MissMeiya: Smh. You're too dull. Your question makes it obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Alright, let me explain it slowly, since you didn't get it the first time. Freedom of religious practice is protected by the Constitution. In Muslim religious practice, women are obliged to cover certain parts of their bodies in front of men they are not related to. Male family members and other women are not included.
So, your question about if they must wear hijab in the bathroom is a stúpid one. Because their religion does not require them to hide their hair from themselves. But if Nigerian schoolgirls are in the practice of bathing with strange men, I assure you, the hijab would be the least of anyone's concerns. Since you didn't get my question, I will enlighten your dull brain. The case of not using Hijab in the bathroom doesn't subject to "can't be covering their bodies from themselves". We both know that removing of Hijab is done because there is a need for them to remove the Hijab while in the bathroom (That's if any of them was wearing it). And even if you choose to wear Hijab to your own bathroom, that's your own wahala. This is a public school with uniform and that is an unquestionable reason for you not to add anything religious to it. Because the school is not attended or made for Muslims alone.
If there is a need for a muslim girl to cover her hair, the school always have beret for the girls.
I believe you also know that preaching inside of a public bus has also been banned. But if the preacher feels like preaching inside of his room or in his church for 24 hours, that's his own wahala. You can't come to the public and try to force your belief on everyone and start claiming freedom of religion in the public, there is no common sense in that.
Every time the government does something right that affects the Muslims, they always see it as an attack on Islam without applying common sense which is the problem we are facing here. Preaching inside of the bus or broadcasting of miracles on TV doesn't affect anyone yet they are banned. But if one applies common sense, you will see that it is a good step forward. We have to respect everyone's belief in public and put away religion.
Lastly, we should not let religion becloud our sense of reasoning. |

MissMeiya: You just made your ignorance very obvious. You clearly have no idea why Muslim women wear hijab if you can ask that stúpid question. I asked the guy who quoted the constitution. If you read the section 38 which he quoted, your brain may be able to fathom my question. I don't want to insult anyone regarding this post. If you can't do without insult, don't quote me again. |
Education › Re: Court Upholds Ban On Use Of Hijab In Lagos Public Schools by mrofficial(m): 1:34pm On Oct 19, 2014 |
salykely: The Lagos state high court hijab judgment is an aberration of section 38 of the 1999 constitution. And i entertain no doubt that the apex Court will over turn today's aberration. Section 38 (1) Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom (either alone or in community with others, and in public or in private) to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance.
I wonder if the Lagos state government is more secular than the United state whose president proudly made the following claim: "Moreover, freedom in America is indivisible from the freedom to practice one's religion...That's why the United States government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab and to punish those who would deny it. it is important for Western countries to avoid impeding Muslim citizens from practicing religion as they see fit -- for instance, by dictating what clothes a Muslim woman should wear. We can't disguise hostility towards any religion behind the pretence of liberalism.
Freedom of religion is central to the ability of peoples to live together. We must always examine the ways in which we protect it". You can practice your religion even in school. The constitution did not state wearing of Hijab in public school with uniform. Do the girls wear Hijab while in the bathroom? |

BetaThings: So why did the FG use public money to put up a NATIONAL Christmas Tree? Do you remember the excuses when we said we wanted Islamic Banking to be owned by private people And nobody is imposing. Imposition is what you are doing when you are saying I should no longer obey my God So the government did not use NATIONAL money to celebrate Sallah for the muslims? That is where you should come to understand that Nigeria is not for only the muslims. So Britain is not a peaceful society? Yet they allow Hijab You cannot compare Britain with Nigeria. Let's leave that aside. The common sense is that you object to anything that does not have a Christian counterpart Hijab and Ialamic banking are clear examples Why would anyone running a Christian university claim that Islamic Banking will islamise the nation Can you point to any school in Nigeria that bears "Christian University" or "Christian Bank" in Nigeria? This is why I keep saying common sense.
Just so you know, in 2011, I was to vote for Ribadu, but couldn't because I lost my voter's card. And the forth coming presidential election, I will be voting for Buhari.

ayinba1: I am trying to understand your reasoning. Why do you want to remove all traces of religion in schools? Do you believe in God? If yes, do you take a break from believing in God when you are at school? You see, this is a world filled with different people with different rationales. You can't get all you want in this life, you have to compromise. We have to come to a term that will please everyone. And that is what the muslims find difficult to understand. Now if you say you do not believe in God, the rules for you are totally different. I'm a Christian and will never let religion becloud my sense of reasoning. The muslims are not asking that non muslims wear hijab. The simple request is that a muslim should be free to wear hijab if she choses to. This is another attempt to deny the girl child an education. Deny girl child an education? That's not logical. Muslims can wear Hijab after school hours. The point is, you refused to look at it from other perspectives. It is a wrong decision in a society that claims to support freedom of religion. It'll be wrong if only the public school did not have uniform. And please stop this argument of "take your kids to a private Islamic school". Public schools are funded with everyone's money (muslim, non muslim, pagan). Try to remove sentiments, one should be free to exercise his/her religious obligation. The hijab does you no harm. Live and let live. This is the reason why the muslims should stop agitating wearing of Hijab to school funded by every religion.
I don't think broadcasting of miracles on our Local TV channels does any harm, yet it was banned. Once you apply common sense and put religion aside, you will understand. |

