Now let's get to the nitty gritty, Crime occurs everywhere (UK, USA, Mexico et al). You might argue the severity of the crimes but the fact is IMO that alone shouldn't really serve as a deterrant to visiting/exploring other countries.
What you really should be concerned about is what kinda guarantees can you b/f provide if you were to travel to Nigeria. Nigeria is a big enough country and we have loads of people that have never experienced any despicable criminal activities you hear about daily in the news. You can always get your in-laws to fly down to abuja or lag for a big family reunion of some sort.

On the issue off your wards getting ill whilst visiting Naija, the first thing most people do before visiting (Nigerians Included) is to take various immunization injections. You can also restrict your stay to states that have commendable class hospitals (Lagos, FCT). Snake bit is a rarity as Nigeria is not a big whole bush. It's actually very developed when compared to other emerging countries.

Trust me, your fears are real but what you ought to be asking are what can be done to mitigate these fears of yours.
Again, you don't have to but I'd advice you to cos frankly 'em fears are not enough for you to give up what you have built with your man.

I would have been worried if he insisted of you guys moving back permanently but it's only a visit so why don't you tag along to experience what the real Nigerians have to offer

Jaybee is right when you deal with the REAL NIGERIANS and not the types you see on this site your visit will be just like any other vacations you would take.  I can understand why you are hesitant because of the things you see on here and hear from your baby daddy.

Just take it a day at a time and who knows you might create a thread of your vacation in Nigeria with REAL NIGERIANS.

If it was important for the girl to visit his home country the MAN in question should have inquired about that BEFORE having children with someone who potentially may never marry him nor visit his home country.

What is sad that they actually believes that they are doing something by throwing dirt ONLINE like that suppose to scare someone    but by the end of the night they are sleeping on the mud concrete using rocks for pillows still mad.

Your honesty have ignited someone to create a thread and spew hatred toward "Foreigners" or "Non-Nigerians" and you caused many of the [nairalist+s] a great deal of pain.  I know why you are saying the things that you are saying because you was fed these information and of course any SANE person would think twice and carefully prepare everything necessary to visit the country if it is necessary.   If you do not want to visit the country that you do not have any desires to visit you have that right because there are people who have expressed on this site that they will not visit this or that country because of A, B, and C.  What make you any different from them? 

Exactly. 

They will express how they feel about your country and your people.  They have created threads dedicating about your country and everything in it.  Then they will get offended because you did the same thing in return.  If they can tell you that you are wrong for your opinions and how you feel ten they should be able to tell the NIGERIAN that is feeding you the bullshit he is wrong.  It is that simple.
