Car TalkRe: Never Trust A Mechanic, My Experience With A Close One by Mottomata(m): 7:54pm On Jan 25, 2021

He didn't try to patch, that iron rod was perfectly fine. The nigga stuck those rubbers inside to prevent water passage so after a while the force of the water will make the rubber block the whole pipe when it gets to the place they bleed or is it blend the water. And I will take the car back he will fix it again and return the rubber backward and the whole stuff will be repeated. Been like that for almost 3 months and be kept making good money out of me. The most annoying thing is nigga will be deprive me the usage of my car for a week or so and come back with a bill of at least 30k telling me how bad the car gave him issues and how great a mechanic he his.
The guy's wickedness is high

Don't know what you are really talking about. But the new guy just released the whole masala while the car kept overheating and as at this afternoon, he has called to tell me he his done fixing the overheating issues and even used the car from his workshop to a very far place.
I meant that the previous mechanic should have replaced failing parts in the cooling system instead of trying to patch

Picture evidence below
Your mechanic should have requested that you change the whole assembly instead of trying to patch it. I shake my head for that mechanic.

This also applies to panel beaters. Never leave your car with them if not they'll remove your catalyst. It is a booming business for them.

If your exhaust is leaking, stay with them until they've fixed it

please put the gallon picture on the thread so that we can understand the oil and it's use. There was a product called Rymco that my friend was importing from Holland. The website of the company has an oil finder where you can find the particular oil that is suitable for the kind of car you drive. I used it and it showed me that my friend was selling the oil and it was not suitable for any range rover brand. I stopped working with him and ensured that his oil was banned in our yard as a lot of other mechanics realized that the oil dries up. Engines are becoming more expensive nowadays but I rather rebuild the engine than to buy from the open market. Tokunbo engines are not foolproof and the condition of the engine is unknown. It's like putting a new heart without knowing the status of the heart. Be wise and use the right oil for your car. Prevention is better than cure.
Please see the pictures. They are both for extended performance and high mileage (+75,000 miles) which is the situation of most cars in use in Nigeria

Car TalkRe: What To Check When Buying Nigeria Used Car by Mottomata(m): 2:16pm On Jan 23, 2021
DrAUTOCODE:
What I discovered is that Average Nigeria cars have what is called sludge and the sludge is very deadly to the life of every car. But most Nigeria mechanic will be telling u it is nothing. Pls can my ogas enlighten us about this cancer in the life of every Nigeria car, eating up the flesh and leaving us the bone.

Also check engine light.
The main reason for the sludge is because most car users do not carry out oil change as required and/or use non-recommended engine oils.

The check engine light may come on due to several factors which only a diagnostic scan will figure out.

Your 2008 Toyota Camry recommends 5w20 or 0w20 and not 5w30. But you are advised to use the 5w30 if the recommended oil is not available and revert immediately to the recommended oil. One thing that I am always curious about is that Toyota started recommending 5w20 ditto Honda 3 years before Range Rover began recommending 5w20 and many more years before they asked us to be using 0w20. When people are using Mobil 1 extended performance 5w20 on a Toyota, it's like using premium unleaded fuel on a 2007 Camry. The 5w20 recommended for Toyota cars in 2007 is not the same 5w20 recommended for a 5.0 V8 engine of a Range Rover. Waste of money. Someone asked why should royal purple API SL be rated higher than Mobil 1 API SN? For Toyota cars that requires API SL and SJ, the royal purple is very suitable for it than Mobil 1 API SN because though it is backward compatible with the lower specifications, it's better to use the one suitable for the car.
I have some 0W20 Mobil 1 available for sale. I can send it across to you in any part of Lagos

Car TalkRe: Frequent Fan Belt Cut by Mottomata(m): 7:40am On Nov 28, 2020
Did you change any component in the path of the fan belt? Like compressor etc.

Do you hear any unusual sound/noise?

You should conduct a visual inspection too or get someone qualified to check for you

I may not be able to help due to distance. However, a diagnostics scan should be the first step in order to fix the issues with your vehicle.

Car TalkRe: Abeg Wetting This Thing Mean For My Camry Big Daddy by Mottomata(m): 9:16pm On Nov 05, 2020
Check your brake fluid level. It may be below the threshold since you changed the brake pad. The mechanic may have bled the system and forgot to top up the brake fluid.
Car TalkRe: My Toyota Highlander Showing This On The Dashboard by Mottomata(m): 12:53am On Nov 05, 2020
One or more of the tyre sensors on the wheels are malfunctioning. You can run a scan to know the exact one that is faulty, then you can replace and the warning light will go off.

Good dey car gurus, please I drive a Honda baby boy, anytime I uses AC in my car enemy if it's just for 30 minutes I mus Ty visit a battery charger the next day. But if I don't use AC my battery last for long. Even if I don't drive the car for days a along as I didn't use AC whenever I crank the engine it will snap to life.
Please what exactly is going on, is it that my AC was connected directly to battery, or is my alternator gone.

Please help
cc: GAZZUZZ
cc: nurey
You most likely have an under-charging issue. The alternator is the culprit. I had a similar issue in late 2017

Please get a tyre gauge for personal use. As most vulcanizers will pump above the recommended tyre pressure.

Car TalkRe: I Do Not Trust The Cooling System Of My New Lexus ES350. by Mottomata(m): 6:55pm On Aug 27, 2020
AutoMoTech:
your vehicle is a smart one. there is a module in charge of controlling the AC system. kindly carry out a system scan to see if there is any stored codes.
also a simple visual inspection will really help. check the wiring of the fan and other related systems.
also kindly note not all vehicles act the same way. for some vehicles, the AC fan will never be turned on by the AC module if the whether is cold enough. in some it will. i have a feeling your AC might be working as it should. however get it checked (not scatter scatter o) by a competent technician...
I concur with you AutoMoTech on this.

Your cooling system works as designed.

Please ONLY run a scan and conduct visual inspection if you feel uncomfortable with your cooling system.

Plz house, recommend transmission oil for Mazda mpv 2003
If it is an automatic transmission use a dextron II. Walk into any Total filling Station to get total transmission fluid. It cost about #600 per liter
