I was asked the same question on osi model, after listing the seven layers from the top to the bottom, they asked me at which layer does the router work and I gave them the answer which is the network layer(layer 3). They probed further by asking me what's the function of a router. Lol I smiled in my mind because I have practical skills in networking and I am also
very good in theory. I actually had some difficulties in the situational and behavioral questions, but I still gave them the answers the asked for albeit not swiftly. I'm hoping for the best.
Please are you a GT or EH?
I'm also good in php and MySQL.maybe we can know more about each other.
Hey bro, you tried by naming the seven layers. I am GT, currently working as a data analyst, i study programming by the side. I am good in html, css, JavaScript...Sure, i'd like to connect with you.

My interview experience was quite interesting, I wanted to be noticed by anyone interviewing me, so I mentioned in my CV how the company I work for (a Tax investigation Firm) recovered unpaid Taxes (hundreds of millions of $) for the FGN from oil servicing and man-power companies in the oil and gas industry :

6 of us were called from the theater, the secretary or HR rep was a beautiful lady, she asked for our CV’s and left. Minutes later she came back and asked “who is ….” I answered, she smiled and said “in your CV, you said you like meeting people, is that true?” LOL I was shocked, I couldn’t remember writing that because I wrote some portions years ago, whenever I updated it, I never bothered about those parts, she noticed I was contemplating and said “ I hope you did all those things you mentioned in your CV” and left. Sharply, I started browsing my CV and memorizing the parts I never bothered myself with while two guys were ushered in before me.

I greeted all the panelist and was asked to take a seat, the chief panelist introduced everyone to me and asked me the almighty question TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF. I explained in details my job position, what my company does and kept linking my experience with what NNPC required in their key competencies. I spent close to 5 minutes explaining all these. They asked the software’s we use, how we protect our data, how many projects we were currently working on etc. I was asked IT questions such as what is malware, software bug, programming, how many languages can I program in, what programming project have I worked on, name the 7 layers of the OSI Model which I couldn’t remember but they shrugged it off by saying with all these years as an analyst you wont remember much about networking.

The HSE question caught me off guard, I was asked to explain how my office practices safety, LOL, lord knows we don’t do nothing on safety in my company, luckily, I was able to use their office as reference, I talked about office light to be easy on the eye, well leveled tables and chairs for comfort, tried to stop there but they kept pressing for more, so I remembered the TV in the theater and explained how we are being told in my office to exit via the stairs instead of the lift in case of fire and also taught how to use the fire extinguisher, sharply one of them just asked if I can teach them too, lol I just told them that I don’t listen to the explanation much because I pray to God never to experience fire outbreak, they all laughed and felt satisfied with my answer.

I was also asked to explain a difficult situation I faced, told them about a client that needed an arduous job done in 3 days and how I met the deadline by using extra man hours and delegating other team members and mentioning their skills used in accomplishing the task. The panel chairman decided to give me a nick name “The Data Man”, I was smiling but deep inside, I was like “I hope say no be washing be this”. Then they said I can ask a question, I inquired what was the next stage, they said the interview was the final but medicals was needed to know if fit for NNPC and security check will be done to know if you’re a yahoo boy…lol I raised my hand up and said “sir, I have never stolen in my life (inside me, I remember stealing meat from kitchen sha lol)” they all laughed and kept saying “the data man”, they thanked me and told me that was all, I thanked them also and left.

The secretary saw me out and silently told me “you did well”, I thanked her too and she went back in. I shook everyone waiting for their interview wished them good luck and left.

Finally, my favorite saying “Life is hard, but it’s harder if you’re stupid”, I do wish to work in NNPC but if in the end I do not get it, I move on. As a matter of fact, I am working on a personal website project which involves publicity, currently 90% done, I will drop the link here soon for anyone who wishes to join and its free.

From my source:

1. They finished aggregating scores on Saturday (didn't state which scores were aggregated)
2. Plan was to finish earlier but due to number of candidates, they couldn't.
3. This week will be for setting cutoff per state and selecting based on FCC requirements.
4. Hopefully, list will go to presidency for ratification this week.
5. About 1300 to be hired but could increase. Increase may be because of list of 'special candidates' that may be added at the presidency.
6. Everything about who gets selected boils down to state of origin and number of people to employ per role.
7. Pray for favour.
8. Mentioned 2 indigent people that got automatic employment during interview. (I won't say more about this).

Peace!
Lol...If this is true , trust me, the next time NNPC calls for interview almost everyone that goes through this thread will wear rags to NNPC towers...Local men and women go just turn the interview to rag-day.

