History shows that the cross was used centuries before Christ. For example, in the British Museum is a statue of the Assyrian king Samsi-Vul, son of Shalmaneser. Around his neck is an almost perfect Maltese cross. On an accompanying figure, that of Ashur-nasir-pal, is a similar cross. The ancient Greek goddess Diana is pictured with a cross over her head, in much the same way the "Virgin Mary" is represented by many medieval artists. Bacchus, the Greek god of wine, is often pictured wearing a headdress adorned with crosses. Different types of crosses were used in Mexico centuries before the Spaniards arrived. The Egyptians used cross symbols in abundance, as did the Hindus. The surprising thing is that the "Christian" use of the cross did not begin until the time of Constantine, three centuries after Christ. Archaeologists have not found any Christian use of the symbol before that time. According to one writer (W. E. Vine, Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, article "Cross" , the cross as a "Christian" symbol was taken directly from the pagans. The New Testament does not specifically describe the instrument upon which Christ died, though Acts 5:30; 10:39; and 13:28-29 refer to it as a "tree." The Greek word xulon, translated "tree" in these verses, can mean a stick, club, tree, stake, or other wooden articles. There is absolutely no evidence that God's true church ever used the cross symbol for any purpose. Nowhere does the Bible command its use. It surely would if God expected this of Christians. Jesus had to be crucified for our sins. Crucifixion, not uncommon in New Testament times, was a horrible execution reserved for slaves and hardened criminals. Roman conquerors kept their subjects in line by openly exhibiting this … More CGG Weekly Is the Symbol of the Cross Idolatry? (Part One) by Mike Ford Most of us have watched a baseball game. av been bird watching dz fox business from a dog-eat-dog country after having traded it first-hand som few years ago. Left crypto trading to revamp my fx journey...d re-education has been fun and grumpy...paying my dues on fta via going thru some older posts... Page 1 to 110 read so far. |
behold! All christians, the perfect image of God. And he looks exactly like one hollywood actor - jim caviezel. Even d actor don complain tire, still chesting "sign of d cross" people no gree hear at all. |
paul of tarsus, was a former bounty hunter, executioner and jewish (judaism scholar who claimed jesus revealed himself to him? Then went ahead and started writing letters and epistles which d early church fathers used, added and combined other non-pauline epistles to create christianity...and dz very d 'origin' christology is split into two factional belief systems. One believing in the divinity of Jesus christ(that jesus is God himself and part of d holy trinity and the other faction that adopts d golden ideal of Jesus being a merely saviour and son of God, nothing more. But today, all christians from catholic, pentecostal, seventh adventis, jehovah's witness, church of mormor; i.e, jesus christ church of d latter days saint, etc., messianic jews, i.e "jesus for d jews", presbyterians, ..i have lost count already...all are different, but claiming to belong to the same body of christ? Each denomination claiming to be d right and only church 'ritualistic' way of fellowship. What a mixture of madness today. |
Maynnmann:i m not talking about or interested in how d pauline epistles or some "controversial" non-pauline epistles are created. I m talking about the series of council meetings held over the centuaries that collectively shapen d bible into what it is today. Wetin concern me with christianity self. Who created pauline epistles or what nut is far from what one would see as the truth here. There is no direct answer that would point one to d fact dat pauline epistles were created by so so and so. Bcuz if you are to tell a christian today that d early church fathers did create d pauline epistles, he would say you are not a believer and U are speaking jargons too |
Maynnmann:ok, 'em exactly. But was popularized by bishop arius himself when d trinity concept started coming a thing. D christological belief system quickly swerved to a different direction and d roman emperor constantine gathered all the early church bishops to arrive at a common ground and Dz old ancient balded fart Arius was invited to the council of niceae held at d bithynia city of Nicaea; some place in modern day Turkey. Arianism may have nothing to do with d roman emperor, but d early church fathers all-together no doubt played a major role in interpreting scriptures, debating on what goes in and what nut and evenually forming a theological construction template based on biblical exegesis. I m not a "pan-taker" of a confused nuts! |
