PoliticsFact Check: Did INEC Record The Same Results For Bauchi And Gombe States? by mrmayoh(op): 4:28pm On Feb 28, 2023
The PDP alleged that INEC recorded identical results for presidential election in Gombe and Bauchi States.

The ongoing general elections have continued to throw up controversial scenarios with the latest being insinuations that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was engaging in copying and pasting of results.

Many Nigerians who trooped out to cast their votes in the presidential and national assembly elections of Saturday, February 25, 2023, are still waiting for official announcement of results in many states, 72 hours after the exercise.

It's important to state that presidential election results are being collated at polling unit, ward, Local Government, and state levels before the final tally is transferred to Abuja for adoption by INEC.

In the midst of this, a claim broke out on social media early on Tuesday alleging that the commission recorded same results for Gombe and Bauchi States in the presidential election.

While this in itself doesn't constitute any electoral foul play, assuming that's the case, the rarity and practical impossibility of three different political parties recording the same number of votes in two different states made it all too suspicious.

During a press conference held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, authoritatively quoted the viral figures to buttress his point that INEC has compromised the election.

However, according to investigations by Pulse, we discovered that the information that is making the rounds is absolutely false.

So, what actually happened?
Our findings revealed that the confusion emanated from an online platform, TheCableIndex, who mistakenly published infographics of results from Bauchi and Gombe States using figures from Gombe.

The platform has also owned up to the error and issued an apology to Nigerians for the misleading information.

In a tweet posted on its page on Tuesday afternoon, TheCableIndex expressed regrets over the development and issued an updated version of the infographics. https://twitter.com/thecableindex/status/1630562253857497088?s=20

Below is how Nigerians voted in Gombe and Bauchi States in the presidential election;

Gombe State
:
APC - 146,977
PDP - 319,123
Labour Party - 26,160

Bauchi State
APC - 316,694
PDP - 426,607
Labour Party - 27,373

Verdict
Pulse can authoritatively confirm that the viral claim that INEC announced identical figures for Bauchi and Gombe State in the presidential election is completely false.

It's obvious that PDP relied on result from social media.

PoliticsFact-Check: APC, PDP Votes At Buhari’s PU In 2019, 2023 Not Same by mrmayoh(op): 3:31pm On Feb 28, 2023
The spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Dino Melaye, on Tuesday, claimed that the results of the PDP and the All Progressives Congress in the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)’s polling unit in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections were the same.

Melaye said, “The result of President Buhari’s Polling Unit in 2019; APC – 523, PDP – three. In 2023, the election that was done on Saturday (February 25), the result of President Buhari Polling Unit; APC – 523, PDP – three. Nobody died, nobody became 18 years, no new registered voters, that is just one out of thousands of vote allocations that was done.”

Melaye said this a a joint press conference held by the PDP, the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress in Abuja where the three opposition parties demanded a fresh election, and asked the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, to step aside.

However, a check by The PUNCH shows that Melaye’s claim that the APC polled 523 and the PDP polled three votes on Saturday is not true.

While in 2019, President Buhari under the APC won his polling unit, PU003 at Sarkin Yara ward A, in Daura, Katsina, by scoring 523 votes and the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, got only three votes, this is not the same in 2023.

The PUNCH reports that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, won Saturday’s presidential election in the Baru 003, Baba Tone, Sarki Yara “A” Ward of Buhari by polling 215 votes to beat other major contestants, namely Atiku of the PDP who polled 51 votes, and Rabiu Kwankaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party who polled 37 votes.

EducationRe: FG Apologizes To Students, Parents Over Prolonged ASUU Strike by mrmayoh:
Apology accepted.

Let's be frank to ourselves. Federal Government alone cannot fund tertiary education.

In 2019 Budget, Federal Govt budgeted over N17B to ABU Zaria and ABU Zaria generated less than 4 billion naira in the same year.

Must Federal Universities in Nigeria Charges between N25,000 - N40,000 per year. Most primary schools pay higher than that.

If Nigeria want to compete globally, then she must do what others are doing.

PoliticsRe: FG May Borrow N11Trillion For 2023 Budget As Deficit Rises Above 100% by mrmayoh: 3:25pm On Aug 30, 2022
Cognitivereason:
this is a lie

there is no such thing as free tertiary education in those countries..it is a bloody lie

the institutions in those countries set their school fees at a rate that they are able to pay their lecturers and manage the affairs of the school

that rate is not affordable for the average citizens there ..that is why they have what is called STUDENT LOANS...

Nigerian institutions needs to do the same....
there is a government owned institution that has the same thing done...it called Edo university..their school fees is set at a rate that they can handle all the cost of running the university ....their fee is between 400k and 600k

this is the same thing other institutions should do to permanently end strike.. if any student cant afford it..then the FG through some sort of micro finance banks can introduce at extremely low interest rates ..the same way it is done in sane countries..

if the federal university will have their fees increase to an average of 300k..it will still be one of the cheapest in the whole world

and it will be 300% cheaper than private institutions that pay nothing less tha N1 million

dont be foolish..you cant be paying less than $100 for schools and expect the school to function the same as schools whose fees are no less than $2000... it a mirage

dont defend foolishness
Brilliant

We will keep borrowing as long as we subsidized fuel, education, electricity, health etc.

Imagine paying N6.72trn for fuel subsidy, that's stupidity.

Students pay N30,000 per session as fees in Federal Universities and you expect Nigerian University to be great. The cheapest university in South Africa is above 1 million naira.

Let's tell ourselves the truth.
