Culture / Re: The New Mogadishu by MorrisaMkenya(m): 6:18pm On Jan 18, 2015 |
Maakhir:when i talk of slums i mean places with no decent housing and poor...Some of the slums you are talking about in Kenya have people earning more than somalis who leave in manyattas...how can people who have no designated home access development? Like proper housing, education, water and decent lives....plus mind the insecurity in the failed stae...you should thank KDF and the whole of africa for ensuring stability is coming in the nearby future. |
Culture / Re: The New Mogadishu by MorrisaMkenya(m): 6:03pm On Jan 18, 2015 |
Maakhir:they are not weak, they have been weakened by KDF...they have actually been beaten nearly out of somalia and have returned the war to our own Country...but its just a matter of time before our arny wipes them out |
Culture / Re: The New Mogadishu by MorrisaMkenya(m): 2:30am On Jan 18, 2015 |
Maakhir:Thats the problem of trusting western media...now for your information.....Kisumu city in better that mogandishu...i have said of Mombasa na Nakuru and Machakos cities....Nairobi is in its own league...it funds somali refugees in kenya |
Culture / Re: The New Mogadishu by MorrisaMkenya(m): 2:10am On Jan 18, 2015 |
Maakhir:i find it very funny when you compare Kenya to Somalia...for God's sake slums are in every country in africa....and outside africa there are slums. The difference is that 15% of Nairobi has slums, 90% of somalia is a slum...child prostitution is everywhere, from africa to india to USA where they even have brothels you can find minors... Somalia is now thinking if establishing schools, where they are soooo poor to do so such that Turkey govt came to their rescue...do i need to tell you that Kenya is a middle income country... You call Alshabaab kids, while the somali govt+army couldnt handle it? are you trying to impose a plot twist us? KDF deals with alshabaab to the letter but you cant appreciate that you are still struggling to remain relevant. those alshabaabs you are calling teens had taken a whole city of Kismayu, and that country had a govt? Those millitants i saw at westgate were teens? come on you sound irrelevant..Zimbabwe has a devalued currency, but are far much ahead of Somalia. Lastly, you realli support Alshabaab when they kill innocent people, i wonder why you are not in somalia if you did not go to school. religious psycophancy? i'll leave at that...remember Somalia is the poorest country in the world behind Haiti and DRC. |
Culture / Re: The New Mogadishu by MorrisaMkenya(m): 1:46am On Jan 18, 2015 |
Maakhir:First, Kenya was not interested in somali territories, the main reason KDF is in somalia is because Alshabaab threatened the sovereignity of the Republic of Kenya, and the somali govt had been overpowered by them and therefore we had to show them why Kenya is the backbone of East Africa. You have a notion that KDF is fighting somali people but for real its fighting Alshabaab of which somali army couldnt. You clan and civil wars were not worthy Kenya's attention, but a good and able govt, would have established a strong Army nad police service like that of Kenya, so that they could help in quelling the clan wars....You fail to appreciate that KDF has helped somali claim its land from alshabaab..kismayu,mogandishu to Jubaland...KDF is the reason Turkey is in Somali because they have restored some form of order in that wrecked country. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: West African Leaders Mull New Force To Fight Boko Haram by MorrisaMkenya(m): 1:30am On Jan 18, 2015 |
Litmus:Your mentallity is really sickening. What is in Nigeria that would make other african countries risk the lives of their soldiers for? You want to sound mighty infront of Ghana and SA but cant accept the fact that BokoHaram insurgency is a bigger problem than Nigerian Army can handle. The reason John Dramani is callling for unity is because we need african unity to defeat this problem that threatens our security. Its just a matter of time before those useless Bokoharam start reaming up with alshabaab and it will mean hell to both Nigeria annd KENYA. Mind you this is not a Ghana's problem, so when western countries unite to fight terror, Africa should unite too. and not just west africa, the whole of africa. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MorrisaMkenya(m): 10:22am On Jan 09, 2015 |
Whoever thinks Nigeria has a strong army should explain to us how BokoHaram can abduct 200girls for more than 2months and the govt still remains clueless on how to rescue them, how Bokoharam can kill 2000 people and there is security in that nation and how can an insurgent group like BokoHaram control any section of a country(Borno) that claims to be the giant of Africa. |

Anyone saying that Nigeria has a stronger army than other nations, must explain to us how BokoHaram can manage to kill 2000 people in a country with an army...or even abduct 200girls for more than a month. |

Ghanaian President John Mahama today toured the National Youth Service headquarters at Ruaraka, Nairobi. President Mahama – who is on a State visit in the country – was conducted on the tour by his host President Uhuru Kenyatta. The visiting Head of State was impressed by the NYS clean-up of Kibera slums in a video played at yesterday’s Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo National Stadium. At Ruaraka, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru briefed the Ghanaian President on the five-point vision of the reformed NYS. The CS said NYS will be the main actor in youth empowerment as a key driver to development. Waiguru said 21,870 young people will be recruited to the NYS and in turn mentor 227,670 others annually. They will be organised in groups of 15. Waiguru said NYS service men and women will be expected to transfer knowledge and skills to the community they will be working in. She pointed out that NYS will also be engaged in traffic control, a role they will perform from February next year in Nairobi city. President Mahama and President Kenyatta were scheduled to later hold bilateral talks at State House, Nairobi. 1 Like

