In 2019, under Trump’s direct support, Nigeria crushed Boko Haram, the terror group lost over 90% of its territory in just 18 months.
Here’s what happened:

U.S. delivered twelve A-29 Super Tucano jets (approved 2017, arrived 2019–2020)

U.S. provided real-time intelligence, drone surveillance, and elite training
Nigerian military recaptured Sambisa Forest, Boko Haram’s last major stronghold

His 2025 offer is to restart that success. Intervention NOT invasion

Well meaning Nigerians MUST accept this. Protect the lives Christians, secure the Middle Belt. End the genocide.

PoliticsDebunking The Myth: Trump’s Concern For Nigeria Didn't Just Start Now. by Mrchippychappy(op):
MURIC, Afenifere and the northern leaders claim that Trump “suddenly” targeted Nigeria is false. Trump actively partnered with Buhari from 2017–2020 to fight Boko Haram until Biden’s Democrats stopped it.

Trump's intervention: A brief timeline

Feb 2017: Trump’s first call to Buhari, he pledged full U.S. support vs. Boko Haram.

2017: Trump approved sale of 12 A-29 Super Tucano jets (blocked by Obama), delivered by 2020.

Apr 2018: Buhari’s White House visit. Trump praised Nigeria’s anti-ISIS role, backed deradicalization, and condemned Christian killings.
2019: Boko Haram lost 90% of territory thanks to U.S. intel, training, and strikes.

Dec 2020: Trump designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) for religious freedom violations.

Biden Reversed Everything

2021: Biden removed Nigeria from CPC list despite worsening attacks.
2022: Democrats used Leahy Law & Child Soldiers Act to restrict arms and training.
Result: U.S. support dropped to non-lethal aid only. Boko Haram/ISWAP surged, attacks up 30% by 2022.

Trump isn’t “suddenly” interested, he’s restarting what Biden killed.

His 2025 threats (intervention, aid cuts, CPC reinstatement) are resuming the 2017 to 2020 plan, its an intervention not an invasion.

Afenifere should demand justice for victims, not deflect with lies.

PoliticsAfenifere: When Tribe, Religion and Resources are valued More Than Lives by Mrchippychappy(op):
Apologies if this is a lengthy post, but please read through and see the deception of our politicians and ethno-religious "leaders" for yourselves.

Afenifere's recent statement dismisses U.S. President Donald Trump's threats of intervention in Nigeria as a "strategic decoy" driven by economic motives. The group claims Trump's accusations of government complicity in Christian killings are "baseless," aimed at pressuring Nigeria into buying U.S. weapons, granting greater economic access, or punishing Tinubu's foreign policy stances (e.g., supporting a two-state solution for Israel-Palestine).

Afenifere insists banditry is not religious but economic, targeting minerals, and warns against "reckless statements" that invite foreign aggression. They cite U.S. interventions elsewhere leading to instability as proof of ulterior motives.

This narrative is a deflection.
It ignores overwhelming evidence of the Nigerian government's injustices, acts of terror facilitation, and pro-terrorism policies that have enabled a decade-plus genocide against Christians, particularly in the Middle Belt and North.

Trump's designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) /b]or religious freedom violations and threats of intervention are not an "invasion" for oil or minerals. Nigeria's resources are already mismanaged or exploited local elites, with zero benefit to citizens.

Instead, Trump's actions respond to [b]Nigeria's state-sponsored tolerance of Fulani militias, Boko Haram reintegration without justice, and refusal to prosecute sponsors.

This has displaced millions and killed tens of thousands (mostly Christians).

Below, I cite specific injustices and suspicious pro-terrorism acts from the Nigerian government, drawn from the provided VOA, BBC, Guardian, Premium Times, CFR, and Conversation links.

These form a pattern of appeasement over accountability, making intervention a moral and strategic imperative to halt what Trump calls "Christian genocide."

