Imagine if every person in Africa saw the “Africa for Norway”-video, and this was the only information they ever got about Norway. What would they think about Norway?

According to you General shuwa encouraged the massacre of igbos during the kano riots.

W General hile according to the renowned lawyer and activist shuwa actually did all he could to curb that.. but perhaps u didn't read that post.
PoliticsRe: Major General Mohammed Shuwa Shot Dead, By Gun Men! by moxamet(m): 9:32pm On Nov 02, 2012
Dede1: Major General Mohammed Mamman Shuwa allowed ethnic sentiments to ruin his military career and so shall it be. After Ironsi was killed, the pogrom followed. It must be recall that Lt. Col. Mohammed Mamman Shuwa, as the commander of 5th Battalion Nigerian army Kano, encouraged soldiers under his command to massacre innocent easterners in northern region. This unbecoming behavior of a Sandhurst trained officer such as Shuwa was in sharp contrast to Ojukwu as the commander of 5th Battalion on January 15, 1966. I guess the evil that men do lives after them.

Major Nzeogwu had sent Lt Oji to 5th battalion requesting Ojukwu’s help to sustain the coup instead the 5th battalion commander locked up Lt Oji and sent a message to the boys in Kaduna to ready for assault from Kano.
So who is lying; you or femi fani kayode ?

U no get shame.

Avicenna: I am a regular poster in other threads except religion. I have followed most threads here without ever commenting. I must say,I came here confused and ignorant about my former religion-Islam. But Nairaland religious section opened my eyes. I searched, researched and after deep reflections, I concluded that all religions are fraudulent and the notion of a almighty God is flawed and won't hold up to rigorous scrutiny.
I used a new I.D to post this because I still remain in the closet. As a religious leader of some of my peeps, it will come as too much of a shock. Their reactions may be harsh. The reason I posted this is that some people are also atheists but due to a fear of being ostracised, they remain quiet. I want you to know you are not alone.
@ OP

Being in the medical profession aswell and going through a similar phase in my life i fully empathize with you.....

I think faith has 3 different stages

1. Indoctrination
2. De-doctrination
3. Personal Truth

Interestingly majority of people live out their entire lives in the "Indoctrinated" stage. Now there is nothing wrong with that as long as they let others develop their personal truth.. but sadly our present religious culture strongly discourages such scrutiny.

As regards to God however.. i think it is like Being in Love.. Sometimes you're in love sometimes you're not, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist existence..

I think you are very interesting Avicenna, and i would like to know u more if u dnt mind..what's ur email...?

HealthRe: What Tips Do You Have To A Flatter Tummy? by moxamet(m): 3:07pm On Mar 14, 2012
Losing that last layer of belly fat is something many people desire yet it seems ever so elusive, most common reason of failing to achieve it not the lack of excercise but a matter of complex chemistry( or simple nutrition)
I'm gonna break it down for u as simply as i can.

What you should understand is that if you have a low BMI then that layer of Fat is actually mostly trapped water!

And the reason why you can get rid of it is solely due to nutrition.

A diet rich in carbs and salt, like most nigerian dishes is in no way compatible with a completely flat belly unless you do enough excercise to burn off alot of calories.

Even if you manage to burn of the calories, Carbs and Salt naturally cause water retention in the body, so you are always left with a layer of smooth soft fat/water covering your belly, thighs and butt (Sexiii wink

So a sure way of getting rid of belly fat/water is to try one of the low carb diets. There are quite a few of them out there.. like Atkins, South beach, LCHF e.t.c just google it and see.

Its always fun to try new things and experiment with your body a bit. ust make sure you get enough of the vital nutrients, i.e Proteins, vitamins and essential fats.

Hope this helps.

PoliticsEnglish Transcript Of The New Boko Haram Video! by moxamet(op): 1:46pm On Jan 12, 2012
Thanks be to God and Greetings to the community (Nigerians), and special greetings to the President Goodluck Jonathan.
This is an exposition to Goodluck Jonathan and the Christian leaderAnd a sermon to the general public.

