A Lagos-based DJ, Seun Omogaji, has allegedly taken his own life, moments after leaving a note on Instagram.
According to an inside source, Seun drank “Sniper,” an insecticide.

A man has been able to locate address of Policeman that extorted him and his friends, thanks to Google Map.

According to the man with the handle @Iam_liltorn on twitter, 3 policemen arrested them and made away with their phones and at the same time extorted them of the sum of N3000.

But unfortunately for one of them, he was able to track the loction of one of the phones, which directed to a certain street in Ikeja.

Day I broke my ankle after being unlawfully arrested by some 3 policemen not wearing uniform but they have their IDcards(deyshowedme) I managed to escape but they have 2 of my friend’s phone with them. I managed to use Google to find the phone location.

We were arrested just after Berger round about yesterday 3 police men

They demanded for 300k we had just 3k left with us. I was going to perform for a show(which I am not even being paid for) I explained to them that I am an artiste and allowed them search me. They found nothing but still insisted we followed them to the station

I tried talking them into collecting 2k at least mehn I can’t lose on both ends come all d way from tollgate abulegba for a free show and still end up paying Men in Black money for what exactly?

Told my friends we have to run before this idiot take us to their station then start another case on our head or find some case to rope us with cuz Berger police are found if that.. That’s the home address of one of them holding one of my friends phone.

I don’t know how they can be found but an sure someone would know this street or something even if the @PoliceNG are not ready to look into this issue. By the way I thought they told them to stop harrasing innocent citizens already

Actor, TV presenter and model, Uti Nwachukwu, speaks to JOY MARCUS on his career, marriage and other issues

How did you come into the entertainment industry?

As a Big Brother Africa star, a lot of doors were opened to me. Inasmuch as I didn’t win the BBA 3, it still gave me leverage in the entertainment industry. I have not always had interest in acting because my first love was music; so, I always wanted to be a music star. Acting and hosting events came naturally to me, and I was doing it while in school. As for acting, I used to mimic a lot of people and my friends told me that I should become an actor.

What was your parent’s reaction when you told them about BBA?

I didn’t tell them; I only told my sisters. When I got back from the competition, they were proud of me but they said my dad was shocked. I made them happy though I was evicted the first time. Sadly, when I won the BBA 5, my dad had passed on. It was a difficult year for my mother; so, watching me in the house was the only thing that put a smile on her face.

Who gave you your first opportunity in the entertainment industry?

I was given my first opportunity in acting (movies) by Ini Edo and Moses Inwang but for television series, it was Ruke Amata. For TV presenting, I was given an opportunity by Diamond Group Production on a show called, You and I.

How much were you paid for your first movie?

As far back as 2008, I think I was paid N100,000 which was a huge sum as of that time; especially for someone who was not even popular. I was surprised but I reasoned that it was because of the BBA platform.

If you have the opportunity, would you feature in Yoruba movies?

I am an actor; so, I should be open to playing any role. I can’t speak Yoruba but I can learn. There are actors in other countries that learn new languages for a movie. I used to say I would never do an epic movie but I ended up acting in my first epic movie this year. The movie is titled, Trials of Ma’pe, and the reception was really great.

What is your view on the state of the Nigerian entertainment industry?

I will like to see more government funding in the industry. The government should take the entertainment industry as seriously as they take the oil and gas industry. In advanced climes, entertainment industries get a lot of support from their governments. At this time, we ought to have a movie village (in this country).

What are some of the challenges you face on the job?

I would say time management because sometimes, you have so much to do in so little time. However, I love it because it keeps me going. I have been able to prioritise and learn how to work my way around the time.

Since you love music, do you have the intention of releasing any single or album soon?

For fun and pleasure definitely but (not) to make money from it hopefully. I make alternative music; so, I will feature a couple of artistes that do same such as Simi and Adekunle Gold. Next year, I want to start featuring in more movies. I know I said movies don’t pay a lot but I have many friends who are also producers and they have started booking me for roles.

We hardly see you and Alex Ekubo on red carpets anymore, unlike before when the two of you were inseparable. Did you have a fallout?

Can we move to the next question please? I don’t talk about my personal life in interviews.

Some of your colleagues got married in 2018. When do you intend to settle down?

I don’t know when but when it happens, it happens. With the way people are marrying and getting divorced, one has to think twice before going into it. I have met more unhappy couples than happily married couples in my life. It is really scary because if marriage was such a beautiful thing, why are there many unhappy couples. If you check statistics, most married people are complaining. However, I will get married by God’s grace. I will not marry out of my own understanding. I don’t want to be a divorcee; so, I am taking my time. I am currently working on my patience and tolerance level. I am learning how to live peacefully because I am used to having things my way.

