When you get a rejection letter for NOC mismatch or when yo get PPR. That is when you will be certain. So for now, do your homework. Most employers are willing to let you draft your JD, draft it well and let others (not necessarily on Nairaland) look at it for you.

Thank you very much. Hubby is supposed to be the PA . He works for a multinational and they most likely would ask him to resign as soon as soon as he asks for this kind of reference letter. So I do not think they would be willing to let him draft a JD. The altetnative is for me to be the PA ...I havr only 1year of work experience as a Secondary school teacher(NYSC) I am 28 and this will give us a projected score of 459 as against 469 for hubby..so we wanna be sure. Any useful advice will be appreciated.

Well I know for a fact that your work experience does not need to match what you studied in school. These are just employment requirements,
They do not determine your eligibility for FSW/EE.
Thank you. I went on google and found out you are right. Thanks !

Doesn't matter mehn. With your teaching experience and Msc, you are fine.
Got this on their website and it makes me feel not having a Bachelors degree in education would be a problem. Is there anyone that has gone this route please ?

Okay. Thanks!

International passports are not needed for ECAs. However it is needed for IELTS. All the best. Go to page 0 for a lot of helpful information. You can ask case specific questions here and people will attend to it.

Raconteur14:
The two are both important and the order doesn't matter. However, one might delay more than the other and you need to know how long they are valid for. ECAs are valid for 5 years while IELTS is valid for two.

So if you do IELTS first, and your ECA takes a long time to come out (some have done theirs for one year), it reduces the time for the validity of your IELTS.

So it is one's choice really. I am of the opinion that ECA should be done first since it takes longer in this our Nigeria. Both can be done concurrently as well i.e starting your ECA while you book for your IELTS say against Feb/March to give time for preparation. Both could just come in at the same time
Thank you very much. This is very helpful. Do we need to get a passport first to get the ECA done? Cos hubb doesnt have a passport yet and we need to priotize in order of need.

The IQAS processing time of 12 weeks is just an estimate and doesnt take that long.
.
ECA received on 22/1/2018 (Approx 7 weeks after)

That professional degree assessment is worth it o
Time to prepare for IELTS grin angry
It will all end in praise for us all
Congratulations!
I thought the process is to write IELTS first. Can we do ECA before IELTS? Any pros and cons?

1. It actually depends on what they rate his qualification to be equivalent to as per Australian standard. However, since he has Masters, he can use that to claim 15 points.

2. It depends on how the experience being claimed matches their requirements. Make sure his job descriptions matches the ANZSCO description. You can ask in-house for some vetassess guru to help you review before submission.
Thank you so much. He has a bachelors and masters degree from the University of Ibadan so I am hope it counts. VETASSESS gurus please help o. We dont want to waste money on the assessment based on ignorance.
Zany.

Hello everyone. I have really learnt a lot from this thread. My husband wants to apply for the 190 visia. His nominated occupation is Marketing specialist and ia to be assessed by VETASSESS. He studied Botany but has job experience in marketing for over 5 years. The requirements for his nominated requires a degree relevant to the occupation, but if the person doesnt have a relevant degree,at least, 3 years relevant work experience.
My questions:
1. Will he still be awarded 15 points for having a bachelors degree ? (he actually has a masters too)
2. Will he still be awarded full points for his 5+ work experience ?
Your responses will be appreciated. Thanks !
