Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, a close ally of President Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that the president has a right to seek re-election in 2015. Mr. Akpabio made the assertion in a chat with State House correspondents where he discussed the outcome of Sunday’s meeting between Mr. Jonathan and several aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party. The meeting took place at the Presidential Villa. Excerpts: On yesterday's temporary peace accord: Well, what you heard is true. The PDP family is coming back together. We have started a process of total reconciliation. And, of course, you know the house is very large, very robust, and [the] PDP is very entrenched and there is no way we can have internal wrangling without being able to resolve [it]. So, clearly speaking, it was just a family disagreement and the processes are in place now to bring everybody on board and Nigerians are very happy. I have received a lot of calls from party faithful across the entire country. And people are happy, stakeholders are happy that the family is coming back as one strong family. On the conditions for reconciliation: The disagreement differs from state to state. So, it wasn't as if there was a major issue with all PDP governors. There were [a] few states that had difficulties. Some states complained about may be their delegates were not allowed entry to Eagles Square, some complained about party positions and some had court issues. But these are all things that we cannot allow to affect the fabric of the party and, of course, by implication the fabric of the nation because the PDP is Nigeria. We have been in power for the past 14 years and Nigerians have confidence that this is the only truly national party that expresses true aspirations of all and sundry. And, of course, it is also the only party that is not owned by any individual. It's a party that belongs to all Nigerians. Even the market woman in Sokoto claims ownership of the PDP and, of course, the same thing with the trader in Akwa Ibom State. [It’s] the same thing with somebody in the south west and the same thing in [the] south east. So, the PDP is Nigeria and so anything that affects the PDP will affect the entire country. And so that is why we commend the President for the peace process, for his humility and for his decision to be a father to all and for behaving like a good shepherd where if one single sheep goes astray, he abandons the 99 to go and pick that one. And that was the spirit and everybody is coming on board now. That process is going to be concluded on the 7th of October. We are all very excited. On the three issues raised by aggrieved governors: That is why I said that the processes are on and, of course, on the issue of 2015, both sides agreed that it wasn't an issue for discussion because every single person has a right to have ambition. Some of the governors may have ambition like I have ambition to go to Senate and you can't discuss anything about another person's ambition. You are the only person that can discuss your own ambition. Ambition is personal. So both parties agreed to that. In all other issues, we have put in place methodologies of settling them and of course it's a process issue. [The] process is on. It was in the first place an internal issue of the PDP and so we are going to settle it internally and if you want to know how it is going to be settled, then you have to leave being a journalist to join the PDP family. On whether the opposition will feast on PDP crisis: In the first place, the controversy was too minor for the opposition to feast on. Which opposition are you talking about? Is it APC? Well, you know, the only thing I can see for the APC, in 2015 they will change their name. They normally change names. That is the only thing I know. I think they used to be AC, later they changed to ACN, then of course they now linked it with CPC and now they turn to APC and by 2015 it will be Panadol. www.saharareporters.com/news-page/jonathan-has-right-re-contest-–-akpabio |

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Saturday married, Zarha, the daughter of a one-time FCT Minister, Ibrahim Bunu. The wedding “fatiha’’, which took place at the National Mosque, Abuja, was conducted by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Ustaz Musa Mohammed, who prayed for the success of the marriage. Dignitaries at the wedding include Vice- President Namadi Sambo, two former Heads of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, and members of the National Assembly. The reception, which was held at the ThisDay Dome in the city-centre, was attended by Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state, the Acting Governor of Taraba, Garba Umar, Senators Andy Uba and Paulinus Igwe. Others dignitaries at the reception include the former Chief Security Officer to late Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha, business moguls, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola as well as Akin Oshuntokun, a former Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Adamu Bello, who spoke on behalf of the bride’s