IslamBenefits Of Surah Al-khaf by MuslimHowto(op): 11:44am On Apr 25, 2019
There are many ahadeeth that enumerate the blessings of this surah in its entirety and regarding the first or last ten ayat.

It is named Suratul Kahf because of the miraculous divine story in it, the wondrous, strange story of the Companions of the Cave.
Below are numerous authentic narrations of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that emphasize on the benefits of Surah Al-Khaf.

1. Narrated by Abu Darda' (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, " One who memorized the first ten verses of Surat Al-Kahf will be secure against the Dajjal (Anti-Christ) . Another version says: "One who commits to his memory the last 10 verses of this surah will remain immune from the Dajjal.

[Sahih Muslim]

2. Narrated by Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that A man recited Surat al-Kahf (in his prayer) and in the house there was a (riding) animal which got frightened and started jumping. The man finished his prayer with Taslim, but behold! A mist or a cloud hovered over him. He informed the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) of that and the Messenger of Allaah (Pbuh) said, "O so-and-so! Recite, for this (mist or cloud) was a sign of peace descending for the recitation of Qur'an."

[Sahih Bukhari]

3. Narrated by Abu Darda' (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Whoever reads 3 ayat from the beginning of Surat Al-Kahf is protected or immune from the fitnah of the Dajjal. In another version it says 10 ayat from the beginning of it or 10 ayat from the end of it.

[At-Tirmidhi]

4. Narrated by Ibn Omar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever reads Surat Al-Kahf on yaumul Jumuah, for him light would shine from beneath his foot to clouds in the Sky, shining for him on the Day of Judgement and he will be forgiven for what occurs between the two Fridays (minor sins).

[At Targheeb]

5. Narrated by Abu Saeed Al Khudari (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever reads Surat Al-Kahf has a light for him from "maqaamahu" his place (where he is standing) to Makkah; and whoever reads 10 ayat from the end of it (the last 10 ayat) then the Dajjal comes out, he will not be harmed by him.

(Abu Dawud)

Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "On every Friday the angels take their stand at every gate of the mosque to write the names of the people chronologically (i.e. according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer) and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon."

(Sahih Bukhari)

Narrated by Ibn Mas'ud (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed some people staying away from al-Jumu'ah (Friday midday sermon and prayer) and said: "I had the notion to order someone to lead the people in prayer, and then to go and burn the houses of those who stayed away from al-Jumu'ah!"

(Ahmad and Muslim)

Narrated by Abu al-Ja'd ad-Damari (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever misses three Jumu'ah prayers in a row out of negligence will have a seal put over his heart by Allaah."

Islam14 Most Common Mistakes During Salaah And How To Correct Them by MuslimHowto(op): 3:17pm On Feb 21, 2019
There are common errors or mistakes Muslim make when performing salaah. Many Muslim neglects these errors due to their insufficient knowledge about perfecting their prayer, and without furthering to know whether they are doing it according to the Sunnah.

Salaah is the second of the five pillars of Islam after accepting the Oneness of Allah, and it is the most important one. Allah (SWT) made it fard (obligatory) on every Muslims. Salaah will be the first to be questioned on the Day of Judgment.

And be constant in prayer, and spend in charity, and bow down in prayer with all who thus bow down. (Quran Al-Baqara 2:43)

When you have finished As-Salat (the prayer – congregational), remember Allah standing, sitting down, and lying down on your sides, but when you are free from danger, perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat). Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours. (Quran An-NIsa 4:103)

We at Muslimhowto have compiled 14 most common mistakes in salaah and how to correct them base on authentic sayings of The Prophet (peace be upon him):

1. Prayer of Naafil after the Iqammah Is Being Announced

When you hear the iqammah, it is very important to stop any supererogatory (Naafil) prayers without salaam, and join the row for the prescribed prayer.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) said: the messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “when the iqamah for prayer is said, there is no prayer except the prescribed prayer”.[1]

2. Lifting the Gaze Whilst Praying

Lifting the gaze when praying is prohibited either looking right or left. Look mainly at the point where the forehead is to be placed. This is a sign of lack of concentration in Salaah.

It was narrated that Anas Ibn Maalik (RA) said, the prophet ﷺ said: “what is matter with people who lift their gaze to heaven whilst praying? “And he spoke sternly concerning that, until he said: “they should stop that, or else their eyesight will be snatched away”. [2]

3. Not Raising Hand in the Opening Takbeer

It is obligatory to raise both hands at the beginning of every prayer. Many Muslim fail or forget to do this due rushing to catch up with elapse rak’a with the Imam. Failure to do this will nullify your entire prayer.

