President Buhari Sunday departed Abuja to New York for 72nd session of the United Nation General Assembly.
Buhari will join other world leaders at the welcoming reception to be hosted by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, and also hold a bilateral meeting with the UN scribe.
The Nigerian leader is billed to have a a lunch meeting with President Donald Trump of the United States of America, along with other world leaders.
Buhari, who is accompanied by the governors of Zamfara, Ebonyi and Ondo States, and key cabinet ministers, will transit through London on his way back to the country.
Buhari was said to have issued a matching order to the Nigerian militaryto weaken Nnamdi Kanu and his group, the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) before he returns from the trip.
However, his return date is still unknown.

Former Abia State governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has revealed what will end the needless agitations in the south eastern part of the country.

According to Kalu, creation of an additional state in the South-east zone, would put it at par with the other zones in the country.

Kalu made this submission when he spoke with newsmen during annual youth summit of Junior Chamber International, Ikoyi, hosted by the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation at Camp Neya, his country home in Igbere, Bende LGA.

He said the decision of the government to proscribe the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) remained the only option that would guarantee stability which he said the country needs desperately at a time like this .
“I think a lot of hate speech had engulfed the country, and the matter escalated because the IPOB leader refused to abide by the terms of his bail. If he had agreed, and probably appealed against the conditions, the situation wouldn’t have gotten to this point. When two people are fighting and the court says, don’t fight, you obey the court. The court decision was not a personal decision of Justice Binta Nyako but the decision of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Kalu explained.

“Some of you know what Ojukwu said here when he was alive, one day it will be made public. If we say we are marginalised, everyone is marginalised. We are marginalised because our people refuse to work. As soon as one becomes a governor or minister he buys houses in Ikoyi and abroad and the people will celebrate him.

“Remember when I was governor, the army and police used to do joint patrol. We should not box ourselves into a corner because my conscience will not allow me to do what is evil,” he said.

“The demography of this country shows that if you go to Kontagora, after the aborigines the next is the Igbo. The same with Jos, Kano, the West, name it, so we need the peace and unity of the country more than anyone else,” he said.

The former governor and chieftain of APC, however, appealed to the Federal Government to take the issue of restructuring seriously, saying, “We have gone past going to Abuja to share money every month.”

He pleaded with the federal government to go back to the 2014 confab report, “The South East zone should have one more state,” Kalu said, lamenting that rather than discuss the interest of the zone, “some Igbo leaders go to the president with the CV of their wives and children, but I go to him to tell him the problem of the people.”

“We need peace everywhere, we condemn hate speeches,” Kalu said.

Elder statesman and former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, has blamed the current economic crisis in the nation on past administration’s failure to save for the future.
Momoh made this observation on Saturday at the 24th convocation ceremony of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
He said, “I have seen a lot of money taken away by the past administration and because of this, the present administration is trying to revive the economy.
“There is no money to establish industries to absorb them. Our youths are now roaming the streets. And when they do, we are not safe. We must engage the youth and for we to overcome all these challenges, our institution of learnings must incorporate entrepreneurial and technical courses in their curriculum”, he said.
“The youth in Nigeria today, they lack understanding, for instance, when the last administration was there, we have to save money for the rainy day but we failed to do so. We ate the future in the present. Now you know, the present is today but yesterday, was the present. So yesterday, looking at today, we are looking at the future. All of you here, all your entitlements, you sat down and ate it.
“All of you who were growing up, what we should have done to empower you, we did not do. Today, you are deprived. Obasanjo left money, Yar’ Adua left money and Jonathan inherited the money but unfortunately by the time he left, we have eaten the money and not Jonathan that ate the money but people ate the money,” he said.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed says thirty-two suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra have been arrested.
CP Zaki said the thirty-two were among those who allegedly caused mayhem at Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state
.

He also confirmed the killing of one police officer, adding that many others sustained injuries.

Briefing newsmen at the Command’s Headquarters in Moscow road in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, however, said normalcy has since been restored in Oyigbo just as he vowed that all those involved in the violent attack will be made to face the wrath of the law.
CP Ahmed also dismissed reports that a mosque was touched during the attack, adding that there is no justification to the actions of the pro-Biafran agitators

According to him, “The said group who had no justification for their action also attacked a Police van from Training School Nonwa enroute Port Harcourt International Airport and burnt the Police van to ashes
.

