrorists, absorb them into our security forces, or allow our northern borders to remain open conduits for weapons and fighters. Weakness invites aggression, and appeasement only feeds the monster. Our national security doctrine must rest on three non-negotiables: no negotiations with terrorists, no assimilation of insurgents into our ranks, and no hesitation in defending our borders.

If we allow our country to fall into chaos, it won’t just be the gunfire that destroys us — it will be the poisoned soil beneath our feet, the contaminated water in our wells, and the silent legacy of a war we refused to confront when it was still containable.

Nigeria must not fall apart.

The post features a satirical meme overlaying text on a sepia-toned portrait of a Black woman in Victorian attire, humorously claiming she is "the first woman to accuse a billionaire for being a gold digger," alluding to Nigerian actress Regina Daniels' recent fallout with her husband, billionaire Senator Ned Nwoko.

This references Nwoko's November 8, 2025, X thread detailing marital issues, including his financial support of Daniels' family (over ₦125 million in two years) and her alleged substance addiction enabled by relatives, which Daniels countered by labeling him a gold digger in a role reversal of common tropes.

The post's query "Who did this??" highlights appreciation for the meme's clever edit, fueling 144 replies with similar ironic humor and memes, reflecting broader Nigerian online discourse on celebrity wealth dynamics and gender expectations in relationships.

Prison Break: Nigerian Kidnap Convict Escapes UK Prison, Sparks Major Police Manhunt

A Nigerian man, Ola Abimbola, convicted of kidnapping and serving a 21-year sentence, has escaped from an open prison in Sussex, United Kingdom, sparking a widespread police search.

The 36-year-old, jailed for conspiracy to k+dnap, grievous bodily harm, blackmail, and false imprisonment, reportedly walked out of HMP Ford around 8 a.m. on October 10 — barely a month after being transferred there.

He has been missing ever since. Abimbola’s transfer to the open prison, also known as a Category D facility, was made under new Labour government rules aimed at easing overcrowding in higher-security prisons.

The relaxed policy allows inmates to move to open conditions earlier in their sentences, even if they are not yet close to release. Under the old system, Abimbola would not have qualified for transfer for another six years.

Open prisons have minimal security and are meant to help low-risk prisoners reintegrate into society a move that has now come under scrutiny following his disappearance.

Sussex Police have launched a manhunt, urging the public not to approach the fugitive and to report any information by calling 999. Authorities admit that efforts to track him down have so far been unsuccessful.

The escape has intensified political pressure on Justice Secretary David Lammy, already facing criticism after the mistaken release of two foreign sex offenders and a British fraudster. Opposition figures say the justice system is “in chaos,” blaming government policy changes for endangering the public.

Mark Drury of the Prison Governors’ Association said the rise in absconders from open prisons shows a troubling trend, noting that many prisoners now housed in such facilities “would not have been considered suitable two or three years ago.”

In response, the Ministry of Justice defended the system, insisting that all transfers follow “strict risk assessments” and that any offender breaching the rules can be “immediately returned to closed conditions.”

Regina Daniels’ brother, Sweezzy, fires back at Senator Ned Nwoko — denies receiving $75k, accuses him of manip¥lation and lying about their family, and challenges him to post proof of payment

The post captures Sweezzy's Instagram rebuttal to Ned Nwoko's claim of gifting him $75,000, denying the payment outright and demanding transaction receipts, while highlighting his self-made successes like building three houses and importing cars to counter portrayals of dependency.

Sweezzy accuses Nwoko of manipulation by involving media to silence the family and dragging innocents like brother Sammy—framed as a drug supplier despite leading Nwoko's youth campaign—into baseless charges, tying this to broader allegations of domestic violence against Regina.

This exchange escalates a week-long feud where the Daniels family alleges Nwoko orchestrated Sammy's arrest to force Regina's marital return, after rejecting repeated bride price refunds, amid unverified claims of pitting his six wives against each other for control.

Stop using the drugs narrative to create distractions — Actress Regina Daniels replies her estranged husband Sen Ned Nwoko after he accused her family members of aiding her battle with drug addiction

Regina Daniels admits past drug use in her response but accuses Senator Ned Nwoko of weaponizing the narrative to deflect from serious allegations, including forced intimacy, unlawful confinement, and non-consensual bipolar injections, while claiming their union lacks legal marriage documents.

The post stems from an October 2025 viral video where Daniels tearfully described feeling powerless in the marriage, sparking Nwoko's counter-claims of her addiction and family involvement, amid reports of her relocating and breakup rumors.

Public discourse in replies polarizes between viewing Daniels' admission as self-sabotaging and Nwoko's actions as manipulative, with calls for authorities like Nigeria's NDLEA and police to probe both drug and abuse claims for accountability.
