FamilyFive Tips To Succeed As A Work At Home Mother by moreviewblog(op): 7:17pm On Sep 25, 2016
As the saying goes, ‘change is the only constant thing in life’. It is inevitable because it brings about growth and new discovery.

Marriage has a way of changing most of the things one has planned for due to different factors coming in e.g. relocation, child bearing, etc. Women in most cases are the ones affected when these changes occur.

Some ladies after marriage find themselves staying at home a little longer than expected due to relocation to a different place entirely or due to child birth.

Trust me staying at home can be quite boring, so one just have to get something doing while waiting for the dream job. Who knows, that thing you find doing may finally become your dream job.

Here are some tips to help you turn into a successful career woman while working from home.

Have realistic schedule

A schedule is an arrangement of events to take place at a particular time and day. Carefully structure your day to avoid distraction so as to enable productivity. Write a realistic list of what you intend to do during your working hours at home.

I emphasized on realistic schedule because most time we set unrealistic to do list and end up not achieving anything at all. So therefore have a realistic schedule and follow it.

Get your baby on a schedule

By now, I guess you should be familiar with how your baby schedule is e.g. when the baby sleeps, when the baby wakes up to eat, etc. An idea of all these, will enable you to successfully set a time table in line with your child’s schedule. Also if the baby is up to age you can as well allow the baby to start crèche to enable you concentrate and get a lot done during his/her absence.

Have a break in between

Always take a break in between your work time. It will enable it look like you are actually working in an organised and structured environment because working in an office always have a break time. Also it will allow you to go refresh your brain and prevent you from getting tired.

Taking a break from work will also help you to concentrate better when you return to your desk.

Stay away from distractions

Working from home can be very challenging when it comes to avoiding the distractions that are present due to the comfort that the home presents. In order to stay focused and to achieve a lot try to stay away from television and your phone. Do yourself a favor by avoiding theses items.

You could include draw up a timetable for when to watch TV, answer emails, and make phone calls that are not urgent.

Try to be flexible with your time

In as much you are a mother there are times your schedule won’t work as perfectly has you have initially planned it. So you have to be flexible and accept it. Also your schedule should be adjusted from time to time.

If after applying all of the tips above you still feel overwhelmed, then you should start thinking of outsourcing some of your to-dos. Outsourcing would give you ample time to have good rests and still beat deadlines.

On a final note, stay positive and expect the best from the work you are doing from home. Positive mindset shows in the effort you input in the work.

FamilyFive Shopping Tips For Your Kid’s School Resumption by moreviewblog(op): 3:32am On Sep 25, 2016
As the summer holiday comes to an end, it is time for parents to shop for back-to-school items.

New writing materials, new school shoes, backpacks, lunch boxes and other supplies can pique children’s interest about the new academic year.

Conversely, parents may be dismayed at the cost of these items. Thus, the following tips can help you to spend less while shopping for quality school items.

Shop your house
You may have some back-to-school items in your house. Check for unused notebooks, pen, pencils, crayons, and other materials needed in school. Clothing, shoes, backpacks and electronics that are still in good shape can still be used.

An inventory of such items will help you to determine the ones you need to purchase. Thus, you will spend less than if you are buying all the required items.

Also, you can organize swapping of some supplies with friends whose children are in the same school as yours.

Have a back-to-school list
It is likely that you might have received a list of items required for the new term, from your children’s school. To avoid wasting money on items that are not required, parents should use the back-to-school list as a guide while shopping.

Also, do not purchase extra items as your children may not use them. Using a list and checking off purchased items will help you to keep to budget while shopping. However, it is ideal to shop for school items before the new term begins.

Purchase the items at once
It is ideal to buy all the required items at once, as it will save your time and perhaps transport fare. Also, you may get a discount if you buy much material at a time.

You can check online for discount promo sales or clearance sales so as to get the lowest prices of these items. Thus, you can spend less if you are able to get the best prices for the supplies.

Ignore some of your children’s want
It is ideal to involve your children when you are shopping for their supplies. However, they tend to want trendy items, even when new ones have been bought for them.

Imagine a kid who has a new backpack requesting for a different design of backpack just because his friends has such design. Thus, parents should remind their children to keep to the budget and teach them the difference between wants and needs.

Avoid purchasing the items on credit
It is not ideal to shop for items on credit as you may incur higher interest charges. Instead, you can shop with cash or a debit card to avoid paying extra interest costs for the purchase of the items.