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (RA) said: “I saw Allah’s messenger ﷺ opening the prayer with takbeer and raising his hands to the level of his shoulders at the time of saying the takbeer, and on saying the takbir for bowing he did the same”.[3]

4. Hasty Performance of Prayer in Rukoo’ or Sujood

Rukoo' or sujood is an essential part of salat. These positions should be performed accurately by bowing and prostrating in a slow pace. Rushing to perform rukoo or sujood may result in prostrating or bowing in the wrong way.

Abi Qatadda (RA) related that the messenger of Allah ﷺ said: And the worst of thieves is the one who steals his prayer”.
They said; “how does he steals his prayer, messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He replied, “He does not ruku or sajda properly”.[4]

5. Lifting the Foot during Sujood

Improper sujood in salaah is by placing either the left or right foot on each other or sometimes playing with it. One must make sure the tip of the feet is placed on the floor.

Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that the messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I have been commanded to prostrate myself on seven bones: on the forehead” – and then pointed with his hand towards his nose, hands, feet, and the extremities of the feet. [5]

6. Racing With the Imam, or Moving With Him in Congregational Prayer

The Imam is the leader when performing salaah in a congregation. Everyone at his back should follow him. Do not contest with the Imam in prayer. Wait for him to say or do something before doing so.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik (RA) said; “the messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer one day, then turned to face us and said “I am now your Imam, so do no tend to bow or prostrate or stand or leave before I do. I can see you in front of me and behind me”. [6]

7. Proceeding To Mosque for Prayer with Rush

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA) The Prophet ﷺ said, “When you hear the iqama, proceed to offer the prayer with calmness and solemning and do not make haste. And prayer whatever you able to pray and complete whatever you have missed. [7]

8. Waiting for the Imam Until He Stands To Start In Prayer

When you enter the mosque and you find the Imam at any stage of prayer. You do not have to wait for him to return to standing position. All you need to do is, make an opening takbir, then join him in that position.

Abdullah Ibn Mughafal (RA) the messenger for Allah ﷺ said; “whoever founds me in a state of ruku, standing or in sujood let it be with same position which I am in”. [8]

9. Raising the Voice in Dhikr after Salaah (Prayer)

Dhikr is an act in Islam that involves the recitation of prayer (either by moving the tongue or in silently in the heart) to glorify God. Raising one’s voice after salaah can make others who are still praying to lose concentration in their recitation.

Narrated Abu Sa’id al-Khdri (RA) the messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “LO! Every one of you is calling his lord quietly. One should not trouble the other and one should not raise the voice in recitation or in prayer over the voice of the other”. [9]

10. Not Bend Properly In Rukoo

Ibn Umar (RA) reported: “the messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stood up for prayer, used to raise his hands apposite the shoulders and then recited takbir (Allah-o-Akbar), and when he was about to bow he again did like it and when he raised himself from the ruku’ (bowing posture) he again did like it, but he did not do it at the time of raising his head from prostration.” [10]

11. Praying In a Garment That Does not Cover the Shoulders

Any clothing that does not cover the shoulder (armless or singlet) should not be worn when performing salaah.

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA) the prophet ﷺ said: “None of you should offer prayer in single garment that does not cover the shoulder”. [11]

12. Praying In A Place Which There Are Images

Narrated Anas (RA) Aisha had had a thick curtain (having pictures on it) and she screened the side to her: “Remove it from my sight, for its pictures are still coming to my mind in my prayers”. [12]

13. Crossing In Front Of a Praying Person

When you notice someone praying, do not cross in front of the person; rather place a sutra (a long object) in front of the person before crossing.

Abu Juhaim (RA) said: “the messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “ if the one who passes in front of a person who is praying knew (burden of sin) that is on him, standing for forty would be better for him that passes in front him”. [13]

14. Prostrating Like A Dog

Anas Ibn Malik (RA) reported: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: “Be straight in prostration and let none of you put his forearms on the ground like a dog.” [14]

Conclusion

With all the above common mistakes and their corrections, you might have seen the once you often make. Do not feel bad, all you need is istigfar (seeking forgiveness) from Allah; surely Allah is oft-forgiving.

