Google Inc. on Monday launched its new Android One program in India, which offers its Android operating system on low-cost smartphones, in partnership with local smartphone manufacturers. The new Android One-powered smartphones, which are priced at around 6,399 rupees ($105), are manufactured by Indian mobile phone makers, such as Micromax, Karbonn and Spice Mobiles. The latest move by Google is being viewed by many as the company’s attempt to corner the lower end of the world's fastest growing smartphone market, Reuters reported. In India, where the smartphone market reportedly doubled to 44 million units in 2013 and has already touched 36 million devices in the first half of 2014, Google is expected to face challenges from companies including Motorola and China's Xiaomi, both of which offer affordable smartphones such as the Moto E at 6,999 rupees ($114.6) and the Red Mi 1S at 5,999 rupees ($98), respectively. “It will be interesting to watch if they are able to maintain that (6,000 rupees) price band or whether it will go to (7,000 rupees to 7,500 rupees) since Google is also specifying the hardware,” Karan Thakkar, senior market analyst at IDC, told Economic Times, a local business newspaper. According to reports, the new Android One handsets are expected to offer features such as 5-megapixel cameras, quad-core processors, 1 GB RAM, screens measuring 4.3 inches to 4.5 inches, Android KitKat 4.4.4, a 1700-mAh battery, dual SIM capability and SD card slots to expand memory capacity. Announced by Sundar Pichai, Google’s head of Android, Chrome web browser and apps, in June, the Android One is a set of competitive specifications that allow manufacturers to produce affordable smartphones with the latest hardware. These low-cost devices will feature the original Android OS and receive updates directly from Google, PC Advisor reported. Fasting may be Muslim a tradition that’s 1,400 years old, but this Ramadan, many Muslims are employing 21st-century technology to help them gain spiritual enlightenment. That’s thanks to a bevy of new apps and other digital tools designed to help the modern Muslim fulfill his or her daily fasting and prayer obligations. Sequencing the genome of Ebola virus strains circulating in Guinea has allowed scientists at the Institut Pasteur in Dakar and in Paris, the CNRS and the University of Sydney to retrace the spread of the virus and monitor its evolution in the country where the outbreak started. This research reveals the co-circulation in Guinea, particularly in the urban regions of the capital and neighboring towns, of three distinct variants of the virus whose mutations are described in an article published in Nature. Characterization of the genetic variations of the virus is crucial to ensure the continued efficacy of diagnostic tools and for the development of effective treatments and vaccines. The Ebola epidemic has been ongoing in West Africa for over a year, with 27,341 reported cases, of which 11,184 have been fatal. The source of the epidemic has been traced to a forested area in South-East Guinea, from where it rapidly spread to the capital, Conakry, and to neighboring countries. In March 2014, the Institut Pasteur of Dakar set up a mobile laboratory at Donka hospital (Conakry), to provide diagnostic services throughout Guinea. The involvement of volunteers from the Institut Pasteur and its network, in Conakry and other regions of Guinea such as Macenta, was constant during the entire epidemic. Monitoring the development of the Ebola virus genome is key for developing better treatment strategies, designing effective vaccines and ensuring the continued efficacy of diagnostic tools. To this end, scientists at the Institut Pasteur in Dakar and Paris, the CNRS and the University of Sydney contributed to the international efforts to combat the disease by characterizing the Ebola virus isolates circulating in Guinea between July and November 2014. Sequencing of the virus from rare samples containing only small amounts of biological material was optimized in a collaborative effort with scientists from the Broad Institute (Cambridge, USA), who were already deployed in Sierra Leone. Analysis of these sequences reveals the existence of three distinct variants of the virus co-circulating in Guinea, and a very different dynamic than that observed in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The first variant is closely related to viruses sampled at the start of the epidemic in March 2014. This variant is found only in Guinea, both in urban areas (Conakry) and forested regions. The second variant is related to the viruses circulating in Sierra Leone, but could correspond to parallel evolution in Guinea. These sequences represent the missing link that led to two separate introductions of Ebola in Mali, in October and November 2014. The third variant was identified in Conakry and the surrounding towns (Forecariah, Dalaba and Coyah). The marked similarities between this variant and the viruses found in Sierra Leone, combined with epidemiological data, highlight multiple reintroductions of Ebola from Sierra Leone to the region around Conakry. Each variant is defined by a combination of mutations affecting different viral proteins, in particular the VP35 protein, which may be a virulence factor, the virus envelope glycoprotein, which may alter the immune system's perception of the virus, or the polymerase, which is usually a more conserved viral region. While this study highlights the genetic diversity of the viruses circulating in Guinea during the epidemic's spread, it also shows that the mutation rate is well within the margins previously described for this type of virus. Monitoring viral variations is a strong complement to epidemiological studies retracing transmission chains, and will enable better targeting of response strategies in the face of potential new epidemics. Lastly, studies of the Ebola virus genetic variations, which have quickly been made available to the scientific community, will help optimize the treatments and vaccines under development. Hey guys! I want your review on this. Its a known thing that most of we upcoming artistes don't write our LYRICS the standard way, and don't put our song LYRICS online, including myself. Cos many people are like "whats he saying sef?, i just waste my mb to download song wey i no even hear anything". Then they press DELETE at once. Shouldnt we let them know we aint talking rubbish? Its just normal for some people that have talent buh no good voice. So a thought striked my mind cos i own a blog initially ajidaraviews..com where i publish articles about science, health and tech, you can check dat owt. So i thought "why don't i create another blog strictly dedicated to LYRICS of upcoming artistes like myself? Ain't that gonna move us forward?" I thought that if people search our songs too, google should be able to show a particular page where our LYRICS are being stored. We have rights too, its not just for the higher ups. HOW ITS GONNA WORK The blog isnt running yet buh i need you guys to show you care about it so it won't be a waste of effort. Cos like i said earlier, "ITS FREE" @least 4nw Listed below are the procedures i deem fit for the project. Letz know what you feel bou it. 1. Your song must be uploaded online already. Because you have to submit a direct download link to your song (you can't give viewers probs cos of your LYRICS na) 2. You write your lyrics yourself, i just edit it to correct punctuations. 3. The two ways by which you can upload your lyrics is; (i) by the new email i'll create for the site (ii) A form will be on the site where you can easily fill in the info(recommended) 4. A facebook and twitter pages will be created where we will share new and existing LYRICS. You know you have to invite more and more people to LIKE / FOLLOW the pages. Cos the more LIKES / FOLLOWERS the pages get, the better our chances of reaching more audience. 4. If you sing another language, you should translate. Though this feature is optional but important for you to get audience in other tribes that exists. 5. The lyrics are going to be uploaded in ".txt" format and synced with google drive. Meaning people can download the LYRICS to their phones or pc and view it later, its not compulsory to stay still on the website to view the lyrics. NOTE: ADMINS WILL BE NEEDED TOO If you are in support, LIKE and SHARE, if you feel something iz wrong with this idea, Please drop your comments lets hear what you feel abou this initiative! You can tell me thingz privately by messaging me on fb @ facebook.com/mustyhboy Or send me an email; sannimustapha@gmail.com