Investment / Kenya Becomes The First Sub Saharan Africa Country To Embrace The 4G Technology. by MorrisaMkenya(m): 7:02am On Dec 06, 2014 |
The technology is the most advanced version of the 4G system for mobile networks and promises to pass on significant improvements in data speeds and latency to its customers while maintaining superior voice quality. Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore says the company will initially roll out the 4G service in Nairobi and Mombasa, before scaling up coverage to other major towns in the coming months. Collymore says the LTE Advanced network will offer peak speeds of up to 100 Megabytes per second (Mbps), which is more than twice the speed offered on 3G technology making it possible for customers to download and upload files faster, as well as enjoy buffer-free streaming of audio and video. “The direct impact of data on our economy has already been noted through the increasing number of businesses and services offered online. With 4G, we can deliver revolutionary services like tele-medicine, virtualization or real-time video that have immediate and transformational impact on our society,” said Collymore. He said Safaricom is keen to supply affordable 4G-enabled devices including phones, routers and modems to the market, with a sub Sh9,000 phone planned for early next year. The low cost devices will supplement the already available iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Huawei P7 smartphones along with 4G modems that shall be available in Safaricom shops and come with a free 4GB data bundle. “Today’s launch progresses our strategic push to democratise data. We believe in the transformative power of the internet and are keen to deliver the most advanced technologies to our subscribers in order to remain the network of choice,” Collymore added. The coming of 4G is expected to drive the growth of Internet users in the country. READ: Kenya’s mobile phone subscriptions hit 32.2mn In the third quarter of 2014 (April to June ) the number of Internet users increased by 3 percent to post 22.3 million users up from 21.6 million owing to increase in Internet subscription that grew by 5 percent to reach 14 million from 13.3 million. “International Internet bandwidth available in the country declined by 2.1 percent to 847,464 Mbps down from 865,714 Mega bytes per second (Mbps) recorded in the last quarter. This decline could be attributed to the reported decrease in capacity by Sea Submarine Communications Limited (SEACOM),” the Quarterly Sector Statistics Report for the period April to June 2014 states. Access to Internet through the mobile phones and tablets maintained an upward trend within the quarter under review recording 5.1 percent growth to stand at 13.9 million subscriptions. Furthermore, mobile data/Internet subscriptions accounted for 99 percent of the total subscriptions. 1 Like

Politics / Kenyan Youth Protest To Their President, Over Rise In Insecurity. by MorrisaMkenya(m): 9:03am On Nov 27, 2014 |
Hundreds of Kenyans on Tuesday held peaceful demonstrations in Nairobi to protest at the soaring insecurity in the east African nation and urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack top security officials. The protesters chanted slogans demanding security forces to stop the killings and ensure safety of Kenyans in the wake of the weekend bus massacre in northern Kenya, in which 28 non-Muslims were killed by terrorists. “We are protesting against the failure of the security system and to demand immediate and effective action to reverse the dire security situation and that is why demonstrators have chosen to occupy Harambee Avenue where the offices of the president, his deputy and other government departments critical to security are located,” they said, “It seems as if the government agencies only react after an incident occurs and fail to listen to intelligence and set up preventive measures. At the end of the day, it is up to the President, as the leader of the country and patriarch of the government, to ensure that the citizens feel secure and those who are sleeping on the job are held accountable,” they said. The protesters, who were later joined by Senator Boni Khalwale, demanded the overhaul of security agencies, saying they are responsible for the deaths in insecurity incidents. Khalwale said he was affected by the Mandera bus attacks on Saturday in which 28 people, 21 of whom were teachers, were killed in Mandera. He said 11 of the dead were from his home county of Kakamega. The senator said it was high time for the government to put competent people in office and the ensure the security of Kenyans The protesters are also agitating for the sacking of Cabinet Secretary for Interior Joseph Ole Lenku and Inspector-General of police David Kimaiyo, whom they accused of laxity in acting on insecurity in the country. “The consensus among most of the country’s citizens is that the government is not doing enough to deal with insecurity and offer proper protection to its citizens,” shouted one of the demonstrators. The protests have been occasioned by an attack on a Nairobi- bound bus from Mandera over the weekend in which 28 people were first tortured then shot dead by Somali militants who later claimed responsibility. The protesters, who included the civil society and legislators, carried crosses in respect to the Mandera martyrs. The group under the banner of “Occupy Harambee Avenue” has been mobilizing support for the protest since Sunday through social media.
