The Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’ of the Nigeria Customs Service in Owerri says it has confiscated 12 illegally imported cars and contraband with Duty Paid Value of N240m in the last one week.
The Unit Controller, Comptroller Kayode Olusemire, made this known on Friday in its Benin office while taking journalists round the goods confiscated along Benin axis.
He said that three suspects were arrested in connection with the seized items who are helping customs with information.
Olusemire gave a breakdown of the confiscated items to include an Iveco Truck with a DPV of N4.05m carrying 633 bags of 50kg foreign rice valued at N16.20m, and concealed with cartons of Lucozade Boost and Ribena worth N1.82m, all totalling N22.08m.
Also impounded is another Iveco Truck with DPV of N4.05m, with 1,680 crates of 33 beer worth N4.44m, and 175 bags of 50kg foreign rice with DPV of N4.48m, totalling N12.96m.

The Custom Zone ‘C’ boss said that the owners of the cars evaded paying legal duties on them and appealed to importers to always go to the ports or custom offices nearest to them to pay their duties.
“Custom is ready anytime and anywhere to tackle smugglers. South-South, South-East is no more heaven for smugglers. No matter the system they use, we will fish them out,” he said. Celebrities › Davido & Chioma’s Relationship Still Intact – Friends by MrGist(op): 5:41am On Oct 21, 2018 |
It was recently reported that pop star Davido’s celebrated relationship with his girlfriend, Chioma Rowland, had crashed like a pack of badly arranged cards on account of infidelity on the singer’s part. It was further stated that Davido, who has two daughters with two different baby mamas, had impregnated another woman.
However, investigations by Sunday Scoop revealed that the love between the couple still waxes strong. They were recently spotted together at different events since the story broke. When Sunday Scoop also spoke with some friends and associates of the pop star, they denied being aware of any crack in the relationship.
One of Davido’s aides, who is usually with the singer, but spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “If I had a dime for every time there have been rumours about Davido, I guess I would be the richest person in Africa by now. I don’t know why Nigerians don’t like to celebrate good news. They always prefer bad news and that’s so sad. Which other artiste is flaunting their relationship as much as David shows off Chioma? They are truly in love with each other and nothing can shake them. Some people are just trying to sow a seed of discord into their relationship but it will not work. I can tell you for free that I have never seen David as happy as he is whenever he is with Chioma. They understand each other and that’s what counts the most. The more rumours are spread about their relationship, the stronger the love between them gets.”
Another close friend of the Skelewu singer, who preferred not to be named, said, “Ordinarily, I don’t respond to rubbish news like that but I will answer you because of the respect I have for you. I was with both of them over the weekend and everything is cool between them. Let outsiders keep saying whatever they want, those who are close to the couple know that their relationship is on a solid footing.”
Meanwhile, Davido isn’t the only one who has been hit with allegations of cheating. Some months ago, a Twitter user alleged that Chioma has had affairs with several students in Babcock University and had cheated on Davido. However, the unsubstantiated allegation was not responded to by Davido or Chioma. News via Gistmore - http://gistmore.com/davido-chiomas-relationship-still-intact-friendsLalasticlala mynd44

The police will on October 31 arraign the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the recent Osun State election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for alleged examination malpractice, criminal conspiracy, and impersonation.
The police also accused the senator of presenting a forged birth certificate, stating that in his National Examination Council 2017 result obtained by detectives, he claimed that he was born on June 12, 1997, but in his statement to the police, the senator wrote May 13, 1960 as his date of birth.
Adeleke would be arraigned alongside his co-accused – Sikiru Adeleke; the Principal of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau; a worker who handled the registration of candidates for NECO in the school, Mr. Gbadamosi Ojo; and a teacher who allegedly facilitated the crime, Mr. Dare Olutope.