Rather than study interview tips, they will start studying how to explain the way poverty runs in their family... grin grin grin

Personally, i will take the temporary offer but by God whose hand is my soul, the day NNPC holla at local man, i go jakpa...don't let your village pple win...

Still about the access bank conspiracy theory. I contacted my legit source/sauce at the NNPC towers, he told me that most of the people considered for the next phase of the recruitment were those that had their interviews on 2nd of July, because they have the overall best performance in the whole interview. I can now see the reason why most of those interviewed on that day didn't received their tf. Congratulations brothers and sisters in advance. See you during documentation.
Lol....Bro this your "sauce" get as e be, Local men and women will come for you oh...

TLDR
* 9-month full stack boot camp with no tuition. See the curriculum here.
* At the end of programme, you could be hired by Paystack.
* You'd have to pay a portion of your salary if you get a job after the programme. Otherwise (if you don't find a job or can't reach the minimum income level), you don't have to pay anything.
See the FAQ for more.
I applied and took the test. Have not heard from them yet...Have they recruited anyone yet?

Hello everyone, i am planning on applying for msc coursework comp sci, i have a uk degree with an average of 72%, graduated 2014 with 2 years working experience as a data analyst, unfortunately, most schools i have seen so far request for a minimum of 75% in order to be considered for admission, please kindly help with less competitive schools that do not require contacting a supervisor or going via PGD the only way forward??...

Thanks

If the school does not require a supervisor, please do not adhere to the errorneous advice to contact faculties. For what? It gives no edge. My school didn't require me to get any supervisor. I contacted no one. I got a full scholarship. Your academic qualification and statement of intent are the edges you need.
Hello Boss,

Please which school is this, i would really like to know.

Thanks

I totally get your point boss.

Yea, you can.

Have you checked other unis that have a more robust program im comp sci with possible research interests in cloud computing/big data?

I am saying this because, it will be worth the while to go for a full msc especially with your qualification rather than get denied by the VO for "purpose of visit".

No vex, I just dey try talk wetin me I go do smiley.

That said, if you.present a thorough application, you should get your trv.
Thanks Bro, much appreciated.

Hello boss,

I really do not know if they contact employers or not but i believe if you have a well put application, you will get your trv approved, by God's grace.

Also, you are a data analyst now and you have a comp sci degree, mehn going for computer software might limit you(my opinion though)... Why not apply for masters in data science(That gives a perfect combo of comp science and data analysis)or even masters in comp science (then focus on software engineering or data mining/analysis), you wont even have to worry about too much grammar in your sop.

Take for example, I have a bsc mathematics, msc comp science and now going for phd comp sci (IOT Specialization)... they are all linked because mathematics is the basic prerequisite for my specialization.

Just take your time to do a thorough search and patiently select that which will give you more access to both admission and trv...

Just my opinion though.

Warm Regards,

Mazi
My Chairman,

Thanks i really appreciate, like u said i have been doing some research on the school (Lambton), i realised they have Cloud Computing for big data which is basically 80% of what i do at work, but its Graduate Studies not Msc and i graduated 2014 First Class Comp Sci British degree, did my NYSC 1 Year and got my present job as data analyst around July 2015...i'm i good to go with my visa application with a pgd offer in Cloud Computing.

Cheers.

Hello boss,

The information you gave is incomplete.

However, should we want to advice you based on what you supply, it is going to be difficult to get trv except you have some considerable work experience in advanced PM...

Why dont you look for something in comp science that makes linking to PM easy especially with the way courses are being combined now.

Just my though though...
My chairman,

Thanks, i guess i"ll just apply for Computer software then, although i currently work as a data analyst in a strict private consultancy firm where a former colleague once requested for study leave and he got fired, the issue is that i will submit my statements of accounts, employment letter and any data of mine related to the company to the Canadian embassy. I would like to know if the embassy would contact the company i work with coz i dnt want to loose both ways i.e no visa and also loose my job.

Cheers bro

One thing you may need to know is that it is one thing to get admitted into your preferred program and another to get a study permit for that program.

I see there is disparity in your academic qualifications and what you intend to seek admission. In what so ever decision you eventually take, endeavour to gain admission in a program that reflect a need( more skills/knowledge) in your CURRENT activity(work, study, research). This way, you will not have so much hurdles to cross convincing a visa officer that the program in which you seek a study permit is right for you and will help your career/activity significantly and progressively.
Good Day bro...

please, i have a degree in Comp. Science and i plan on applying for a post grad degree on Advanced Project Management and Leadership, will this be an issue when applying for my study permit...

Thanks