contd..that's why today, you all christians may read from d same re-packaged, abrogated and stardardised book bcuz some bunch of old and acient farts debated and agreed on what to be added or removed to shapen their own imposed christological belief systems after putting everything about the scriptures to a council vote and despite; 4th century historic bishops' believable facts with proofs from same scriptural texts that formed d base collection of the very reason christian denominations (sects) existed today and more on way with separate confused belief systems. I.e; jehovah witness, presbyterians' etc. Whose doctrines are more like the true form of arianism (bishop arius' belief system) no doubt. If d body of christ is not scattered and mixed-mash, why do we today have catholicism, presbyterians, jow, mormors, protestants, seventh adventists, d white garment ppl, messianic judaism aka the "jews of jesus" churches dat go by various names, etc. all u guys do is to read from dat agreed instructional manual. |
contd.. Before d reign of d roman emperor constantine there was another roman emperor Diocletian who reigned from 284-305AD, menh, dz dude hated christians like mad and was busy filling pile-full roman jails with christians, it was during d reign of emperor constantine christianity started to come alive enmass, and so was mixed-mash doctrines of various christologies were becoming so loud, like roman soldiers praying differently, arguing what to belief and not to belief; and this brought some sense of weakness to the roman empire in a broader way. After d reign of emperor constantine, other pro-arianism emperors were installed and bishop arius' christology which was a mixture of adoptionism and logos theology spreaded like wildfire. Now, my point is dat under the authority of king james in 1611, the total books translated to english was 80 books to be used in churches, etc. Until another council of "oh! No, i m losing count since i can't remember" in 1648, 14 books were removed; dz way, bringing d count to 66 |
contd..who is not self existent cannot therefore be the self-existent and inmutable God, bcuz d Godhead is unique, it cannot be shared or communicated. Then bishop st nicholas in an outrage left his sit and came over to punch bishop arius in the face. And called him d heretic bishop. Nicholas will in many generations to come be celebrated with a feast day that marks "punch a heretic day" Then d nicene creed was formulated that affirmed the deity and eternality of Jesus christ and defined the relationship btw d Father and the Son. Arius lost position at his church at syria and was deroped. the bible began to take shape collectively all thru each council like about what scriptural book was to be debated on and then added. There was d council of hippo (393 AD), Carthage (in 397AD), like at d council of Laodicea in 363 AD the verdict was reached and decided dat d western church (romans) and the eastern church (greeks) should use d 26 new testaments + d first 5 books (Torah) of d hebrew bible + 1 apocrypha book. |
At op, you need to understand the canonization timelines of the bible, the early church fathers were at some point spreading teachings and reading also from d lost books like; d gospel of thomas, mary .m, philip, along with the hebrew bible etc, until the first council of nicea, there was already the muratorian canon in AD 200 comprising a collection of new testament scriptures. at the first council under d authority of d roman emperor constantine, that brought together the gathering of church bishops, to finally address and solve the theological disputations about d divinity of Jesus christ, etc. As debate got heated after bishop arius won his augment against bishop athanasius whose belief was dat jesus was a saviour and no creature possessed the ability or prerogative to save from sin. When it was arius turned to defend his position and share his own belief, he argued that the uniqueness of God alone is self-exitent ( not dependent for its existence on anything else) and immutable, the son, jesus who ... |
advocatejare:Surah Anbiya, Ayat 35 is self-explanatory enough... |
Kobojunkie:lets be logical here, you said, "after he chose disobedience" now, my question to you; is'nt disobedience an act of freewill on it own? |
advocatejare:you are mixing stuff up man! pre-destined and freewill are two different sides of a coin. Dz what i believe in , i believe that life itself is a test from Allah. Therefore, all humans must make their own decisions on which they will be judged by Allah. In reference to your above-mentioned bolded statement, if for example; had all human affairs been pre-destined and decided or "programmed" like you put it, then it seems to me that the appointment or callings of Prophets would be useless? U have freewill and so does every man on earth and the Qur'an is a testament to the fact. "Indeed we have guided him to the way, be he grateful or ungrateful." surah al-insan 76:3 |