family, described the turnout for the marriage as “fantastic’’ and expressed gratitude to Allah for the event. Mr. Bello urged the couple to live according to Islamic tenets for the success of the marriage. In his remark, Mr. Oshuntokun also noted that the large turnout was a reflection of the goodwill which the I-G had from all the nooks and crannies of the country. fijiano202: if Jesus is God and mary is the mother of God,my question is do you mean Jesus brothers and Sisters Are god and Goddess? cos its clearly stated in the bible that Jesus has brothers and Sisters, one of them is name Simon, try to confirm thisThe Gospels are also very clear that Mary was a virgin at the time she conceived Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit (cf. Mt 1:18-25, Lk 1:26-38). Remember when the Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary God's plan, she responded, "How can this be, since I do not know man?" After the birth of our Lord, although the Gospels do not give us many details of His childhood, no mention is made of Mary and Joseph ever having other children. Never does it refer to the "sons of Mary" or "a son of Mary," but only the son of Mary. This point is again corroborated at the crucifixion scene: Before He dies, our Lord says to Mary, "Woman, there is your son," and then to St. John, who is definitely not a blood brother, "There is your mother." Therefore, as Catholics, based on Sacred Scripture and Tradition, we do not believe that Mary and Joseph had other children and consequently that Jesus had blood brothers and sisters. |

This is total rascality and show of miss-use of power. Amaechi remains and elected state and not subject to anybody than Rivers people who elected him. Please someone should advise our president to kindly slow down his approach on Gov. Amaechi. Amaechi has already proven to be a hard nut to crack and he is ready for any kind of belligerence. What a ridicule to the office of a state governor. All these atrocities being committed by the executive, and the national assembly are keeping quiet, afterall these does not affect their allowances and constituency projects. Shame on them. The police is being used to muscle a state governor in a democrasy. What a country. |
Police Prevent Governor Amaechi From Entering Government Huose In Port Harcourt A police detachment in Port Harcourt has prevented the convoy of the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi from using one of the two entrances to the government house earlier today. The governor's convoy was stopped as it made it way to through the Fortes road entrance by four truck loads of policemen led by several senior officers. John Cassian "Now, you heretic, you say (whoever you are who deny that God was born of the Virgin), that Mary, the Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, cannot be called the Mother of God, but the Mother only of Christ and not of God —for no one, you say, gives birth to one older than herself. And concerning this utterly stupid argument . . . let us prove by divine testimonies both that Christ is God and that Mary is the Mother of God" (On the Incarnation of Christ Against Nestorius 2:2 [A.D. 429]). "You cannot then help admitting that the grace comes from God. It is God, then, who has given it. But it has been given by our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore the Lord Jesus Christ is God. But if he is God, as he certainly is, then she who bore God is the Mother of God" (ibid., 2:5). Council of Ephesus "We confess, then, our Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, perfect God and perfect man, of a rational soul and a body, begotten before all ages from the Father in his Godhead, the same in the last days, for us and for our salvation, born of Mary the Virgin according to his humanity, one and the same consubstantial with the Father in Godhead and consubstantial with us in humanity, for a union of two natures took place. Therefore we confess one Christ, one Son, one Lord. According to this understanding of the unconfused union, we confess the holy Virgin to be the Mother of God because God the Word took flesh and became man and from his very conception united to himself the temple he took from her" (Formula of Union [A.D. 431]). Vincent of Lerins "Nestorius, whose disease is of an opposite kind, while pretending that he holds two distinct substances in Christ, brings in of a sudden two persons, and with unheard-of wickedness would have two sons of God, two Christs,—one, God, the other, man; one, begotten of his Father, the other, born of his mother. For which reason he maintains that Saint Mary ought to be called, not the Mother of God, but the Mother of Christ" (The Notebooks 12[35] [A.D. 434]). |
