I would have preferred Havertz sits this one out for Nwaneri. City are vulnerable when facing false 9s

I hope the players turn up for tomorrow's match... It is a match beyond tactics or whatever.

They need to show zeal and determination that they indeed want to win.

It will make a lot of tactical sense to drop Havertz and play Trossard up top. Havertz can come in later.

daveP:
midtable wan drop 70m and above? E go be trad top 6 team. 1more hour for windows to close.

Galatasaray gets Morata. Means someone don grab Osimhen.... Who did? 😳😳

Icardi is injured. It only make sense to get a replacement. Dey calm down o

You mean a mistake that bypassed the first line of defence (Referee), the second line of defence (VAR) will just go unpunished?

If that red card was reversed, it only means the ref failed to do his job and that should attract sanction. Especially with something as ridiculous as that.

Happy to have Myles back for the City match. I don't think Calafiori should start that match IMO.

Deltamani:
This girl (Favour Emmanuel) be giving Halimatu Ayinde Vibes…..

At first glance, I thought this is Ohale. 😁

Veiga vs Calafiori just died a natural death.
Agbero fans dare not bring it up at all.

If only Tierney can stay fit eh... One of the best if not the best crosser in the squad. Cutback o, lob o, whirl o,.. baba Sabi everything.

As for Calafiori, his temperament is his only weakness now. If Gabriel and Timber can work on theirs, I expect him to do the same too.

David 'Arteta chased away Ramsdale because of him' Raya saving our ass usual. Excellent performance.

Partey is a boss!

Thank you Riccardo 'surplus to requirement' Calafiori for the invaluable 3 points.

Akinbahm:
I been dey wait for this reply from BluerayDick

The most ridiculous statement I've ever heard about a signing. Shouldn't be coming from Arsenal fans.

We dey complain about lack of depth, Dem still dey complain about signings. Bear in mind that Kiwior, Tierney and Zinchenko are likely leaving o.

Lush100:
This is exactly what i wanted to say.

It was a professional foul.
Else the one commit by Che of Italy on Saka would have been a red.

Oliver had got some borderline referee course to do.

Trust me, I know Myles' intention but when you have Olivier on the pitch, you don't give him any justification whatsoever to make some of his senseless decision. That's my point.

For a regular ref, you need to be careful but for Olivier, you have to be EXTRA careful. Not like the PGMOL people will take any sensible action. We will shout from this time till next year and nothing will be done.

That's my point!

'surplus to requirement' don score o

We might argue about that red card all day but why TF will you make that kind of challenge especially when you know who is officiating?

Let's just blame it on inexperience probably

Remove Ethan and bring in Sterling.

We've not found a backup for Odegaard yet.
Nwaneri is better off at RW but he still needs to develop some more.

Odegaard didn't make the squad. He is ill.
Gabriel captains the side

A nice weather to shoot down some wolves today.

So far so good, no win for home teams in EPL today.

Maybe I should just stay put at home and watch Netflix

Fkforyou:
I get your point. But then again, the reason you think we are short of Defenders is the Injury crisis. If we must get a defender, for me, it should be a Tall RCB.

By the way, Newcastle lost at home today, I love it.

It is not even about injury alone. We have like 4 defenders that may likely leave this summer thus the need for more additions. Tomi, Kiwior, Zinchenko and Tierney are off.

That will leave us bare at the back.

Fkforyou:
Obviously the team will be stacked with Defenders.

By the way, Saliba is not on the bench. Wahala!!!

I’m not always comfortable with Merino Starting and Martinelli on the right.

Left for me, I will give give Heaven a try at RCB, then, Partey in the Middle and Rice to play the 8.

As for Martinelli, I will accept that because we are short on Personnel at the moment.

Man City is just quietly doing business this January, I envy them.

Heaven is off to Frankfurt.

Maybe Maldini is the next in line

Fkforyou:
Defenders You want to set Arteta up for more drags, we need just at least 1 more. We should be fine.

Our priorities should be Attacking midfield, Right winger that can play both sides and a Center forward.

Getting more defenders doesn't mean we should not sign attackers na. There is nothing wrong in strenghtening a weak position. We are so light in defence but many don't know.

