Oh lovely. U just changed my view about American ladies esp the blacks. I have this mind set most of you possess bad character.

I'm glad that I could do that! I would expect you to have your stereotypes due to not knowing or being exposed, as we all do with other cultures. Everyone makes bad decisions. It is only the levels that are different! Haha However, there are the "creams of the crop" in our country, as there are everywhere.

Really... I thought the American ladies hurry or rather marry early compare to the Africans?

I can't speak for all of us as a nation, but I do know the women that are close to me and I consider friends and collegues are more focused on their careers and making their own living tend to hold off on relationships/marriage.

Your post is true for woman who are in a hurry to be in either situation. I am here speaking on behalf of black American women who are college-educated. We are not in a rush to be married, no matter who is doing it. We would rather focus on our education and careers first and only then, will we begin to find husbands. This type of woman wants to be able to take care of herself, with or without a man. It doesn't matter if we are almost 30 years old. We would rather do it because we genuinely love the person and/or have our lives together first. Once again, I am speaking for black women who are college-educated and want good things in life.

P.S. In no way, shape, or form am I comparing our lives to that of the Nigerian woman since I will never be her or walk in her shoes to understand her reasons behind her actions. I am only here to educate and give everyone a look into our world, good or bad! cheesy

i wonder what you women see in artificial hair, i love women who are natural and fit though.

I agree with you 100%! I am guilty of wearing hair extensions, but only for braids (as featured in my profile picture) and it ALWAYS mirror my African heritage of OUR natural texture! I love the skin that I am in and will NEVER pay for hair that will NEVER look like the hair that grows from my own roots.

P.S. I workout 5 times a week.

Everything that you have already stated sounds good enough. You may also state that you will repay him as soon as you can? I hope that he helps you out for this since it is important and involves your degree. Good luck to you!

This post was very informative! I am sure it is better than the man-made forms of contraception. I have experienced, at least once, every side effect, whether it was the shot or the pill. A healthy alternative is definitely better!

I never knew am a product of a broken union

Not that I am proud of my parents actions of conceiving me out of wedlock, but I am a product of a broken union. I do not approve of this, but as an adult, I understand that people make mistakes and in the process, they can be cursed or blessed. Either way, I would like to think of a child being born as a blessing because the gift of life comes our God himself! grin However, this didn't change that fact that both of my parents loved me dearly. It also didn't stop me from pursuing my dreams or my outlook on them as my parents. Your case may be a little different due to your mother not being there, and I may not be right completely, but am almost 90% positive that your mother will be happy to see you. You stated that you are a college graduate and that is not an easy accomplishment in general, no matter what country a person is from and I can speak for that! She will be proud! Good luck on your first visit!

@morethanadoll, Thank you very much... How is America today?[/quote]

If you are meaning the weather, where I am, it is cloudy, warm, and humid (70 degrees Fahrenheit). There is no mass chaos happening and I woke up this morning, so I am grateful to God to be able to say that today is a great day here! wink How's your day in your country? Have you found a tutor yet?

That is why I said to go ahead and grieve and then have a sit down and talk about it with your father.
Literature / Re: I Want To Learn Yoruba Language by morethanadoll(f): 11:54pm On Mar 03, 2015
The language is very beautiful! A Nigerian from Lagos attended the same university as me in America. He taught me enough words and phrases and now, we can have a mini conversation with one another! Good luck to you and I hope that you can find someone who teaches you for very cheap or you are blessed, just as I was, and won't have to pay a cent (or naira).

I would tell her that it isn't worth her spending her entire savings over. He is the supposed to be the man; therefore, she shouldn't have to jump through hoops to make the visit happen. If he really wants her, then he'll find or make his way to her. His reasons don't seem legit and he is probably in that country illegally on an expired visa.

guys a friend of mine is so sad right now cos his dad made him believe that his a pure Yoruba guy only to realized that his mom is actually a Fulani woman from zaira...his dad made him believe his mother died some years back.guys I don't know what to type again am the guy pls help me.I can't stay with my dad tonight am ...#tears#
My advice to you is to grieve because that is the first step to accepting the news. You should then forgive your father from keeping the truth from you. I am not sure how it works in your culture, but you should try to talk to your father to gain some clarity on the situation. Why did he keep the truth from you? Maybe something happened and he was only trying to protect you? Either way, the Lord's word is to honor thy mother and father. I wish you the very best and I hope that you feel better. This, too, shall and WILL pass!

LMAO.... You live in Nigeria and you have the nerve to call America or any other country on this planet dysfunctional, aren't you the pot calling the kettle black.

Someone give this girl a round of applause! If there was an award to be given from the Most Dysfunctional Country on the Planet, Nigeria would definitely be high on the list of countries in the category.

you need to accept that America is a dysfunctional society, and blacks have been perpetually dammed to the bottom of the food chain.
This is stated by a person that has no clue that even though America may be "dysfunctional" that even the "blacks" at "the bottom of the food chain" are not starving. I'd like to consider the society pretty damn functional as I can see!
P.S. This is all stated from a black woman who has a college degree and is currently pursuing another and that is FAR from the bottom of anything.
