Nonia:

Dear Cretaceous ,
Please forgive my inability to send directly to you .The question is actually meant for you. From your post,i noticed you used a hospital in Houston and stayed in a rented Apartment .
Presently am processing my Visa and yet to pick an interview date.i have got some cost estimates for vaginal and CS for a hospital in California but i prefer to use Houston.

Can you pls assist with the cost estimates for the hospital and accommodation and if possible necessary contacts (email address or phone numbers)? This is to enable me conclude on scheduling my Appointment

So I've been a silent reader on this thread as well. Had my POE experience at Atlanta yesterday and it was as smooth as a breeze. Got into Atlanta at about 5pm.

CBP: Good day ma'am, I see you're here to have your baby. (I'm showing already)
Me: Yes I am
CBP: I could tell.
Me: *smiles, yes ma'am, I've got a big stomach
CBP: I see you have declared food.
Me: Yes, I came with some of my local foods. All dried foods.
CBP: Not a problem. Enjoy your stay. Stamped me in for 6 months.

It was hard to believe but I thank God it was a smooth experience. On my way out, got stopped by one of the officials who asked if I had ogbono, egusi, indomie, etc and she let me go. When I got home, noticed they had opened my box and inspected it and had left a notice of baggage inspection.

hello. I have been reading the threads and it has been quite enlightening.

Appreciate your kind responses.

1. your application now will give u a B1/B2 visa which covers for both trips. u won't need to reapply later if successful.

2a. you may go with your family for your interview now. just state it as it is. you have a business to attend in august & also childbirth with your family in october. but make sure u have all the supporting documents & burden of proof for childbirth ready.

I went with my chidren for my interview in February even though we had different travel dates. mine was in march primarily for childbirth while theirs was in april for childbirth & vacation. they travelled with their dad.

2b. as had been advised, you can go alone now while they apply later. but bear in mind that u won't be abLe to go with them. I suppose they will be fine without you.

I will say British Airways. Although it all depends on the trip duration and layover.

But when it comes to infant luggage allowance, British airways gives 23kg while KLM /Airfrance gives just 10kg.
Its left for u to decide.

I've used KLM with my baby twice and checked in one 23kg suitcase for her both times. I personally prefer KLM.

Hello All,

I just want to say a very big thank you to you all. This forum helped me with my visa application. I’ll love to share my story as it might help the next person.

I’ve been to the United States several times in the past and still have a valid visa expiring in July (exactly on my EDD).

I decided to renew the visa via Dropbox as I wasn’t comfortable being in another man’s land with an expired visa (I later learnt from this forum that this wasn’t an issue as your duration of stay is determined by the CBP)

I applied through Dropbox with 3 other members of my family (our visas were expiring on the same day). All 3 of them got their visa but me. I was asked to schedule a follow-up interview based on a 221g category.

Many thanks to this forum I got all my supporting documents ready, scheduled the interview and below is my transcript.

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning and how are you doing?
VO: Very well thank you. And why are you going to the United States
Me: Vacation and to have my baby
VO: I see you’ve traveled several times to the U.S, do you always stay in New Mexico (this info he clearly got from my DS160)
Me: Oh no, my sister just moved there from Visalia, California, it will be my first time in Albuquerque NM.
VO: I don’t know which is worse Visalia, CA or Albuquerque, NM...hahahha
Me: hahahha (I didn’t get the joke though)
VO: So what do you do
Me: I work with so so so and so
VO: For how long?
Me: x years now
VO: Are you married?
Me: Yes
VO: Will your husband be traveling with you?
Me: Sadly no because of work but my mum will be joining me later on.
VO: What does your husband do?
Me: He also works in the same place as I do as so so so and so
VO: What’s your budget for this trip?
Me: $15,000
VO: Have you made any payments?
Me: No I haven’t, I decided to wait till after the interview just in case
VO: Good decision. Do you have an appointment with a doctor and can I see statement showing you can pay for this trip.
Me: Sure...handing him the appointment letter from the doctor’s office, the hospital and doctor’s bills and also my statement of accounts.
VO: Oh great, after reviewing for about a minute. He returned all documents and starts typing for what seemed like forever and then he says...
VO: Your visa has been granted, you can pick up your passport at the address circled after you receive an email or text message for pick up.
Me: Thank you very much.

From time of entry to exit all took about 30minutes.

Hello everyone. I had a baby in the U.S. five years ago. Paid all my bills to the letter. Applied again 2 years ago but via Dropbox. Called for an interview but was denied. Reason: even though I wasn't pregnant when I got the visa, at the point of entry I should have stated I was pregnant. I am so scared of reapplying because truthfully it's emotionally draining getting denied. Do you advise that I reapply and state in the application I am pregnant and going for medicals.

So I am reporting live from Houston! I posted my B2 Visa interview back in February.
I arrived IAH last Friday at 35 weeks via British Airways. Don't know why people keep scaring others from coming through Houston. I heard I could still get turned back even with a B2 visa. Thank God I didnt changed my POE last minute.

I left Abuja 8:05am on Thursday. I had a fit to fly which wasnt requested for. I kept wondering who I was supposed to show the letter.
The flight was very ok and comfy. I deliberately planned to break the trip and rest in London for a day. We arrived Heathrow 2:05 pm and I went straight to Immigration. It was very busy and I spent over an hour. Finally got to my turn and the officer asks why I am there. Told him I was traveling the next day to give birth in US. He asked to see my Fit to Fly and asked several questions. He even turned to his colleague to ask what documents were needed. That one told him I only needed fit to fly and a Visa. So he stamped me and I left to my hotel.
The next day, I continued to Houston. The flight was okay as well and my compression socks worked well. I saw 2 other pregnant ladies in the flight and one was a nairalander who dragged me to the front that we weren't supposed to queue even though the airport wasn't busy.

Officer: Good afternoon. What brings you here
Me: Good afternoon. To have my baby.
Officer: Is this your first child
Me: Yes
Officer: How long are you staying?
Me: 2 months.
Officer: Are you alone on this trip
Me: Yes, But my mom will be here in three weeks time
Officer: How much cash do you have for this purpose
Me: S10,000 and another $6000 in my card.
Officer: Dont bring it out, just tell me. Where are you staying
Me: Intown suites. I hand him my reservation.
Officer: This shows for just one week (its actually 1 month, he didnt study it well)
Me: Yes, I was only allowed to make reservation for a certain amount of time until I show up.
Officer: Okay, Make sure you keep all your receipts. He then stamps me in for 6 months

As I make to leave, he gently explains that he would give me an escort to take me to count my money. he was really polite.
The escort suggested I first went to baggage claim.
I Picked up my bags and was given a form to fill in the cash. But it wasnt eventually counted.
The officer just asked to see the cash . He asked random questions about my occupation and asked to see my doctor's letter. (Guess he was just been over zealous).

Then, I went straight to the Supershuttle stand and got a shared ride to my accommodation. It was cheaper than uber.

Please what is needed to notorise a document at US embassy in Lagos.

You need to book the appointment online. Then your hubby is to appear at the embassy with his original Passport and photocopy of his biodata page. He should also take the form to be notarized, preferably printed in color format. It’s free