We are jamaatul ahalil sunna liddawati wal jihad also known to the public by the demeaning alias BOKO HARAM which they’ve assigned to us.
We’ve given expositions and said all that ought to be said;
and everyone has seen what has been done to us,
everyone has seen what has been met to us,
and everyone has seen what has been ensuing between us and the armed forces who’ve been assigned to eliminate us, and those among the general public that have been exposing us to the armed forces so that they may persecute us.

And ultimately to Christians whom everyone knows what they’ve done to us and what they’ve done to muslims generally till date.
The ultimate reason for this exposition was Jonathan and Christian leaders’ speech about us, in which they say “we are a cancer to the nation”
But I say we are neither a cancer nor a sickness, neither are we out to cause harm to the public.
If the people don’t know us, then God knows everyone.
Everyone knows the manner in which our late leader was murdered, and the wickedness that was met to our community/organization afterwards.

And everyone is aware of the kind of wickedness met to the people of this nation times without number for example the people of Zango Kataf, Tafawa Balewa, Kaduna and smaller towns and villages such as Langtan and Yelwashuda and Lagos.
These are examples of the innumerable injustices that have happened times without number in this country.
Therefore we thank God (and it is obvious that We are not a cancer nor a disease)
Catastrophe is caused by disbelief, unrest is disbelief, and injustice is disbelief,
And it is obvious that democracy is disbelief and the constitution is disbelief.

It is also obvious that there are things which God has clearly forbade in his book in countless instances, which are common practice in western schools and propagated by society.

Our mission is nothing more than calling society to the path of God, its is only by this path that we may live in peace and have peace of mind – that is what God has decreed. So If we don’t follow this path there will be no peace.
That is what we’ve been saying till the authorities got fed up and decided we ought to be eliminated.
We were killed our mosques were demolished and as if that was not enough, we were chased, hunted and harassed. – So we decided to stand up for ourselves.
And God acted on our side, because He gives strength and victory to those who follow him.
And that was what happened and has been happening.

Therefore, you should know Jonathan, that this thing is bigger than you, its not our work, its Gods work – so you might as well save your breath and let things happen.
Because even before he created the world, he had predestined this to happen, and he promised in his book that he will protect his religion.
Therefore it is beyond your powers, it is not we who are responsible – everything you’ve seen unfolding – it is God that is responsible for it.
It is because you’ve transgressed him and refused to follow him, because you humiliated him and his religion. – Therefore Jonathan, the matter is out of your hands.
So in the event that some among your government and institution sympathize and support us, it shouldn’t surprise you, it has happened many times – and our arms are wide open to whomever thinks what we’re doing is right, but our arms are tied to whomever decides not to follow God – even if they love us.
We can only preach to them to love God first before we can walk the path together. – This is a fact that should be known.

Christians, you should know that Jesus followed God, he was a servant of God, a prophet and messenger of God not the Son of God.
Therefore this religion of yours is not God’s religion. It is disbelief, forbidden by God therefore what you’re practicing is not religion.
And on that basis you arose and maligned us, and killed us and ate our flesh, and did all that you have done, and defiled us, and inspite of that we tried to preach to you to draw you to the path, to become Muslims, as God instructed us, so that we may walk together but you turned and killed us, and defiled our wives.

And now you’re leader is calling you in crowds to come out and take vengeance on us and do whatever you want to us.
Yet it is obvious to whom ever has got a sense what he is actually implying.
Nevertheless we shall not just come out and fight anybody without following the rules laid down in our holy book.
Therefore I as the leader of this group am asking you to just ask for forgiveness /repent.
Christians repent! That is my call to you – this work we’re doing is not our work, it is Gods work.
Muslims understand us!  We have no intention of killing, humiliating or looting anyone.
I am saying this because it has become imperative to explain myself, otherwise I would only explain myself to my Creator, but of course he already knows.  He knows whatever I hide or expose, he is omniscient. And God cannot be humiliated and God will take action on whomever is unjust to the people.