Athanasius "The Word begotten of the Father from on high, inexpressibly, inexplicably, incomprehensibly, and eternally, is he that is born in time here below of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God" (The Incarnation of the Word of God 8 [A.D. 365]). Epiphanius of Salamis "Being perfect at the side of the Father and incarnate among us, not in appearance but in truth, he [the Son] reshaped man to perfection in himself from Mary the Mother of God through the Holy Spirit" (The Man Well-Anchored 75 [A.D. 374]). Ambrose of Milan "The first thing which kindles ardor in learning is the greatness of the teacher. What is greater than the Mother of God? What more glorious than she whom Glory Itself chose?" (The Virgins 2:2[7] [A.D. 377]). Gregory of Nazianz "If anyone does not agree that holy Mary is Mother of God, he is at odds with the Godhead" (Letter to Cledonius the Priest 101 [A.D. 382]). Jerome "As to how a virgin became the Mother of God, he [Rufinus] has full knowledge; as to how he himself was born, he knows nothing" (Against Rufinus 2:10 [A.D. 401]). "Do not marvel at the novelty of the thing, if a Virgin gives birth to God" (Commentaries on Isaiah 3:7:15 [A.D. 409]). Theodore of Mopsuestia "When, therefore, they ask, ‘Is Mary mother of man or Mother of God?’ we answer, ‘Both!’ The one by the very nature of what was done and the other by relation" (The Incarnation 15 [A.D. 405]). Cyril of Alexandria "I have been amazed that some are utterly in doubt as to whether or not the holy Virgin is able to be called the Mother of God. For if our Lord Jesus Christ is God, how should the holy Virgin who bore him not be the Mother of God?" (Letter to the Monks of Egypt 1 [A.D. 427]).[b][/b][font=Lucida Sans Unicode][/font] |
Irenaeus "The Virgin Mary, being obedient to his word, received from an angel the glad tidings that she would bear God" (Against Heresies, 5:19:1 [A.D. 189]). Hippolytus "[T]o all generations they [the prophets] have pictured forth the grandest subjects for contemplation and for action. Thus, too, they preached of the advent of God in the flesh to the world, his advent by the spotless and God-bearing (theotokos) Mary in the way of birth and growth, and the manner of his life and conversation with men, and his manifestation by baptism, and the new birth that was to be to all men, and the regeneration by the laver [of baptism]" (Discourse on the End of the World 1 [A.D. 217]). Gregory the Wonderworker "For Luke, in the inspired Gospel narratives, delivers a testimony not to Joseph only, but also to Mary, the Mother of God, and gives this account with reference to the very family and house of David" (Four Homilies 1 [A.D. 262]). "It is our duty to present to God, like sacrifices, all the festivals and hymnal celebrations; and first of all, [the feast of] the Annunciation to the holy Mother of God, to wit, the salutation made to her by the angel, ‘Hail, full of grace!’" (ibid., 2). Peter of Alexandria "They came to the church of the most blessed Mother of God, and ever-virgin Mary, which, as we began to say, he had constructed in the western quarter, in a suburb, for a cemetery of the martyrs" (The Genuine Acts of Peter of Alexandria [A.D. 305]). "We acknowledge the resurrection of the dead, of which Jesus Christ our Lord became the firstling; he bore a body not in appearance but in truth derived from Mary the Mother of God" (Letter to All Non- Egyptian Bishops 12 [A.D. 324]). Methodius "While the old man [Simeon] was thus exultant, and rejoicing with exceeding great and holy joy, that which had before been spoken of in a figure by the prophet Isaiah, the holy Mother of God now manifestly fulfilled" (Oration on Simeon and Anna 7 [A.D. 305]). "Hail to you forever, you virgin Mother of God, our unceasing joy, for unto you do I again return. . . . Hail, you fount of the Son’s love for man. . . . Wherefore, we pray you, the most excellent among women, who boast in the confidence of your maternal honors, that you would unceasingly keep us in remembrance. O holy Mother of God, remember us, I say, who make our boast in you, and who in august hymns celebrate your memory, which will ever live, and never fade away" (ibid., 14). Cyril of Jerusalem "The Father bears witness from heaven to his Son. The Holy Spirit bears witness, coming down bodily in the form of a dove. The archangel Gabriel bears witness, bringing the good tidings to Mary. The Virgin Mother of God bears witness" (Catechetical Lectures 10:19 [A.D. 350]). Ephraim the Syrian "Though still a virgin she carried a child in her womb, and the handmaid and work of his wisdom became the Mother of God" (Songs of Praise 1:20 [A.D. 351]). |
Fundamentalists are sometimes horrified when the Virgin Mary is referred to as the Mother of God. However, their reaction often rests upon a misapprehension of not only what this particular title of Mary signifies but also who Jesus was, and what their own theological forebears, the Protestant Reformers, had to say regarding this doctrine. A woman is a man’s mother either if she carried him in her womb or if she was the woman contributing half of his genetic matter or both. Mary was the mother of Jesus in both of these senses; because she not only carried Jesus in her womb but also supplied all of the genetic matter for his human body, since it was through her—not Joseph—that Jesus "was descended from David according to the flesh" (Rom. 1:3). Since Mary is Jesus’ mother, it must be concluded that she is also the Mother of God: If Mary is the mother of Jesus, and if Jesus