“The driver Inspr. Emaikwu Ochochi was badly injured and is now on admission. They also carted away one AK 47 riffle with sixty rounds of live Ammunition, and one Berretta Pistol with 8 rounds of live Ammunition.
“At the end of their rampage, many vehicles were damaged and stores burnt.
“The timely response of the Police restored normalcy and brought the situation under control as I made adequate deployment to arrest the situation. The mob were dispersed with minimum force thereby restoring law and order. At the end of which 23 IPOB members were arrested.

“However, the Command was awaken to yet another sad incident today at about 0010hrs, where the same dare devil IPOB members regrouped and launched a surprise attack on the Mobile Policemen stationed at Oyigbo junction, killing a Police Sergeant identified as Sgt. Steven Daniel attached to 19 PMF, injuring two and set a patrol vehicle ablaze as a result of which a Sterling SMG Riffle belonging to the deceased Sgt. was taken by the hoodlums.
“They were however repelled by the Police, where about 9 of them were arrested, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to 32. They are helping us in Investigation and will be due in Court as soon as our Investigation is concluded.”

As the Number of kidnapping increases in rivers state.

Wike alleged that commander of SARS in the state, Mr Akin Fakorede, and some of his men had been indicted by an official police signal. He said the signal also showed that the operatives are responsible for many deadly robberies across the state.

He governor spoke when he addressed journalists on Wednesday, September 13, at the Government House Port Harcourt.

He further said the alleged criminal activities of Mr Fakorede were uncovered by the Inspector General of Police X Squad, Abuja, deployed to the state.

He said the squad had busted the attempted kidnap of one Mr Azumana Ifeanyi on September 11, 2017 at the GRA, Port Harcourt.
.
He revealed the official police signal as titled Police Wireless Message with reference number DT0: 121030/09/2017 -INGENPOL-X-FHQ ABUJA TO-INGENPOL SEC ABUJA.
Wike said the signal noted that the squad received a distress call on the kidnap of Mr Ifeanyi and immediately swung into action.
He further alleged that the signal said they met the three SARS operatives robbing and a gun duel ensued.
The operatives had taken Mr Ifeanyi to a Fidelity Bank ATM where they compelled him to withdraw N500,000 as ransom, he quoted the signal as saying, adding that one of the SARS operatives was killed, while Inspector Justice Nyeche, who led the IGP team, was injured.
“Most of the kidnappings and armed robberies taking place in this state are done by men of SARS. They use exhibit vehicles to operate.
“As the chief security officer of the state, you complain, but they choose to play politics with crime.
“They fight crime in some state, but they refuse to fight crime in Rivers state. We are done with the elections, but they are using SARS to create insecurity in the state.
“As I speak with you, they will deny. But the SARS operative who was killed was among those who raided the Rivers East Senatorial District Collation Centre. This man can be identified in the video as one of those who invaded the collation centre with Fakorede,”Wike said.x

According to him, the deliberate acts of violence being perpetrated by the police are planned ahead of a possible rigging process in 2019.

“I have never seen a country where they politicise crime. It is very obvious that they want to give the impression that Rivers state is unsafe. They want to instill fear preparatory to declaring during the elections that they are so much killing.

“Authorities deliberately trying to destroy a whole state and you want the people to be happy. I will no longer write.

“Now is the time to take my case to the public, for the whole world to know what is happening,”

he added stating that his government had invested in security logistics more than any other while the police are allegedly working against the state.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has described the ongoing Operation Python Dance in the South East as military invasion, urged the presidency to direct the military to call off the exercise.
Ohanaeze President General, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, made the statement in reaction to army clashes with residence and the invasion of the home of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
He said the military operation was the height of provocation and may escalate the already tensed situation in the zone.
He said the operation was only meant to intimidate South East residents.
The Ohanaeze leader said there were more civilised and established ways to resolve the issue of self-determination, democratic and security challenges rather than resort to the use of brute force.
He warned that if what he called the act of intimidation was not discontinued, the group would be left with no alternative than to conclude that “this is a containment policy aimed at the South East to intimidate our people from freely expressing their anger and angst at their marginalisation and treatment as second class citizens.”

The lawyer defending the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has raised the alarm over the whereabouts and life of his client, Nnamdi Kanu.

This was contained in a statement issued and released to journalists on Tuesday. He said he is not aware if Kanu is still alive or dead following the armed invasion of Kanu's residence by heavily armed soldiers.