What were your childhood ambitions?

I am living it right now. I grew up in Ughelli, Delta State, and my parents prevented us from playing with other kids on the streets; so, they stocked the house with movies. This inspired me to become what I watched. The only thing remaining for me to be fulfilled is to cross to Hollywood; then, I will be satisfied.

Which schools did you attend?

I studied Computer Science and Education at the Benson Idahosa University, Benin City. I can actually practise and become a teacher. I finished well with a 3.9 GPA. If I wasn’t an entertainer, I would probably be working in a telecommunications firm.

There is no doubt that pop star, Dapo Oyebanjo, aka D’banj, is one of the most energetic Nigerian performers of his generation. The singer is known to induce euphoria in people who attend his shows with the stunts he pulls on stage.

However, the Mobolowowon singer lost his only son some months ago and many felt it would affect his mojo. He seemed to go off the grid immediately after the tragedy and some even feared that the singer might not be able to put in his usual zeal into his music career.

However, the singer has bounced back from the unfortunate incident though he was badly hurt. He performed at most of the events that took place during the Yuletide and it was vintage D’banj.

At the end-of-year party of a real estate company, D’banj gave such a spectacular performance that fans didn’t want him to leave the stage. During his performance, the singer also revealed how he was able to get through the death of his son.

He said, “I have been through tough times but I believe that’s what makes one a man. You all know what happened to me recently when I lost my son; it was really a tough time for me. But do you know how I was able to get through it? It was because of you, my fans. You showed me so much love and it really meant a lot to me and my family. It is when certain things happen to you that you will know whether you are a man or not. That incident was a test for me and I am glad that I’m still standing.”

Speaking on what he has for the coming year, D’banj said, “You just have to keep your fingers crossed because I have a lot of things in stock for you. I am back, bigger and better. Some people thought my career will go down but I’m still here shining. The fans still loves me and that’s what counts. I am very glad that I have very loyal fans who have been with me from the start. I don’t take that for granted because not every artiste has that privilege.”

Lending words of advice to the people at the event, Oyebanjo said, “You should never be discouraged from following your dreams. When I started my career, so many people said I wouldn’t make it. They thought I wouldn’t go far and they ridiculed me because I was playing the harmonica but look who is standing here now.”

Flogging is common for a range of offences in the region at the tip of Sumatra island, including gambling, drinking alcohol, and having gay sex or relations outside of marriage.

It is the only province in Indonesia that imposes Islamic law.

The two men whipped on Wednesday were arrested this year — one for having sex with his underage step-daughter and the other for engaging in relations with a neighbour who was also below the age of consent.

The 100-stroke punishment is reserved for the most severe crimes and the pair were also sentenced to as much as five years in prison.

The Lagos State Police Command has described as “misplaced” a tweet credited to the head of the Police Complaint Rapid Response Unit, Abayomi Shogunle, who said that having sex in a car is not criminal. The Command spokesperson, Chike Oti, said it was indecent to have sex in a car in public place, and that it’s not only in Lagos, but also in the entire country.

He said that under Lagos laws, couples are liable to between two- to three-year imprisonment upon conviction.

Shogunle in a tweet, had said, “Sex in a car in a public place is not a crime in Nigeria provided;

Location is not a place of worship
Parties are 18yrs+
The act is consensual (agreed to by parties)
Parties are of opposite sex
If threatened with arrest over above, pls contact @POLICENG_PCRRU.”

But Oti said the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had received legal advice on the matter.

He said, “The CP Lagos has been advised by the Director of Public Prosecution of the state Ministry of Justice and the Legal Department of the State Police Command, Panti, Yaba, with relevant sections of the law as follows: Section 134 (a) Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 prohibits any indecent act in any public place without lawful excuse.

“The law holds that such person is liable on conviction to two years’ imprisonment.

“Section 136 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 provides that any person who commits any act of gross indecency with another person in public commits an offence and liable on conviction to three years’ imprisonment.

“It must be noted that Section 134 which deals with offences against morality, particularly section 134 (a), has it that indecent act in a public place makes both parties engaging in the act liable to imprisonment for two years.

“In the same vein, Section 231 of the Criminal Code Act, which is a Federal law and applicable in states other than the northern states where Penal Code is applicable, also make Indecent Acts punishable.

“Going forward, the authorities of the Lagos State Police Command hereby declare that the assertion that sex in a car in a public place is not a crime in Nigeria is misplaced, as the provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State prohibit such acts in public, even if it is done with consent of the other party.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, wants Lagosians to be guided by relevant sections of the law against such acts.”