Fkforyou:
Skysports just posted videos of player being humiliated.🤣😂

God no go shame us, them no post Saliba own 🤣.

I’m pretty sure the post was inspired by Trosaard vs Porro dribble.

The dribble mad

Fkforyou:
Omo!!! I haven’t seen White and Gaberiel Partneship since early days of Arteta but they should be fine sha.

Tomiyasu owes Arsenal a lot, he needs to fucking find a way to keep fit. Him and Gabby should start look for clubs else where.

I think we should just move on from Tomiyasu. Then we get two more defenders in the summer. Maybe we can snatch one from these small EPL teams.

Fkforyou:
I was just thinking about this few days back.

If this Baba get injury, who do we have as his direct replacement, I know Timber can play that position, but I mean, ” like for like” in terms of Intelligence, Composure, Control.

Now, I’m wondering why did this thought cross my mind. I guess this season has made me frantic with injuries here and there.

Again, Strikers are our concern at the moment, but our defense no want dey stable due to injuries.

The positive is that White and Tomiyasu are back in training. Make Saliba just hang on a bit till White get full fitness Abeg.

I don't think we can find like for like replacement for Saliba currently. He is in a league of his own. The most feasible option is to build a different CB partnership.

The injury is minor from my POV so he should be back soon. And yea, I'm glad White is back and knowing him so well, he would want to be on the pitch by next weekend.

Shegzdave:
Is it confirmed?

He didn't train yesterday due to harmstring issue according to report.

He might pass a late fitness test sha but the chance is slim. Maldini has been called up from the academy.

Kiwior against Villa in a must win game? Eeiiii God

Shegzdave:
Wahala just Dey follow Arteta everywhere

I noticed he was limping few minutes to the end of that Spurs game. But I no too think am because he was running around after the match alongside Gabriel.

Now that White is closed to returning, guess who is battling with fitness.... Saliba.

Can this injury just free us abeg

Mikel Arteta on Myles Lewis-Skelly's positional change: "I had said to him, "If you want to play, it'll be this (left back) position."

“I spoke to him and said I think this is where you’re going to have it, because I think it fits a lot of his qualities, the way that we play and it fits because we had necessities in the position, so we started to work on that.

“He got into it straight away with the personality that he has. I think it’s very obvious and now he’s doing it.”

“I think it’s very rare to see 18-year-olds playing against Kulusevski and Johnson in a big London derby for the first time to perform with that composure, attitude and that control emotionally,”

“It makes everybody at the club very proud because he’s been in our system for a long time.”

Reflecting on the player’s progress since he was first tested in the position in pre-season, Arteta said: “Adapting to the role is not just on the defensive part. I think physically, they’re very different demands. You’re facing wingers a lot of times in that position.

“You have to be part of that defensive line. You have to know when to release, when to not, when it’s on your side how you have to defend the box – something that he wasn’t used to.

“Then all the attacking processes on top of that, so it’s quite a lot. He’s dealing with that in a great way. Physically as well he’s matured a lot in the last year or so and it was another great performance.”

As is often the case in this country, attention has already turned to whether Lewis-Skelly could be an option for new national team manager Thomas Tuchel.

“Let him settle where he is first and talk about the reality he’s got in front of him,” said Arteta. “Stick with that and I think that’s more than enough for now.”

BankyGee:
This season

1 goal
3 assists
3 big chances created
2 Team of the Week appearances
Solid defender for Everton...

Deserves a spot, maybe.

Ok man

AirBere:
Lol, why do I feel you understand what he's trying to say but just want him to elaborate more. Well, I actually understand his point though. I think there's some similarities between how both broke out to the first team. Although Kelly is more talented, both started out as midfielders, now both are currently playing as full backs. I think davep sees Kelly as a midfielder and does not what him to play as a fullback just like his counterpart Niles. May be he feels playing Kelly as a full back may hinder him from fulfilling his huge potential. With all that said, Saka, Bale and others also started out as full backs so this isn't linear and only time will tell.

This is what I feel, but davep may have other Ideas.

The Ox is also a similar example. Well, if that's what he meant, he needs to expantiate further whether the 'Niles treatment' was commendable or condemnable.

Ashley Young? How?