ayinba1: A step backwards for Lagos State The ban on hijab. If there is freedom of religion in Nigeria, what is the rationale behind banning the hijab? Are we going back to the days when muslims could not attend school unless they changed their names? Or is this the beginning of extending the ban to higher institutions? Whoever thought that it was okay to trample on people’s freedom has led this current administration quite astray. This is really backward and emotional thinking. I am amazed that some people here are happy and rejoicing about this. No wonder Jesus said in the Bible of the people he would siown on the day of judgement. He says: “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to me on the Judgment Day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and driven out demons in your name and done many miracles in your name? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you evildoers” My goodness, do you even look at Mary (AS) mother of Jesus? How did she dress and conduct herself? You sell your souls and eternity for the pittance of this life? This life which is so transient that the hour is any time - death? May Allah strengthen the muslims and give us victory against the evil doers. Amin Who is scared of the hijab and why It's a public school where all Nigerians with different religions and believes attend. One of the religions cannot impose or have upper hand in the school in order to avoid disunity.
This is what others are trying to make muslims understand, but I don't know why you guys are so bent on imposing it on public schools. There is no way this move will not bring in trouble a peaceful society. Shall we because of religion and start fighting each other? That is a question you should reflect on. It's a common sense.
Since the ban of broadcasting of miracle on our local TV channels, have you see Christians challenging the ban?
Instead, we should advocate for the removal of any trace of religion in our public schools, and not try to add to it.
Don't try to attach it with freedom of religion. In the sense that your question can be valid regarding if there is freedom of religion in Nigeria is when the Lagos state government completely bans the use of Hijab all over the state.
If you think the public school is not good enough because of its restrictions and it contradicts your religious belief, please take your child to an islamic school.
If you think First Bank contradicts your religious belief because of the way it is run, take your money to an Islamic bank. |

Sports › Ebola: Morocco Will No Longer Host 2015 Nations Cup by mrofficial(op): 11:55pm On Oct 17, 2014 |
In a shocking twist of events, the Confederation of African football (CAF) is expected to look for a new host for the 2015 African Nations Cup as agreed hosts, Morocco, on Thursday, announced that they will no longer be hosting the bi-annual football tournament. The North African country, who interestingly will be hosting the FIFA World Club tournament, had earlier asked CAF to postpone the tournament due to the spread of Ebola virus in parts of West Africa. However, the continental football body insisted that the tournament would go ahead in January 2015 as originally scheduled. It was in this light that Morocco has now informed CAF that the tournament poses health and security risk to its citizens if it should hold on the earlier agreed date. And since both parties could not reach a compromise, they are no longer interested in hosting the competition. Morocco’s withdrawal puts the leadership of CAF in a desperate position. With less than three months to go to the kickoff of the competition, the continental football governing body is yet to announce replacement for the North African country. Already, host of the 2013 edition, South Africa are said to be on standby to host the tournament while Ghana is also said to be ready to host the football showpiece.

I hope the bigots on Nairaland will read this and do something that will alleviate Nigeria from her state and not this Hijab nonsense that they are trying to impose to our public schools.
When broadcasting of miracles on our local TVs was banned, the Christians didn't take the decision to court. It's a thing of common sense.
They should appeal. I'm sure they will lose over and over. No patriotic and sensible person should carry religion on his/her head. People who put religion on their heads are part of the problems in Nigeria today. |

Incase you missed it, popular gossip blogger, Linda Ikeji had her blog taken offline by Google – owners of free popular blogging platform, , over accusations of coypright infringement.
Linda has since taken to her Twitter page to announce that she will be back soon as she is trying to secure a new site.
According to a source in Linda’s camp, the multimillionaire is calm and a Television show is possibly on the table. The source added that Linda is currently weighing her options as moves to acquire a new domain are being frustrated by malicious cyber squatters who have parked all possible domain names she could use.
According to the source who craved anonymity, “It is more publicity for her honestly. Just look at people who have never cared are now paying serious attention. She became popular than Boko Haram yesterday. Linda isn’t bothered at all. She will be back before you know it because the money is there. Online and offline plans are already in the works. She will soon debut a Television show… But that is inside gist. I am not your source oh.”
Another source also confirmed that Linda is in talks with the owner of one of the parked domain names and they are currently discussing a price so it will only be a matter of time before she returns back to number one.
Linda who abandoned modelling for blogging, reportedly makes approximately N120million annually from posting ‘exclusive’ gists and gossip.