is God, then Mary is the Mother of God. There is no way out of this logical syllogism, the valid form of which has been recognized by classical logicians since before the time of Christ. Although Mary is the Mother of God, she is not his mother in the sense that she is older than God or the source of her Son’s divinity, for she is neither. Rather, we say that she is the Mother of God in the sense that she carried in her womb a divine person—Jesus Christ, God "in the flesh" (2 John 7, cf. John 1:14)—and in the sense that she contributed the genetic matter to the human form God took in Jesus Christ. To avoid this conclusion, Fundamentalists often assert that Mary did not carry God in her womb, but only carried Christ’s human nature. This assertion reinvents a heresy from the fifth century known as Nestorianism, which runs aground on the fact that a mother does not merely carry the human nature of her child in her womb. Rather, she carries the person of her child. Women do not give birth to human natures; they give birth to persons. Mary thus carried and gave birth to the person of Jesus Christ, and the person she gave birth to was God. The Nestorian claim that Mary did not give birth to the unified person of Jesus Christ attempts to separate Christ’s human nature from his divine nature, creating two separate and distinctpersons—one divine and one human—united in a loose affiliation. It is therefore a Christological heresy, which even the Protestant Reformers recognized. Both Martin Luther and John Calvin insisted on Mary’s divine maternity. In fact, it even appears that Nestorius himself may not have believed the heresy named after him. Further, the "Nestorian" church has now signed a joint declaration on Christology with the Catholic Church and recognizes Mary’s divine maternity, just as other Christians do. Since denying that Mary is God’s mother implies doubt about Jesus’ divinity, it is clear why Christians (until recent times) have been unanimous in proclaiming Mary as Mother of God. The Church Fathers, of course, agreed, and the following passages witness to their lively recognition of the sacred truth and great gift of divine maternity that was bestowed upon Mary, the humble handmaid of the Lord. |

Mallam Garba Shehu, Media Adviser to Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, issued a strong statement Wednesday in Abuja defending his boss in reaction to corruption accusations made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in an EFCC magazine “Zero Tolerance”. Obasanjo had said in the interview that the former Vice President risked jail if he travelled to the United States. “The former President is wrong. It is widely known that Atiku didn’t enter government broke. He declared his assets at the commencement of his Vice Presidency and did so at the end of his term as required by the constitution, which is a sacred document to Atiku,” Garba Shehu said. According to him, “Atiku, who is currently returning from China after leading a private economic trade mission at the invitation of the Chinese government, travels often and has a well-documented record of building industries and putting thousands of Nigerians to work. And this record, quite frankly, has been thoroughly investigated.” While reiterating that Atiku has no case against him by any arm of the law in any country in the world, including the United States, Shehu observed that “President Obasanjo’s repeated ‘jokes’ about Turaki not being able to go to America have become cliché, tiresome and not true.” The Media Adviser recalled that in 2006, former President Obasanjo sent his National Security Adviser (NSA) to stop Atiku from travelling to the US, saying that the Vice President risked arrest on arrival. He said that Turaki spurned that advice, left Nigeria to land at the Andrews Air Force Base, the official airport of the US government, to receive the best reception ever on a visit to America. “So, we are used to those taunts,” he said. He noted that when the former Vice President left office shortly before late Musa Yar’Adua was inaugurated as President, Atiku spent three months in the US, adding that if they (US authorities) wanted him for anything, they would have met him. “It is time to start dealing in facts. Specifically, the fact that Atiku’s visa to visit the United States has been recently renewed. “Another fact is Atiku is one of the most investigated politicians in Nigerian history. And every investigation, whether politically motivated here at home or by the FBI abroad, has yielded the same result every time: not guilty. “If Atiku is guilty of anything, it is crushing persistent attempts at re-writing our constitution. “Atiku has chosen the path of optimism and hope. Moving forward, he will continue working to fuel Nigeria’s economy through investment and job creation, while also passionately and persistently defending our young democracy,” Garba said. www.kaaf.com/2013/09/Obasanjo-a-liar-says-Atiku-435620 |