It is wise to purchase all required supplies before the term begins as these items will be more expensive immediately school resumes.

HealthDo You Want To Lose Weight? These Foods Are The Best For You. by moreviewblog(op): 10:16am On Sep 24, 2016
Food relatively influences hunger, hormone generation and calorie burn-down in the human body. This is why some foods are better for weightloss than others, according to science.

For people trying to lose weight, it is a good idea to stick to foods that are weightloss friendly.

Based on their overall effects in the human body, here are top weightloss friendly foods that you should know:

Whole eggs

Egg has almost all the nutrients that the body needs in its yolk. It is very high in protein and can make one feel full without eating large amount of calories.

Kris Gunnars, a nutrition researcher, writes in his post ‘The 20 most weight loss friendly foods on the planet’ on AuthorityNutrition.com that, an ‘8 week study found that eggs for breakfast increased weightloss on a calorie restricted diet.’

Tuna

Tuna fish is a lean fish, meaning it is fish with low fat. It is a low calorie and high protein food.

‘If you’re trying to emphasize protein intake, then make sure to choose tuna canned in water, but not oil,’ Gunnars advises.

Cruciferous vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables are vegetables that are members of the family Cruciferae. These are the gabbage and broccoli family. Apart from being high in fiber, this class of vegetables also contain some amount of protein.

They also contain cancer fighting substances, Gunnars noted.

Soups

Foods with lots of water often have low energy density and they make people feel full without eating too many calories.

‘Some studies have shown that eating the exact same food, except made in a soup instead of as solid food, makes people feel more satiated and eat significantly fewer calories,’ according to Gunnars.

Beans and other legumes

Legumes like beans, lentils, kidney beans, black beans and some others, are highly useful for weightloss. These foods are high in fiber and protein, two nutrients that have been linked to satiety.

But Gunnars warns that ‘the main problem is that a lot of people have problem tolerating legumes. For this reason, it is important to prepare them properly.’

Boiled potatoes

White potatoes score high on satiety index, the scale that measures how filling foods are. On top of that, they contain a large variety of nutrients, a ‘little bit of almost everything’ the body needs.

‘They are particularly high in potassium, a nutrient that most people don’t get enough of and plays an important role in blood pressure control,’ Gunnars mentioned.

Other root vegetables like sweet potatoes are also excellent.

Nuts

Nuts are great snacks. They have a balanced store of nutrients. They contain fiber, protein and healthy fats.

Nuts are high in fats, but are not fattening. However, they are high in calories, so it would be wise to not eat too much of them.

Gunnars writes that, ‘Population studies have also shown that people who eat nuts tend to be healthier, and leaner, than the people who don’t.’

These foods should help you achieve weightloss without having to stay hungry or keep a strict eating timetable.

This list could be useful for your next shopping, you can find it here anytime.

FashionStepping Out With Gele Headgear by moreviewblog(op): 1:19pm On Aug 12, 2016
Gele is the head covering for a typical African woman, though in most quarters, it is said to have originated from the Yorubas. By and large, I see it as what makes an African woman stand out in the world of fashion.

The Slogan “Choose your style and live it” makes fashion world worthwhile. Because we have come to appreciate our styles over time and then moved forward in adding colors and spices to our native culture. The world of gele head gear is not an exception, it has really evolved from what we were used to.

Before now we had gele in brocade, African print, silk, paper-like and even in pattern materials. Gele materials and styles are now advanced, it is are no longer just a head gear but a piece to complement one’s African fashion sense.

The gele fashion hub has been recreated with more aesthetic designs and styles with vibrant colors. We now have gele that are hand beaded and woven into sequence, those with scalloped edges, embroidered gele with matching outfit, not forgetting the Swarovski encrusted ones. Yes! all for our delight.

HealthWhat Is The Best Way To Lose Weight? by moreviewblog(op): 12:27pm On Aug 10, 2016
This is the question that we women ask ourselves at that stage of our life when we have tried various weightloss programmes without visible result. We then begin to wonder if all the approaches we have been taking are actually the right ones for us.

The truth is that, there is no band wagon method when it comes to losing weight. The best thing that you can do for yourself is to start small and stick to any method that suits your health history and body type.

How to start small
The best approach towards losing weight is to first of all realize that you need to lose weight. Once you are aware that your weight is no longer healthy and might become a threat to your well being, the journey to weightloss becomes easy. This is called acceptance.

