Hello all,

I have been experience an issue. I’ve been trying to book an appointment for myself and my husband using his profile.

I have been unable to update the DS160 confirmation number from the old one to the new one I just filled. It keeps saying ‘Save unsuccessful’.

Please can anyone assist with the way forward, I’m stumped.

Thank you.

Hello Gigli, congratulations.

Please confirm what documents you included when submitting your passport. Did you have to include your receipts, itemized bill etc?

My case is similar to yours and your response to this would help guide me accordingly.

Thank you.

Gigli:

Hello,
Please does your itemized bill sum up to $5,000? I’ll appreciate if I can see a copy.

Thank you.

Oke2017:
Include your itemized bill, my hospital bill was around $5000 and I got my visa approved last month.

Eclectica:
Hi @Cretaceous

After the birth of your baby, someone from birth records office will come to give you the birth reg form (this is usually within 24hrs of the baby's birth). Once filled, hand it back to the person and advise them you want it sent immediately as you need it expedited.

As we were told at the time, the birth reg office will send this information to their Austin Office (thru thier internal system) at The Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics in Austin (http://www.houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/). In my estimation, it takes about 1 - 2 Business Days for it to be confirmed on the bereau of Stats system.
(Please note that if your baby comes on a weekend, the birth records office of HNWMC will send the baby's birth details to Asutin the next business day).

After being discharged, we called the HNWMC birth records office if it had been sent, once they confirmed it had been sent, we went to pick it up 2 business days later. Check Address up (Houston Downtown) on website below
(http://www.houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/contact_us.html)

Some other pple do pick-ups at court houses.......I'm not sure how one can go about that.........I hope someone can shed some light on this.

In all, we got our baby's BC in 4 Business Days

For the Passport:
To get it expedited, you have to book an appointment at the Passport Office in Houston (Downtown Houston) ......this can be done over the phone or online. Details can be found here:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/requirements/where-to-apply/passport-agencies/houston.html

However, please do note that you might not get a an appointment for a date that will suit your travel plans as this is a busy period for them. So what they'll advise you over the phone is that you come to their office 3 business days before your travel date. (evidence of travel and other details you will need to be presented to them ......information on these are on that website)

We went 3 business days before our travel date and got the passport in 24hrs (1business day).

I hope these my plenty stories will be useful.
Hello, please confirm if you had added your LO to your ticket as proof of travel or you just used your return ticket.

Thank you.

Hope we are all taking advantage of the weather to prepare for our next missionary journey. God will definitely see us through.

Please has anyone tried to use Expedia to book local US flights from Nigeria ? Does it accept our debit card as payment online.

Or how do you guys book your local US flights from Nigeria.

Thanks for your response.
I was able to book a local flight from JFK to ABQ on Expedia and paid using my GTB Naira Mastercard.

Good morning people, please for those who attended their visa appointment without being able to upload their passport photographs, were you allowed in ?
No! You’d be asked to upload the image which might mean filling another DS160 form thereby causing at least 72houra delay to enable you link the form to your profile. Ill advice you keep trying to upload the image, take anew photos and ask for the image as soft copy in the required measurement.

Thanks for the response. Please what exactly was asked about your husband? Making this decision on who to use is really putting me on edge. I wanted to use my father but an agent adviced against it- that it does not show I have a good relationship with my husband and may not come back to Nigeria. And also that they rarely give visa to those whose fathers are sponsors.
Hmmm I guess I’m the exception then, I was asked question about my husband to which I responded to. He then asked who’s sponsoring, I told him my dad but my husband and I also have some money saved aside, showed him my bank statement showing the saved sum and also my dad’s statement.

Good afternoon house,

Urgent question that needs an urgent answer please.

Does it matter if a father is sponsoring a married woman as opposed to her husband for medical visa application?
Nah! My dad was my sponsor and I got the visa

Okay,do you think paying the hospital bills before going for the interview is an added advantage to secure the visa or what do you think?

Thanks
I waited till i was sure of the result of my interview.

The VO asked if i paid and i said no that I was waiting for the outcome of the interview, he told me good decision. Now i've gone ahead to pay in preparation of my POE interview.

Yes you can, these are not things that qualify you for Dropbox as I had the same situation and still qualified for Dropbox.

Although everyone’s visa was renewed but mine, I got a 221g follow up interview before I was finally given.

Hello All,

I just want to say a very big thank you to you all. This forum helped me with my visa application. I’ll love to share my story as it might help the next person.

I’ve been to the United States several times in the past and still have a valid visa expiring in July (exactly on my EDD).

I decided to renew the visa via Dropbox as I wasn’t comfortable being in another man’s land with an expired visa (I later learnt from this forum that this wasn’t an issue as your duration of stay is determined by the CBP)

I applied through Dropbox with 3 other members of my family (our visas were expiring on the same day). All 3 of them got their visa but me. I was asked to schedule a follow-up interview based on a 221g category.

Many thanks to this forum I got all my supporting documents ready, scheduled the interview and below is my transcript.

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning and how are you doing?
VO: Very well thank you. And why are you going to the United States
Me: Vacation and to have my baby
VO: I see you’ve traveled several times to the U.S, do you always stay in New Mexico (this info he clearly got from my DS160)
Me: Oh no, my sister just moved there from Visalia, California, it will be my first time in Albuquerque NM.
VO: I don’t know which is worse Visalia, CA or Albuquerque, NM...hahahha
Me: hahahha (I didn’t get the joke though)
VO: So what do you do
Me: I work with so so so and so
VO: For how long?
Me: x years now
VO: Are you married?
Me: Yes
VO: Will your husband be traveling with you?
Me: Sadly no because of work but my mum will be joining me later on.
VO: What does your husband do?
Me: He also works in the same place as I do as so so so and so
VO: What’s your budget for this trip?
Me: $15,000
VO: Have you made any payments?
Me: No I haven’t, I decided to wait till after the interview just in case
VO: Good decision. Do you have an appointment with a doctor and can I see statement showing you can pay for this trip.
Me: Sure...handing him the appointment letter from the doctor’s office, the hospital and doctor’s bills and also my statement of accounts.
VO: Oh great, after reviewing for about a minute. He returned all documents and starts typing for what seemed like forever and then he says...
VO: Your visa has been granted, you can pick up your passport at the address circled after you receive an email or text message for pick up.
Me: Thank you very much.

From time of entry to exit all took about 30minutes.