The Alhaji Bamanga Tukur-led PDP yesterday filed a contempt process before an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, against leaders of the party's faction to prison for allegedly violating an order made by Mr. Justice Ganiyu Safari. In the motion filed on their behalf by their counsel , Mr. Ajibola Oluyede, the PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur; the Deputy National Chairman, Uche Secondus; National Women Leader, Dr. Kema Chikwe; and National Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh, want the court to commit officers of the new PDP to jail. The alleged contemnors include Alhaji Kawu Baraje, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Maode Hiliya, Timi Frank, Mrs. Binta Koje, Malam Nasir Issa, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, Aliyu Wadada and Malam Tanko Gomna. The application is different from the one filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in which the party urged the court to jail the alleged contemnors for 'appointing' Olagunsoye Oyinlola as 'National Secretary' after the court had nullified his nomination by the PDP South-West Zonal Chapter. The old PDP in this application wants the court to jail Baraje, Jaja and Oyinlola for a term of one year or as the court may otherwise determine for alleged criminal contempt which they committed 'in their conspiracy and actions to flout the purpose and authority of the court. The party argued that the named defendants obstructed the administration of justice by subverting the court's processes and engaged in overt acts of defiance and violation of an order made on September 2. It will be recalled that Justice Ganiyu Safari had ordered in a ruling that 'parties maintain the status quo ante pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction filed by the new PDP. The judge also re-affirmed the order on Monday but despite the order, the alleged contemnors were said to have opened a new office/secretariat on September 4, and appointed themselves and others into various offices constituting the PDP National Working Committee (NWC). The applicants said the 'contemnors' did so 'for the purpose of rendering the said orders of this honourable court nugatory and of no effect.' The PDP also sought an order committing the fourth to 10th alleged contemnors to prison for a term of one year for alleged criminal contempt. It said they should be jailed for 'aiding and abetting the defiance and violation of the order of this honourable court through their appointment into various offices constituting the National Working Committee (NWC) of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the purpose of rendering the said orders of this honourable court nugatory and of no effect.' Stating the grounds for the application, the PDP said: 'The plaintiffs (Baraje and others) instituted this action via a writ of summons dated September 2, 2013 and also filed a motion ex-parte for interim injunction. 'On September 2, 2013, this honourable court refused the prayer for interim injunction but rather made an order directing that 'parties maintain status quo ante pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.' 'The above order of this honourable court that parties maintain status quo ante was re-affirmed by this honourable court in the proceedings of September 9, 2013. 'Despite the said order of this honourable court directing parties to maintain status quo ante, the 1st to 3rd alleged contemnors rather than wait for the outcome of the judicial process to which they had submitted themselves and accord the requisite respect to the judiciary and due process of law, continued to parade themselves and to act as the chairman, deputy national chairman and secretary of the party respectively. 'On September 9, 2013, the 3rd alleged contemnor announced in a statement in Abuja the appointment of the alleged contemnors into various offices in the National Working Committee (NWC). 'This honorable court has the power and the responsibility, as well as other courts in the land, to shed the cloak of indignity, which the contemnors have attempted to foist upon the judiciary generally and this honourable court in particular, to rescue the authority and majesty of the courts of the land from the denigration and insult which the respondents and the alleged contemnors have conspired to assault the temple of justice with by ensuring that the alleged contemnors purge themselves of their contempt.' www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/124000/1/new-pdp-tukur-prays-court-to-jail-baraje-oyinlola-.html |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said the appointment of Mrs. Farida Waziri as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was on the recommendation of former the Delta State Governor, James Ibori who is currently serving term in a UK (United Kingdom) prison for fraud. Obasanjo, in an exclusive interview he granted Zero Tolerance, a magazine published by the EFCC, said Waziri was a wrong successor to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the pioneer chairman of the anti-graft agency and that her appointment has slowed down the fight against corruption in the country. The former President, whose administration established the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other-Related Offences Commission, stated that 'I know that the woman they brought in to replace Ribadu was not the right person for that job because I understood that one of those who head-hunted her was Ibori. If Ibori, who is now in a UK (United Kingdom) prison for fraud, head-hunts somebody who will fight corruption in Nigeria, then you can understand what happened.' To butress his argument that Waziri was a wrong person for the job, he challenged the publication to 'go and look at her track record.' 