The statement reads: “Just to notify the world that my client’s (Nnamdi Kanu) house is presently under siege by the trigger happy soldiers acting under the direct instruction of Chief of Army staff.”

“They drove in their thousands to arrest and maim him. I just got a distressed call from him now. Further efforts to establish contact with him has remain unsuccessful.
“As it stands now, I can’t confirm whether he is dead or alive.
The operation python dance presently launched by the Buhari led administration in the south east, principally targeted at eliminating my client, is yielding the desired result to the presidency, having launched a man hunt for my client and unarmed members if indigenous people of Biafra.

“Let the world know that the federal Government has practically abandoned their case in court in search of a brute route to eliminate my client. As I type this statement, his residence has been cordoned off by the military, majority of whom are of Fulani extraction.
“The world should hold Buhari led federal government responsible if anything untoward happen to Nnamdi Kanu. The situation is very tense at the moment,” Ejiofor added.

The father of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, His Royal Highness, Isaac Okwu Kanu has vowed that Nigeria would be in trouble if his son is arrested or killed.

Speaking with the Sun, Kanu, who doubles as the traditional ruler of Afara Ukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government area of Abia state also sent an SOS to the United Nations, alleging that the Federal Government planned to kill his son.

He said:“Yes, of course, I’m a human being. When they talk of re-arresting him, it means they want to kill him, but God will not allow them because my son has done nothing wrong.
"I am using this opportunity to call on the United Nations to call the Nigerian government to order because they are planning to kill my son. My son did not do anything; government should go after those who have committed offence against Nigeria.
“Why will they want to re-arrest him? Did he kill anybody? Did he flout the constitution? Some people are saying that my son, flouted the bail condition given him by a Federal High Court in Abuja, but the question remains, what type of bail condition was that?
"Is it possible that a person of my son’s standing in the society could stay without meeting up to 10 persons in a day or week?
“So, the said bail condition was against his fundamental human rights. But that notwithstanding, I know what we are passing through in my palace; trying to stop people from coming here, but there is a limit to which we can do that.
“Initially, the major gate to my palace had always been open, but since he came back, that gate has always been shut and we did that to stop people from gaining access to the compound. So, I don’t know what they are talking about.”
Asked what will happen if his son is rearrested, the monarch said,“Yes, re-arresting my son will definitely cause more problems for the country. Why would they re-arrest my son; to kill him? God and our people will not allow that to happen.

“They should realise that Nnamdi has a boy he has not set his eyes on since he was born and it was out of respect for the laws of the land that made him not to go to London to see that boy.”

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has challenged the Senate to disprove the allegations raised by Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, against its members, stating that it has been on record that the lawmakers have shrouded their remunerations in deep secrecy.
According to a report, Sagay had criticized members of the National Assembly for their expenditure which he said was adversely affecting the economy.

In addition, Sagay reportedly said:“Wardrobe allowance N621,061.37; recess allowance N248, 424.55; accommodation 4,968,509.00; utilities N828,081.83; domestic staff N1,863,184.12; entertainment N828,081.83; personal assistant N621,061.37; vehicle maintenance allowance N1,863,184.12; leave allowance N248,424.55; severance gratuity N7, 425,736.50; and motor vehicle allowance N9, 936,982.00.”
The Senate, while responding, requested President Muhammadu Buhari to call the PACAC boss to order, accusing him of spreading falsehood and making hate speeches against the federal legislature.
However, the Executive Chairman of CACOL, Debo Adeniran, in a statement, said:
“Between the present NASS and Prof. Sagay, we will choose the latter in terms of the zeal and dedication to the cause of ridding our society of corruption. We know that the PACAC Chairman’s integrity is a million miles ahead when compared that of present NASS.
“It is extremely ridiculous to hear the balderdash the lawmakers are trying use to divert attention for fundamental issues raised by the Professor.
"They have for long shrouded their remunerations in deep secrecy in spite of Nigerians demanding to know. Even reliance on the Freedom of Information Act will not make them bulge.”
“If truly they are women and men of honour, the logical response from the Senate should have been the task to ‘disprove’ the figures put forward by Sagay. We had said before that the present NASS is apparently the most inept in the history of Nigeria with considerable number of members having corruption cases.”

“We know it is because of the vibrant role Sagay is playing as the head PACAC that always make the NASS shiver any time he sneezes.”He concluded

The special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on justice sector reforms and the national coordinator of OGP, Barrister Juliet Ibekaku- Nwagwu has praised the efforts of Kano state government in pursuing policies and programs aimed at improving governance in the state.
She stated this in a statement delivered on her behalf by Dr. Haruna Abdullahi at the inception visit of the OGP national secretariat to the state on Friday, September 8.

