They really hit a purple patch last WAFCON but they've been unconvincing in this edition.

Of all our players since 2015, none is outstanding except Osimhen. This is factual. The evidence is before our very eyes and by mentioning that we are still searching for a jay jay or Italy still searching for a Totti, you make my point.

Chukwueze, Benjamin, Akor, Nnadi, Zadok - these are just regular players. How is this even a debate to the point of saying that my statement is false. Chukwueze broke through at same period as Osimhen and delivered for Nigeria at Afcon 2019 as a 19yr old. Went on to star in the UCL reaching the semis scoring the goal that knocked out Bayern and helping Villarreal to a UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE WIN. He is a real talent.

Benjamin Frederick broke through and practically retired William Troost Ekong before Ekong himself called time officially on the Super Eagles. Proved himself in high stakes games in GWG colors. A real talent and still so young.

Akor Adams? From his debut game he has not looked back and is a bonafide starter in the Super Eagles today. Delivered at the Afcon too. Another real talent.

So based off what you said, your assertion is false.


We are not talking World Class players. We are talking real actual talents in the Super Eagles.

Till today, we dont have an Okocha-class midfielder, but we are not the only ones. Brazil are still looking for their next Ronaldo De Lima. Since 2006.

Italy still searching for their next Totti. Totti replaced Roberto Baggio eventually. But ever since Totti... no one else so far.

Nations take years before they see Generational World Class Talents. Ours currently is Osimhen and he wont be the last. Before him were Mikel Obi, Okocha, Oliseh, Kanu and co.

'Standout and deliver' = outstanding.

None apart from Osimhen. The roster of players you reeled off are just that: players. Regular talents.

These are just players. Of that we produce plenty. None are outstanding.

I think there’s a bias, Thomas Nkono is better than some of these guys , although I didn’t watch him but people who did speak very highly of him. Even Buffon said he’s the reason why he decided to become a keeper, he even named one of his child Thomas because of him

Happy Birthday to King Kanu Nwankwo... Nigeria's most decorated footballer of all time. Only John Mikel Obi comes really close in these terms.

Many won't recall Ajax's Louis Van Gaal's first sub in the 1995 UCL Final was Kanu, who came in on 53mins for Clarence Seedorf and faced off against the Legendary Franco Baresi and Costa Curta CB Pair.

Finidi George started that game as well, playing the full 90mins.

I think Kanu is the most skilful Nigerian player of the modern era

Baba, Onyedika no be am. He was there before Frank Onyeka. He's been unable to stake a permanent place in our midfield. He's dead wood. He should be phased out

I have this feeling Onyedika won't do well at Frankfurt. I guess it is because I no longer have faith in him, and I pray I'm wrong.

He had one opportunity to stamp his name in gold like Sunday Mba did in that Quarter final game against CIV in 2013 and unlike Mba, Onyedika flunked it.

He was timid, cautious and tepid. Since then, I want him phased out completely. But I wish him well in his club.

The legendary Baresi and Fredricks both have similar features. Slightly on the short side for defenders but very comfortable on the ball. Both rely on smart interceptions and positioning rather than brute force or strength.

If Benjamin can be half as good as Capitano then he will have a very good career.

Yeah. I wish that young players who have chosen football and are already professionals use part of their spare time to read, watch and study the great players of the past so that they can carry their legacies forward.

Benjamin plays like Beckenbaeur too. (Baresi was also called Franz Kaiser because he played like Beckenbaeur)

Benjamin has so much potential. Remember that sweeping run he made during our play off against Gabon?

From the clips I've seen of Baresi, I can see that he had an outstanding ability to read the game, he could track the movement of the ball with his mind. This gave him an impeccable sense of timing and poise.

I've read two strikers say that at the end of a match, they exchanged jersey with Baresi. While theirs were soaked with sweat, his own was still fresh. In fact one added that it still smelt of his cologne.

All these to say he was an effective defender.
