4. Use of wrong engine oil.

The use of wrong engine oil, especially weightier oil not designed for your car increases your fuel consumption. Some people think the thicker the oil, the better. No it is the more fuel it consumes. Using recommended oil ensures your car performs at the right fuel efficiency. Low oil or late oil changes can also increase fuel consumption, as there is not enough oil for lubrication.

3. A bad MAF sensor:

A faulty Mass Air Fuel sensor can cause high fuel consumption. Its function is to determine the mass flow rate of air entering the combustion chamber and this information is relayed to the ECU, which now regulates the right amount of fuel for combustion. In an event the sensor is bad, the air is unmetered. You will also start noticing black smoke from your exhaust

2. Dirty or clogged air filter.

The most ignored of routine maintenance is the change of air filters. You should change your air filter after every two oil changes. A clogged air filter can increase fuel consumption as the vehicle will not have enough air for combustion.

Car Talk / 15 Causes Of High Fuel Consumption In Cars. by mustydeen(m): 5:01pm On Jun 11, 2019
Fuel consumption is a normal phenomenon with internal combustion engines in cars because they burn fuel to get the energy to propel a vehicle. However, fuel consumption becomes a concern when you realise that a car is consuming more than it is supposed to.Excessive fuel consumption can be caused by a number of different things. So, There are a lot of problems that can lead to excessive fuel consumption, some of them are serious and some can be easily corrected.

Here is a list of them

1. Malfunctioning engine.

A malfunctioning engine can increase your fuel consumption considerably, most times this are noticeable when your car jerks, or missfires. This is often as a result of foul spark plugs, clogged fuel injectors, bad ignition coils or plug leads(coil wires). Tuning up your engine will resolve this problem on such occasions.

Oga sir, If he had not specified the car.. You might have been right.. But for an EOD, ECT can only be Engine coolant temp sensor 1 or 2.. No EOD has electronically controlled transmission code... That term is used in Toyota's I think..

Ok, oga ma.

You are right, can you move on

thebigkendo:

The only ECT on that accord is Engine coolant temperature sensor 1 or 2

The point is, he needs to get a competent tech to fix that problem. And ECT could translate either of those.

Then also, he probably just scanned the engine to have got just an engine coolant temperature code.

So oga demeanor, do you need any further tory undecided

done that sir, only got an ECT sensor code

There is ECT: electronically controlled transmission

ECT: Engine coolant temperature.

A scan through the engine system will only reveal engine fault, same with abs, and transmissions.

For your Accord. You do need a mechanic to run this checks for you. So you do not blind fixes.

This is a Input shaft/speed sensor.

car gurus, I noticed that in my Honda accord EOD 05 model, the speedometer moves erratically, the gearbox when in motion changes roughly, both on high speed and low speed, I diagnosed it, but got no codes, I feel it's the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) that's the culprit, my problem here is locating the speed sensor, but, wetin I know, car gurus in the house, kindly show me d location of d speed sensors, and if you have other solutions to this issue, I will be happy if you can tell me.

Your EOD has a vehicle speed sensor, most times located on the transmission. A live data of vehicle speed, wheel speed sensors (abs), and vehicle speed sensors(also called input speed sensor) should reveal the culprit.

What could cause gear oil to be vomitting? Happened when I was driving from east to Lagos.

Note: Gear oil was not recently filled.

Scan the transmission.

A bypass of the AT cooler can cause this . I have had. instances of no bypass, and transmission still heats up. And only happens when you do long trips. Most times it is AT temperature sensor high input.

The temperature sensor most times loose connections. Refit back, Change fluid and strainer.

This is common in Camry's, es350's.

Most importantly, Scan the AT, and see which code comes up.

Please i still need help with my AC.

it still works at random. and works just fine when it works

When it stops working apparently the diagnosis is: the compressor is not getting power, but the relay and fuses are ok.

Went to change the AC switch panel on the dash and the guy was honest enough to tell me he didn't think there's anything wrong with the one i have there at the moment

he then removed the relay and stuck a wire into the slots, and the compressor starts. he said the Relay is fine which is really confusing......

also watched another stick a long screwdriver down to push the AC Clutch and it started. that one said the AC clutch needs to be 'serviced' whatever that means. Doesn't add up for me because like i said the system does work fine when it works.....