You should all know we have no other mission than to help the religion of God, that is all I’m going to say but if you seek further understanding then find our numerous videos and cassettes so that you may know what we are about.
And my final message to the president of Nigeria – Jonathan, who has spoken about us numerous times and recently just because God gave us success in one of our recent missions.
The level of machinations that began as if that was the first time such incidents have happened… for the past ten and something years we’ve been persecuted and Oh God is King, God is King God is enough for us.
We follow God, we do not intend to harm except those who harm us, this mission we are on is God’s work.
They are examples  and lessons from Gods book and the hadith of the prophet which we have read and we’re now emulating.

(To the muslims again) – we are not out to hurt anyone but whomsoever among you dares to stands in our way, then they should not count on the number of times a day they pray, or how long thy spend in the mosque.
The prophet Muhammad (pbuh), destroyed many mosques and ordered for some people to be killed even If they were found hiding in the cloths of the ka’abah
{He gives an example of one such instances, but to vague for me to be able to translate}
Therefore don’t masquerade yourself as a muslim and think you can stand in our way if we find you we shall kill you because to us Killing is as easy and rewarding as our five daily prayers.
Since when we are caught we are also killed and we agree to that -  infact we pray to be killed.  We pray to be killed fighting for God’s cause that is what we are desperately striving after.
We are just desperate to see God’s religion succeed and our lives spent in that cause making us also successful – so we may attain the highest paradise in the afterlife.

If you claim that we are lost or that we are on the wrong path, well you are entitled to your own opinion. We know what we have read and the books that are close to our hearts – The Qur’an God’s book.
Thank God, these are the things I wanted to clarify on behalf of my organization, and I hope it is enough  clarification for all to understand.
And about negotiations – we are ready to negotiate if it is presented to us in a way that God has permitted us to accept.
Of course we do not the negotiate the way the infidels want us to negotiate, we negotiate the way God has allowed us to negotiate. There are instances in which he permits us and there are other instances in which he prohibits us, it is all in the Qur’an.
And we have seen how the examples of the prophet, and the examples of our predecessors, and what we keep saying everyday is that it is SALAF whom we follow, that is our path, we don’t touch anyone else.
So Thank God, that is all I have to say.

These Medical treatment Escapades that our elites are so accustomed to nowadays, is a very serious matter oh! Infact, it was this recent Yar'adua - Saudi Arabia incident that highlighted how critical the situation has become. At home our resident doctors are frustrated by government's seemingly negligent attitude to their working conditions, which comes as no surprise because, the millions $$$ that are pocketed by these same leaders, guarantees them and their families, so to speak, an 'easy' way out from the mess that they themselves are perpetuating. I am a med student, resident in europe, but i've worked in a few nigerian hospitals, and honestly, these guys are trying with the little that is at their disposal. Nigerian doctors working abroad are generally considered to be among the best, it is a shame that government has still failed to bring about positive changes that may attract us back, or even prevent the bright ones at home from leaving to places with better working conditions.
I heard  that a former Nigerian governor from the south owns a multi million-dollar, ultra-modern hospital in South Africa, what is the meaning of that!
PoliticsCbn Governor, Sanusi's Wake-up Call For Nigerians! by moxamet(op): 5:52am On Dec 19, 2009
The Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi at the Muson Centre in Lagos .

The book titled: *“ Nigeria , Africa ’s failed asset?”* attracted many important dignitaries, intellectuals and some governors.

The argument by discussants centered on whether or not the colonial masters laid the foundation for the problems Nigeria is currently facing. Many argued that the British loved the North and that was why it gave more than 5o percent of the National Assembly seats to the North at independence.

Sanusi, however, stole the show when he spoke. His speech was anchored on the plank that the British and Nigerian rulers are responsible for the state of the situation Nigeria finds itself today.

Below is his unedited speech.

“Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation.

“My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I can not forgive people of my generation speaking in that language.

“Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around.

Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria . Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as bakane. The man from Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other.

“The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now said it was a Muslim North.

“The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria . Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is ours.

Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any past of this country has produced good leaders.

You talk about Babangida and the economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North?

“We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, that there will be a course of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her?

“We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not.

“The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal.

Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they seat down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state.

“So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria . The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South. The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two at independence) . What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India . So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North).

“I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows me. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro-democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)?

“There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth.

“Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria . It is better if we are united than to divide it.

“Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta, Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political enlity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you can not share our resources.

“There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature.

“So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?”, he said

‘Abacha was a student of school of assasins’- The NATION, Lagos
Written by Adewale Adeoye
Saturday, 06 June 2009 22:24
Prof. Taiyewo Ogunade, a musicologist at the City University, New York was a close friend of
Late Abacha, he spoke of his experiences to Wle Adeoye of the Nation newspapers in Lagos

General Sanni Abacha died exactly a decade ago, what does that mean to you?

To me, I feel I lost a friend, but then, as a democrat, I don’t lose too much because I believe in
democracy and then Abacha didn’t believe in that. That is the dividing point between the two of
us. I met him immediately Babangida took over in 1985. And they invited all of us to Kuru, near
Jos, most of us intellectuals, for a debate on Nigeria’s foreign policy. And we were put in a
famous hotel called Hotel Thirty. While the conference was on, the Department of Political
Science of the Ahmadu Bello University, led by Professor Bala Usman came with a document in
which they catalogued all the rich Nigerians. They called it from Balewa to Babangida and they
were distributing it to selected people.

But, the security got angry and wanted to recover it while we were in the conference hall. That
was how I met Abacha. They were trying to struggle and take it from me and Abacha said,
‘leave him alone’. I never met him (Abacha) before, I didn’t know who he was. So, he gave me
protection and by the time I got it, he said well, are you going to drive with me to town? I never
even asked who he was. It was when we got to his car that I saw it was a military car.
Babangida was there and we were talking about Nigerian political affairs. So, he took me to
town. That was how I was able to escape with my two copies without them being confiscated
like others. And from then, we became friendly.

I use to go to his office when I had the time and from there to his guest house. By the time we
would get to the gate of his guest house on Raymond Njoku, girls would be at the gate, as many
as twenty of them. When they see his car, all of them would stand up. As he is driving in, he
would bring down his glasses, point to about six or eight of them for security to allow them come
into the house. He is a person who likes women all the time. It was a daily routine that he does.
And so, when I wrote a musical on Cyprian Ekwensi’s ‘Passport of Mallam Ilia’ which I turned
into an opera, I needed a band to perform it. Abacha was able to give me a note to the army
band. So, I went to the army band and then, I started rehearsing with the Nigerian Army band
that played the music for me. But, then, Tunde Akogun was giving us so much trouble. He didn’t
want us to rehearse at the National Theatre. Each time we wanted to have rehearsal there, he
would turn us down. He was driving away my artistes. So, I went to Sani Abacha again that
Akogun keeps disturbing us. Abacha would say, ‘don’t worry, I would talk to them which he
would do’. When Fela Anikulapo Kuti finally came out of prison, I was doing the Fela musicals
and he heard that Fela was coming once in a while when we were rehearsing. So, he came to
meet Fela and they had a very wonderful rapport. For about two or three days, he was coming

because Fela was coming there to rehearse. And finally, he gave me money to pay for the
theatre and do the musical. That was the last thing I did before I left Nigeria.

Can you give psychoanalysis of Abacha?

You see, Abacha has a very reserved mentality. Abacha would listen to you; he would make
very little comments or none. But, therein, he has known what he wants to do. But, he is a very
jovial person who plays around with teasing you and doing everything. But, he is not an
outspoken person. Abacha never discussed Nigeria with anybody as far as I know. He never
discussed Nigerian politics, but he likes to discuss entertainment, films and what not. I’m
amazed that he ended up acquiring that kind of money that he did. But, I know from my own
judgment that being product of the ’College of Assassin’, that is what they are trained to do.

What is the history of that college?

