ijawkid: Now this why y'all need a good coaching on these hebrew words if not you'll get yoursleves all worked up........Lololol, so you have now agreed that both Jesus and Yahweh have borne the same title El Gibbor i.e. Mighty God after trying to dance around all day? We both know El simply means God. it is now up to you tou show how Christ is not God after being specifically called God and also Everlasting Father, as well as Counselor in your bible. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 Basically, Isaiah 9:6 talks about a Mighty God that exists for all eternity. Yet Ijawkid says that the everlasting God Jesus Christ is not God. Continue fighting against your bible |
truthislight: Lol.Lol, I also don't think that the fact the Holy Spirit is a Person needs any debate |
ijawkid: My argument was on the hebrew word which is translated mighty God.......if you had noticed.........that same word has its equivalent rendering as mighty ONE,powerful one ......and all of these applies to humans........if it applies to humans then we shouldn't be struggling with it.....that's my point.......all it drives to is that we are dealing with one who is powerful.....It seems you have conveniently forgotten that "EL" means God and not man. However if you want to insist that it can apply to humans then You'll argue that Christ sitting on the throne in heaven beside El Gibbor might just as well have been a mighty guy named Alfred. So who was Jesus itting beside in Heaven? Was it the Mighty God (Yahweh), The Power of God (Holy Spirit) or Mighty one (which could mean a mighty guy called Alfred) The El Gibbor stunt you are trying to pull does not save you. The second stunt you are trying to pull also does not save you because when read in context we find that Christ is about to die resurrect and go back to His position beside the Father. And yes He has been working in the power of God all along so saying "from now on I will start working in the power of God" makes absolutely no sense. Besides Stephen saw exactly what Jesus predicted before His crucifixion Therefore the following phrase is a nonsense attempt to escape. Now Jesus sitting close to the right hand of the power of God simply means Jesus will act with Gods power.......or you just couldn't understand that one small truth.??........you could as well say Jesus was sitted at the right hand of the powerful one.......which ever we know Jesus is sitted at the right hand of his God and Father........psalms 110:1..... |
Will pick up later, God willing. Got to step out.
1Tim 2:15. Read it in context |
striktlymi: If the Christian God is not the real God then why are you still a Christian?Excellent question. No need to apologize |
In regards to what?
God does not show favouritism |
What about the people who died before Jesus was born? They did not know anything about a Jesus. Let along Abraham, how were they saved?
Rom 2:11 For God does not show favouritism. Rom 2:12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. Rom 2:13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Rom 2:14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, Rom 2:15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) Rom 2:16 This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares. |
ijawkid: That's if I agree the holy spirit is a person and God abi??......Lol, don't be a coward now. We argued that the Holy Spirit is a person. You insisted that He is the Power of God. We argued that Mighty God is the title of Yahweh as well as Jesus, You insisted that Yahweh is strictly "Almighty God" We showed you Jesus sitting beside Yahweh and He is called Mighty God. You said no that it is not "Mighty God" but "Power of God". If Power of God = Holy Spirit, then according to you Christ is sitting beside the Holy Spirit in Heaven. Shikena. If you like insist that Christ is sitting beside a force that's your wahala not mine. You have successfully ejected Yahweh from His throne and put a force there to replace Him. |
truthislight: Lol.Show from scripture without deducing "he" or "him" |
ijawkid: New American Standard BibleInteresting. I thought you said the Power of God is the Holy Spirit. Well, that would mean that Christ is sitting at the right hand side of the Holy Spirit. Congratulations, you have succeeded in debunking yourself |
@shdemidemi, Christ DID NOT pay the devil anything. That is bad theology |
benalvino: It would have been very easy for Jesus to simply say, “When it comes,” but Jesus called the Holy Spirit “He” more than 15 times. Why would God go to so much trouble to personify His own inherent power to the extent that it possessed emotions, thoughts, and speech independent of Himself? You get time dey answer truthislight. Ask him to show us in the bible where it is said that Jesus and Yahweh are persons without deducting from pronouns like "him" and "he". Who knows maybe Jesus and Yahweh are also forces. . . . .or countries like Israel ![]() |
shdemidemi: We are saying the same thing bro, everything Paul did was inspired by Christ, Paul was only a tool the Holy Spirit used. Paul himself is an ordinary man but he was used to carry the church age gospel which we must adhere to, to be saved.Ok fine. Yes I agree Christ's ministry was primarily Jewish however, it was not exclusively Jewish. I believe you will also agree but I just wanted to stress it so that people don't get the wrong message and start saying silly things like "Christ came only for the Jews" |
truthislight: Why not show me where the bible calls the holy spirit a person without resorting to deducting from a "he" and "the" but like it is done for Jesus and Yahweh ?Lol, you too Please show us where the bible calls Jehovah a person without resorting to deducting from a "he" and "the". When you are in a hole please stop digging. The more you make irrational demands, the more they come back to bite you |