1. Reintegrating Boko Haram Terrorists Without Justice or Victim Reparations (Deradicalization as Amnesty for Mass Murderers)

Nearly 600 former Boko Haram militants graduated from Nigeria's rehab program in 2023 (VOA, 2023), part of Operation Safe Corridor.* Over 1,000+ "repentant" insurgents have been released into communities since 2016, often with stipends, jobs, or military integration, while victims (e.g., Chibok girls' families) get nothing.
Major General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, a GOC, openly stated: "Repentant Boko Haram members can become president."

https://www.channelstv.com/2019/07/21/an-ex-boko-haram-can-become-president-says-army-goc/

https://guardian.ng/news/nigeria/national/repentant-boko-haram-members-can-become-president-army-goc/

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has taken a swipe at President Donald Trump, saying his allegation of genocide is a failure of U.S. intelligence.
Interestingly, the same DG backed the reintegration of repentant Boko Haram members:

https://punchng.com/noa-backs-reintegration-of-repentant-boko-haram-members/

Nigeria targets Boko Haram top brass for deradicalization (VOA, 2018), negotiating releases instead of trials. This rewards terror: Boko Haram denies any peace deal (VOA, 2015), yet government persists.

Injustice: Christians in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe face returned killers who bombed churches and abducted girls (e.g., 276 Chibok girls, 2014). Opposition urged dialogue (VOA, 2013; 2017), but it bolsters security minimally (VOA, 2015).
Result: Persistent threat complicates resettling 2+ million displaced (VOA, 2022 episode).

2. Negotiating with Terrorists and Protecting Sponsors (State Complicity in Funding Jihad)

Government has been negotiating with Boko Haram for years (CFR, 2016), including ransom payments for Chibok girls (VOA, 2017: "Nigeria must negotiate release"wink . Cameroon–Nigeria negotiate return of ex-militants (VOA, 2021).
[Believe it or not, in 2021, Nigeria actually negotiated for the RETURN of Boko Haram terrorists from Cameroon!]

Former governor, two senators under police watch for Boko Haram links (Premium Times, 2013). Sheikh Gumi (terror sympathizer) denied Saudi Hajj entry (Guardian.ng, 2024), yet he mediates with bandits freely in Nigeria.

Committee questions use of army against Muslim terrorists (VOA, 2011), implying bias against military action. Military denies maltreating Boko Haram survivors (VOA, 2023) but ignores civilian victims.

Suspicious Act: Buhari-era Water Resources Bill (resisted nationally) would centralize mineral-rich waterways, linked to clearing Christian farmlands via "herder-farmer clashes" (Orngu's analysis).

Terror Link: Fulani militias (ranked 4th deadliest terror group globally by Global Terrorism Index) displace Christians in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa to mine gold/lithium illegally often under military escort. Government labels it "economic," not jihad (Afenifere echoes this).

3. Silence on Blasphemy Killings and Broader Anti-Christian Genocide

Deborah Yakubu Samuel lynched and burned in Sokoto (2022) for "blasphemy": Interestingly, there was no Afenifere condemnation mentioned. Bashir Ahmed, a Buhari presidential team member and OON holder, called for execution for blasphemy.

BBC Pidgin (2021): Covers ongoing killings, but government downplays them as "clashes." Fulani herdsmen killed 2,000+ in 2018 alone (Amnesty International).

Injustice: No prosecutions for church bombings or village razings in Southern Kaduna/Benue. Victims: overwhelmingly Christian farmers on mineral-rich land.

Why Trump is Exploring Intervention, NOT Invasion

Avoiding a Humanitarian Crisis: 10,000+ Christians killed since 2015 (Open Doors Watch List); 4 million displaced. U.S. CPC designation (2025) cites government failure to protect. This is already a humanitarian crisis that can engulf the entire West African region.

Nigeria's "rehabilitation" creates safe havens for terror export (e.g., ISWAP).

Previous Attempts: U.S. aided Nigeria vs. Boko Haram (2015 drones/intel), but this support was short-lived and failed as the Biden administration halted all assistance.

You would remember that in 2015, we expressed a drastic decline which led to some political figures like Lai Mohammed claiming we have crushed Boko Haram. This decline was a result of Trump's intervention.

Intervention = targeted ops to secure communities, regulate mining, prosecute sponsors. It has nothing to do with stealing "our oil.

Afenifere's resource paranoia ignores this: resources haven't helped Nigerians. If the U.S. secures peace, it benefits citizens more than corrupt reintegration.

All over social media, the general consensus by Nigerians is this:
"Let them take resources if it stops killings."

Nigeria must act:

Prosecute sponsors, end rehab-without-justice, secure farmlands. Until then, Trump's threat is a lifeline, not imperialism. Afenifere should condemn terror, not the messenger. Lives > resources.

Lastly, Afenifere, Arewa, Ohaneze, CAN, MURIC, and other ethnic or religious groups must remember the saying: He who wears the shoes feels the discomfort.

