Yildiz: Please can I use LOR dated 2013? That's during my masters That's not how it works. You'll almost be insulated from the entire process unless your recommender allows you access to his email. During your application, you'll be required to fill in the names and email addressees of your recommenders. The school will contact them with a link to submit your LOR. So to answer your question, I don't think LOR of 2013 will cut it. |

Kirusky4life: Good morning beautiful people. I have started my applications for spring 2018. one of the schools am applying for have a separate portal for LOR to be uploaded by recommender themselves. so my recommender wants to know if it is proper to just upload the letter after typing it on text editor without signature or whether to print it first, sign it, scan it and then upload?
Also other schools that I wl be uploading the letter myself, which of the above options is more acceptable ?
Please help a friend o Either is fine. I sent three LOR for my application and only one of them was printed and signed by the recommender. |

DexxyAlebs: thank you for the swift response, do you know if the Ms easily get funded there or it's the PhD? Have an acquaintance who got into Ms I.T with full funding. You may wanna look up the school . Check out their requirement and talk to the grad coordinator about any and all concerns. |

DexxyAlebs: Hello GRE Family, thanks for the support so far, got quite some materials from some folks here and it has really been of help.
Finished from a Nigerian University, Computer Science, 3.81 out of 5.0 (3.41 on 4.0 scale), I have one published paper (ACM indexed) Looking forward to study in the united states/Canada to study Ms Computer Science /M. IT or possibly a PhD in Computer Science.
I initially intended to take GRE by October, so I can have enough room to prepare, but from what I have read on the thread lately, I have decided to move to September considering applications and possible funding for 2018.
School Choices: New Jersey Inst. Of Tech. East Ten. SU Kansas State MTSU University of Arkansas at LR Auburn Howard (if possible)
Study plan: Before now I have been treating the manhattan series I have in my repository very slowly, though I'm on the third (I have treated algebra, fdp and I'm almost through Geometry) but about a week a ago I started extensive study, after treating all this three text which text would you advice I study next to perfect what manhattan has started in my quants. Verbal - the only thing I have done is treating the vocabs on the ready4gre app ( not very consistent). Someone please help my destiny with the magoosh videos and other verbal materials, Pls what's the best way to kick start and kill the verbal. Boladealeb@gmail.com (I would really appreciate)
Question: Do we have anyone here with a Canada success story especially with funding (cos their fees na die).
How tedious is it getting fully funded for Ms Computer Science compared to PhD Computer Science.
What's your take on the choice of schools.
Thanks for the help so far. Do very well on your tests and MTSU would fund you for I.T. |

NefT: While filling this new DS160 what do I say to the question, have you ever been refused admission to the US or withdrawn your application at the point of entry? I am asking cause I was delayed this week. This is urgent please, I am on the form right now.. Read it well. It doesn't apply to you. The question seeks to find out if you've been turned back at the point of entry while seeking admittance into the United States. Seeing that you don't have a visa yet, it doesn't apply to you. Unless you've been turned back at POE. So the question is, have you? |

Coloniel5000: Am surprised as to some universities in the US not demanding for application fee. Would it be right to conclude that they are low ranked universities or is a measure put in place to attract students? Michigan tech waives app fee and it is ranked among top 120 schools( national ranking) by US news. In my opinion, waiving app fees is a measure to attract a lot of applicants thus increasing the application pool. Since the number of students the school can admit is not dependent on the number of applications received, the school acceptance rate increases leading to an increase in ranking. I may be wrong tho |