all what you have just highlighted here are not far from the explanations below. In other words or in simpler terms it means "the fallen nature of man has been from the onset; designed to be inherently rebellious against God. Only God almighty is pure and no man is, was and will ever be and that's why man depend on God's divine guidiance. Aisha (peace be upon her) was no apostle paul but she knew and understood the complexity surrounding the fallen nature of man. See Rom7:15-25 |
If you truly explore the exact meaning revealed in the deuteronomy 32:8-9, and psalm 82. from d original masoretic text. Not your numerous bible translations as kjv originate from the latin vulgate, latin vulgate from greek septugints, etc. You won't be saying all these. @Op, which one is shalom alaikum again? I could relate to d brief rundown, we are more alike than u knw but somewhat different, since we both presently stand on separate side of d spiritual fence, hence; our journey continues but on separate paths. At 9, d christians' world engulfed me, thou was originally born a muslim. Then, christianity conversion happened, what does a 9yr old know if not only to ask questions, and getting tagged along with d christian business. At 25, after d whole essence of d christianity doctrines started to dawn on me. Then i sanked deeper, and just one day i stopped going to church, or listening to anything doctrinal related as such. For d next 10yrs, I was in d phase i called "existensial limbo".B4 returng to my predestined... No one ever asked why king Solomon; despite his gift of infinite wisdom, still showed compassion n accepted people for what they are and truly believed in. 4get abt what quantified him, love was more evolved to him than war. Afterall, Jesus ate with sinners! |
Experts from d market intelligence firm, Glassnode - are saying the market may have to fall further "to fully test investor resolve, and enable the market to establish a resilient bottom." d bears are trying to flip support to resistance, CPI reports ATH hikes, incoming fomc meetings july 26th, some majors(eth, leo, sol, etc.) shifting out of their bullish symmetrical angles chart setup. some crypto firms insolvencies don't worry me, what troubles me is the incoming U.S Fed Reserve (fomc meeting) again on july 26-27th. Yes, they meet once in every 6wks and 8 times in a year. The outcome of d meeting may either okay or invalidate our entire bullish setup. And if i should see plenty long tails(candlesticks) with some large volumes confirmation on the 4hr TF Chart immediately and for a few days after d meeting, indicating a strong continuous demand at lower levels. Everywher don begin stew small small be dat. Buh if tins should go south? For it pays more to DCA at dz critical points than to DCA randomly and sporadically. |

D crypto investment firm is now holding over 124,000 ish btc. Anyway, i still dey wait patiently for btc to drop to 17k. If it doesn't? Buh overcome, naa straight to 26k be dat o.h. Only bear traders are bold and solid investors with strong holding hands, they embrace whatever FUD that may pop up and remain strong in their positions. But majority of the bull traders are nothing like the bear, they are just interested in securing gains and exiting their positions with their hands holding 'FUD ish' cocktail facial mask and smiling wolfishly behind it; they are indeed the wolf of the crypto wall street. With d crypto price crash due to rising macroeconomic concerns, that has now ushered in a new mini btc whale army today. All it takes to be part of the "new btc whale order" is to hold at least 1btc. As at last year, the number of wallets holding 1btc was roughly 13,437. But today, that number has grown to 863,000 wallets and counting; thus giving rise to the new "mini btc whale army level ". That could collectively move and disrupt d entire market since they are naturally 'bullish intended'. Just send one solid FUD missile, they will throw away their "badge honors" and caaboom! $100k is ... |
It is now you will hear some financial fatCats like; scaramucci would argue that, "btc is technically Oversold." What T.A chart is he reading from? I get the fact that this dude currently sits on mad money. They will say things that would seem to be in your best interest to promote theirs, and if we are to factor in every crypto influential news, overall btc market volatility and price history in the last 6yrs, one would clearly see; it has all been an euphoria landmine waiting to blow up and rewrite chart history all over again. Few weeks ago, some crypto analysts with same school of thought raised the warning alarm that bottom floor was still not in sight as btc fell and was trading below its 200-weekly moving average at [below $22.4k which it's still currently at it]. And now, if we are to look into these two case scenarios; a falling one which its floor level is not in sight and determined yet while the other scenario which is "technically oversold"? Sounds like whale-tabletalks and bulltrap to me. Journey to $17k is near. |

, the cross as a "Christian" symbol was taken directly from the pagans.