May Allah accept our salaah and good deeds so we will not be among the loser on the Day of Judgement. Aameen.

Allah knows best.

IslamHow To Sleep According To The Sunnah by MuslimHowto(op): 9:21am On Jan 24, 2019
After a long day at work, school or at a conference meeting, our body gets exhausted and needs time to rest in order to restore energy.

Sleeping plays an important role in helping an individual to stay healthy and maintain psychologically balance.

Sleep is undoubtedly a blessing from Allah (swt) as He stated in the Quran about the importance of sleep.

“And among His signs is the sleep that you take by night and by day, and your seeking of His bounty. Verily, in that are indeed signs for people who listen”. – (Suratul Ar-room vs 23)

Deprivation of sleep may cause the body distress that could lead to the following illness:

Psychological problems
Emotional distress; Anxiety and depression
Hypertension
Insomnia.
Sluggishness and other kinds of health-related issues.

Implementing the sleeping culture of the Prophet (peace be upon him) will require an optimal sleeping schedule – and adhering to it no matter what.

Below are the few things Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) does before going to bed:

Dua before going to bed
Dust off the bed
Perform ablution
Read Surah Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas (three times)
Switch off the light
Sleep on the right hand (facing right side)
Supplicate upon waking up

DUA BEFORE GOING TO BED

Supplicating before going to bed is very imperative, according to a popular saying that “sleep is assumed to be a temporary death that could lead to permanent death.”

When the prophet went to bed, he should say: "Bismika amutu wa ahya."
This means “In Your Name, O Allah, I die and I live.”

Uttering the above statement means you’ve to place Allah (swt) as the owner of your life, that you belong to Him and to Him is your final return.

DUSTING OFF BED BEFORE SLEEPING

The bed provides comfort for the body to rest and sleep well. Cleaning and dusting one’s bed would aid good night sleep, and limit amount of small harmful particles that could interrupt one’s sleep.

The Prophet said, "When anyone of you go to bed, he should shake out his bed with the inside of his waist sheet, for he does not know what has come on to it after him, and then he should say: 'Bis-mika Rabbi wada'tu Janbi wa bika arfa'uhu, In amsakta nafsi farhamha wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tahfazu bihi ibadakas-salihin." - Narrated Abu Huraira

The above dua means: “With Your Name my Lord, I lay myself down and with Your Name I rise. And if my soul You take, have mercy on it, and if You send it back then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves.”

PERFORM ABLUTION

An ablution is an obligatory act before every salah.

Being in the state of ablution before going to bed is an act the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performs every night before sleeping. Even though, some may prefer to shower to wash away dirt and stains on the surface of the body.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “when you want to go to bed, perform ablution as you do for prayer”.

Either showering or ablution helps the body to stay cool and refresh, but following the Sunnah of performing ablution will purify your body spiritually, and also earn you reward rather than just washing the whole body.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, washing your face before bed helps reduce breakouts, improves your moisturizer's efficacy, helps prevents wrinkles and lessens your chance of eye infections.

RECITE THE LAST THREE SURAH OF THE QURAN

It's sunnah of the prophet to recite the last three chapters of the Quran (Surat-al-Ikhlas, Surat-al-Falaq, and Suratan-Nas) three times before sleeping – blowing on his palms after reciting them and rub his palms all over his face and body.

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Apostle went to bed, he used to recite Surat-al-Ikhlas, Surat-al-Falaq and Suratan-Nas and then blow on his palms and pass them over his face and those parts of his body that his hands could reach. And when he fell ill, he used to order me to do like that for him. (Volume 7, Book 71, Number 644).

SWITCH OFF THE LIGHT

Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) is reported to encourage Muslims to put off lamps, shut the doors and cover food and drink containers.

Narrated Jabir: Allah's Apostle said, "Extinguish the lamps when you go to bed; close your doors; tie the mouths of your water skins, and cover the food and drinks." (Volume 7, Book 69, Number 528)

Sleeping with light off may be difficult for some people, whether they have a health issue or personal phobia which may tamper with their sleep – then, it’s not necessary for them to switch off the light.

Sleep researchers have found that maintaining darkness during sleep would boost the rhythm of one’s sleep, and also send a signal to the body that it’s time to rest.

SLEEP ON RIGHT SIDE

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has recommended every Muslim to sleep on their right side, by placing their right cheek on right hand.