The college was established in the 1940s in Fort Benning, Georgia. It’s a big college. I think it’s
about 22 miles radius. And they have all kinds of things there. All the Latin American dictators
went through there. Like Argentina’s Pinochet, Panamas’ Noriega, most Vietnamese military
leaders went there, Kagame of Rwanda went there. I was there when Kagame graduated and
we became good friends. And the young Kabila went there. But he didn’t finish. I think he was a
year there before Collin Powell took him out and made him head of state in the Republic of
Congo. But Abacha went there.

Is he the only person that went there from Nigeria?

I believe he is the only one. Bolaji Johnson went to the Rangers College in Indiana. He was
the first military person to go to America for military training. Abacha is the only one that went to
the Fort Benning School that I know.

What is the kind of training?

They train them how to disorganise a whole country and become dictators. They train them
how to kill people. There was a series of twelve tapes made by Edward Kennedy that showed
what type of activities went on there. He was the one that got the American Congress to call it
the ‘College of Assassin.’ They teach you to fight lions barehanded, to fight crocodiles, so, you
become quite fearless. They show you lots of blood activities, so that shedding people’s blood
don’t move your emotions anymore.

At what period in time did he attend the school?

It must have been the early eighties because he was given the Grand Order of that school by
Collin Powell in 1986. They gave him a best student award. And we tackled Collin Powell
because he was a product of my school at the City University. And he said that he was a good
student. And I am amazed today I am reading in the papers that he said he warned him about
what he was doing. So, they were very good buddies. They related well. You and Abacha were
very friendly, when did it all turn around?

I was out of the country when he became head of state. When Ken Saro-Wiwa was killed, I
lost confidence in him. He killed Ken Saro-Wiwa. For that, I don’t think I wanted to relate with
him. I knew Ken as a good friend and I didn’t feel comfortable that he should have been killed.
Abacha knew Ken well too. They were very good friends. So, it is not that he doesn’t know who
Ken Saro-Wiwa was. But, if it happened to Ken, it could happen to me.

Did you get close to any of his children, or family?

No. Like I said, he has a routine when he leaves the military headquarters at 1:00pm. It is
either you see him at the office or at the guest house. By 11:00pm, he goes home to sleep. So,
his family is never in the guest house. They don’t come there at all. Himself, Jerry Useni,
Gwadabe and some other people are the ones always there. So, you were not surprised about
the story that he was killed by women.

No. Even at my playhouse, we used to joke about it because when he comes for rehearsal, he
would be asking me, which of these girls I should take away. I would say, sir, these girls are
artistes. I cannot order anyone of them to go with you. One of my girls slapped him one day and
I was shocked. I don’t know what he did to the girl, but the girl smacked him. He must have
done something stupid to the girl. You said that Abacha and Babangida were all together….

Yes, actually I knew two people before I knew Abacha. I knew Mamman Vasta and Babangida.
I knew them during the war. They were both colonels and I knew their wives. They were three
girls - Ada who became Ada Vasta, Maryam who became Maryam Babangida, and another girl
we knew as Chinyere. She became the famous Gloria Okon. She was married to Jeff Chadler a
Tiv who was a Lieutenant Colonel of Tiv extraction. He was the one who killed Nzeogwu when
Nzeogwu was captured at the Nsukka sector. They were bringing him to Kaduna but when he
heard, he went on the road and killed him. And he too was killed that night that he killed
Nzeogwu. Now, the wife, I knew her as Chinyere. The three of them (Babangida’s wife, Vasta’s
wife, and Chinyere) were staying at No. 27 Adeniji street in Surulere. So, when her husband
was killed, she started trading and going to London. Something happened and she was arrested
by the Customs for trying to take money out of the country. Mrs. Babangida had to intervene
and got Vasta to go there and deceive journalists that she died. And they took them to the Kano
mortuary and showed them the body of a dead woman.

  How do I know this?

