Politics / Re: Nigeria To Commence Islamic Banking Soon – Sanusi by MrDuerulu(m): 11:33pm On Feb 06, 2011
@ Sapele guy, Islamic bank is a commercial bank just like any other bank open to all customers may be the only difference is that it is intest free.
As for me, I see nothing wrong in having such bank in all the villages in Nigeria, as long as it's interest free. For yrs we have been complaining of high interest rate, it 'll be a big relief for pple who need capital to finance their business.
Unfortunate some Nigerians from other faiths are either brainwashed or ignorant, the stereotype anything affiliated to Islam without caring to know the good or even the bad side of it.
Pls lets have an open mind to new ideas; intead of condemnation, intelligent or logical question should be asked about the banking system.
Politics / Re: AUST Bars Graduating Students From Seeking Jobs Abroad by MrDuerulu(m): 7:03pm On Dec 07, 2010
The sponsor can stop the graduants from seeking job abroads If they were on fully funded scholarship. All PTDF scholars need a letter of consent to from PTDF to remain in the UK without which even if you have secured a job in the UK, UKBA will not give you a work permit. It's a prerequisite for applicants who were on a fully funded scholarship.

What is the essence of planting churches at every 5 minutes walking distance? Do you think it's economical? For God sake, its cheaper having a big church at 15 or 20min distance that runs 2 or 3 sunday services.
Politics / Buhari Rejected Tinubu As Running Mate by MrDuerulu(m): 3:27pm On Nov 15, 2010
The ACN had requested a working arrangement with the CPC leadership, which would have paved the way for the two parties to adopt Buhari as their presidential candidate. The move was conveyed through fiery Lagos-based pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly and Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, Tunde Bakare, who led a delegation to the former Head of State.

But after a series of meetings held to solemnize the arrangement, Sunday Sun learnt that Buhari and the CPC leadership asked to be left out when it got to issue of who becomes the running mate to the former Head of State. Much as the CPC presidential aspirant would have loved the arrangement, close sources revealed to our correspondent that the choice of the former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, as the running mate did not sit well with Buhari.

Buhari reportedly told the meeting that he could not run for the Presidency on a Muslim/Muslim ticket because it would work against him. When reminded of the late Moshood Abiola and Babagana Kingibe Muslim/Muslim ticket for the aborted June 12, 1993 presidential election, which the duo won with a landslide victory on the platform of defunct Social Democratic Party, Buhari was said to have told them that the situation in 2011 would be different from what obtained in 1993.

Sunday Sun sources further informed that Buhari explained that he was already seen as a religious bigot, which he said his detractors threw up because of his principled stand on some issues and that for him to run for the election on a Muslim/Muslim ticket would mean giving his opponents something to latch on to during the campaigns.

The ACN had mooted the idea of adopting Buhari as its presidential candidate despite the entry of the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the former Sokot State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, into the party and declaring their interest in the presidency on the platform of the ACN.

Oga Tinubu, you’re one of the few politicians I hold in high esteem in this dispensation just for one reason; if not for you, there wouldn’t have been an opposition party in Nigeria. But I don’t know why you are bent on becoming the vice president of Nigeria on a muslim/muslim ticket, cos it worked in 1993 does not mean it will work now.
Every student of history knows that the late Sir Ahmadu bello, as the leader of NPC, was supposed to be Prime minister of Nigeria, but he sent Tafawa Balewa. As  the leader of Action congress of Nigeria ACN, I think Tinubu should shop for a good vice presidential candidate from the East or South-South to be Buhari’s running mate instead of presenting himself.
what's your take on this.
Culture / Re: Battle To Preserve Indigenious Languages by MrDuerulu(m): 2:22pm On Nov 15, 2010
A good idea at the right time. I can't understand how some Nigerians cope in Nigeria having only the knowledge of  English eya. It seems most of them  think speaking an indigienous language will affect their english language proficiency another eyaaaaa. Well, I dont blame them but their parents who made english the official language at home at detriment of mother tongue another big eyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  grin.

