Even if Nigeria increases the price of it's monthly power supply nothing will change rather people will buy more generators to use cause people are not getting the electricity they pay for ,an average Nigerian with generator spend more money on fueling his gen on a daily basis cause there is no light , in my town everyone uses prepared meters the meter turns off when you don't pay , still the light is not constant

Power needs profit to run , how will you make profit if you don't supply power to your costumer's, I have travelled around Nigeria majority of rulers areas in Nigeria are without power supply , majority of Nigerians depend on generators , major companies in Nigeria use their own generator plants for power

It is Never about people not paying for power it is about not generating enough power to supply to the people , the money Nigeria spend on fuel subsidy from the 70s till date could have done alot in the power sector

All these power generating and distribution happens in stages ,if the Nigerian government was serious about achieving that they could have , starting from 1970 till date they could have achieved that , the money wasted mismanaged in the hands of Nigerian from 1970 till date it's enough to achieve that

Power generation and distribution is not something you budget $900 billion Cash at hand and make it happen, it a stage by stage process which Nigeria failed to follow through

They need to invest and provide stable electricity first then see if people wont pay

For example a friend of mine is paying 6 million naira per month,his company is near Army barrack so they give him light atleast 18hours a day but my own factory that is situated in so called residential district as they grouped it get like 24hrs of electricity in a month
They give me 200k bill but i refused to pay,cut off their light and rely on generator,even though i spend like 12 million naira on diesel every month,it gives me joy than paying 200k to Nepa for the light they did not supply me

Even with little electricity we are generating,if they have sense,they will priotise companies and establisment,make sure all the major roads in nigeria get 24 hours electricity supply and mandate companies to leave residential areas and move to major roads to get stable stupply,by doing this they can get enough money to reinvest in the business
for example,the Nigerian brewery that i know is now using Solar and cocacola is also using diesel

That's just it , Nigerians are willing to pay as long as the light is constantly stable ,alot of businesses factories companies folded up in Nigeria cause of lack of power supply

It's never about profit , Nigerians pay for electricity that they don't even use

As long as all regions are under a centralized federal government and not autonomous regions , the centralized federal government will have to take the blame of the error's and failures of all regions cause all the natural resources from all regions belongs to the federal

The reason why we have low on and off electricity is because the low bills do not allow the DISCOS and GENCOS to make enough profit to make improvements, and to pay the TCN to make improvements too.(which is why TCN is fighting them over money).

If you think low bills is the reason Nigeria doesn't have constant electricity then you have little knowledge of the power problem in Nigeria , all these companies you mentioned are just power distribution companies

Modern democracy can not work in Nigeria cause Nigeria is still heavily held by tribalism religious bigotries , and one section of a country try as much as it can to keep it's united majority by not giving modern education to their people cause they fear modern western education will break the unity that makes them the majority to rule

And like I said all regions are under a centralized federal government ruled by illiterate even the literates have to kiss the butts of the illiterates to gain political favours in this country ,so the political structure of the country is a mess

I know in some Areas, Nepa are not doing Well at all.

Compare how constant electricity is in other countries to Nigeria , it's better to pay higher for constant electricity than pay low for on and off electricity