shdemidemi: You are correct, they mean the same thingGood, if you agree, wouldn't you agree that we only follow Paul's example as long he follows Christ? i.e. if Paul disagreed with Christ, we would have to reject Paul and follow Christ. Thankfully Paul does not disagree with Christ. The point is that the person we are really following is Christ. and that is what Paul points out when says this: 1Co 3:3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarrelling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? 1Co 3:4 For when one says, I follow Paul, and another, I follow Apollos, are you not mere men? 1Co 3:5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe— as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 1Co 3:6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 1Co 3:7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 1Co 3:8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labour. 1Co 3:9 For we are God's fellow-workers; you are God's field, God's building. 1Co 3:10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 1Co 3:11 For no-one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. P/s: Following Christ does not mean we have to cut out the whole bible and follow only the specific words Christ said. Rather it means we follow his teachings as well as the entire Word of God as the Holy Spirit teaches us |
shdemidemi: Trust me, i don't. All I believe is the book, as soon as you show me and it is right, I will definitely agree. I am sur anony has gone to check if it is true but you are definitely not like him.Lol, ok let me see if I can help you: Would you agree that these express the same meaning? Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (NIV) And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. (NLT) |
thehomer: The fact that a photon's speed can change doesn't mean that the constant known as the speed of light can. In fact, the speed of light changes within various media this still doesn't mean the speed of light isn't a constant.Read this 4 times. It still doesn't make sense. What you just pointed out isn't contradictory to what I showed you from the same article. In fact, what I showed you from that article was much clearer.Good then we are both agreed that none of your chaos examples violates the physical laws by which the universe is defined. The only problem is our inability to measure them precisely. What did I claim ignorance of? And how would that prevent you from demonstrating my concession? You have expressly claimed ignorance of whether or not the universe exists necessarily hence there is no need to show you previous places where you conceded it didn't exist necessarily. Okay. Now that the confusion has been clarified, how do you know the universe doesn't necessarily exist the way it does? Do you know of any other universe?Asked and answered here This rough analogy isn't accurate because based on what you're saying, he didn't write the entire code that defines Nairaland because he used a programming language that he didn't define himself. On the other hand, you're saying God did it all. You're saying God created the "tools" themselves the constants that eventually arrived at the moon in the same way that Seun would need to have created HTML and the Python Language (I think is one of the tools that powers Nairaland). He would also need to have created the server software and all that for your analogy to be accurate. Then these programs would have written Nairaland spontaneously.....uhm no you miss the point. Nairaland represents the universe in the analogy and the submit button represents the moon. Now please go and read it again |
Bidam: My bro.. i don tell am tire o.he is just making himself a willing target to both atheist and muslims here.Unnecessary stubbornness is a bad thing. I can see he has given Plaetton a lucky break. |
shdemidemi: Don't misconstrue what the bible is saying, no one says you should worship Paul but follow his guide, his teachings because the church shall be judged by his gospel-Those verses I quoted was not even talking about worshiping Paul at all. It is talking specifically about following Paul (Read a few other translations to compare). |
Uyi Iredia: That's what H2O describes.Let's not beat this unnecessarily |
Uyi Iredia: Then what is water by definition ?Two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen |
shdemidemi: What you are saying is quite different from the scriptures---what that verse is saying is that our teacher as a church is Paul. We follow his teachings, his teachings lead us to the truth in Christ.Lol no we follow his example as long as he follows Christ. Please read 1Co 1:12 But I say this, that every one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ. 1Co 1:13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you, or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 1Co 1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 1Co 1:15 lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name. 1Co 1:16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides these, I do not know if I baptized any other. 1Co 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel; not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. 1Co 3:4 For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not carnal? 1Co 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to each? 1Co 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 1Co 3:7 So then neither is he who plants anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 1Co 3:8 So he planting, and he watering, are one, and each one shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1Co 3:9 For of God we are fellow-workers, a field of God, and you are a building of God. 1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let every man be careful how he builds on it. 1Co 3:11 For any other foundation can no one lay than the one being laid, who is Jesus Christ. |
Deep Sight: It is a waste of time discussing with people who do not know what they are. wiegraf: One doesn't agree with you = eediocy? Do you know what eediocy means? Deep Sight: You of course must be very very slow not to have realized a long time ago that it is nothing but ediocy not to agree with me. Agreeing with me is very smart: disagreeing is ediocy, becuase I am always right. Now, I am not being sarcastic: I mean it: I am always right. Disagree at peril of your own ediocy. Deep Sight: I take this back: it is an insult to goats and roosters. |
shdemidemi: As a christian, the scripture says we should follow Paul (not Peter, not James, Not John, not Jesus earthly ministry).I think you got it wrong there brother. We follow Christ as Paul also followed Christ |
