New update on the phone...

I plug it overnight at work and when I came this morning, I try booting to recovery mode.
Which I was able to, after 3 days of trying. I wiped the cache and also formatted the phone and lo and behold, it's worked fine for some time.
Now, the issue I noticed the past 5mins is that it displays a black screen after some time all I would be able to see it the back arrow.
If I press the power button it will display the icons of the power button. If I reboot the phone it will work fine again

I downloaded ROM for UMIDIGI_A5pro_V1.6_20191227, I guess it's the same build number as your's?

Download the inceptional rom. The first rom for A5pro coming from experience.

tecno has started the struggle for a very long time and it'd be difficult for any brand to overtake just like that

Yes, I used Sp flash tool with the ROM from Umidigi Official page.

Now it's acting funny, like sometimes it will turn on, bring out the Umidigi logo, display some random colours and go off again.

Try reflashing it again. Look for those Tecno cord. I prefer that cord because of his capabilities.

More so, I hope the rom is not corrupted or some files missing.. use this app to verify if the rom you download is not corrupt.
