Sports / Crystal Palace Make Transfer Enquiry For Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor by mustydeen(m): 7:33am On Jun 02, 2015
Emmanuel Adebayor is not in Tottenham Hotspur's plans for the future, which is about as obvious a statement as saying “Leo Messi is pretty good at football. grin

The Togo striker, who ended Tottenham’s season on compassionate leave from the club after a series of provocative Facebook posts about his family, has been on the fringes of Spurs’ side for the majority of the season. Now, according to the Mail, it appears as though he could be on Alan Pardew’s radar as a transfer target to Crystal Palace this summer.

Adebayor is not a terrible striker. He’s just not not good enough for a club that hopes to challenge for top four next season embarassed. However, he’s plenty good enough to contribute a solid number of goals for a mid-to-lower table club, so it’s no surprise that he’s now being linked to clubs like Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

However, as is always the case when you start talking about Emmanuel Adebayor and transfers, the problem comes not in the transfer fee, but in Ade’s weekly wages. Based on what little information I can gather, Crystal Palace’s current highest wage earner isMarouane Chamakh at £50k/week – not huge, but still a substantial increase over last season when Palace’s top earner was Dwight Gayle at £18k/wk. Adebayor’s wages are thought to hover around £120k/week shocked.

So there are a couple of possibilities here. Either Crystal Palace (or another club):

Convince Ade to take a huge (HUGE) pay cut in the twilight of his career,
Bite the bullet and pay equivalent wages to what he’s earning now, or
Work out a deal with Daniel Levy such that Spurs will subsidize a sizable percentage of Ade’s wages for a period of time.
I don’t know about you, gentle readers, but I’m not real high on any of those three happening. Of all of those options, the one that seems the most feasible is option 3, but you’d have to think that Levy would agree to this only as a last resort, and probably as a last minute deadline day deal.

However, even if Spurs would pay, say, £40-50k of Ade’s salary until his Spurs contract would expire, that’s still cheaper than paying the full £120k for a player who likely wouldn’t play much, if at all.

So is this a #batcountry rumor? Well, yes and no. No in the sense that’s plausible that a number of clubs will probably take a look at Adebayor this summer, but yes in the sense that very few of these clubs will be able to afford his wages unless he caves. Expect to see a few more rumors like this in the days leading up to the transfer window

Sports / Ionel Messi Says The Current Barcelona Attack Is The Best Ever by mustydeen(m): 6:58am On Jun 02, 2015
Lionel Messi has played alongside the likes of Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o during his Barcelona career but says the current strikeforce is the most deadly he has ever been part of.

Barca’s attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have scored an incredible 120 goals between them in all competitions this season, surpassing the goalscoring feats of the 2008-09 side.

On their way to winning the treble that season, Barcelona’s forward line of Messi, Samuel Eto’o and Thierry Henry found the target 100 times, but the current triumvirate have blown their achievements out of the water.

And they still have the opportunity to add to their record before the season is over. Barcelona are again on the verge of a domestic and European treble.

Having added the Copa del Rey to their La Liga success last Saturday, Luis Enrique’s side face Juventus in the Champions League final this weekend and Messi believes his partners in crime are at the top of their game.

Crime / Robbers Kill Catholic Priest, Brother In Ondo; Southwest Nigeria by mustydeen(m): 6:51am On Jun 02, 2015
A gang of armed robbers killed a Catholic Priest, identified as Reverend Father Onyeka, and his younger brother, Obi Onyeka, while travelling on the Owo-Oba-Akoko Road, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Sunday.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo, who disclosed this to The PUNCH on Monday, said the robbers were operating on the road when the victims ran into them.

He explained that the victims were travelling in Toyota Highlander when the robbers came out of the bush and opened fire on their vehicle.

The Police spokesman added that the robbers shot at the petrol tank of the ill-fated vehicle while the driver was trying to escape with vehicle.

He stated that the vehicle burst into flame, burning the occupants, saying the driver sustained injuries and receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Ogodo, however, said the men of the command were on the trail of the bandits while investigation was ongoing.

He assured the travellers of adequate safety on the highways in the state.

The PPRO said, “On getting the information of the incident, our patrol team quickly went to the scene to rescue the surviving driver and deposit the corpses of the deceased in a mortuary.”

It was gathered that the deceased were travelling from Lagos to ‎Ugbe-Akoko in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State on the fateful day to meet with members of their family, who reside in the town.

Politics / Un Warns Of Mass Starvation In South Sudan by mustydeen(m): 5:28am On May 31, 2015
UN officials warn that 4.6 million people in South Sudan could face starvation over the next 3 months.