You can now move on to determination. At this stage, you have to be extra cautious not to become desperate as to start using all sorts of medication or exercise routine that are not meant for you. It is best to appoint a weightloss coach who could help you analyse your lifestyle and then suggest the most suitable weightloss method for you.

Consistency then comes into play. For your weightloss routine to yield good results, you have to be consistent in whatever method you have decided is best for you. Set little goals to be achieved at short intervals and measure your achievements as you go.

Consistency will give you the needed confidence to stick to your fitness plans. If your coach has told you that breakfast is best for you at 6:00 a.m., stick to that time for your breakfast time. If during your analysis, it was concluded that you should workout for fifteen minutes everyday between 7:00 a.m. and 7.30 a.m., stick to it.

Weightloss is not magic, and the only best aspect of losing weight is when you are able to keep the fats off. With consistency, you would not have to worry about your fats coming back. As long as you stick with your timetable, the do’s and the don’ts.

How can your coach help you lose weight the best way?
Before you appoint a coach, ask yourself if you are determined to lose weight. Once you are able to answer this question affirmatively, you should look out for a coach that will help your dreams come true. Look out for a coach who listens, get testimonials from his/her previous clients, and find out about how he/she runs her weightloss programmes. The best weightloss coach would listen to your individual needs, and help you work out the best plan for a slim, fit and healthy you.

So what is the best way to lose weight? The best way to lose weight is to start small. Don’t just hit the gym or start restricting yourself from some diets. Start small with the following steps:

Accept that you need to lose weight
Be determined
Get a coach; and
Be consistent

Do you need to lose weight? Start your journey with us.

FamilySeven Ways To Run The Home Smoothly Under Tight Budgets by moreviewblog(op): 8:28am On Aug 10, 2016
The current state of the economy is harsh and quite unfriendly bringing about tensed atmosphere in some homes. As women and natural home makers, we are expected to assume the role of a manager and economist in these trying times so as to keep the home going despite the current situation in the country.

There is an urgent need to manifest the economist in us and keep the home running with a limited budget. The good news in the whole of this harshness is that as home makers, we can weather this storm if we look inward, by adjusting our mindset and beliefs. Instead of allowing the bad economy to take away our joy of a sustainable home, we should rather sustain it by taking a giant step forward, no matter how difficult.

Join me as I discuss various tweaks that we can apply to overcome the economic storm without sweats:

Learn to do a lot of things on your own
Learn how to fix simple kitchen appliances and gadgets. For now, do not use the service of a repairer unless the damage is really beyond you. You can learn some of these things on Google or by reading the instruction manual of the appliance. However, caution should be taken seriously when the damage has to do it opening of electrical components to repair. Do not do it, instead strike a good bargain with a qualified technician to do the repairs for you.

FamilySeven Ways To Maintain A Neat Home During Summer Holidays by moreviewblog(op): 5:23pm On Aug 07, 2016
The holiday period is here and of course, the kids are back home with us and the house might not remain the same quiet and neat place, at least for the moment that they are around.

Play toys and pieces of papers would be everywhere, tables turned upside down, spills of drink, mention it; would make everywhere look messy. Sometimes, it drives one nuts to try and keep up with the chaos. It can be very challenging and overwhelming if you are a neat freak like me.

However, I am glad to tell you that I am not doing badly in this area. I will share my workable approach with you in this post.

Here they are.

Be determined
Remember that children will always be children, so don’t expect grown-up actions from them. Having a clean home shouldn’t be about the kids only, you also need to set your mind on putting bits and pieces together, at whichever corner of the house you find yourself. Be the garbage woman, pick toys and other wrongfully placed items up as you move around. Do not bother to scream out your lungs, using your hands would save you a whole lot of stress.

HealthDiscover The Right Diet For Your Body Type by moreviewblog(op): 8:36pm On Aug 05, 2016
The best way to lose weight is to understand your body type because this is key to finding the right diet and exercise plan that will work for you. It is important to know which diet can help you make the most of your body shape because losing weight is not one size fit all. There are three main body types – Pear, Apple and Chili pepper.

Pear
This body type has a larger lower body- more fat load in the thighs, hips and butt and smaller upper body. A pear body type has the biggest challenge losing weight because it is believed that butt and thigh fat (passive fat) are the hardest to lose as they are designed to give women a steady supply of energy during breastfeeding and childbirth. Cellulite also affects the thighs and hip because it creates a network of fibrous tissues which makes it hard for blood supply to reach the fat deposits.