RationalTV..com gathered that the OGP team which was hosted at the Kano state Anti-corruption and Public Complaints Commission expressed the willingness and availability of its national secretariat to support the preparation of the state government towards a formal launch of OGP in the state.
Already, the state government has formally committed to implementing the OGP reforms in the state.

In a recent letter addressed to the co-chair of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, committed to implementing open contracting, open budgeting, tax transparency, improved ease of doing business, anti-corruption among others.
Dr. Abdulahi who is also the sub-national adviser to the OGP Secretariat on behalf of the Mrs Ibekaku-Nwagwu, expressed optimism at the prospects of open government reforms in Kano state.

He praised the level of infrastructure development in the state and attributed it to benefits accruing from the anti-corruption stance of government. He expressed optimism that OGP implementation will only complement the efforts that the state government has been making already.
His words:“I have heard many things about the efforts of this government. The establishment of a state level Anti-Corruption Commission is an important mechanism to curb waste by blocking conduits from where public funds leak.
“I was in Kano a few years ago. As I arrived today, I saw a lot of infrastructural improvement which is a testimony of what happens when public resources are judiciously and efficiently utilized. That is part of what OGP is about”
Another member of the delegation Mr. Uche Igwe, commended the focal point of OGP implementation in the state and hailed the executive chairman of the commission, Alhaji Magaji Muhuyi Rimingado for his courage, tenacity and professionalism.

“I am impressed with the level of work your commission is doing. The story of your courage and how you have fearlessly chased corruption into the most difficult places, is public knowledge. Please keep it up. I am confident that if you extend that level of commitment to OGP implementation then one will expect results in improved service delivery in the state”,Igwe stated.
In his response, Mr. Rimingado thanked the delegation for their visit and assured them that he will use his office to support the governor, to ensure that government activities are open and that citizens understand how they are being governed.

Meanwhile, the federal government has kick-started plans to establish a public beneficial ownership register.
In a meeting held on Wednesday, September 6 in Abuja, key agencies of the government fine-tuned strategies for the implementation of the policy.
The meeting which was held under the auspices of the OGP had in attendance the representatives of the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Ministry of Justice, Civil Society Organisations amongst others.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti has taken a swipe at Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other Yoruba elders saying they were the biggest problem of the region.
The Punch reports that the Ekiti governor spoke at the Yoruba Summit in Ibadan, Oyo state on Thursday, September 7.

He accused the present Yoruba elders of not doing enough for the region saying Yoruba forefathers fought for them.
He said:“People can only discard my voice but they cannot throw me away. Our forefathers in Yoruba land tried their best but the present Yoruba elders are our problem. This is our fathers’ land and they must defend it.
“We have had great meetings like this that were held in the past and which were attended by Yoruba elders, but after the meetings, the so-called elders would approach the media and said we do not need restructuring. This does not make any sense.

Femi Fani-Kayode insisted that if restructuring is not granted, then the elders should prepare for Oduduwa republic.

“If we cannot have regional restructuring, let us prepare ourselves for Oduduwa Republic. That is the thinking of the majority of our people but as a first step, let us demand restructuring.
“We appeal to the Federal Government, all political leaders and all parties, let us restructure this country and devolve powers to the states. Give us the power to live our lives.
“Nobody can suppress the Yoruba people, nobody stops us; we are the sons of Oduduwa and we shall go forth.”

This Day reports that the Yoruba leaders also recommended the devolution of 25 items on the Exclusive list in the 1999 Constitution, ranging from customs duties to exchange control, currency, coinage and legal tender, arms, ammunition and explosives, and citizenship, naturalisation and aliens among others.

Senator Shehu Sani (APC-Kaduna Central) has stated that there would be grave consequences for many Nigerians whether Buhari decides to re-contest the presidency in 2019 or not.
Sani made his comments on Thursday, September 7, during an interview session on a Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today.

He stated:“No one can clearly say if President Buhari will run for re-election in 2019.
“But it is clear that if he takes a position, if he says he is not going to contest, certainly that may be the end of governance in Nigeria because it is only going to be about 2019; and if he says he is going to contest, certainly the political ambition of so many people will certainly come to an end.
“But I think he is being strategic for now, he wants to deliver on pledges and promises made in 2015 and because whatever comes out from his mouth has grievous implications to governance in Nigeria as it is now.”

