I’m not sure if she’s a doctor, but she’s definitely a top-tier interior designer. She relocated back to Lagos, and her Instagram is @vibabella. I believe she now has a showroom in Victoria Island. I really admire her work—her interiors are exquisite and very classy.
PoliticsRe: Does Nigeria Have Air Defense System? by mrjojo: 7:56am On Jun 25, 2025
When has Nigeria ever truly needed those kinds of capabilities? The last time we made any serious move toward acquiring military tech was during the civil war—and even then, it was limited.

The truth is, the Black race as a whole hasn’t historically been seen as a dominant or expansionist force globally. For the most part, our environment hasn’t pushed us into the kind of high-stakes survival situations that drive rapid innovation, especially in military technology. Innovation often comes from necessity, from the need to protect or assert oneself. But because we haven't faced constant existential threats, that urgency just hasn’t been there.

We don’t have hostile neighbors breathing down our necks.
We’re not locked in fierce competition over scarce resources.
We’re not aggressively expanding, inventing, or making power plays on the world stage.

As a result, no major power really sees us as a threat.

On top of that, we don’t have the kind of economic muscle it takes to fund long-term, high-cost R&grin. Our universities aren’t yet producing the kind of breakthroughs that shift global dynamics. most of the final year projects are suya paper in waitinggrin And maybe most importantly, we don’t have national unity around any shared strategic vision.

In a strange way, our very vulnerability acts like a shield—no one takes us seriously enough to target us.

If the Nigerian elite had even half a brain cell dedicated to strategy, they’d realize there’s a goldmine in the frustration of Nigerians in the diaspora. Just fix the basics—electricity and security (yes, the bare minimum)—and watch the return flights flood in. These folks would bring back enough investment and know-how to transform the country in 10 years flat. But no

Quick update. Finished last year with over $1 million in revenue. Should be closer to $3 million but for our useless Naira. Now thinking of expansion. Recently received an offer from a competitor to acquire the company. Angling for a $10 million price. If it works out, it would have been a worthwhile decade of hard work and sweat. Watch this space as I share the acquisition process.
Your tenacity is truly remarkable—well done on a well-deserved exit. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the profit margin on these? If I remember correctly, you’re in the healthcare niche, right?

That said, there is a thread on raising children in the UK somewhere in the Travel Section.
You and Panso are sages, with holistic perspectives, deep insights, and a nuanced understanding that are truly awe-inspiring. Most people wouldn’t give this much thought, as they’re too stressed from picking up shifts and believe that providing necessities and maybe good schools is enough.

Hi Sheblayze,Gerrard59, Pansophist

I hope you don’t mind me reaching out like this. I’ve been following your diary for a long time and truly appreciate your refreshing perspectives—they often resonate deeply with me.

I noticed we’re both based in the UK and left Nigeria around the same time. Recently, I’ve been reflecting critically on the rise in heinous crimes committed by Black individuals. It’s a topic that weighs heavily on me because, as we know, the actions of one Black person often impact the entire community. I’ve found myself increasingly apprehensive when I see Black people behaving rashly, as we already struggle with a negative reputation.

Living outside London, I’ve experienced and witnessed passive racism firsthand. For example, I’ve seen women cross the street at night out of fear, or noticed the subtle looks I get when walking with a white colleague. At first, these experiences felt strange, but over time, I’ve come to understand the underlying reasons. Black people are a minority in the UK, so any crime committed by a Black individual tends to be amplified. In a society where news consumption is high, the repeated portrayal of Black individuals as perpetrators of violent crimes—such as stabbings or gang-related activities—creates a damaging boomerang effect on how the entire community is perceived.

This has made me deeply concerned about starting a family and raising a balanced Black child in this environment. Cases like Axel Rudakubana and Valdo Calocane have been particularly troubling. Both committed horrific crimes that are almost beyond words—Axel killed three innocent children and could have taken more lives, while Valdo killed three random strangers in Nottingham. The ripple effects of such crimes on public perception of Black people will be devastating.

I’ve been trying to identify patterns or psychological factors that might explain their actions, hoping to learn how to be a better parent. Were they influenced by being first-generation immigrants? Were their parents too busy to be actively involved in their upbringing? Did their environment, schools, or peer groups play a role? Did they struggle with feelings of not belonging or trauma passed down from their parents? These questions keep circling in my mind.

