Then Decree 4 came for the same Press quickly followed by War Against Indiscipline to whip the Plebs into line.

In just 20mths after they rushed to the streets in jubilation of Shagari's ouster in a military coup by Buhari, the same ignoramuses where back dancing to celebrate Buhari's ouster.

Buhari was even struggling with legitimacy back in 1984 but now you handed him power again to repeat the same rubbish which at the rate he is going will be worse than what transpired in 1984.

DSS RAID ON CORRUPT JUDGES AND WHAT IS DEMOCRACY

--corrupt judges are the worst set of people is killing our democracy-- Princewill Chimereze.

On Saturday 8th October, 2016 the DSS raided the home of some high profile judges in Nigeria. The Said raid has generated irrational outcry by some group and some section of the country. Nigeria’s opposition party the PDP has termed it a "descent into fascism". Some has said our democracy is in danger, others termed it rape of our democracy. When you listen to some of these cries even from those who know nothing about democracy but just decide to foam through the nose because others are doing same, you would be forced to really ask what is democracy and who is killing it? According to wikitionary.org Democracy is the Belief in political freedom and equality; the "spirit of democracy". That's for dictionary meaning. To those who has opposed the raid by Nigeria's State security outfit, to them democracy is upholding the tenets of law and doing things the right way.

It's very funny to see a people choose what is democratic or what is not detrimental to our young democracy. Who really is putting our democracy in danger? A judge who subverts the will of the people and does the bidding of the highest paying politician? A judge who sends a petty thief to long term imprisonment but commits bigger crime and gets away with it? A judge who collects bribe to continuously give conflicting judgement on issues?
To the our democracy is in danger shouting irrational beings, A politician who rigged election, perpetrated all kinds of violence against his opponent and the people in order to win election is not putting our democracy in danger. He is upholding it. Its even more amusing that a governor was stopping the arrest of a judge. In a democracy? What concerns a governor with the arrest of a judge? How did he get to know? It might interest anyone to know that this same raid was carried out in over five State of the Federation and you begin to wonder where was the governor of those other state? And why did they not also try to stop DSS? A rational answer would help all of us.

As if such nonsense is not insulting to our collective common sense and endangering our young democracy, An electoral case would be brought before a court, the said electoral matter would be glaring even to the blind that it was badly flawed and Judges would uphold such elections. And those shouting democracy now kept quiet. A politician would loot the treasury of the nation without conscience and care for democracy. When such politician is brought to court, he bribes his way out of the issue and walks free. He has been given a pat on the back for looting and even encouraging potential looters that we 've got your back go ahead and steal as you like. What kills democracy faster than judgements encouraging looting.

The same noise makers about the recent DSS raid on corrupt judges are the ones who will be the first to scream economy is in recession, things are hard, prices of foodstuffs has skyrocketed. But fail to understand that When these corrupt judges collect bribes, they also contribute to the downfall of the economy and what should have benefited the common man would be shared among selected few. Is that democracy? A politician steals over a $100 million and bribes a Judge with $2 million from the said loot gets a clean judgement of doing no wrong and he walks freely is that upholding democratic tenets? Or is democracy under siege when some people choose to see it so?

During Election, State security apparatus were unleashed on opposition, some military men were arm banded to carry out shady deals in order to win election for friends and party members in the last dispensation. Where were the today crying "our democracy is in danger illiterates? Money was earmarked for procurement of arms to fight insurgency in the Northeast and same was shared by those whom the present day shouters of our democracy is in danger supported. Then democracy had seen the light but when those people are called upon to come and answer to their atrocities democracy is being killed. How?

To this same "democracy illiterates" When A sitting governor was denied entrance to the government house of his state, it was democracy in action. When DSS raided the office of an opposition party and carted away with their belongings it was democracy in action. When the security details of a Speaker of House of Representatives was withdrawn democracy was breathing fine. The most surprising thing about all these corruption defending is that it's championed by downtrodden youths who might not get their desire to lead the nation due to the manner and way the politicians go about politics in Nigeria. How would you win election with the level of violence, ballot box snatching and rigging that has been mastered by this politicians and when such cases get to court, they are even upheld.

"Nigerian Youths what is your gain in defending corruption or supporting those accused of corruption?

This is a call to the DSS to carry out more of this type of raid on anyone no matter how highly or lowly placed the person is. Be more probing, go further, crush things and make sure Nigeria is purged of corruption. Patriotic Nigerians are behind you. I must State categorically that corrupt judges are the worst set of people is killing our democracy.

I would like to end this piece with a quote from a well respected legal luminary Mohammed Uwais. “A corrupt judge is more harmful to the society than a man who runs amok with a dagger in a
crowded street. The latter can be restrained physically. But a corrupt judge deliberately destroys the moral foundation of society and causes incalculable distress to individuals through abusing his office while still being
referred to as honourable"

To those who still have the ability to recollect their senses and move on from elections loss which was inevitable, and has be clouded their sense of judgment, I hope a corrupt judge would not handle your case and deny you justice.

I know what I am saying, it's not this present government because it is run by an unrepentant bigot and unforgiving ruler not leader. He has a skull to settle. My stands is that with d collective help of other good Nigerians and d support of the communities, the federal government can then develop those areas. I believe one day a detribalized Nigeria will be in d helms of affairs that will ensure host communities of oil, hydro dam and other mineral resources are well taken care of. I don't really have any hope in this Buhari govt until his supporters tell him d truth. I have seen a lot of good northern people but Buhari not helping to solve d distrust amongst south easterners about northerners.

