If you even consider inflation and Naira depreciation you will also see that the 70million Naira appreciation in tax revenue is just too damn small given also the sharp increase in taxation and VAT rates by this govt.

All govt services have also increased and as such VAT ought to increase as well

Buhari's govt has saddled Nigerians with more tax than any and this same govt with Kemi Adeosun as FM rolled out an aggressive and retrogressive tax regime to the point of increasing importation tax on essential life saving pharmaceutical drugs like anti Malaria and antibiotics to the point that these drugs which were widely accessible became out of reach to the vast majority of poor Nigerians.

Now where is the tax revenue from non oil sectors that they claimed will take nigeria out of dependency from oil?

This govt has doubled and tripled tax on several items.

Increase of VAT on Alcohol and Tobacco alone plus even essential pharmaceutical drugs like anti Malaria and Antibiotics have soared but still the FG has realised a sharp drop in tax revenues.

The FIRS collects VAT on even your motor vehicle annual renewal fees, electricity and Fuel bills which have all tripled in costs but still nothing.

The level of outright blatant theft currently going on is mind boggling.

Do you remember that foolish minister of communication who directed mobile telephone providers to increase cost so as to see more revenue for the NCC? Well that is the exact thing Fashole did with DISCOs, he gave them the go ahead to increase tariffs so that he can get his much desired kickback.