Ultimately, I’m left wondering: How do you raise a confident, well-adjusted Black child in the UK—one who embraces their uniqueness, has strong self-esteem(Alanis Ogundipe comes to mind), and isn’t easily swayed or bullied? Would sending them to private schools or living in a better neighborhood make a difference? Who do I need to become to be a good Role model etc

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, as your insights always provide a fresh perspective. Thank you

Seun:
Fellow Nairalanders,

I'm pleased to wish you a Happy New Year!!

2024 will be the year of Nairaland's resurgence. I will face Nairaland squarely like I used to before the discouraging Data Loss Incident of 2014. I will hire more hands to help us to improve Nairaland.

The problems of Nairaland that we should have solved years ago will be solved.

* We will defeat tribalists, trolls, & spammers.
* We will complete our advertising platform.
* We will improve the UI and UX.
* Home page topics will be educative & fresh.
* We will reverse the anti-women trends.

However, I must warn you that things will get worse before they get better. Please stand with us and fight for us as Nairaland faces the tough challenges of 2024, which have already started.

Happy New Year and thanks for using Nairaland!

Seun Osewa,
Nairaland's Founder.
Any updates on this? The year is almost over, and it seems like you've spent most of it focused on X and acting as a pseudo-publicist for your parent church's ministry—which is pretty ironic, considering you're an atheist.

Let me take the reins for a year with some hardline targets. If i fail, I'll pay you 50M(can be escrowed) . If I succeed , you'll bring me on board with a 30% share for 300M(negotiable).

I don't expect any response

Hey there,
I've been following your journey for a while, and your quest for stability, determination, and perseverance is truly inspiring. Well done! I hope you find what you're looking for soon, and I hope Canada is everything you've wished for.
I have a quick question: What tech stack would you recommend for rapidly developing an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for directory web apps? The app needs basic location and filter functionality, with an easy way to update data. I'm considering no-code solutions or developing a React app that can be easily edited, as I'm looking to create more than 10-20 directories with similar functionalities.
Would love your insights on the most time efficient approach.

How did "Maggi" become such a staple and almost a non-negotiable ingredient in Nigerian cuisine? Nestlé owns the Maggi brand, but what were Nigerians using for seasoning before its introduction?

"To know yourself is the beginning of all wisdom." - Aristotle

By age 40, you should have a clear understanding of your values and yourself. Despite how simple this sounds, most people go through life without truly knowing themselves.
Stay healthy - watch what you eat and avoid unhealthy habits like drinking beer and eating heavy foods. There's no excuse for having a pot belly at 40.

I was finally allowed to enter the house around 11pm.

I have decided to get separated. My BP is at 200+ and I know I'm at high risk. I have to consider a lot of factors, my children school, when I decide to leave, school needs to be in break so there's no disruption for them.

My mum is away for a burial and won't be back till December, so I need to be sure I have someone to help me settle down, the last times, she was with the kids while I went to work, and the transition was easier for me.

Getting a one bedroom apartment in a good part of Lagos, I need about N1.7m which I never planned for. So I have given myself till December to be able to sort myself. I am done hopping to my sister's house. I also intend to as much as possible avoid any form of conflict, continue with status quo.

My brother would have been ready to help me out with finance but he would escalate the issue because he's already angry and I don't want any more drama.

My sister is aware of my current situation and I know I have someone who would be with me in secret through this whole process. Thank you all so much, I appreciate.
why are you scared of your brother escalating this? If he kills you before December ? Save your self first and do it now! You seems too cold headed, intelligent to be locked out constantly like a homeless dog.
FamilyRe: Frustrated And In Need To Advice by mrjojo: 6:12pm On Oct 18, 2024
The saying " I'm staying because of my my children" is outdated and belongs in the past . Most of our mothers stayed in a loveless, Misery of a marriage because of their children because the man was the sole provider and they wouldn't be able to cope without his provision.

Everyone deserves happiness, YOU, your kids(two happy divorced parent is better than a vile, unhappy home), even your husband. Thankfully you can take care of yourself, Separate for a while to allow some breathing space between you two, if after 6 months of separation there is no resolution in sight, Divorce and move on with joint custody of the kids.

