Nice one. I remember having a discussion with a friend of mine who was dead broke and his response to breaking out of that poverty was to get married and have kids because according to him "Children are God's gift and can open the doors of blessing", I was shocked.

Even if your kid was a magical footballer or talented athlete, you still have at least 12 to 15 years of taking care of that kid until they sign a professional contract, if your kid was a great actor or actress, you still need to spend your money driving that kid to auditions and a lot of behind the scene negotiating and hope your kid doesn't fall victim to predators and p3dos looking to assault that kid and then there's the reality that 9 out of 10 of these talented kids don't make it, so basically a parent could do all of this and end up getting nothing back.

Kids are not a way out of poverty for parents. African parents need to realize this, If that was the case, then that parent would have been the way out for his or her OWN parents. Trying to live vicariously through your children (especially after investing VERY little in them) has always been one of the downfalls of the African family. Both in Africa and the diaspora.