'Go and look at the condition or the qualification; go and look at the type of interaction that anybody holding that job will have with a similar organisation elsewhere; did Waziri have that type. What connection did she have with the FBI, what relationship did she have with Metropolitan Police in London. It's not a picnic,'Obasanjo added. Waziri, a retired senior police officer, was appointed head of the EFCC in 2008 after the controversial exit of Ribadu, who was also a former police officer. Obasanjo commended Ribadu, saying his performance as the EFCC boss helped reduce corruption in Nigeria and improved her rating by the Transparency International. He said, 'When I was there, the EFCC and ICPC worked tirelessly and we moved this country from the corruption perception index being number two from the lowest to number 45 from the lowest. We should have graduated from being number 45 to being number 50 to being number 60, to being number 100. But we are not doing that, rather we have started sliding down.' The former President flayed the manner Ribadu was removed from office, saying he cautioned the late President Umaru Yar'Adua against his removal. Obasanjo said if given the opportunity again, 'I will reappoint Mallam Ribadu and I will not dismiss him the way he was dismissed from the EFCC.' He, however, criticised Ribadu for hobnobbing 'with people he had declared as corrupt.' Asked to rate the incumbent EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, on the fight against corruption, Obasanjo, said he did not know how to score him. But he recalled that Lamorde was directly involved when he requested the anti-graft agency to investigate him. He said, 'I was investigated. I told the EFCC to investigate me. I told the EFCC to carry out clinical investigation and they did. 'They also did same with all people on my farm. One of them was telling me the other day how Lamorde called him three times and took statements from him. The EFCC even made sure they did not submit that report to me; they waited until I left and updated their report after going round the world and saying look this is the report. Nobody should be below board in the fight against corruption.' The Egba chief also expressed concerns about the perceived corruption in the judiciary, saying it required the efforts of all Nigerians to check the trend. In a separate interview with Zero Tolerance, Waziri denied that Ibori supported her appointment as the EFCC chairman. She said, 'I never knew him. I never knew James Ibori. 'Let me ask you, if I was in league with Ibori and was not sincerely pursuing him, would he have run, gone out of this country to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates? 'It is all lies of the enemies. By the time I write my book, the truth will prevail. I never knew Ibori; look I believe what is worth doing at all is worth doing well. I don't believe in half measures. By my training and upbringing, I can never betray my country for anyone.' Justifying her appointment, Waziri said she secured the first conviction in the history of the EFCC. 'N190bn, one single recovery from one person that went to jail was during Farida Waziri. That is why it is good to have changes in an organisation', she added. Waziri faulted the manner she was sacked by the Goodluck Jonathan administration despite committing more than 30 years to serving the nation. She said she learnt of her removal in November 2011 in the news media and stated that she did not deserve the humiliation since she had not been found wanting for any misdemeanour. 'If you are removed like that, it has a tendency to scare some people. I wasn't bothered that I left because my philosophy of life is simple, 'what has a beginning has an end,'' Waziri said. www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/123994/1/jail-serving-ibori-recommended-waziri-efcc-chairma.html |
The big question of the day is, in the ongoing ASUU strike, who between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have the nation's Education at heart most? Is it ASUU who is saying that the government has refused to implement its 2009 promise to the body which stipulates that, within three years, the government would make available N1.5 trillion to federal universities amounting to about N500 billion per annum, but instead presented a N100billion? Or the government, who have threatened to pull off from further negotiations following ASUU's refusal of its N100 billion presented to the University body, with blames on the university body for not being considerate with the government who's been spending on other sectors too, to better the lots of Nigerians?