I just need to know precisely what needs to be fixed. Thus far no one seems to be sure. Haven't let anyone touch anything though. Not a big fan of guesswork.

Please help, who has an idea why this is....... mosbus gazzuzz radautoworks autologic

This na my first car deal so all info is welcomed

If this is your first car deal, and you will like to stay business. Follow this rules.

1. Never buy, or try to sell a manual tyranny.

2. Do not buy or try to sell a converted car. There are too many left hand drives, than to get a right, convert, then try to sell. Even our ancestors do not like them.

3. Referrals is key in any business. Terrible people want to do business with honest people. As much as possible, be straight forward.

4. Learn how to verify if a vehicle is a good buy and not a lemon. Your customers will rely on your wealth of knowledge about cars to trust you to get the best deals for them.

5. Never assume a prospective client will have the common sense to settle you. Ehn, my oga, I will settle you. No. State your fees.

6. It is assumed that there is so much money in car business, if you don't know anything about it, just stick to your thriving line of work.

7. Do not be greedy, do not insist on making a million profit on a car. Plus and minus, 100k, 50k, 20k came out. As long as you are not selling at a loss. Sell that thing mehn.

8. Cars sold do not end at the point you collect money o. If you sell a lemon, and you think you don chop money. Someone knows someone in a lawless country. Theres nothing like due process. They will run you down.

9. E get other things, I will add more

Hmmm, this is getting scary.
On a Friday morning I drove to the mechanic workshop to have the shaft replaced due to its noise. Got there at 8am and waited for him to resume. Car was parked there.
At about 10am, shaft was removed, we went to the market in Benin to get same type, but we didn’t find it. They said it can only be gotten in Lagos. The seller in the market mentioned this same “myth” you mentioned about if it wasn’t immediately the shaft was removed, I said no that it was like after an hour (he said the myth was common with Venza anyway).
I went back with the mechanic to his workshop and fixed the original shaft that was removed and I went home with the car (Friday afternoon).
On Saturday I called him to come home to remove the shaft so someone going to Lagos could help get another without mistakes since he is going with a sample (the original). The mech came Saturday “evening” to do it.
It took 6 days before the replacement part arrived (the next Friday). On Saturday, it was fixed.
That’s what happened before the quote below.

Oga Kashif, come put mouth for this matter.

Yes sir, just the shaft was replaced.
All forward gears move.
4 cylinders.

Yesterday I changed the ATF, the transmission filter and the magnet was washed. Reverse engages sometimes now, sometimes it won’t, then I try changing gears till reverse works.

Now if I put it on Drive, it takes about 4 seconds before it moves. This was after the oil service yesterday.

Why did you change the shaft.

And which transmission fluid was used for the change?

Armored Cars thrive in this country because of our politicians
I wonder too when some people ask me how I identify Armored vehicles on the road. In addition, you may not really be able to identify armored vehicles with the features the OP listed depending on the armor integrity of such vehicle.

It has always been a great experience for me driving armored vehicles, there is luxury, comfort, security and many more in it. I currently drive B8 armored integrity vehicles, Suburban, LX570 just to mention a few but I've come to realize there's really no point riding in armored vehicles if you don't have additional security escorts because all the security components of these vehicles can be compromised.

Ask me how, it takes someone who knows their principles of operation to compromise them easily, though they are been improved on daily with additional security measures but in a case when you are been pursued or trying to escape attack (assassination or kidnap) Evasive and Defensive driving isn't that effective without additional escorts to shake off trails off you. No matter how strong an armored vehicle is, there a limit of ammunition and bombardment it can withstand.

Here is a simple trick to know if you have a burnt top gasket.

Park the vehicle overnight.

The next day

Fill raditor to the brim, and leave open

Tell someone to help you start the car.

if radiator spills water, like as much as an inch in fountain formed in the process. you have a burnt gasket.

if there is no evident spillage. Your gasket is intact.