The ruling party chairman spoke on the heels of a comment credited to Aisha Alhassan, that President Buhari had said he would not seek re-election.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been reportedly honoured with the highest title in Igbo land, south-eastern Nigeria.
Kanu was decorated with the title of the ‘greatest Biafran Warrior’ by the Odumeze of Ohafia, Abia state, and other elders, according to Somto Okonkwo, who posted the photographs on social media.
Kanu, according to Okonkwo, is now the Otu Onye Nakpu Ogwe 1 of Biafra Land.

However, the controversy that seems to have emerged from the award of the title is the place of the late Biafran warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Ojukwu, who was an officer of the Nigerian Army before the war, is often described as a warrior and even had a title to that effect.
Aniebo Nwamu, a Nigerian analyst, recently said:“One of the prominent titles conferred on Ojukwu on his return from exile in 1982 was Dike Di Ora Mma (The warrior loved by all).”
He described the title as“an apt description of the visionary from the east who was born in the north and grew up in the west.”

Until months ago, Nnamdi Kanu had been in detention on the order of the federal government over alleged treasonable offences.
The government is also reportedly asking the court to withdraw the bail condition it granted Kanu with the argument that he had abused some of the conditions he was given.

It was gathered that the unarmed youths were detained on Monday night, September 4, at the popular Isi Gate area, after they clashed with the army.

Aisha Alhassan, minister of women affairs and social development has said that she does not think President Muhammadu Buhari is a naïve person.
According to a report, Alhassan said this while speaking with state house correspondents after visiting Aso Rock with the hope to meet with Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president.

“I have not seen the president but I don’t think he is a naive person,”she said.
The minister had described former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as her godfather, saying she would support him even if Buhari seeks reelection in 2019.
When asked to explain her reason for moving against the president, Alhassan said: “I have no comment.
“I have said all in BBC Hausa. Get someone who speaks Hausa very well to translate it for you… let the will of God be done.”

It is unclear if she was summoned to the presidential villa or she visited on her own accord.

Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and caretaker committee, has condemned the celebration of the country’s exit from recession.
Punch reports that Makarfi, on Tuesday, August 5, noted that the just released statistics did not reflect the ''reality as it affects ordinary Nigerians''.
He said:''For any economic recovery to be meaningful, it must positively impact on the lives of the people at the lower level''.

The federal government is scheduled to hold a meeting with executives of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Wednesday, September 6.
The meeting, the federal government said will will be held with NARD and other stakeholders in the health sector to resolve the ongoing strike action by the resident doctors.

The minister of labour and employment Chris Ngige in a statement issued by his deputy director of press, Samuel Olowooker said the crucial conciliatory meeting will be led by the minister of health Isaac Adewole.

Ngige said: “There will be a crucial conciliatory meeting with the president and executive of NARD, president and executive of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), officials of the Federal Ministry of Health led by the Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole and other stakeholders.”

The president of NARD Onyebueze John in a statement said the associations strike action will continue until all items in her demand list are resolved by the federal government.

The Osun state police command has arrested three male suspects, with two human heads and hands in the state.

The commissioner of police, Fimihan Adeoye, told newsmen in Osogbo on Tuesday, September 5, that the suspects were arrested on August 29 during a police stop and search operation.
“On Aug. 29 at about 1;02 p.m, a police patrol team on a stop and search operation on Ogbomosho/Oyo Road, at Agboro Area, stopped a motorcycle with two persons on it.
“The persons on the motorcycle were searched and two severed human hands with gloves and a human head were found with them, and they were promptly arrested,” he said.
Mr Adeoye said in a similar case, on the same date at about 11.30am, at Oba’s compound in Moro, Ipetumodu, one Adeniyi Adeyeye was also arrested with a human skull in his possession.

He said detectives attached to the Ipetumodu divisional headquarters arrested the suspect and transfered him to the state criminal investigation department in Osogbo.
He said the skull found with the suspect was suspected to have been exhumed from a grave and that investigation was still ongoing on the matter.
Mr Adeoye, however, said all the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
In another report, the Niger state police command has arrested two suspected ritualists in possession of a human head.
The suspects, Abdulrasheed Aminu and Ismaila Mohammed,were arrested by men of the tactical squad attached to Niger state police command, the Punch reports.
The command in a statement disclosed that the human head found in possession of the suspects was that of a young man identified as Hassan Abubakar of Bakejeba Paiko LGA.
According to the police, the father of the victim, Abubakar Shuaib, said his son was last seen on Saturday, August 26, taking a kettle of water from the house to give an unknown person waiting outside.