The country became independent from Sudan in 2011 after more than 2 decades of civil war. But fierce fighting between government troops and rebel forces has continued since 2013.

Many people fled their homes, leaving behind farmland, livestock, and food supplies. The deteriorating security situation has also forced aid groups to suspend their activities.

The UN World Food Program is warning that about 4.6 million people, or roughly 40 percent of the country’s population, will face a severe food shortage if the situation does not improve.

UNICEF says the lives of nearly a quarter of a million children in South Sudan are at risk.

Officials say increased funding is required to provide emergency food aid. They are appealing for international support.

Politics / Deadly Bombing At Un Compound In South Sudan by mustydeen(m): 11:58am On May 21, 2015
Four civilians were killed on Tuesday when two mortar bombs exploded inside a UN compound in the town of Melut in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state, as rebel forces and government troops battled for control of a strategic oil hub.

Eight more people were injured in the blast on Tuesday evening, the U.N. mission in South Sudan said in a statement, adding that it is “deeply concerned by the disregard for civilian lives, U.N. personnel and facilities.”

Fighting has recently intensified in South Sudan’s Upper Nile and Unity states as government troops and rebel forces fight for control of territory. At stake are the Upper Nile oil fields of Paloch, which the rebels said they were poised to seize on Wednesday. As the country’s last remaining functional oil fields, they are crucial for South Sudan’s increasingly vulnerable economy.

“It’s just a matter of hours” before Paloch falls, said Col. Tony Ngundeng, a spokesman for rebels loyal to Riek Machar, the former deputy president whose dismissal in July 2013 sparked political unrest that later boiled over into a full-blown rebellion.

The rebels’ claims were immediately dismissed by South Sudanese military spokesman Col. Philip Aguer, who told The Associated Press that the rebels had been repulsed and the oil fields are no longer threatened.

The deputy spokesman for the U.N. secretary-general, Farhan Haq, told reporters Wednesday that the Security Council is considering “further steps” against those obstructing South Sudan’s peace process.

Haq said the leaders of South Sudan’s warring parties “haven’t acted in good faith for quite some time.”

The United States condemned the attack and called for an end to the fighting and a return to peace talks.

“The international community is footing the bill for President Salva Kiir’s and opposition leader Riek Machar’s shameful disregard for the devastating humanitarian crisis facing the people of South Sudan,” the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Samantha Power, said in a statement Wednesday night.

Power warned that what’s needed is “an increase in international pressure on the South Sudanese parties so that they accept and implement a credible peace agreement.” She said the U.S. would continue working with the recently created U.N. sanctions committee on South Sudan to gather evidence for possible sanctions listings.

Amid the fighting, aid groups have pulled out of hotspots, leaving thousands of people in need.

Both sides in the conflict have been accused of carrying out rights abuses such as deliberately targeting children since the start of fighting in December 2013. Peace talks since then have repeatedly collapsed.

Sports / Dangote Eyes Arsenal Takeover by mustydeen(m): 7:23am On May 06, 2015
Nigerian billionaire and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote says he still wants to buy Arsenal despite failing in a 2010 bid to acquire a stake in the club.
According to Bloomberg.com, the passionate Gunners fan has not given up on his dream of getting involved with the north London club.

Dangote told Bloomberg: “I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team.

“I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy,” Dangote stated.

“We have $16 billion-worth of investments in the next few years,” he said. “Right now I want to take my own business to a certain level. Once I finish on that trajectory, then maybe” an offer will follow.

Arsenal is currently valued at £988m ($1.49 billon) on the ICAP Securities & Derivatives Exchange.

Dangote is worth $15.7 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Politics / U.n. Convoy Attacked In Congo By Rebels, Killing 2 Peacekeepers by mustydeen(m): 6:41am On May 06, 2015
Suspected rebels ambushed a U.N. convoy in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday, killing two peacekeepers and wounding 13 others.
Four more peacekeepers are missing after the attack in Beni, the United Nations said in a news release. The peacekeepers killed were from Tanzania, it said.

A day earlier, a U.N. helicopter carrying the mission’s commander came under fire from unknown gunmen. It landed safely.

“The U.N. remains committed to taking all necessary actions … to protect civilians and neutralize armed groups in eastern DRC,” the world body said in a statement after the ambush.

A U.N. team is on the ground supporting the local army as it battles Ugandan rebels in the restive eastern Congo. Beni is in the northeastern part of the vast country, not far from the border with Uganda.

The Uganda-based Allied Democratic Forces has attacked villages in eastern Congo and killed residents in recent months, according to the United Nations.

Eastern Congo is still trying to get back on its feet after a conflict left millions dead from 1998 to 2003.

As a result of the instability, armed militants run amok in the region, which is rich in gold and diamonds.