Politics › Explain Asari Dokubo’s Role In $9.3m Cash-for-arms Scandal - APC To FG by mrofficial(op): 1:53pm On Oct 08, 2014 |
https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Lanseria-Airport.jpg
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to explain to Nigerians what Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, was doing on the plane that illegally ferried US$9.3 million to South Africa, where Asari Dokubo, another Nigerian and an Israeli were arrested, according to a published report.
In a statement issued in Abuja,Wednesday,by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said since the federal government has taken ownership of the funds by saying the National Security Adviser (NSA) issued the end-user certificate for the arms purchase, it stands to reason that the same government will know the involvement of all those aboard the plane.
It said, therefore, that the federal government has a lot of questions to answer on the whole deal, including whether Asari Dokubo is the contractor or the end user, who he was procuring arms for and for what purpose.
APC said the questions become pertinent because even the NSA, who issued the end-user agreement for the purchase, does not and cannot purchase arms for any of the armed services. The Service Chiefs have separate budgets from the NSA for arms purchase.
”Under our Constitution, the NSA is an adviser and has no executive powers to deploy troops from any of the services or purchase arms for them. That the arms purported to be purchased from South Africa were ordered from the office of the NSA is nothing but a mere fabrication, and raises serious questions about the motive for the purchase.
”Nigerians will therefore like to know on whose behalf Asari Dokubo was purchasing arms. This is very crucial because Asari Dokubo has been threatening that Nigeria will not know peace if his benefactor, President Jonathan, is not re-elected. Therefore, Nigerians will like to know whether he has started stockpiling arms to make his threat a reality, since elections are due in a few months’ time.
”If these arms are meant to fight insurgency, as the government has claimed, what is Asari Dokubo’s business purchasing arms for the Nigerian military, if indeed they were for the military? Does it not occur to the Nigerian government that this man who once took arms against the state may not have jettisoned his sinister plan against the same state? Which country will ever allow a man who once carried arms against the state to now be purchasing arms for the same state? Even if it is true that he is purchasing the arms for the state, what prevents him from also using the opportunity to purchase arms for his own sinister motive? Could this be why Asari Dokubo has been talking publicly and confidently, without official censure, that President Jonathan must be re-elected or Nigeria will not know peace again?” the party queried.
”…on Tuesday, we again asked President Jonathan to come clean on the US$9.3 million and US$5.7 million deals. We also asked him to tell Nigerians the identity of the two Nigerians who were on the plane that illegally ferried money to South Africa. Now that the Nigerians are known, and they are the President’s men, the story has taken a new dimension,” it said.
APC said since those who claim to be fighting for Nigeria’s unity may actually be the ones working against it, since those who lay claim to patriotism may actually be any but patriotic, it is more urgent now, than ever, for the National Assembly to take these cash-for-arms deals seriously, instead of dismissing the concerns of Nigerians on the basis of some rules as the House of Representatives has glibly done.
The party commended the media for keeping the story alive and for working hard to unearth the identity of the Nigerians aboard the ill-fated plane that illegally flew money into another country in violation of that country’s laws and all known tenets of decency.
It called on the media, in pursuance of its constitutional role of a watchdog, not to relent in exposing the circumstances surrounding the cash-for-arms deals, which have seriously embarrassed Nigeria in the comity of nations and which have the potential to threaten Nigeria’s unity, going by the latest revelations.

Politics › 2015: Ijaw Group Backs Oshiomhole For Presidency by mrofficial(op): 1:37am On Oct 07, 2014 |
By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN—IN what appears to be a division within the Ijaw ethnic group over the second term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan, a group, under the aegis of Izon Ibe Global Policy Network,, IGPN, has expressed its resolve to back Governor Adams Oshiomhole for the 2015 presidential election or any other candidate the All Progressives Congress, APC, might sponsor for the polls.
The group condemned incisive statements by some Ijaw sons, stressing the need to make comments that would unite the country irrespective of where the Presidency was ceded.
It would be recalled that youths from the South-South had last week disclosed plans to organise a one-million-man march in Akwa Ibom State, with a view to persuading Governor Oshiomhole to declare his intention to run for the 2015 Presidency.
However, the Ijaw group, in a statement by its spokesman, Ayubalayefa Dennis, expressed optimism that the APC had qualified candidates, like Oshiomhole, capable of addressing the myriad of problems confronting the nation.
He said: “Any sincere Nigerian will see that the APC states are more developed than those of other parties and there is more transparency in governance than they have in PDP states. That is why we are backing APC.
“We want to use this medium to warn some Ijaw leaders who threatened that Nigeria will break up if President Jonathan loses the presidential election. Such leaders should be informed that the era of ethnicity and regional politics is past.”
