Mainoo and Casemiro were running on fumes. Surprised Carrick didn't sub them or at least one of them.

Anyways good win. Important 3 points.

I know this club never does anything easy or straightforward.

Really surprised no Sesko starting. Heaven would also feel unlucky not to start but Yoro had a really nice cameo last match.

I think teams feared them and played rather cautiously for some reason, especially after the Eze transfer and their defensive stunt.
they got numbers in every position and are the same. I still think they are strong at the back and that's just about it.
Their attack might be the worst in the top 6 teams. not a single one of their attackers will be in the team of the season. I guess its true that defence can really carry to you titles because no one else wants to win the league so they might just win it by default. They're shit.

I havent really watched him but reports suggest he has similar qualities to Casemiro.

I guess if Carrick would still be in charge next season, a deep-lying "passer" like he was during his heydays at the club might be the preferred option.

This one that Tonali's agent is hawking him about - Is he still as good as he was when Newcastle were doing well?
He's a good midfielder for sure but he's not the ground eating dynamo we need. His style is more Mainoo than Casemiro so if we get a Elliot Anderson for example alongside him them that would definitely be an upgrade.

Hopefully the Tonali rumours are true.
His agent is trying to get him out of Newcastle this summer. He's been shopped out to all the top prem teams this summer.

It just depends on how much money is available. SJR was talking like we had no money last summer and people were thinking of Delap only for him to spend big on 3 attacking players.

If the money is tight the focus should be CM (at least 2), a starting LW, a rotation CF. Since Cunha has refused to man the LW maybe he can be retooled to be Bruno's long-term replacement next season.

4 or 5 top quality reinforcements via transfer and hopefully a few academy players can step up to save us some money. It is about time a few of them stepped up and did a Mainoo.

We have 5 serviceable CBs, 2 serviceable senior RBs and a few potential academy RBs. Shaw, Dorgu, and if under duress, Heaven can play LB. Amass might be in the squad next season as well. We have 2 senior RWs and an academy RW.
I would really want us to buy a LB in the summer. I like west ham's diouf and he has an amazing cross on him.

Sometimes I don't understand coaches n players.Thomas frank was enjoying n making his mark at Brentford yet he decided going to spurs.Same for Xavi
Look also Trent at Real Madrid.A commanding figure in Liverpool now a benchwarmer .We can't also forget Hazard
We probably cant understand it because we're not elite athletes or managers in the game trying to get to the top. Frank cant get to the top without leaving Brentford. Madrid will always be bigger than Liverpool. That's just the way it is. They will always trying to get to the bigger fish.

As much as I abuse Amorim and happy he has left I'll always be grateful that he got rid of Garnacho.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by MRTA7: 4:21pm On Jan 29
Goosethetruth:
The fact is that Michael Carrick has simplified the atmosphere at Old Trafford while Amorim chose to complicate issues in the same atmosphere.
Carrick and Steve Holland are hands on coaches who lead their coaching sessions themselves. Carrick has reduced the time spent on these training sessions and tried to make the sessions more interesting and simple to the players.
Carrick has reverted all players to their natural and strongest positions on the football field.
Carrick has jettisoned Amorim’s rigid 3 at the back defensive system and reverted to a more positive and conventional 4 at the back system.
Obviously Carrick has tried to make the players feel important, positive and wanted compared to Amorim who consistently and constantly threw the players under the bus by labelling them the worst players in Manchester United's history.
Recently Carrick was in attendance at the clubs under 18 team game to watch and encourage the youth player, which was something Amorim NEVER did in his over a year tenure as a coach. It says a lot about Amorim’s arrogance that he had no interest in watching the U18 and U 21 teams at anytime during his tenure.

On to the next game with Fulham which is a game I am looking onto with a positive air and aura. If Amorim was still in charge I would have been apprehensive and in trepidation of a game against Fulham.
That is the difference between a simple cerebral coach and an arrogant coach who has an overbloated impression of himself.
I still think we need to slow down on crowning Carrick yet . Lets see what happens this summer.

Fulham should not even matter. Its at the end of the season that his performance should be reviewed and judged.

I dont think we need a midfielder in this January. I think we can make do with what we have and go big in the summer.

So 4 senior midfielders and a Yoot to run a whole season campaign? What happens when injuries hit?

You'll practically have 1 senior midfielder and 1 Yoot on the bench.

Thats a recipe for disaster
I'm just not sure we can afford 3 midfield signings when we need at least another fb. Bruno and mount can also cover.

2 midfielders out, then sign 2 midfielders when you are already short of midfielders.

Make sense
I don't think we're short if we promote one academy player next season.

With Casemiro out this summer and if we're lucky enough to get Ugarte out as well we need to sign 2 midfielders in the summer.

People are already doing that.

Those ex guys have contributed to the noise instead of reducing it. They’re not really that smart if you think about it.

I so much respect Ian Wright. In spite of his media exposure, you’ll never hear him going after Arsenal players or or going personal in his criticism. He understands the weight his words carry.
I actually am ok with players being critised for their performances. it is normal and should be expected as part of the expectations of playing for a big club. What shouldnt be acceptable is how they ridiculed Lisandro. Nothing to do with his performances just ridiculing him for his size. That to me is unacceptable.

Meanwhile Scholes and Butt have been embarrassing themselves for the past few days.

Very disappointing.
I always say this when people think that professionals have better insight than we do because they played the game at the highest level. Everyone is has the ability to spout nonsense.

But then you have to question the wisdom of the top guys who went for a strict 3-4-3 coach in the first place.

Fingers have been pointing at Berrada as the person who pushed for Amorim. Ashworth didn't want him because of the formation issue but that one wanted Southgate. Wilcox also didn't want Amorim because of the formation issue.

I think Amorim's sack is linked to Wilcox finally getting control over football matters above Berrada.

The formation is only part of the problem though. All our struggles pre-Amorim came in a back 4 formation. Wilcox and Vivell have to work hard at improving the squad and appointing a quality head coach.
Either Berrada or Wilcox or both needs to be sacked at the end of the season.

They have still not shown the VAR images of that Mount goal that was ruled offside.
PGMOL should fear God o.
I think but not sure that they only checked the offside against Ake but they should have checked against Rodri as well who looked like he was further behind.
