Marjoribanks: I have scouted talent to know who a genuine talent is from their first to second touch and movement. At 16/17 you could see Nwakali/Arder/Kanu/Osimhen's talent. I just do not see that boy succeeding as a striker! I have never gone wrong with my prediction. Calafiori and Zirkzee are prime examples!
Nevertheless, I understand your point. The team you played in can also help even when you're average. There are many examples of such players too. Maybe Endrick might be one of them. lol! You're a scout? wow. But the other day, you said Calafiori is a midfielder. BTW, I'm a good analyst too. Which club do you scout for? Link me up abeg. |

Jodera: Lol, yeah, they've been solely working on that formation oo. The 3 atb they did against Switzerland was what they even worked on newly in their last two training sessions against Switzerland. Before then, they've not tried it in preparation for this Euros.
He brought in Palmer, brought in Eze and brought in Toney. He still left Kane and Saka, Bellingham and Rice.
So with an attack of Kane, Toney, Saka, Palmer, Eze, Rice and Bellingham. You don't think one of this attackers will be withdrawn back albeit still showing attacking class? And who better than Saka amongst all of them?
Did you know that when England was winning in that same Slovakia match, Saka was shifted back to his right wing towards the end of the match? (with Palmer at Lw) ie when Kane was withdrawn. Oya Oya... I know you no go gree. It is ok bro. Netherlands go do the Lord's work. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 9:36pm On Jul 07, 2024 |
Jodera: 1. First bolded: The reason why it took him long to adjust was because that formation was what they've been working on since. In fact, according to either telegraph or the athletic I read from, it was strictly that 4 atb they've been working on with Trippier/Shaw at Lb while Arnold in midfield. From what I read, seems there was no plan B hence Southgate was just forcing it while changing personnels(from Arnold to Gallagher to finally Mainoo). When it reached Slovakia match (after 4 matches) and it's still not working he just had to change it. If he had plan B, he would have adjusted since especially the 3rd match(against Slovenia).
2. Second bolded: Desperate times requires desperate measure. They're losing and they're on the verge of elimination unlike group stages where a draw they've been having is all good.
What do you expect Southgate to do, remove attackers for another attacker try to put in more attackers to his previous attackers for more fire power? Most coach will do the latter in that situation.
If you are the one, what would you have done differently? I would really love your response So you mean they used weeks to practise that exact formation and personnel only to almost crash out with the same formation? Southgate na better otu sha. There are many options to make in that moment but moving one of your best attackers to LB, a position he has not played for 3 years now in that crucial moment. Come on, that's not something Southgate would do on his own. To think he made the exact substitution by bringing on Palmer should tell you something. He could have moved Foden to RW and bring in Gordon. But because the media says Saka to LB and Palmer to RW. He had to follow the same step. |

TheGoodJoe: Roberto Carlos can hit a fantastic screamer but I have seen him cooked many times like of he can't even mark. Go watch Ronald de Boer cook him in France 98 so badly that his coach told him to stop trying. If this is all you could come up with, then whatever point you have mentioned here to defend the devilish tikitaka football is invalid. |

TheGoodJoe: The speed and intensity comes with reducing the opponents time with the ball. The defensive side of the possessive play. Also, off the ball runs in attacking play.
It will be a fantasy to think Ronaldinho will skate through Liverpool's gengenpress with ease. You see all these passing and passing around teams employed today just to beat the press, it will take Ronny just a single piece of skill to break the press. You see players like Ronny and Okocha who are good dribblers, their skills are natural. Nowadays, players play under a specific system to break the press. Once this system fails. the results will be disastrous. But dribblers like Ronny, even if the system fails, they can still do many things to bail out their teams because their abilities are natural. |

TheGoodJoe:
I raised points. Debate the point. If your point is a diamond, LAWMA go still trash . because it has no value. Imagine comparing Cannavaro and Stones. For all your tactical and intensity excuse let me ask you some questions? That freekick technique of Roberto Carlos, how many of your LBs can execute it? Akanji who is supposed to be technical played a ridiculous penalty yesterday? John Stones couldn't clear a simple ball and Switzerland scored? Gvardiol nko, how many times did he drop a stinker in this Euro before Croatia crashed out? Walker for England is just there. That's what scientific football has caused. It will squeeze out the players' innate and natural abilities and create a rigid system for them. You take the players out of this system and they will look ordinary. |

TheGoodJoe: What is causing the scientific football is what I am talking about. It is the increase in physicality and speed. The only way is to play around it. Speed and intensity has made it difficult to have space for flair. You hammered on speed and intensity. All that speed and intensity just to play tikitaka. As in, what is the use of the speed and intensity of all players do all day is just to make 3 or 4 yard passes? |