You only live this short life once—live it happily or in pursuit of happiness.

I have worked hard all my life. Starting from when I'm small about 9 years start living with people who are not my parents. I started hustling for money when I was in junoir secondary up to tertiary education just having one certificate. I didn't further ahead. I had to drop to face life. Na me be last born for my family as everybody don Bleep up, them come put hope for me say na me go make am. I go raise the family from poverty. Though the signs were there, cause I take life serious . My pattern was different from my elderly ones. I have this hustling spirit that have never been see in my family. Sometime family members used to tease my mom if she is the one that gave birth to me or she adopted me.
Today here I am hopeless, I lack morale, weak zero zeal. Facing health and emotional challenges. I have grown to be a man now, no wife, no kid.no investment no steady source of income. I can't even take good care of myself. I'm just retrogressing, selling some of my property to feed. I'm asking this questions? did I took the wrong path to life? Are there unknown forces like spirituality controlling my family? I just wonder how a whole full family come just poor finish from A to Z nobody fit make am. To even do well small, nobody. Or did i made some wrong decisions in life that have kept me like this?
Where is your location ? What have you been all these while? You need to drop the victim mindset immediately !

the company is not funded yet. Our CEO has been trying alot. The industry is yet untapped and I was seeing a good future with the company

but life has started choking me. If I see people I started with they are all doing well, even the people I taught.

I missed a lot of good opportunities as well.

I also had oppportunity to do fraud but I did not want to be involved in such.

I am over 35 and have not achieved anything yet. Not yet married.

I am feeling I am a failure. I feel I have wasted my life.

I have really worked hard but nothing to show for it.

This is really getting me depressed. What can I do in this suitation?

RomanceRe: She Ignored Me When I Needed Her Most by mrjojo: 8:40am On Aug 26, 2024
Kvarachi:
Good morning everyone. I need your honest opinion on what to do on this matter.
.
I am a commercial bus driver dating a girl working in a petrol station. We have been dating since February this year.
After knowing the meagre salary she received per month, I placed her on 2k daily allowance.
Every week she get foods beverages and every two weeks or sometimes more she gets money for her other material things.
You guys don't need a soothsayer to know we actually met and started dating while I was filling my bus tank.
.
To cut long story short, something happened ystday that surprised me and got me seriously angry with her.
You all know there's a bit of fuel scarcity in the country now, I'm working in Lagos though.
So ystday I was at their fuel station on the queue waiting to buy fuel, the queue I was, was the one my girl was serving. Cuz I'm in a hurry and needed to go to work, I said let me even use gallon to go get it since it's my girl that's serving.
I told my conductor to be moving the bus in case the line move while I took the gallon to the front where she was.
.
When she first saw me she smile at me and I signal to her that I needed fuel asap. She gave me a hand that indicate "wait". I was there she was selling for other people both cars and on keg. I was calling her and trying to get her attention to attend to me but she ignored me.
Ah ah! I was so furious, apart from her being my girl, that filling station is my permanent filling station where I get fuel and I'm supposed to be giving that small privilege. To make matter worst my own girl that we just smash each other the night prior to that day is ignoring me for no reason.
I wanted to cause commotion there not bcuz of my girl but bcus I was one of their regular customer. But I held my peace and went back to where my bus is.
.
Lo and behold before it got to my turn they said their fuel is finished. My girl began looking for me and when she saw me ran to where I was to explain, I just ignored her, start my bus and drove off.
I later got fuel but it wasn't until 6pm ystday and I missed that ystday's work.
Since then she has been calling and I refused picking, she has sent msg giving me flimsy excuse on why she didn't answered me at first, that they're so many people there before me. She just want to answer some before attending to me, that she doesn't want them to start saying who be this one wey just come now and you quickly answer am.
Me I haven't reply her text or pick or call her back. I'm still angry for missing that ystday's work. Bcuz of that I didn't send her her daily allowance.
.
Pls guys, I need your honest opinion. What should I do, cuz this is the first time I needed her to do something for me and she failed?
You placed a Gf on Daily daily incomehuhAre you really serious ?? how are you danfo driver and write relatively well ?