The best way for this body type to lose weight is by watching their fat intake. A diet rich in complex carbohydrate such as whole grains cereals, beans, lean proteins such fish, chicken, fruits and vegetables is advised because it will help to burn off excess fat. Exercise is also great way to slim down the thighs and hips. Aerobic activities such as running, cycling help to trim the excess pounds on the lower part of the body.

Nairaland GeneralFive Ways To Extend Your Weekend Into Monday by moreviewblog(op): 10:54pm On Aug 01, 2016
‘Thank God it’s Friday’ is a cliché that remains popular till this day as an indication that everybody loves Friday. On one hand, I am yet to see a ‘Thank God it’s Monday’ cliché while on the other hand the TGIF is everywhere every week. The reason is not far-fetched. Most people don’t look forward to Mondays for different reasons best known to them.

The truth is, I have not been a Monday person until recently. I realized I was doing myself no good for having a negative feeling towards the day so I had to make some adjustment. These adjustments, which I will share with you are the various ways to make you look forward to Mondays and also enjoy it, just like I do.

Enjoy your weekend
Make sure you relax well during the weekend. Have enough sleep. If you have events to attend as per Nigerians and Owambe, attend them. This will help ease the stress of the previous week. Make sure you sleep early on Sundays because this will not only help you wake up early on Monday, but also make you wake up and not feel cranky. Like the saying goes ‘Early to bed, early to rise’

Take breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It reduces the rate of being hungry and this helps you to be more productive because hunger can reduce speed and productiveness. See here for some insights on how eating right enhances your wellbeing.

Make a to-do list
Have a list of what you intend to do on Mondays, either as an employee or as an employer. This list will guide you to be focused and to be more productive. Some easy to use to do apps here Evernote, Google Keep, Redbooth, and the notepad on your mobile device. Have something you look forward to every Mondays. It can be a project you are recently working on. This will keep you motivated.

Don’t have the general mindset of ‘I hate Mondays’
People fail to understand that the right mindset at the beginning of everyday sets the tone of how the day ends up. And most people say ‘I hate Mondays’ just because others say it and this makes most people less productive because of the mindset. So try to do away with that statement.

Enjoy your Mondays
Try as much as possible to enjoy the day. See it as a fresh day for new opportunities. This should be your motivation towards enjoying the day.

On a final note, if after following all these guide you still hate Mondays, I guess you have to do something about your job. It is an indicator that you don’t love what you do.

All the best as you enjoy your Mondays and thank God for everyday!!

HealthThe Rationale Of Physical Fitness For Women by moreviewblog(op): 10:23pm On Jul 28, 2016
Women have always been put in second place by the society in almost all facets of life, except in areas where they have to perform domestic chores such as homemaking. However, the reverse is rapidly becoming the case as we now have women making names and flexing muscles in all aspects of everyday living. One of such areas is physical fitness activities.

Growing up, I had this notion that vigorous physical exercises were for men only as I was used to seeing only men lifting weights, or doing some push-ups. All that I used to do for physical activity along with my female friends were skipping, running, walking, and the likes.

Nowadays, more women are becoming renowned personal trainers and gym instructors. What is the rationale behind having almost the same number of women as men hitting the gym or sidewalks on a daily basis for some vigorous physical exercises? Below are the three major reasons behind this trend.

To keep up with the new lifestyle
As more women enter into the corporate industry and work in offices, their routine become disorganized and stress becomes the order of the day. Normal routine such as meal time, sleep time, nap time, all became scanty activities that are carried out without order. This has lead to situations such as lack of adequate sleep, unhealthy eating, reduction in creativity, and finally leading to weight gain among several other health issues.

The normal routine exercises such as walking and jogging may not be enough to combat situations such as weight gain. A busy woman would like to shed her fat fast in order to remain active. As such she looks up to more rigorous exercises such as weightlifting, or playing football. She hits the gym or uses the services of a personal trainer in order to maintain her fitness activity schedule.

To maintain good health
Another reason that women indulge in vigorous physical activity is to improve the state of their health. Based on this table by CDC, vigorous paced exercises burn more than 7 calories per minute, while moderate paced exercise burns between 3.5 to 7 calories per minute. When they need to keep fit or prevent health conditions such as osteoporosis or heart related diseases, women tilt towards vigorous exercises. They incorporate it into their moderate activities by intensifying the speed at which they run, jog, or walk without increasing the amount of time they spend if they were to perform the same exercise on a moderate level.