According to an authentic narration by Hudhayfah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said, “When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to bed at night, he would put his hand under his cheek…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6314).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “When you go to bed, do wudoo’ as if for prayer, then lie down on your right side…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-Wudoo’, 239).

Even though sleeping on your stomach can stop snoring, health practitioners have described it worst position to sleep.

SUPPLICATE UPON WAKING UP

When the Prophet (peace be upon him) woke up from sleep, he’ll make dua (supplication) to glorify Allah for waking him up to see another day.

Then when he woke up he would say, ‘Al-hamdu Lillaah alladhi ahyaanaa ba’da ma amaatanaa wa ilayhi al-nushoor (Praise be to Allaah who has brought us back to life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection).’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6314).

Additional

HAVING NIGHTMARE

Dream or nightmare is an involuntary and uncontrollable imaginary event that occurs while sleeping. When you have a bad or frightening dream, it’s Sunnah to do the following acts:

Spit to your left (three times)
Seek refuge in Allah from the devil and the evil of what you have seen
Perform salaah if you’re able to.

SLEEPING BEFORE NIGHT PRAYER

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) urges Muslim not sleep before the night prayer most especially the Isha prayer. He also encourages Muslims to avoid any activity after the night prayer.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “One should not sleep before the night prayer, nor have discussions after it”.

CONCLUSION

Sleeping according to Sunnah by following Muhammad (peace be upon him) guidelines will bring you great health benefits as well as reward in this world and the after.

Allah says in the glorious Quran: “He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allaah . . .” [al-Nisaa’ 4:80]

May Allah grant us good health. Ameen.

There is a difference between learning computer programming and being computer literate. Being a computer literate opens you to a variety of field on the computer. e.g. Graphic designing, type-setting, e.t.c.

Does that mean anybody who doesn't know computer programming is a computer illiterate?

A lot of Muslims are active on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Google, Twitter, Snapchat, Whatsapp, and many more.

Most do not know how this social media applications or websites are created talkless of how they generate billions of dollars yearly.

It is clear that we are in the era of science and technology, Muslims should not be left out to participate in making the world a better place, through creating productive and extensive apps that will positively impact the lives of their fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.

What is Computer Programming or coding?

Computer Programming is a creative process of writing useful code for the computer to perform a meaningful, maintainable and extensive task.

These codes are written in a computer language that runs through a compiler that enables the computer to understand for easy interpretation to produce meaningful output.

There are various programming languages that are specialized in performing different tasks for a computer.

Below are some of the most common computer languages:

HTML & CSS
JavaScript
C++
Ruby
Python
C
PHP
SQL
ASP .NET and many more.

Why Muslims should learn programming or coding?

Today, almost everything is run by computer.

They’re made possible by use of computer programming to bring flexibility into our day to day activities.

Imagine our life without a computer; it will be hard to communicate, receive and send information all around the globe by pressing just a button.

Below are the key reasons why Muslims should learn computer programming or coding:

DAWAH

Dawah means inviting or preaching of Islam. There are various medium Muslim could use to spread the teaching of Islam through computer programming – particularly the social media platforms (such as facebook, twitter, Instagram).

Spreading the teaching of Islam is quite easy and effective on social media just by creating engaging contents (posts or videos) online that reaches people from different demographics. These contents may be videos of notable scholar, Quranic verses, and sayings of The Prophet.

You can make mobile (android) application, websites, and desktop programs. That will serve mainly for dawah (just like Muslim Pro, Muslim Central, Hadith app, zakat calculator, iQuran, e.t.c), where Muslims from diverse origin come together to seek for guidance and help themselves grow intact in faith and righteousness.

Let there arise among you a group inviting to all that is good, enjoining righteousness and forbidding evil. Those are the successful ones. – (Quran 3 verse 110)

According to the above verse, it means you’re creating a cycle of bringing Muslims together to learn about Islam, and doing this will earn you immense and uncountable rewards in this life and the hereafter (day of resurrection).

WORK FROM ANYWHERE

The interesting part of being a programmer is that you can work from anywhere (be it at home, coffee bar, restaurant, on the beach, and so on) or as a freelance by having just your laptop and internet connection - because almost everything you’ll need is computer base.

It gives you the chance to create your zone and make you feel independent to do whatever you wish at your own convenient time.

You’ll enjoy the free will to go to the masjid (mosque) to offer salaah at the prescribed time without any boss intimidating or questioning your religious belief.

