Aliyu Mohammed, coordinator of the sector 4 command, joint border patrol team of the Nigeria customs service (NCS) in the north-west, says he had to offer seven bags of seized rice to bandits in exchange for freedom.

Addressing journalists in Katsina on Tuesday, Mohammed said the incident occurred in Dutsinma LGA of the state.

Mohammed was commenting on the challenges encountered by the customs officers in the discharge of their duties.

Narrating one of his encounters with bandits in a bush in Katsina, he said the gunmen asked for seven out of the 37 bags of rice they seized at the time, if the officers wanted to be released alive.

“I sacrificed my life to enter the bush where the bandits are — the last time we had contact with them — to the extent that they were a little bit friendly with us.

“We seized 37 bags of rice and they said if we are to go, they have to take seven bags. So, we gave them seven bags to save our lives.

“So, you see the risks we take, but people, especially those living along the border communities, engage in attacking our officers.”

Military action only cannot solve the problem of Nigeria. Nigeria needs a UN mandate to re organize , break up or remain united . A mandate that will allow all the tribes to present their case.
I think Nigeria might be reorganized like Germany was after the second world War.

For now, it needs to be an occupied territory so the US/Israel forces can clean out the terrorists, create two heavily armed borders in the north, in the Niger - Nigeria and Cameroon - Nigeria border towns (Yobe / Borno border towns) and then begin a thorough campaign to recruit new military trainees after conducting an extensive background check on the new recruits, any stain of terrorist ties and you are out of the new army recruitment stage. After a 5 year period, we can have a UN mandate and then decide what the future holds.

As the Trump administration has declared Nigeria a country of particular interest and have expressed willingness to take military action against the terrorist elements in Nigeria, I would advise that they not only focus on military actions but also create a well detailed auditing system to follow the money.

Military action should be supported simultaneously with a thorough financial investigation and accountability.

Trace and freeze every related bank account both domestic and offshore of every Nigerian politician since 2010 up to this current administration, then commission independent audits of all incoming and outgoing transactions (including donations).

Track where those donations went and carry out background checks on their recipients. The repeated slaughter of Christians in this country is intolerable, we need a full, legal inquiry to get to the bottom of it and hold those responsible to account.



Freeze all accounts

Identify and trace every implicated bank account domestic and offshore.

Authorise a thorough investigation on the frozen ccounts.

Commission independent auditors to review all transactions (incoming and outgoing).

Include so-called “donations” in the audit and trace their ultimate destinations.

Conduct background checks on recipients and intermediaries tied to those funds.

Coordinate with domestic law enforcement and international partners where necessary.

Pursue criminal and civil accountability based on audit findings.

Ensure transparency and oversight throughout the investigation to restore public trust.


We MUST get to the bottom of this.