When Vasta was arrested for coup, Vasta refused to talk to interrogators because he was a
Major General. But, he said he would give his testimony at the trial. So, at his trial, he gave a
four hour testimony and made sure that the tape of that testimony was sent to me to take to his
wife. From that tape, we were able to get information that Gloria Okon did not die and that
Gloria Okon had just had a baby with somebody in England.

Now, for you journalists, the aspect that will interest you is that Dele Giwa got to know that I
had the tape of Vasta’s testimony. So, he came to me and I loaned him the tape. He listened to
the tape and commissioned somebody in England to trace Gloria Okon. And fortunately for
them, Gloria Okon and Maryam Babangida were celebrating the child naming of Gloria Okon’s
baby. They got the pictures and Kayode Soyinka brought the pictures to Giwa in Lagos. Dele
Giwa then took the pictures and went to Babangida and said, ‘I want to be minister of
information or I will destroy you. These are pictures of your wife doing this with Gloria Okon.’
And so, they tricked him and got rid of him in 48 hours.

Vasta testified for four hours and sent the tape to me. I was there the day he was killed. His
wife called me early in the morning and said they were going to move them and that I should go
to Kirikiri. Then, I was living in my house at Festac. And I took the waterside by the Vanguard
Newspapers. As I was arriving at Kirikiri, at about seven o’clock in the morning, I saw Black
Marias moving off. They told me, ‘that’s Vasta and his people. They just killed them.’ They shot
them at 6:00am. So, I followed the Black Marias in a taxi. By the time we got to Iyana Isolo, we
lost them. At that time, there was no okada. I knew they were going to Atan Cemetery. So,
when I got to Atan Cemetery, they had already buried them in a mass grave and threw acid on
them. Then, Tunji Abayomi, a Lieutenant Colonel who led the corpse there, drove back and
said, ‘where is Vasta’s watch?’. Vasta had given instructions that if they killed him, they should
send his watch to his wife so that his wife would know that he is dead. He had a Rolex watch.’
The attendants were relunctant to open up. So, he just said, line them up, and let me shoot all
of them. So, one of them threw the watch down. Then, another guy was trying to hide Martin
Luther’s chain, a gold chain that had the number of his bank account in a Swiss bank. So, he
threw the chain to my direction and I just put my foot on it and I was looking at them. So, the
guy took the watch and drove away and I took the chain. I went to Daily Times. Titus Soyombo
was the Evening Times editor. So, I told him that they have killed Vasta. He asked me, ‘are you
sure’? I said yes. He withdrew his paper and made the first headline, ‘Vasta would die today if
Babaginda does not intervene.’ Less than forty minutes after, the military came and started
ransacking the whole of The Times. So, we went opposite The Times where they sell food those
days and sat down there. That day, he sold about 400,000 copies of the paper because they
made five editions of the paper. So, when the government got to know that the newspaper was
in circulation, they sent Admiral Aikhomu to go on the air by 2:00pm to say that by 4:0pm today,
Vasta would be executed. Whereas, they had been executed in the morning.

Is it true that he (Vasta) was IBB’s best friend when he (IBB) got married?

Not only was he his best friend, IBB grew up in his father’s house. Now, he was the one who
christened one of IBB’s daughter. They are very, very close, because hardly would you see
Vasta without seeing Babangida. It is Abacha that I got close to later. But, with IBB and Vasta, I
knew them from the time Sir Harold Wilson (former British Prime Minister) came. The day
Adekunle killed the guy in the Delta, Isaac Boro. We went with the observer team to
Port-Harcourt. Isaac Boro was the leader of the group that liberated Port-Harcourt and then
declared Republic of the Niger Delta there. And then, Adekunle was taking. You know,
Adekunle was always stealing money then. He would come and blackmail Gowon. Gowon
would tell him to go to Central Bank and carry four or five lorries to Central Bank, load them with
money. Halfway, he would divert it back to Lagos, he would then take half to the front. So, the
British Prime Minister came on that day. We were on the observer team with Harold Wilson
when we got to Port-Harcourt. Boro did not allow the British team, so when Adekunle came, he
was so furious and then they fought for about thirty minutes before they captured him.