Respectfully, our elders would have to sit this one out. The fact that they can experience the luxury of even conveying a meeting at these times while over 500,000 Nigerians languish in IDP camps shows that they are not in the position to make demands.

The few cannot determine the destiny of the many, and right now, millions of Nigerians across religious and tribal backgrounds especially those affected by the actions of Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen (the 4th deadliest terror group according to the Global Terror Index) have called for this intervention from President Trump (an intervention deceptively presented as an invasion by those who have benefitted from these killings).

Lives > Resources

The US response is a direct reaction to the self-defense law in Ekiti and the NINJA initiative in Ondo. They know that the days of business as usual are numbered.

Middleborn:
I read the document and i must say that any Nigerian who opens their mouth to say that there is no "genocide" in Nigeria is either in the payroll of the APC or is grossly stupid and naive.

What is a genocide?

Oxford dictionary: "The deliberate and systematic killing or persecution of a large number of people from a particular national or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group."

The question is: What do we know as the reason for the killings by the Fulani herdsmen?

They kill ethnic minorities in the north, middle belt and they are now active in the south west, south east and south south. They kill communities and claim the land by resettling the land, they have often been called landgrabbers. The herdsman also have an islamization agenda. We know this because after they came into Nigeria in the 1820's, they killed the king in Sokoto and put their emir...this is what they have done in many cities they have dominated.

So they kill and take possession of land and establish their religion. Who are they up against? minority ethnic groups in the north and middle belt as well as ethnic groups in the south. THIS IS A GENOCIDE AGAINST ETHNIC GROUPS IN NIGERIA.
Bro 35 pages of dead people from Taraba alone! How can any honest person regardless of their religion say that there's no Government sponsored Christian genocide ?

Every single sensible, progressive, peace loving Nigerian supports that the USA comes and fights these monsters who have been killing, raping, a d kidnapping Nigerians for decades

The only people who are opposed to it, those who talk about "invasion", "natural resources", "removal of their president", etc are those who support, sponsor, admire, pray for, happy for the terrorists, the massacres, the rapes, the kidnappings, and the destructions.
Thanks, let's all gather here, share and comment. This initiative seems like a good one.

This is a patriotic call, may you live long and prosper.

But OP, look out for the enemies of the country who are against Trump but not against the terrorists and bandits committing heinous crimes. They will soon twist this patriotic call into a tribal and religiously divisive campaign.

They will come to tell you to protest only in your region, as if they are immune to the loss of lives and destruction of property happening all over the country at the hands of these terrorists.

They will even call you an enemy of the country for demanding the total eradication of these terrorists and bandits, while calling themselves patriots for allowing terrorism to fester.

They are eternally afraid of peaceful protest, even though they once engaged in it, sponsored it, funded it, and used it against previous regimes.
Thanks bro, there's no better way to show the US and Israel that Nigerians are 100% in support of them

✝️🇳🇬🇺🇸🇮🇱

Nigerians, please advise if this is a good initiative:

A ONE MILLION MAN MARCH in Abuja and other northern parts to peacefully shine a global spotlight on the ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria and to welcome the UNITED STATES ARMY to help end terrorism.

Thousands of believers are being slaughtered, churches burned, villages wiped out, yet the world stays silent. NO MORE!

We march to:
Demand international recognition of the genocide against Christians
Welcome President Trump & the Israeli Army to partner with Nigeria in crushing Boko Haram, ISWAP & Fulani militias .

Show the world: Nigeria’s Christians will NOT be erased!

FOOD BANK FOR OUR HEROES
No cash. No corruption. ONLY FOOD.

If needed, We would mobilize farmers nationwide to donate maize, rice, beans, yams direct to a food bank that would be managed by a joint US/UN/Nigerian army effort, unfortunately the Nigerian army cannot be trusted to solely oversee this.

Our soldiers fight on empty stomachs while terrorists feast. This ends NOW.

TRANSPARENCY PLAN:
Partnering with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to oversee distribution.

Collaborating with the US Embassy for full accountability every grain tracked, every sack audited.

#ChristianGenocideNG #MillionManMarch #TrumpSaveNigeria #IsraelWithUs #FeedOurSoldiers

If you’re a farmer, pastor, youth, or patriot, please share your opinion.

Let the world hear Nigeria’s cry. 🙏

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake…” – Matthew 5:10