Politics / Re: Igalas Plead For Political Relevance In Abia by MrDuerulu(m): 1:19pm On Nov 15, 2010
What's the big deal about this post. I have Igbo and yoruba classmates who benefited from Adamawa state scholarship cos their parents have been residing in the state for ages. Some few yrs ago an Igboman, christopher, was elected councillor in one of the Jalingo, Township ward. Former governor of sokoto Attahiru Bafarawa appointed an Igboman as one of his special advisers. I am lonking forward to the day they so called non-indigienes will be appointed as commisioners and elected as local govt chairmen etc especially in states like Lagos and Kano where these pple are contributing to the development of the state ''if not even'' more than the so called native.
Politics / Re: 2011: Fresh Row Over Jonathan’s Ambition by MrDuerulu(m): 12:44am On Oct 28, 2010
For heaven sake! what we need is politics of ideology on how to develop naija not all this regional and tribal politics that will lead us to nowhere. I am sick and tired of North and south dichotomy, what we need is a visionary leader that will reduce corruption (our greatst problem) to the bearest minimum, restore accountability in governance and enforce our laws (nobody should be above the law) Nigeria will developed in no time.
Our so-called elders are not helping matters either do they think we're in the 1st or 2nd republic that the North was in absolute control of naija politics? Times have changed, the masses have realize that the clamor for shifting/retaining power is for selfish interest of the few elites and that is why they are indifferent.
Politics / Re: Why Should The North Dominate This Country? by MrDuerulu(m): 1:35pm On Oct 25, 2010
Honestly, I think the problems affecting naija is larger than North and South(regionalism) and tribalism issues. Our major problems are corruption, lack of accountability and lawlessness; the sooner we the younger generation realises this, the better for us all. Eight yrs of Obasanjo leadership has he improved the living condition of yorubas or southwest? Or Donkey yrs of Northern leadership in naija history has that improved the living condition of an average northerner? Pls, I need an honest answer.
I also wish GEJ rule for 8yrs and an Igboman to rule for another 8 yrs and lets see whether the living condition of their people will improve under this corrupt and lawlessness set up.
Whoever becomes the president to me is not important as long as the person will address our major problems and there is no better time to turn things around than in 2011. Enough of this regional and tribal issue, it 'll lead us to no where.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is Weak -buhari ! by MrDuerulu(m): 12:53pm On Oct 25, 2010
Sending  bill to NASS is not undemocratic; it is the content and the intention of the bill in question that is undemocratic. The bill would have made presidential or let say executive special adivers and assistants and other aids delegates of all political parties not only pdp. That would have given an incumbent presido or gov undue advantage over his opponents during party primaries.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is Weak -buhari ! by MrDuerulu(m): 12:13pm On Oct 25, 2010
Going by what Buhari said as postes here I agree with him.  He cited two instances to butressed his point that our Presido acts b4 he tinks and that signifies poor or weak leadership skills.  GEJ would have lobbied NASS to include those clauses or not to alter it long ago. Where was he when the NASS were amending the constition and the new electoral act?
Religion / Re: Pastor William Kumuyi (Deeper Life) Remarries by MrDuerulu(m): 11:47am On Oct 25, 2010
Is there specified length of time for one to mourn her/his husband/wife b4 re-marrying in christianity? It's 3 or 4 months in Islam afta dat one is free to re-marry. For God sake, 18 months is a reasonable time for any man/woman to marry again afta the death of his/her partner. Some of us complaining here to be honest with ourselves can u survival for 18 months without an opposite sex companionship?
Romance / Re: Tribalism In Relationships by MrDuerulu(m): 9:39pm On Oct 24, 2010
In this generation love should have no rship with tribe but rather the emphasis should be on the qualities u want in ur ideal man/woman. No tribe has monopoly of good men/women or bad ones.

Politics / Re: Court Sees No Problem With Woman Forced Into Marriage With Senator In North by MrDuerulu(m): 8:49pm On Oct 24, 2010
Pls read the news article properly b4 u make comments or else u might sound off. The judge dismissed the case bc the court doesnt hav jurisdiction to hear it. is there anything wrong with that?
The issue force marriage is an ancient practice in Africa even in this generation must us can't claim 2 be ignorant on how influencial some of our parents are when it comes to the choice of who we want to marry. Some parents dictates what tribe and even the village/ the family the guy/lady must come from.
But things are changing now: if it were some few yrs ago, they would have threatened her life ,
I kno certainly that a competent court will rule the case in her favor, it just the matter of time.