HIGH JOB OPPORTUNITY

The need to fill a role of a computer programmer in organizations is increasing in developed, developing and underdeveloped countries.

Their skills are needed in almost every sector, from financing, architecture, construction, manufacturing, health, e.t.c.

To be a certified computer programmer you must have a BSc degree in computer science or any science related course such as Mathematics.

Though, possessing an adequate experience in computer programming without a science degree or no degree can still land you a well-paid job base on your deep knowledge in the field.

BUOYANT SALARY STRUCTURE

According to payscale.com below is the annual salaries earn by computer programmers/software engineer/ developer by nationality:

• U.S. $80,825
• Saudi Arabia – $25,585.92
• Indonesia – Rp 68,400,000
• Turkey - $72,921
Malaysia - $8,567.50
• India – $6,310.59
• Nigeria - $5,050

MAKE YOU A BILLIONAIRE

Don’t be fooled by the “B” word. Not all programmers are billionaires.

IslamHow To Date As A Muslim by MuslimHowto(op):
As the world is taking the boyfriend and girlfriend things as norms, many Muslims brothers and sisters get confused on how they too can join the bandwagon without going against the ruling of Islam.

Admiring someone is not a sin when you find someone you like and you realize sudden feelings (affections) towards him/her.

This is part of a human to develop emotion for things they admire. Don’t feel guilty, because you’re just being human.

A lot of Muslim wants to know if they can have a boyfriend or girlfriend, but they do not know which step to take, and also what guidelines do Islam recommended (advised) them to follow.

What did Islam say about dating?

Islam doesn’t emphasize on dating in particular, but it has encompassed (cover) on all issues pertaining to modesty and avoidance of sexual explicitness.

They’re various verses in the Quran that prohibit believing Muslims to disassociate themselves from improper and immodest affairs.

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty.” (Quran al-Nur 24:31)

Is dating Halal or Haram?

Before any couple gets married or engaged, they have to spend time together to know whether they are compatible or have feelings for each other.

This little period of time together gives them the insight on why they should go ahead with their relationship which could probably lead to marriage.

You can’t just conclude on marrying a person whom you don’t know much about and end up parting ways within a couple of months after marriage.
Below are what can make your dating haram or halal:

Haram Date

Practicing an unlawful romance is basically a waste of time, which can lead to loss of dignity and self-esteem when the relationship eventually kicks the rock.

Haram relationship has risen sporadically today that seems mandatory for every adult or teenager to have boyfriend or girlfriend. And not having one will make people think you’re archaic or outdated.

Islam prohibits the practical act of having an affair with someone who you haven’t been engaged or married to. And there is an extreme punishment for those who fail to guide their private part and indulge in haram courtship.

Allah stated in the Quran that: “Who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hand possess, - for (in their case) they are free from blame: But those whose desire exceed those limits are transgressors.” (Quran 23:5-7)

If you claim to be dating, and you choose to indulge in these following acts, then your dating is typically haram.:

Hiding consent of both parents from your relationship
Explicit gaze at each other
Calling yourselves husband and wife before nikkah
Premarital sex
Touching or kissing
Being alone or going out together
Night call and chatting

Halal Date

In Islam when you love someone or something, it must be for the sake of Allah. Islam encourages every Muslims to have a good relationship and be kind to all people, be it males or females.

Every Muslim should abstain from choosing opposite sex as close friends, and avoid being alone together because shaytan makes uses of this moment to whisper to the mind of both, which can lead to having illicit acts.

“Whenever two strangers of the opposite gender are alone with each other, Satan becomes the third one between them.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Many may argue that there is no such thing as halal date, but they’re ways we can make our date permissible without transgressing and opposing the sunnah.

“…Wed them with the permission of their own folk and give them their mahr (dowry) according to what is reasonable, they should chaste, not adulterous, nor taking boyfriends…” (Al-Nisaa’ 4:25)

Below are the factors that make your dating is halal and permissible:

Seek consent from both your parents
Both paying visit to each other at parents house
Both of them must be accompanied when going out
Get engaged
Nikkah

CONCLUSION

Dear brothers and sisters stay away from haram date, just because your friends or anyone close to you have a girlfriend don’t make it obligatory on you to have one also.

Be steadfast in obeying Allah’s command. He has made it unlawful for you and every other Muslims.

When the time comes Allah is going to bless you with a pious wife which is better than having a girlfriend which can be the path to earn the wrath of Allah.
