King Mswati III has announced that his country had changed its name to eSwatini to mark 50 years since independence from British rule.

He said the move was also necessary to stop the country from being confused with Switzerland.

Meaning 'place of the Swazi', eSwatini is the Swazi language name for the tiny nation landlocked betweenSouth Africa and Mozambique.

Unlike some countries, Swaziland did not change its name when it gained independence in 1968 after being a British protectorate for more than 60 years.

King Mswati III declared the name change during independence day celebrations at a packed sports stadium in the second city of Manzini.

A girl identified as "Chidera" has survived a free fall from 3 storey building during a play with her peers.

According To Reports, The incident occurred on Wednesday, 11 April 2018, on 3B Ekwe Street, Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. It was gathered that the girl was running at a top speed through the house’s corridor to the veranda.

She then pushed the veranda’s protective railings, in order to come to a halt. However, the weak railings gave way, causing her to fall down. She was immediately rushed to a hospital where she’s currently receiving medical attention.

A final year female Unilag student was arrested today for stealing her boyfriend’s ATM card and using it to buy an iPhone 8 and X on Jumia.

According to reports, the lady bought other items on Jumia too. However, her boyfriend, in collaboration with Jumia, traced the buyer to Unilag’s Moremi Hall where the delivery was made.

That was how the suspect was arrested and handed over to the school’s DSA. An eyewitness said: “It appears, she's been scamming guys with her friends for a long time.

When the Jumia officials came to the hostel, she hid the phones in a bag and threw them in the dustbin. The girl is actually using an iPhone 7 Plus. However, upon realizing what was happening, the boyfriend demanded that the case be dropped.”

In what came as a surprise on Wednesday, Ovie Omo-Agege, a senator from Delta state, invaded the national assembly with thugs who seized the mace.

Omo-Agege, who was suspended from the red chamber last week for speaking against election reordering and siding with Pres. Buhari, accompanied the unidentified persons as they made their way to waiting vehicles. Security personnel at the national assembly were overwhelmed.
