Palace played on Thursday, played on Saturday and are playing again tomorrow. This might not count but fatigue maybe a determinant tomorrow.
I would like to see Kepa, Timber, Saliba, Hincapie, Myles, Norgaard, Merino, Ethan, Eze, Jesus and Nonso. Nichols and Saliba Jr can come in to relieve the regulars.
Let's win tomorrow please |

Gabzy1: We didn't play quite well in yesterday's 0-1 win away at Everton. We barely created enough chances from open play, The result absolutely spared our blushes, as Everton had their moments in the second half with that controversial non-penalty call.
The criticism on Zubimendi and Odegaard have been spot on. Zubimendi and Odegaard play too safe, None of them have the ability to carry the ball through the midfield apart from Rice.
The stats from yesterday showed how shocking our lack of individual penetration was.
Saka completed 4 successful dribbles while Odegaard, Trossard, and Martinelli all had zero. We dominated possession but couldn't beat markers 1v1 or progress the ball fast enough in the final third.
This is exactly why we'll keep struggling to break down low block. Only Saka can't be our attacking threat.
That's also why I've been hesitant to blame Gyokeres. Yes, he has his flaws but the bigger systemic issue is the lack of space creation around him.
Without more dribbling threat, carries from midfield like Rice occasionally does or wingers beating their man consistently, he will keep on feeding on scraps against packed defenses.
Better creativity and penetration would give him and the whole attack more room to thrive. About Gyokeres... Man should work on his touches too. He needs to stop gumming body with defenders so he can find that separation. |

BlueRayDick: Rice was everywhere yesterday, in fact since that Real Madrid gake last season Rice has been our best player in an Arsenal shirt.
It just seem as if Rice is the only one in our team who has that winning mentality that gives his all everytime he's on the pitch. Yesterday Rice was everywhere breaking Everton's attack play, sliding into the path of Everton players and repelling attacks after attacks. He also laid that pass to Trossard which ended up hitting the side bar following Trossard's placing shot.
One thing I noticed Saka requires is an AM who would be audacious to make a daring run at the opposition defence each time Saka gets double marked and he draws at least two defenders to himself. At that point, Saka needs either Eze or Odegaard to come to his left hand side, receive the ball from him and make a dashing run at whatever remains of the oppositions defensive set up. Whoever makes that run must be willing to dribble his way in without losing sight of other attackers' position in the box so as to be able to either pick a a nice final pass or strike a shot.
Now the problem with that scenario currently is that Odegaard will receive the ball, turn here and there and end up sending the pass side ways instead of penetrating deep into the heart of the opposition's defense.
Eze on the othrler hand would not even make himself available to receive the pass from Saka's foot. He would plant himself hiding behind opposition defenders and will somehow expect the ball to miraculously locate him thereby making the job of opposition defenders simple the moment they isolate Saka and close him down.
The drop in performance by Zubimendi has impacted on Rice venturing upfield. Before now, Rice always plays close to the edge of the opposition box when we are attacking and he's always available to play one or two outside shot. It just seem as if since that Chelsea game Rice has been handed a new responsibility of always staying behind to help our defense especially since our defence injury woes started. And I think that has affected our goal chances.
Hopefully Gabriel comes back ASAP and we get our MOJO back. It just seem as if the imbalance in our defense is what affects our overall attack play. It looks as if we play with so much caution upfront because almost everyone doesn't trust the defense so we take less and lesser risk upfront. On Zubimendi and Rice being overworked.. 1. It could be due to fatigue. Zubimendi rarely partakes in full training nowadays just to manage his load. 2. Arsenal with Gabriel at the back is a different team. Our defence has become weaker in the last couple of weeks so Rice staying back to cover the defence is understandable. With Saliba at the back yesterday, Rice was able to venture forward a bit (the pass to Trossard and a shot at the edge of the box). Even Zubimendi did hit the post from the edge of the box as well. You tend to take more risk when you're assured there's a 'rock' at the back. We should be more concerned about the attackers and Odegaard especially. |

🗣️Rio Ferdinand on how #Arsenal man Viktor Gyökeres can improve: “There are two or three things I look at with Gyökeres that he needs to understand. His movement… I think they had 30 crosses in, the second-most they’ve had, and I’m watching him when the ball is wide.
“I’m not saying he’s got terrible movement. I’m just saying you need to understand who is on the ball. Depending on who is on the ball, you move differently.
“If Martin Ødegaard’s on the ball, he’s going to move differently to when Saka’s on the ball and vice versa, but I just don’t think there’s that telepathy yet. There’s not that understanding there, that I’ve got to move here when Saka’s there. Whether that’s about communicating and talking outside the pitch or just doing those reps on the training ground…
“One of the big things that I saw, as a defender, he’s allowing defenders to get their hands on him. Now, in Portugal, he was stronger and quicker than almost every centre-half. Even if the defender had his hands against him, he was shrugging people off and just slapping it in the back of the net.
“He ain’t doing that in the Premier League. Centre-halves are as big as him and as strong as him at times and he’s enabling them to get their hands on him and then he can’t move, he’s locked down.” #COYG #AFC #Arsenal #arsenalfanaticsnews |

BlueRayDick: I think we need to make it a duty to score early and press our opponents more for second goal. That's the only way for us to get results out of those matches. Yea.. I agree. Score early and press them for more. Inviting teams to attack us must stop. We used to be one of the best teams when it comes to holding possession. |

Fkforyou: I agree with this. I wonder why Arteta hasn’t try something different.
I mean, it’s obvious that putting him in that position especially against teams that park the bus can be quite effective. Man City, A.Bilbao, Bayern, Chelsea ?
One thing I would love Arteta to do more often is try different approach to things.
I remember saying that, Odegaard must not always play RM, He could try playing LM and Nwaneri plays the right, while Martinelli could sometimes play CF.
I’m not saying he should be like Guardiola, just try something else to give us some form of unpredictability. It could also be helpful in the players development. 1. We can still play to Martinelli's strength without playing him as CF. Martinelli is suffering from same thing Gyokeres is suffering from. Both like running into space but our midfielders (especially Odegaard) rarely give them the ball. 2. That he has pace and finishing doesn't mean he can play comfortably as a CF. Pace and finishing are just two of the numerous qualities a standard EPL CF must have. Martinelli would be better off feeding off from a big striker doing the 'heavy jobs' than telling Martinelli to do the jobs himself. 3. Odegaard needs to step up or we get a replacement. All this barber chair football he is playing is hurting the team. He is our creative fulcrum FFS. |

Gabzy1: How I wish Sanchez had stayed at Arsenal just 1 or 2 years longer
He could've mentored Martinelli, who shares that same relentless energy and fighting spirit as Sanchez, but lacks the same level of technical flair, dribbling magic, and creative vision that made prime Alexis so devastating.
That 2016/17 version of Sanchez was truly unplayable, carrying the team with 24 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League alone.
Whenever he cut inside from the left onto his favoured right foot, he'd unleash those dangerous, whipped crosses into the box that terrorized defenses. Maybe... However, they're not of similar profile. Trossard is closer to Sanchez than Martinelli. |
