Ongoing Federal Projects in the South-East (2023–2025)

1). 17.55 km Access Road Linking Second Niger Bridge (Anambra Side)

A concrete expressway connecting the monumental Second Niger Bridge to major arterial roads in Anambra.

This project removes the bottleneck around Onitsha and opens up commercial access for the region.

2). Enugu–Onitsha Expressway (A6 Corridor)

107 km highway under full-scale reconstruction through MTN’s Tax Credit Scheme.

As of March 2025, 50–70% completed.

Expected delivery: May 10, 2026 (handled by RCC Nigeria Ltd).

Includes rehabilitation of feeder roads:

Ozalla–Akpugo–Onitsha

Nenwe–Nmaku

9th Mile–Orokam

Over 60 federal roads are being fixed across Enugu and surrounding states, executed by Arab Contractors, CGC, RCC, IDC, Setraco, etc.

[b]3). Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway (Section II: Umuahia–Aba)[/b]

56 km stretch currently undergoing total rehabilitation.

Earthworks largely done as of April 2025, with just 2 km remaining and 4 km asphalt finishing.

A key North–South commercial artery now being fully restored.

4). Other Major Federal Road Projects

Extensive work ongoing across the region:

Ihiala–Orlu

Oba–Nnewi–Okigwe

Owerri–Umuahia

Nsukka–Obollo‑Ikem

Bende–Ohafia–Arochukwu

Abakaliki–Afikpo

5). Eastern Railway Revival — $3 Billion Allocation

Under President Tinubu, the long-abandoned Port Harcourt–Enugu–Maiduguri Railway has received a $3 billion allocation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

When complete, this will:

Connect Aba and Onitsha directly to the North

Unlock ₦50 billion annually in trade and logistics value

Modernize transport for millions of Southeasterners and traders

For decades, this vital corridor was neglected — now it’s being revived.

Unfortunately, our people choose tribe and sentiments over development.
Even if Tinubu turns the entire SE into a place more beautiful than Dubai, they will still not like him. They will prefer a Peter Obi as President who will do nothing for anyone in 8 years and have the bragging right that an igbo man is the President, than someone who will really develop our region.

For 6 years under GEJ a president the South-East voted for en masse none of this happened. Not one road of this scale. Not one railway. Not one billion-naira intervention of this kind. And yet, loyalty was unquestioned.

Time to Think Differently

If development truly matters, it should be acknowledged when it’s happening regardless of who is in power. PBAT’s track record in just 2 years shows that leadership isn’t about ethnicity it’s about results. But then hate will never allow my people to see this truth.

How will pH -enugu-maiduguri train corridor connect to Onitsha? See all these roads you're mentioning here that was the same way we heard during buhari yet nothing is happening so stop deceiving yourself, few that were done was through ppp, mtn etc with little fg support

And for pdp and Obi you mentioned, the region benefited much than any other government, PDPs obj dualized Onitsha/Owerri expressway, settled all the property, villages and communities along the right of way, PO through gej rebuild 10 lane super highway in Onitsha, they built some power stations and the economy of the East was generally doing well at the time. So stop talking what you don't know just because others are taking.

Gov. Okpebholo as the chief security officer of the state has the right to tell Obi what he said. We know how destructive obidients are online and in person and to avoid unnecessary chaos in the state, Mr Obi should inform the governor so that appropriate security measures will be implemented before his arrival.

What about you, if you're visiting will you inform him, perhaps every Nigerian too, is Obi not a private citizen?