A cleric has said that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu is more prophetic than Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka.
Emmanuel Obinma, the spiritual director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry in Uke, Anambra state said, Kanu is more important to the people of the south-east than Mbaka.
speaking during one of his service, Obinma said, Mbaka has being a thorn in the flesh for the people of Biafra and Igbos in general.

He also condemned Mbaka's silence during the killing of residents of Enugu communities by some Fulani herdsmen.
Obinma said:“Nnamdi Kanu is more important to Igbos and more Prophetic than Mbaka; at least, he Nnamdi Kanu foresaw what is happening now in Nigeria while Mbaka was busy then campaigning for APC."

“Now that his party, APC has failed, Mbaka has not condemned the same APC party that he campaigned for, let the will of God be done, and let Mbaka go to rest,"Obinma said.

The leader of the IPOB said the federal government was sponsoring lies against him in the media.
Kanu also claimed that the federal government had deceived Nigerians by parading a Sudanese man named Jubril as President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria, on Tuesday reminded Nigerians that it was no longer in the business of issuing them visas.
The embassy’s Charge d’ Affaires, Mr Michel Deleen, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the Embassy had since 2013 swapped its visa issuance processes in Nigeria.
Deleen said that the embassy had since 2013 swapped its visas issuance to Nigerians with the French Consulate General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja.

“Let me remind Nigerians that since 2013, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria had signed agreements with the French Consulate-General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja.
“What this means is that we have swapped our visa application processes in Nigeria with the French Consulate-General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja.
“Let me remind Nigerians that under these agreements, any Nigerian that wants to visit the Netherlands for business, study or tourism should always process their visa applications through the French Consulate-General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja,’’he said.
Deleen also enjoined Nigerians to always apply for visas to the Netherlands, through VFS Global to the French Consulate-General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja.
The Charge d’ Affaires said that it was important for Nigerians and other nationals in Nigeria to know that VFS Global was the internationally-authorised organisaton for receiving all visa applications.
“Let me also advise anyone seeking visas to the Netherlands through the French Consulate-General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja,to always first apply through VFS Global.
“When you first apply to VFS Global for visas to the Netherlands,VFS Global would thereafter send them to the French Consulate-General in Lagos and the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja for processing,’’he said.
VFS Global is the world’s largest outsourcing and technology services specialist for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide.
The company manages administrative and non-judgmental tasks related to visas, passports, identity management and other citizen services for its client governments.(NAN)
In another development, a coalition of Civil Society Organisations under the auspices of the“Say No Campaign Nigeria”has called on the federal government to put in place mechanism for the repatriation and subsequent prosecution of the former minister of petroleum Diezani Alison-Maduekefor her alleged corruption charges.
The group in a press briefing held in Abuja today, Tuesday, August 22 called for a speedy trial of the ex-minister, emphasising the need to urgently prosecute suspects and promote the culture of accountability among public office holders, if the fight against corruption must be successful.

Pan-Yoruba social-political organisation, Afenifere and some Igbo groups have insisted that IPOB is not a terrorist organisation.
The groups were reacting to a recent order by President Muhammadu Buhari to security agencies to crack down on members of the groupand other dissidents in the country.

On its part, the Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT), said it would rather watch than comment on the situation.
It's secretary, Professor Elochukwu Amucheazi, said:“We won’t talk now; let’s watch the development. Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 in Bible tells us that there is time for everything. It says that to everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven…”
In the meantime, the leadership of the IPOB in Ebonyi state said the president’s order was divisive and did not address issues necessary for national unity and development.
Deputy coordinator of the group in in the state, Mr. Ugochukwu Nweke, said:“What IPOB is doing is legal and we are not afraid. The president should address Boko Haram in the North-east, the unfortunate quit notice by the Arewa youths, how to boost the economy and the welfare of citizens in Nigeria. He doesn’t have the right to threaten IPOB or any group.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General SK Usman has said the recent viral video of the Biafra Secret Service is being addressed by the military.

The army spokesperson made the statement on Tuesday, August 22, in a tweet after a Twitter user demanded to know what the army was doing about the issue.
