I don't even know how Nigeria got to this stage... Imagine treating PGS with such i dont care attitude.

Who did this to us? Bad leadership, Selfisshness, Corruption?

Not only in your department, faculty or school o. I applied for same programme the same year as you did in the same school but in a different department. They frustrated me when I'm writing my thesis until I abandoned the programme by early 2019

We need more accounts on this as to expose[b] FUTO for the FRAUD[/b] they truly are.

Shame on FUTO

Many have dropped out and will drop out.

Indeed the education system in Nigeria is a huge joke.

Nobody cares no more, all and every seeking selfish interests.

FUTO should scrap their Post graduate program for Petroleum Engineering, and stop stealing from her students

In my department, u see students still bearing 2002/2001 reg numbers coming for mock/departmental defense, and you be like WTF.

I remembered been in the class of my HOD, and he said "It takes a period of 4 - 5 years atleast to be certified with a Master of Engineering from this department".

I had rounded up my Thesis since late 2018 but owing to the bottlenecks above i haven't been cleared for faculty defense.

Years gone, nothing to show for, most of my colleagues have abandoned their studies. We were a total of Ten ab initio, but now two left to push further.

I had gained admission to study Masters of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering in the month of March, 2017.

As usual, my registration/matric number bare a "PG/2016-17" as its prefix. Little did i know this was just a perfection of a sstematic plan to drain students of their money.

Do you know the school has a policy of school fees payment per session which is not dependent on your academic progress be it course Work or thesis stage.

Inotherwords, you can be done with your course work within a year or so, but as long as your thesis isnt cleared to your external defense, you are indebted to the institution which must be cleared before your final defense.

It doesnt just end there, but a student is expected to pay his/her fees from the year you applied for the schools admission and not the year you were given admission.

In my case, i am to pay my fees from the year 2016, and not 2017 when i got my provisional admission.

This you see, this itself is a clear case of the emboldement FRAUD which serves as your first source of frustation.

Also, the PGS(post graduate school) and School Senate is aware of the tacts employed by the Head of Departments and Lecturers of various Academic departments in delaying and frustating students in the guise of supervisory of thesis, failure to mark students exam script, missing students database etc, just to mention a few.

The Senate isn't worried as long as students keep contributing to the school cofers in the name of school fees.

Yea, you got the subject right, without mincing words it's a killer of dreams, a hogwash of a joke and a gathering of Hyennas looking to starve you of career growth.


Once, i had held the prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri in high regards that i told myself i was surely going to befriend this Educational facility sonner or later.

And, true to my words i engaged in the most confusing, demoralizing and laidback journey of my career. The saying "who no go, no know" is just a perfect definition of the fallacy sold to me by colleagues, and friends whose actual intentions for me is uncertain as i begin to question their loyalty.

Here i am, after three - four years undergoing a program that was supposedly allowed to last for a period of 18 months for the award of M.Eng still without the end of it in sight with all faults on the Institution and its Management.

So many lapses in the system that no office is left out.

The Post Graduate School which was created to carter for the needs of her students is no where to near it.
The Senate body of the School that is meant to serve as a wake up call to erring offices and faculties are so nonchalant about the welfare of her Post graduate students.
What of the Department (Petroleum Engineering) itself?, nah! This houses the major share of the blame and acts as the catalyst for frustation of her Post graduate students..