Mr Troll: Interesting back and forth boys...I want to answer you, believe me I really do. But the only thing I'm allowed to say to you is this: Go and repent! |
mazaje: How can you say you don't know what it was designed for , yet still claim it was designed?. . .A car is desiged for driving. . .What is the universe designed for?. . .How can I say that I know it is designed without knowing what it is designed for? In the same way I can know that this was designed without knowing what it was designed for. If you disagree with me then it will mean that every machine you have ever used, you thought they assembled themselves by chance until you learnt how to use them. These include your phone, TV, car, clothes, paintings, writings e.t.c. That does not mean it was designed, it just means it acts in certain ways. . .Chance can also make it act in such ways. . .chance has no laws that can make behavior predictable It only means that the universe acts in a particular way. . .my point exactly That is what your entire premise is, re-read what you have written. . .If we are to go with your claims, we can as well say that the universe has designers. . .Try Occam's razor. There is no need to multiply causes beyond necessity |
Deep Sight: I take this back: it is an insult to goats and roosters.lololol, hahahahaha . . . .DeepSight you are wicked! |
Uyi Iredia: Allow me to answer. I think they are not necessary. For example, there's nothing to prevent hydrogen and oxygen mixing to become salt, or the atom just being a static neutron. We can think of these. Furthermore, why are these phenomena consistent ? I therefore suppose that an intelligence arbitrated these properties. How ? I don't know.Uhm no, I think you are mistaken about water H2O is what water is by definition. However I agree that the atom could just as well been a static neutron with no electrons and we'll have ourselves an entirely different universe. Everything points to the fact that the universe is not the way it is out of necessity. |
ayenny02: "Son of God" is the same as "Servant of God" in Hebrew! Please permit me to come back and handle this later. |
@op, why don't you post a bible verse that supports this statement.
Lol, let's see how honest you are being; Would you agree that if I can show you bible verses supporting each of the statements from 1 to 10, statement 11 will be your inevitable conclusion? By the way, how far? I no come see you for whatsapp again? |
thehomer: Not according to Jesus with his talk about adultery in the heart and not according to God with his command that people not covet. But of course you can choose not to lust and not to covet, you can resist the urge and not indulge in it. People do it all the time. You can choose to think or not to think about a thing. Once a choice is made, it isn't reversible. The person can then make another choice further down the decision tree. But the thing though is that if you know you can choose between A and B, then with your freewill, you can choose either A or B. If after choosing A, B is still available, then further down the path if you still have freewill, you can still choose B thereby making yet another choice....and if after choosing A, B is not available, have you lost your freewill? Freewill is the ability to make choices it is not the ability to decide which choices will be available. |
thehomer: The line is a statistical one but what you need to realize of course is that however unlikely computer software might be, it is still less likely without the initial presence of sapient beings therefore, the presence of sapient beings is more likely than the presence of computer software.interesting, I can also say that however unlikely a DNA code is, it is still less likely without the initial presence of an intelligent being and therefore the presence of an intelligent being is more likely than the presences of the DNA code. Notice that you have not told us anything about why one code is more likely or less likely than the other Wrong. A computer program is code. Tweaking the DNA code is a short way of saying you're moving around specific molecules.Constituent parts all assembled and working according to a set of specific pattern such that we can accurately predict exactly how it ought to function. Or to use your criteria: parts assembled so that it works in such a way that it achieves a certain end btw: I can also say tweaking a computer code is merely changing a bunch of alphabets and numbers it doesn't change anything about the software being designed Actually, the question of who is very much in play because your aim with this line of inquiry is to present DNA as being evidence for God.The question to you is do you think it was designed? You are not under any obligation to say who This is why you should have read the entire sentence before randomly picking out something and calling it a strawman. What you did was to edit out the rest of your own quote and you called it a strawman. Really. The words following the semicolon that are in bold are in fact your very own words.Read again exactly what I highlighted and what I said about what it It is not a red-herring and what you've just demonstrated is that you're partly making an argument from ignorance and contradicting yourself. Let me explain as usual.I remember specifically saying that I didn't know enough about them to say if they were designed or not i.e. I don't know their constituent parts and how they work properly enough to make the call. If you gave me more information about them, then I'll be in a better position to tell you if they are designed or not. There is no contradiction there ....and yes a vacuum is not designed neither is it an object. It is nothing. I really find it difficult to understand why you guys just chuck out the name of a fallacy and think it settles everything. That isn't how to have a serious discussion. Please can you actually show me how I committed this fallacy? If you had tried to do that and read my post in its entirety, you'll have realized that it wasn't a strawman. Unless of course you failed to recognize your own ideas being quoted back to you verbatim.Go back and read it again. Pay close attention to the part I highlighted in red |