Adeleke’s arraignment under the Examination Malpractice Act, CAP E15, 2004, failed to hold on Tuesday following his absence before Justice Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The Force had a few days to the Osun election, filed criminal charges against the PDP governorship candidate and four others at the Federal High Court and directed him to report to the Special Investigation Panel, Force headquarters, Abuja, immediately to answer the charges.
The arraignment was, however, suspended by the Presidency following criticisms by Nigerians who felt that the action was politically motivated and calculated to humiliate him and frustrate his electoral chances.
The police had explained that on July 21, 2017, the Osun State Police Intelligence Bureau received and acted on an actionable intelligence about an ongoing examination malpractice involving Senator Adeleke and Sikiru at Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School in the state.
But while the police were taking steps to prosecute Adeleke, the Force failed to investigate or prosecute a former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, for certificate forgery.
Adeosun resigned as minister on September 14 following an investigation which indicted her for presenting a forged National Youth Service Corps exemption certificate.
She subsequently left for London, United Kingdom less than 24 hours after tendering her resignation letter.
The police claimed that they had no idea that she was involved in the forgery of the NYSC exemption certificate.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, told our correspondent in Abuja on Friday, that there was no formal complaint against the ex-minister. He explained that Adeosun was not prosecuted for forgery because she was not investigated by the Force.
“We don’t know anything about her case because nobody reported any matter to us, we didn’t have any complaint against her, and nobody complained or reported to us. The Force has no knowledge of any case,” Moshood stated.
When told that the matter was covered by the media for months, he retorted, “Did you (our correspondent) report to us?”
Reminded that a non-governmental organisation, Human and Environmental Development Agenda Resource Centre, had petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to probe the forgery allegations against Adeosun before she resigned, Moshood directed further inquiries to the NGO. Culture › Necessary Rites Performed On Prophetess Naomi, Ooni’s New Wife – Palace by MrGist(op): 5:07am On Oct 20, 2018 |
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has unveiled his new wife, Olori Moronke Naomi Silekunola. The Palace of Ooni of Ife announced this on Friday in a statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs of the Palace, Mr. Moses Olafare. The Palace confirmed that necessary rites had been fully performed for the union between Ogunwusi, who turned 44 years old on October 17, and the new bride, who is a prophetess and founder of the En-Heralds, an interdenominational ministry. The new marriage was contracted about 14 months after Ogunwusi’s marriage with Wuraola Zaynab Otiti-Obanor ended. The statement read, “There was jubilation in Ile Ife as the Arole Oodua, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, received his queen on Thursday, October 19, 2018. “Her Majesty, Olori Moronke Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, is the new Yeyeluwa Oodua. Necessary rites fully performed.” It was gathered that the traditional wedding was done in Akure, the Ondo State capital before the new bride was brought to the palace on Thursday night. The new Olori, who was dressed in white attire was ushered into the palace by some traditional chiefs and was taken to Ogunwusi after the rites had been performed. The Ooni had earlier announced her marriage on his Instagram page while showering encomiums on his new wife. Ogunwusi admonished the new queen to deploy the fear of God, which he described as the greatest weapon with which she could reign together with him on the throne. The new Olori’s En-Heralds ministry is based in Akure, Ondo State. She was said to have started the ministry at the age of 18 and become a full-time evangelist in October 2011. The Health MEC in Limpopo, South Africa, Phophi Ramathu has called on communities to support pupils living with the virus so that they do not default on their treatment.
Phophi Ramathu (pictured) has revealed that there are 36 pupils pregnant at one school around the Mulenzhe village.
The MEC who visited schools in the village ahead of matric examinations, also said said there was also an increase in new HIV infections at both primary and secondary schools.
Ramathu said 31 pupils between the age of nine and 19 were now living with the virus and she called upon the community to join forces in supporting them so that they do not default on their treatment.
She told pupils that the government did not appoint midwives to run schools but rather teachers to educate pupils because there is no room for pregnancy in our schools.