My fear in politics of Nigeria is oppressive tendencies of our leaders. Look at out society, when one holds a position he/she make sure it's only people of their zone or tribe gets everything. It's until we as a citizen mature in our reasoning and becomes our brother keepers, that's the only way I can trust the system. Buhari govt is not helping matter. Ur work is to always tell him d truth to do what's right for peace to reign. As for d issues of development in the southern oil producing areas I said, my suggestion is for d federal government to single handedly develop those areas with support from the community and other well meaning Nigerians from other part of the country as it was being done in Abuja. And d task should never b given to the governors. Nepotism is still prevalent in our system. With that it's difficult for me to trust any of our present leaders. Their mind set have not changed
You are neither here nor there. Who is this FG to develop there? The present government?

Why it was pronounced after the elections, was the fear that this present government won't involve them in the inner running of this government. And we can all see how he favours this people in very important posts; security and so on. Majority of the leaders of the Niger delta areas are there to chop belle full. What I have been saying for a while now, is that d federal government at the centre should intiate developmental drive in those regions and the overall power should solely rest on the federal and not the state government. Just like the way the federal government developed Abuja and Lagos.
The post is directed at ppl like you who believe in tribalism. Who cares if posts and appointments come from one family. All I want is a functioning nation with all social amenities and freedom available. If development rests on fG so any need electing representatives from the region?

Look around Nigeria, does it look to you like God resides there? The Muslims in the North are fake, intolerant, and fanatical, the Christians in the East are also fake, intolerant and fanatical. The way they practice their religion, do they seem to you like they truly believe in/fear God? They support crime and try to use God to hoodwink the populace. Im betting you were born when GEJ was using the Church as a means to indirectly destabilize the country during his tenure. At least the Muslims stone and chase away their thieving leaders from Prayer grounds, have you ever heard of a thieving Politician being chased away from the Church? Instead, sermons and services are held up when a Politician is running late. Actions like that are worse than terrorist bombs because the play into the psyche of the citizens and make them also want to acquire power by all means possible so that they too can be accorded the same "respect".

Most Nigerians are atheists, they just don't know it.

What perplexed me most is that, all these people still go to their various religious houses on Sundays and Fridays as the case may be. They pray sing,do all the stuff, come home from church, log in to Nairaland and start spewing their hatred and unfounded assumptions. How do you guys do it? Harbouring such contempt for your fellow humans, created by God undecided how do you live with yourselves? If your Nairaland posts and other social media post were read to your church members, will you still be holding that position? If your Nairaland posts and other social media posts were read to your colleagues/ boss at work, will you still keep that job?
Well its a known fact that hypocrisy runs deep in the veins of an average religious person. Or is it because nobody knows your true identity? May God forgive us all.
Thanks for this.

Youths of today lacks morales and proper upbringing due to bad characteristics in most parents. As of the issue of agitation for independent of their country, it's a natural thing and anybody is free to opt out from an unhealthy union. Why u won't find rich kids fighting for breakout from Nigeria is because majority of them are beneficiary from this wicked union. A country that care less for the zone that produces the wealth of the nation, a country that don't value patriotism, a country that practice bad belle politics and winner takes all system. Our system is so messed up Bro. Nothing works, at times u won't really blame them people are really frustrated. Compare this era to most of our parents who enjoyed life in the 1970s even in the 80's too, when things were easy and most people could afford to buy brand new vehicles, but what do we see these dsys; more of tokunbon vehicles are being sold. Me I am tired of complaining. sad
Why did the agitation become more pronounced after 2015 elections if it's genuine? And the worst is many of them do it online, insult whoever oppose them and support a particular political party. You want out of a country and you want the political party of that same country headed by the same tribe you hate how does that add up?

Ask any of them how to actualise their agitation and they tell you Hausa and Yoruba should let us go. And you wonder such illiteracy. These rich kids are even needed at the long run so also big politicians from that region if anything is going to come out of it. The same zone you claim produce the wealth, have they not been president, what did they do with the power? Don't they have Senators, rep members, Governors etc. What did they do with the money and agencies set up for them?

The truth is tribalism and hatred will no one any good. If you anyone into it here and offline, advice them.

When I read comments emanating from this site, I feel so pained and perplexed. Is this the kind of youths that would steer the ship of Nigeria tomorrow? Some morons come here as early as 4 am some don't even sleep just to come and rain insults on fellow citizens or support those who has kept them the way they are. Some come here to agitate for an imaginary country which I have never seen any politician's children agitate for or any wealthy individual's child do same.

Here people insult the money paid for their school fees. No offense but when I see comments here, I feel education of many was a waste such money should have been used to buy land, train a dog or used for something more meaningful than train a child that would later constitute online nuisance or bask in foolery.

The problem is these unexamined online barbarians is that they are praised by fellow illiterates and thus, they feel they are doing the right thing.

Out of 10 comments only 1 will be reasonable. No wonder old politicians give no hoot about the youths. They ve weighed you guys and have seen that many of you still lack home training. You come here and pride yourself in tribalism. The question is which Nigerian politician pride himself in tribalism as you do? Tomorrow Orji Uzor Kalu will visit Babangida or Obiano will visit Buhari and many of you here still can't learn.

Help a youth today Nairaland. Leave sentiments aside political party, ethnic or religious affiliation any youth who comes here to show his mental illness, let him/her know it can be cured or they've done wrong than supporting them trough like and other means. I don't want to list out names but these people know they are foolish but they feel it's good cos some of you support them.

Nigerian Youths receive sense.