Jesusbabygirl: Hello great house. So i got to the US earlier this week (yet to be so impressed sha...lol). Anyways thought to share my port of entry experience. I flew through Abu Dhabi to Chicago and based on the new development, I was stamped in at Abu Dhabi not Chicago (For those who still don't agree that this is happening...it is):
At Abu Dhabi.... CBP: What are you going to do in the US? Me: To study for an MBA CBP: Do you have any close relatives in the US? Me: Yes (and I mentioned who and relationship) CBP: Do you have any food items? Me: Yes (and I listed them) CBP (sounding surprised): You don't have garri (CBP pronounced it like an ijebu man...lol)? Me: No CBP: Thought Nigerians can't survive without it CBP: (Shows me my bags on a screen): Are those your bags? Me: Yes CBP: (Cleared bags and stamped me in) Shikena...so at Chicago i just went in like a domestic traveller.
Great to be where there is constant electricity sha, guess that is the only wow thing so far and of course the place is sooooo organized. Nice of you to share. Yet to be impressed? You be confirm ajé for Nigeria then. Cos even Yankee pics dey impress me.lol Enjoy your studies |

emmayodata: please everyone in the house, I need your help. After paying my visa fee, I went to ds160 site to generate an application id, answered a security question and left the site. I used this detail (my application id) to schedule my visa appointment. Now coming back to ds-160 site to complete my form I was told to provide the first 5 digits of my surname and my year of birth as part of my security answers which was not required as at then and I didn't even fill anything on that page. My interview comes up on 1st August. Please and please help a brother here. cc: Justwise walspring texrem lagosismyhome. This happens when you're trying to retrieve a DS160 form you've filled in the past. If you can't find your way around it, just fill a new one and make sure the confirmation code matches with that on your appointment confirmation. You'll be fine. |

easykay011: Hello everyone! I wrote GRE last year I scored 149 in Verbal nd 150 in quantitative. Can I use it to apply to grad school? I have a cgpa of 3.37/4.0 in Biochemistry. Scored 94 in TOEFL (without Scoring less than 20 in any). What's my chance of gaining admission? The annoying most of these schools do not even write their minimum GRE scores required on their websites. What are your chances of gaining admission?Admissions are like visa interviews, no one can accurately predict. Your entire application is considered holistically. That said, you can get admission into schools with the profile above. But it becomes a question of how robust the program/school is. There are folks on this very thread with score in this range who got admission with funding. So, you may want to do a thorough research into schools that'll accept your profile. Minimum GRE scores required by schoolsThis one is quite tricky as it is dynamic, thus highly dependent on the application pool for each admission cycle. You can outrightly ask the graduate coordinator of your intended program for statistics. I did this one time and got a positive response. You could also check gradcafe and run through the profiles of admitted students into your proposed school. I hope this helps? |

In order to meet up with resumption for August ending, by 1st week of august I plan to apply for visa and book appointment for 3rd week in August, though my I -20 is expected to be delivered before dat 3rd week. Is it possible to still apply for visa and book appointment before paying sevis fee? Is it also possible to apply and book appointment within a week and go for the interview within dat week if I want to wait for my I-20 and pay sevis fee? Please note my resumption is last week in August.
Please ur contributions are welcome. @lagosismyhome,walspring,Oludare and others. Thanks While you await your i20 you can request your sevis ID from the sch. This will enable you make sevis payment and even book an interview as long as you're certain of your i20 arriving before your choosen date. |

But then @ Olarich30 air maroc for 7th Aug is about 360, 500 on travelstart and would be about 358k on wakanow. Wherever you paid 387k, you should really avoid there in future. dannydenzy: Hello House, I need your opinion, suggestions and advice. I am a First Class bachelors degree and masters degree(2013) holder in microbiology (2017) from federal universities in Nigeria. I want to apply for masters/PhD in molecular biology and genetics in U. S university but I don't have G. R. E and TOEFL at the moment although I have a letter of English proficiency given to me by my Alma matter. I want to know if I can get admission without GRE and TOEFL in any school in United States. If yes I need suggestion of schools that can grant me admission by waiving the test scores. While there may be tons of schools that'll waive these tests for you, I'll advice that you take them. As you have a good undergraduate GPA and even a masters degree, there are a number of advantages of taking the tests. 1) Your choice of schools would be limit less. You can apply to top ranked schools and programs 2) The probability of getting into a fully funded PhD program increases. 3) Taking standardized tests adds to your credibility as a genuine student during a visa interview. Although expensive, the benefits that accrues from taking the GRE and TOEFL far outweigh any/all sacrifices you would have to make for it. |