“Time for blame game is gone, let’s own up as a society that we have failed to provide guidance and leadership to our children. It will take parents, communities, educators, men of the cloth, health workers, police, social workers, and learners themselves to deal with these challenges,” Ramathu said. Politics › EFCC Charges Fayose, Hotel With N1.3bn Fraud by MrGist(op): 1:16am On Oct 20, 2018 |
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed corruption charges against a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, and his hotel, Spotless Investment Limited, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.
It was learnt that the EFCC filed the charges before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Fayose is accused of receiving about N1.3bn when he “ought to have known that the said fund formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful activity of Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), the then National Security Adviser, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended in 2012) and punishable under Section 15 (3) of the same Act.”
The former governor was accused of sending his aide, Abiodun Agbele, to receive about N1.3bn from a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, sometime in June 2014.
The money was said to have emanated from Dasuki’s office.
According to the EFCC, the N1.3bn was flown to Akure Airport and Obanikoro handed over the money to Agbele, who is also standing trial for corruption.
The EFCC said officials of Zenith Bank arrived at the Akure Airport tarmac in a bullion van to convey all the cash to the bank’s vault located at 13, Alagbaka Estate, Akure.
Attached as evidence are bank tellers Agbele allegedly gave as bank instructions at different times to pay in money into Fayose’s Zenith Bank account even after the elections.
According to the commission, Agbele directed the bank to pay N137m into the account of Ayodele Fayose with number 1003126654 and Bank Verification Number 22338867502. The bank teller dated June 26, 2014, was filled by Agbele with teller number 0556814.
Agbele also allegedly directed the bank to transfer N118,760,000 to the same account and paid in N50m cash into Fayose’s account.
The commission said on April 7, 2015, several months later, Fayose personally moved N300m to his fixed deposit account at Zenith Bank with number 9013074033 with his same BVN.
The account is domiciled at 15 Olusola Abiona Street, Estate, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.
According to the anti-graft agency, on the instruction of Fayose, Agbele deposited N100m to the account of Spotless Investment Limited, a hotel which is owned by Fayose and his wife, Olayemi.
Fayose allegedly used part of the money to buy houses in Abuja and Lagos. The houses have since been seized while his bank accounts with a balance of N380m have been frozen.
No date has been fixed for hearing. News via Gistmore - http://gistmore.com/efcc-charges-fayose-hotel-n1-3bn-fraudLalasticlala mynd44 Dominique

As the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) digs deeper into the graft accusation against ex-governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti, it has released photos of his properties.
The Spokesman for the Commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, released copies of the pictures on Wednesday.
According to him, the properties were uncovered while the anti-graft agency was investigating the allegations of corruption against the former governor.
He alleged that Mr Fayose purchased the property with the money he purportedly received from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
“In the course of investigating corruption allegations against ex-governor Ayodele Fayose, especially the N1.3billion which he collected from the office of the National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, the Commission unearthed evidence that he laundered the funds into the acquisition of properties in choice locations in Abuja and Lagos,” Mr Wilson alleged.
The EFCC released the pictures a day after the former governor arrived at its head office in Abuja, in company with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and a former minister, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, among other well-wishers.
Fayose had in September promised to report at the anti-corruption agency’s office after handing over government to his successor, Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Mr. Lere Olayinka, the media aide to Fayose, says his boss has since denied the allegations and insisted that he should be charged to court.
“Today is his second day in EFCC custody and I can say that his spirit is high, and his will remains very strong,” he said on Wednesday.
Olayinka: “The commission has started its usual lies by claiming that it discovered houses bought by Fayose with public fund.
“Nigerians should recall that in 2016, operatives of this same EFCC attempted to seal up a guest house located at Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, claiming that it belonged to Fayose. Whereas, the building belonged to a retired Army general.”

