Mike Ogiasa, a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan has begged for his release.

Ogiasa served as Bayelsa Commissioner for Special Duties in charge of Federal Projects, and Special Adviser on Power.

The engineer was kidnapped at Otuogidi in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa on June 2. Ogiasa was seized and driven away by armed men after he attended a meeting.

A video of the son of an ex-traditional ruler of Otuoke community emerged at the weekend.

A half-naked Ogiasa is seen in a flooded grave, his hand tied, as he cries out for urgent help.

“You’re seeing me in the grave. Please do everything possible to come and release me.

“Any money that is available…any money you can make. Do everything possible.

“Is the money more important than my life?”, the captive said with a shaky voice.

The police in Bayelsa confirmed the abduction after the incident in June.Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswa said the command was working with other agencies to free Ogiasa.

Perennial flood which occurred in Oko-Oba, Orile Agege area of Lagos State, has reportedly swept a Lexus Jeep with four occupants on board.

The incident occurred at Oyatoki axis.

Another jeep with three occupants on board was said to be trapped in the flood but they were able to escape from the jeep.

However, the wave of the flood has prevented them from being rescued to a safer place.

An eye witness, simply identified as James, who put a call across Vanguard said, ” It’s happening presently in Oko-Oba, Agege where flood has swept a jeep and Lexus car.

“The car is trapped at a spot and its three occupants have managed to escape from the car but are still trapped in the flood due to the current of the flood.”

At press time, men of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service have arrived the scene

All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has received the backing of top Yoruba Nollywood actors for the 2023 elections.

Naija News reports that Veteran actor and movie producer, Yinka Quadri confirmed this in a barely two minutes video he posted on his Instagram page.

Other veterans and movie producers spotted in the campaign video include Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Taiwo Hassan, Fausat Balogun, Saheed Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Fathia Williams, Murphy Afolabi, Eniola Ajao and others.

The actors hailed the former Governor of Lagos, stating that it was his turn to become Nigeria’s next president. Using Tinubu’s popular slogan ‘EMI LOKAN’, the actors urged every Nigerian to cast their vote for the ace politician.

According to them, Tinubu is the best fit for the position and would make the country better if elected come 2023.

Abia community youths protest kidnap of Methodist Prelate

Isuochi youths in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have given the Federal and Abia State Governments a seven-day ultimatum to relocate the cattle market and remove all military checkpoints in the area.

The youths, on Wednesday, demanded this while protesting the incessant kidnappings by suspected herdsmen in the area.

The protest was as a result of the kidnap of the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Uche and two other clerics last Sunday and their subsequent release after an alleged payment of N100 million ransom.

Carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “Enough is enough”, ” Garki cattle market must go”, “Army should open Ihube/Isuochi road”, among others, the youths numbering in hundreds and dressed in black attires marched to the Umunneochi Council headquarters at Nkwoagu Isuochi where they conveyed their grievances to the Council Chairman.

Chanting war songs, the youths decried the menacing activities and atrocities of herdsmen in the area.

Speaking at the Council headquarters, their spokesperson, Comrade Divine Uche, said the youths would no longer tolerate the continued harassment, torture, and Kidnappings for ransom by herdsmen in the area and accused security agents especially the Army of not doing much to checkmate the murderous herdsmen on the prowl in the area.

They demanded the immediate relocation of Lokpanta regional cattle market where they alleged provided cover for the criminals instead of deterring them, demanding also that the military checkpoint at Lomara junction be removed and the barricade by the soldiers blocking the Ihube/Isuochi road cleared without delay so that motorists would be plying the route again.


They emphasised that the presence of the military checkpoint at the area has not stopped kidnappings and other criminal activities of herdsmen, “rather, abductions for ransom go on with impunity under the nose of the security agents at the area.”

They warned that if after seven days their demands were not met, they might be forced to take laws into their hands to protect their people against criminal herders on the prowl in the area.