Celebrities / I Met Muammar Gaddafi, Whitney Houston In Hell – Sierra Leone Woman by mustydeen(m): 12:19pm On May 03, 2015
Yahya Jammeh has taken a 21-year-old diplomat’s daughter as a second wife, following months of speculation 28-year-old Sierra Leone woman has come out to claim that she died and went to hell, where she saw former Libya’s president Muammar Gaddafi. She says she was later taken to heaven too,Sister Linda Ngaoja’s heavenly journey a few weeks ago has turned her into the equivalent of a movie star, risking destabilising a country renowned for its religious tolerance.

While in hell, the college student reveals that Muammar Gaddafi told her he wanted the mosque he built in Sierra Leone be destroyed and get replaced with a church. undecided

;DShe claims to have a message from late president of Guinea, Lansana Conte, to have all the mosques in his country brought down and be replaced with churches.

Linda died after a short illness. She claims because of her worldly crimes in her previous life, she suffered a traumatic experience in hell, where she met her parents and a host of other renowned people including the late US star Whitney Houston, “who are all suffering in Hell.”

All of these people had messages for their relatives and friends who are alive.

Linda further says if a “rapture” had occurred at that moment only five people in Sierra Leone could have gone to heaven; her three pastors and two other people. embarassed

Linda recorded all these claims via audio gadgets, and her audio tapes are making rounds in Sierra Leone. However, religious leaders are left with a difficult task of cleaning the mess due to Linda’s revelations upon her wake.

According to her revelations, all Catholics and Muslims are going to hell.

Sierra Leone’s Bishop Cole has expressed his worries arising from the revelations saying, “We consider such statements to be inflammatory among the Christian and Muslim communities.”

Politics / Several Hundred Yazidi Captives Have Been Executed In Iraq By Islamic State (IS) by mustydeen(m): 5:50am On May 03, 2015
A statement from the Yazidi Progress Party said 300 captives were killed on Friday in the Tal Afar district near the city.

Iraqi Vice-President Osama al-Nujaifi described the reported deaths as “horrific and barbaric”.

Thousands of members of the religious minority group were captured last year.

It is not clear how they were killed, or why this has happened now, says the BBC’s Middle East editor Alan Johnston.

Many are reported to have been held in Mosul, the main stronghold of IS after the militants swept through large areas of northern and western Iraq, and eastern Syria in 2014.

Yazidis, whose religion includes elements of several faiths, are considered infidels by

Thousands fled to the Kurdish-controlled region of northern Iraq after IS captured the Yazidi-populated Sinjar district in Nineveh province.

Hundreds of men were killed, while some Yazidi women were held and used as sex slaves.

In other developments on Saturday:

a car bomb exploded near a popular restaurant in Baghdad’s predominantly Shia Karrada district, killing at least 13 people
at least six Iraqi soldiers died in a suicide car bomb attack in the town of Garma in western Anbar province
IS pushed back
The Yazidi Progress Party’s statement, quoted by the Kurdish Shafaq News website, condemned the latest incident as a “heinous crime” and called on Iraqi forces to free those still held by IS.

In January, IS released some 200 mainly elderly Yazidis into the hands of Kurdish officials near the city of Kirkuk.

Many of them, held in Mosul, had disabilities or were wounded, though no reason was given by IS for their release.

In recent months, IS has been pushed back from some of the areas it captured, though many Yazidi villages are thought to remain under the militants’ control.

In December, Kurdish Peshmerga forces drove back IS militants in north-western Iraq, relieving a long siege of Sinjar mountain where thousands of Yazidis had sought refuge.

The Iraqi government, with forces backed by Iran, also declared it had taken back control of the city of Tikrit in April.

I found myself in this situation when I was in school and came out 2:1. Been a catholic I prayed my rosary everyday, offering it for that intention then I studied more. In my final exam I had 5 A's and 1 C while I already had 4.0 in my first semester final year. When I got my result, it was a2:1.

3. My effort. To God be all the glory.
So, you can.

Like seriously **
Would like to know the school u graduated from. And you graduated with a 2'1? Are your for real
*good lord, another half baked graduate*

If at all you want to do a close approximation, the maths would rather have been

3.09+3.09+3.09 (for the three sessions he's done already) + 5(that is if he gets a 5.0)= 14.27

Then divide the value by 4 sessions

14.27/4 = 3.5675

For error due to variation in units per session, I wuld put the value at 3.5675 +/- 0.05

NB. On a planer note, this OP can't in anyway graduate with a 2'1. He does not even know how to calculate his CGPA, how on earth do we expect him to finish with a 2'1

Of course, he would b like this guy 1 quoted.