A notorious cultist and ex-convict, Ibrahim Oriyomi Balogun (AKA Small Jpron), whom the police have accused of carrying out multiple murders around Somolu and Bariga areas of Lagos, has been killed. Jpron, the leader of Eiye cult group, was reportedly killed, yesterday, in retaliation of the killing of one Solomon, said to the a member of Aiye cult. Jpron allegedly supervised the killing of Solo in Shomolu. . Yesuru, a third person involved in the violence, is reportedly battling for his life due to wounds sustained during the clash. . Before his death, Jpron had been arrested at least four times in the past – in November 2012, August 2016, March 2017 – on allegations of murder and cult-related activities. . He was arraigned in 2016 for murder, possession of firearms and for belonging to a cult. Shortly after his arrest in 2016, he surfaced in public again and the police said he escaped custody. . When he was earlier paraded before journalists in 2016, he confessed to being involved in the killing of three persons. He had said, “I am an Eiye cult leader. I joined the cult in 2009. The reason for my joining was to avenge the death of a close friend, Sunday Folorunsho, aka Small Biscuit. It was the Aiye cult members who killed him. So, the Eiye faction approached me and said I should join them. . They said they would help me to fish out the people who killed my friend. I have killed three persons, among are Femi Wiper and Lekan Akon.” . When he was paraded before journalists in March 2017, the Commissioner of Police at the time, Fatai Owoseni, said Balogun escaped through the connivance of two police operatives, who were being investigated. Crime › EFCC To Arraign NFF Director For Diverting N3.4bn FIFA Fund (Photo) by MrGist(op): 2:23am On Oct 16, 2018 |
A Federal Capital Territory High Court has fixed October 18 for the arraignment of a Director in the Nigeria Football Federation, Christopher Andekin, and two other officials who were accused of perpetrating fraud to the tune of $9.5m (N3.4bn).
The EFCC said in a statement by its spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, that Andekin, who is the Director of Finance, as well as the cashier, Rajan Zaka, and the Head, Finance and Accounts, Jafaru Mamza, were supposed to have been arraigned on Monday on five counts of fraud.
However, the arraignment could not hold because their counsel said he had just been served with the charge sheet and therefore asked for more time to study the charges.
The trio in 2015 allegedly diverted money to the tune of $9,535,923.87 belonging to the federation to personal use. The money was a grant given by the Federation of International Football Association, for the development of football in Nigeria.
It is also alleged that Andekin fraudulently diverted N1, 353,407.22 from the domiciliary account of the NFF domiciled in one of the new generation banks, without due process.
Particulars of one of the counts read, “That you, Christopher Andekin, being the Director of Admin and Finance of the Nigeria Football Federation on or about 8th day of January to 26th day of January 2015 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja while being entrusted with dominion over money meant for the development of football in Nigeria, a grant from the Federation of International Football Association to NFF fraudulently, diverted the sum of N1,353,407.22 from the NFF domiciliary account No. 5070407456 with the Zenith Bank into your personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code Cap 532 LFN 1990 and punishable under Section 312 of the same Code.”
Another count read, “That you, Rajan Zaka, being a cashier with the Nigeria Football Federation in Abuja within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja while being entrusted with dominion over money meant for the development of football in Nigeria, a grant from the Federation of International Football Association to NFF fraudulently, diverted the sum of $6,490,900.48 from the NFF domiciliary account No. 5070407456 with the Zenith Bank into your personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code Cap 532 LFN 1990 and punishable under Section 312 of the same Code.”
Justice Affem asked the parties to come on October 18 for the arraignment. News via Gistmore :: http://gistmore.com/efcc-arraign-nff-director-diverting-n3-4bn-fifa-fund

A South African preacher made his congregation eat grass to 'be closer to God' before stamping on them. Under the instruction of Pastor Lesego Daniel of Rabboni Centre Ministries dozens of followers dropped to the floor to eat the grass at his ministry in Garankuwa, north of Pretoria after being told it will 'bring them closer to God.' His controversial methods have drawn criticism from thousands of people although members of his congregation swear by his methods - he is said to have claimed that humans can eat anything to feed their bodies and survive on whatever they choose to eat.