To boost self confidence
Women also indulge in vigorous fitness activities to boost their confidence. There is an increased need to exert self confidence in order to face the daily challenges that come with their new status as career women or business owners.

Being in a high position requires that we make serious decisons and take actions that affect a lot of people. If the situation arises to be a lead decision maker, some women tend to engage in physical activities while they think through and weight the pros and cons of their own contributions.

What about you? What is the rationale behind your choice of physical fitness activity?
FamilyKeeping It Real With Working Mothers by moreviewblog(op): 4:48pm On Jul 28, 2016
The proportion of women in the workforce has increased and nearly half of this population of women is mothers. It may be stressful for a woman to pursue a career and at the same time carry out her responsibilities as a mother. Guilt may creep in as her attention is divided between her family and work. However, the benefits of being a working mother should be a source of encouragement to women. Here are some of these benefits.

Independent kids
Children of working moms learn to fend for themselves at from their tender ages. These kids look after themselves as they get older while their mothers are at work and also help with house chores. As young adults, they can cook, fill and empty the dishwasher, clean the house and even do the laundry. Thus, it will be easier for them to live independently when they leave home for higher institutions. As independent adults, they are valuable as they can as well be independent thinkers.

Nice and very informative. I do all the above and they are very effective.
I take my smoothies first thing in the morning before my workouts and last thing at night before i sleep.
Water is also a good detoxifier.
Fasting is also a good form of detoxification reason being that it gives our digestive system a resting period.
Yes, water, man's best friend smiley

What works better between Black Tea and Green Tea because some health tips online advocate use of black tea over green?
Both tea are from the same source called Camellia sinensis, they both contain antioxidants, they both prevent cancer. The only significant difference is the color which is as a result of the production method. Another difference between them is that black tea tends to contain more caffeine than green tea but this is not usually the case as caffeine content is determined by various factors such as the brewing method.

Why do we even need to detox?

Toxin are harmful agents which are dangerous to the body and it is important for us to detox – the cleansing of our body systems to get rid of these harmful agents by making more healthy choices.

Here are six ways you can detox without using artificial substances, thereby really getting rid of harmful substances from our body.

Go with Green Tea
For ye coffee lovers to activate the detox mode, your coffee may have to take the back seat for the green light. Green tea is full of antioxidants which hydrates the body and reduces your chances of overeating or eating the wrong things because it fills you up. The caffeine content in green tea is different and milder on the body system compared to that of the coffee.

Sweat it out
Aside from losing weight, exercise helps to reduce friction, lubricate joints, and it is also an effective way of cleansing the body of toxins. Sweating during any exercise routine helps to pull toxins out of the body. It is therefore advisable to hit the gym regularly and sweat out any toxins left in your body. If you also love to hangout in the sauna, you can use it as another effective way of kicking those bad guys out of your system. To make it more fun, why don’t you invite some of your friends over.

Double your water intake
Like we always say to our readers, there is no such thing as too much water. If you want a faster detox process, then drink more water. Switch over from soft drinks to at least eight glasses of water daily. Drinking water constantly is a self detoxifying regimen which helps to cleanse and boosts your body metabolism. To make this process more effective, add a slice of lemon to a glass of water and drink it every morning. Lemons help to hydrate the body which in turn promotes the out flow of waste.

Try organic fasting
We are all familiar with fasting because of our various religious backgrounds. However, organic fasting is quite different, as it involves going off your regular diet for some few days and replacing it with fruits, salads, smoothies and other natural foods. You can’t imagine the type of massive effect this organic routine will have on your body, it will give your organs a break from sugar loading and help it to rejuvenate faster.

Massage and exfoliate your skin
Your guess is as good as mine, how does massaging detoxify the body? I thought it was just for relaxing after a long day at work. But you won’t believe it, massaging is also as effective exercising because it focuses on the pressure points on the body coupled with essential oil involved, it cleanses the body naturally. Dry skin brushing and exfoliating also helps to refresh circulation and remove toxins from the skin. It improves the appearance of your skin and helps to regenerate a new skin.

Take a deep breathe
Deep breathing is a key component of body detox, because oxygen is essential to the body’s absorption of nutrients and vitamins. It amplifies the lymphatic system by increasing its oxygen’s level which naturally leads to detoxification of body.