According to one Madam Nwoke, people in the area now live in fear of herdsmen who have been terrorising the people and challenged security agencies to rise to the occasion to avoid angry youths taking laws into their hands.

Responding, the Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Azubuike, who stood in for the Council Chairman promised to convey their grievances to the Chairman, noting with concern, the atrocities of herdsmen in the area and the docility of security agencies.

All efforts of the Council to open up the Ihube/Isuochi road were being frustrated by the soldiers at the Lomara military checkpoint who insisted that the Council must first complete a perimeter fencing of their post there, stating that the Council had done over 80% of the work but regretted that the soldiers had continued to frustrate efforts to complete the project.

He alleged that cement bought by the Council for the work was even destroyed by rain due to the hostile attitude of the soldiers adding that the Council was already overwhelmed by the security challenges in the area, and appealed to both the State and Federal Government to come to their rescue.

When contacted, Spokesman, 14 Brigade Ohafia, Lt Omale, said he was in a conference.

Leaders of the Cattle market in the area have always denied the allegation that criminals are being haboured in the market.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has explained why he ordered that the controversial tweet on the killing of Deborah Samuel be taken down.

He revealed that the tweet was deleted because he did not approve that it should be posted in the first instance.

The former vice president gave the explanation on Friday when he visited Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State at the Government House in Benin City, the state capital.

“Every tweet has to get my approval,” said the presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “Unfortunately, this tweet – because I was travelling all over the country – did not have my approval. So, I said it should be taken down and that every tweet must have my express approval.”

Samuel, a second-year student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, was killed on Thursday following an allegation that she had blasphemed Muhammad (SAW), the prophet of Islam.

Her death sparked an outrage from various individuals and groups, including the Christian community who demanded that her killers be brought to justice.

A tweet on Thursday night from the former vice president’s verified handle also triggered unpleasant reactions from users from the northern part of the country before it was deleted.

While Atiku insisted that the tweet was not deleted over fears that the negative reactions could affect his political aspiration, he said the only thing that went wrong was because he was not consented.

“I am not a person who is afraid to take stand on issues; you know the stand I took on Sharia. I was pelted, I was abused in the North, but then how long did the Sharia last?” he quired. “I told them they were having a political Sharia and I was vilified, they threw stones at me.

“There was nothing they did not do; that did not make me change my position as far as Sharia is concerned. Where is the Sharia today? So, the only thing that went wrong with that tweet was that it was not authorised by me.”

A yet-to-be identified student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in‪ Sokoto State has been burnt to death by her colleagues for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

The sad incident occurred this morning after she was dragged out of her hostel.

It has come to the notice of sokoto state government, the unfortunate incident that took place at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in which a student of the college lost her life.

The Government has ordered the immediate closure of the college.

Already the state governor Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed the Ministry of Higher education and relevant security agencies in the state to commence investigations into the remote and immediate causes of the incident and report back to the government.

Meanwhile governor Aminu Waziti Tambuwal has called on the people of the state to remain calm and maintain peace as the government would take appropriate actions on the findings of the investigations by the relevant authority.

Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Sunday, celebrated his second daughter, Hailey, on her fifth birthday.

Sharing pictures of the celebrant on his Instagram page, Davido showered prayers on her.

While expressing his love for Hailey, he also called her his twin.

He wrote, “Happy birthday to my darling daughter, Hailey Veronica Adeleke! May you be surrounded by love and all your favorite things as we Celebrate you today and forever! I love you twin. #big5”

The singer had earlier hinted that he was leaving the country to celebrate with his daughter on her birthday.

Sharing a photo of a private jet, he wrote “I can never miss my daughter’s birthday for nothing. Hailey, we’re on the way.”

Davido welcomed Hailey in 2017, with his partner at that time, Amanda, and named their child after his mother, Veronica.

The singer has two other kids, Imade and Ifeanyi, with separate women.
