1. The Carlton Centre The Carlton Centre is a 732 ft or 223 meter tall building in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has been the reigning champion of tallest buildings in Africa for 39 years to this point. With 50 floors, it is a formidable skyscraper and shopping center in South Africa. Though it has been the reigning champion, new construction currently threatens its ‘tallest building’ title.

While not necessarily the first place one would consider for tall buildings, Africa has undergone a building surge in many of its cities. Though there are fewer skyscrapers in Africa than in North America or other countries, quite a few of the major African cities feature city scapes just as unique and recognisable as New York City or New Orleans, LA. The current headliner of the tallest buildings in Africa is the Carlton Centre of Johannesburg , but there are several buildings being planned that would be taller, including Nairobi’s The One and Ghana’s HOPE City. Ghana’s HOPE City is actually meant to be a technology playground, creating jobs for over 50,000 people and tempting dozens of technology companies. It started construction this past June and is expected to take two to three years to finish the building. From now until 2018, it looks like there will be quite a few new sky climbing skyscrapers in Africa’s future. We’ve taken a look at the top ten tallest buildings as of 2013. Here goes the list. Facebook plans to develop non-invasive sensors that can measure brain activity hundreds of times per second at high resolution to decode brain signals associated with language in real time. “No such technology exists today; we’ll need to develop one.” Facebook is looking at using optical imaging – using lasers to capture changes in the properties of neurons as they fire – to glean words straight from our brain before we say them. If these signals can be read, they can be transmitted silently to other people. If the thought that a company that makes almost all of its money from harvesting your personal data could also have access to your thoughts is scary, that’s because it is. Dugan attempted to assuage people’s fears by pointing out that Facebook would only decode the words you were going to say anyway. “It’s not about decoding random thoughts,” she said. “We’re talking about decoding the words you’ve already decided to share by sending them to the speech center of your brain.” – The Guardian, Facebook has 60 people working on how to read your mind. |
The people at Facebook are going down a path that can only be described as post-Orwellian. Not satisfied with the fact that their users willingly share their most intimate information on a daily basis, Facebook is looking to reshape the world and decipher thoughts that haven’t even been verbalized. In February, Mark Zuckerberg released the “ Facebook Manifesto ” which, under a thin veil of altruistic vocabulary, hid a dystopian vision of a “connected world” where the flow of information was overseen and propagated using artificial intelligence and elaborated algorithms. But that’s not enough. On April 19th, the company revealed its most ambitious (and scary) project to date. |
Facebook announced that it assembled a team of 60 people to develop a technology allowing users to “think” commands and messages at their smartphones. The system would be able to literally read your mind … constantly. What could go wrong?

Am Emotionally down right now, 2 weeks ago, i order a pair of nike air sneakers nd a designer vee neck top from a popular online store. I sent the address of my sisters place of work in V.I to be delivered there nd to her, [i already gave her the money] 2 weeks after i placed my order, they finally delivered. My sister paid on delivery nd collected the package without checking[ which is understandable] when she got back home,nd gave it to me, i was shocked when i saw dis>> 1. The vee neck top was oversize XXL 2. The sneakers was just too small to fit in. Note: i stated it to them my size XL AND size 45 for the nike air and not 40. The problem is dat i can't return it. Pls help what should i do. Advice needed. Ishilove mynd44
