Good day prof Wip .....Still on my interest on agro-based adsorption method of water treatment Sir, what are the criterias to look at when choosing an adsorbent material for research, that is, How do we know that a particular material can be good adsorbent for water treatment (then to proposed it for a research), or might have the potential of adsorbing something.
Is there analysis or practical to carry out on the material to know. Thank you.
Also I still can't access those materials, is saying error after download. Thanks Mohammedmusty88@gmail.com |

Theo025: Greetings Prof @Wip7 and everyone in this thread. Sir I must confessed that your contributions to this thread has been highly motivational and charging. I am a prospective MSc student (Forestry and Wood Science) as I have been admitted but resuming next year. Currently I am volunteering as an intern with my undergraduate supervisor because I am really interested in research. I will like to ask questions based on this but I will like to say it is not a PhD research work but BSc for one of my supervisor's student. He is working on a topic which looks similar to this. He is working on removal of heavy metal in contaminated water using 3 different species of sawdust. He is working on batch adsorption system and he is collecting real water waste. He is using AAS to detect the heavy metals and removing the predominant one. I am interested in the work and I will like to get your advise on the experimental procedures as I wish to contribute to the work and learn from it.
Thank you in advance sir Good day Prof Wip7, the guidance and educative information you are offering on this platform is highly commendable. May God help you also. I am a prospective PhD student in Environmental Engineering, with research interest on Water supply and waste waste treatment. Hoping to study in Turkish universities. Please I will be happy if I can get some of your publushed articles on adsorption of water treatment using agro based materials to my mail: mohammedmusty88@gmail.com. Thank you Professor |

Okay Thank you very much Professor I am so grateful for the guide thanks wip7: There are various heavy metals contamination that leads to poisoning and kidney problems including Arsenic, Lead, Cadmium and Mercury......Take note, the kidney is the first target organ of heavy metal toxicity. The extent of renal damage by heavy metals depends on the nature, the dose, route and duration of exposure.
So before you design any treatment technology, you must identify which heavy metal contained in the water, concentrations which will be compared with permitted limits/standard and possible routes/source of contamination.
To do that test, you will need to collect the water at different points and time ...if you have Water testing kits and skilled you can analyze the water or rather take the samples to lab using AAS to detect the dosage. Collecting the water at various spots or sources will likely help you to locate the route of the heavy metal. Ensure the water collection bottles are not contaminated before being used.
After analysis, then you can design either physical(adsorption) or biological (plant or organism) or hybrid treatment method in a small scale to evaluate the efficiency of the methods against the real and treated water samples.....then the effective method can be scaled up..... |

Prof Wip7, Sir my interest is to eliminate heavy metals in drinking water in my area, we have high cases of kidney problems, I am just suspecting the heavy metals in our area and the septic tank pollution. Which technology can i developed to be adopted at households to treat their water of heavy metals before drinking. Need Guidance. wip7: That’s fantastic. I have worked on many agro wastes and I have enhanced their adsorptive capacity for various pollutants.
You can let me know which you are interested, which adsorption system (batch or column) you want to use, which pollutant you are considering, single or multiple pollutants, laboratory/simulated or real wastewater, how you intend to carry out the regeneration and reuse of the adsorbent, which kinetics, isotherm and thermo studies you are considering, will you be doing data optimization to enhance the parameters for industrial use? You are aware the adsorption is not a destructive tech so what happens to the spent adsorbents ?
You can reply here let people gain as well.. |

OK thank you, I am so grateful for the guidance wip7: Nope is not real impact factor....
The real impact factor is computed when the journal is indexed in the aforementioned databases and in most cases it takes 3-4 years for any new journal to be issued impact factor if belongs to reputable publisher.
Take note: impact factor is not just the only metric to qualify a journal ...
When you want to publish always visit clarivate website to see if the journal exist there and then you can see the genuine indexes/coverage of the journal.

Best wishes! |

Thank you so much for the response. But I saw on their website Google based Impact Factor IF: 1.14, is it the real impact factor sir, see it below wip7: A quality journal has a peer review system. Indexed under SCI, SCI-expanded, or SSCI. Can be found in Web of Science/Thomson Reuters database. Also, has verifiable metrics such as impact factor, Citescore.
The journal you mentioned above don’t have those listed characters.....so
Please always consider publishing in journals from Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor, Nature, Emrald, Sage etc ....
Best wishes

wip7: My recent Publication: Green Energy (Hydrogen fuel) production from toxic gas
Journal: Published in International Journal of Hydrogen Energy
Journal Metrics: Impact 4.08, SCI (Science citation index), ranked 31 among 155 journals in Energy and Fuel.
Brief information on the research: Hydrogen sulphide, H2S, is an acutely corrosive, flammable and toxic gas; which is discharged from natural resources (geothermal and volcano areas), coal gasification and petroleum hydro-treatment processes (˃ 10 million tons/year) or present in the Black Sea naturally in the aqueous for. The H2S is considered a disposable broad spectrum gaseous poison, specifically, it prevents normal cellular respiration by rapidly binding with iron-containing complexes in the body. Despite its toxicity, H2S is considered a viable source for hydrogen and sulfur production due to its abundant availability and relatively low thermodynamic decomposition.
What did we do: We collected the toxic gas and designed solar-electrocatalytic system to split the H2S into green fuel (hydrogen) and solid sulphur for use in other industries. The research has opened a new way to mitigate environmental poisons and its conversion to most needed green energy.
Research funding: The research received 25,000$ from Turkish Government which involves the collection of HS2 gas, fabrication of 50 mL solar-electrocatalytic system etc.

Thank you Yes please is there a format of mailing a professor, they are not responding to my mail Daddybomboy: Why do you want to do a PhD? What are your areas of research interests? A research is an inquiry into an unknown field.., what's the significance of your proposed research; how does it contribute to/add new knowledge in your field?
You need to ask yourself these questions (there are a whole lot more) and develop a PhD research proposal.
When you have a good proposal, then look up for professors who share similar research interests with you and send them your proposal and cv. If they show interest in your proposal and agree to supervise you, then you can proceed with the application and nominate them as your supervisor.
If you get a professor, the chances of you getting admissions is up to 60%.
So you see, no one can get a PhD admission for you. You have to do it yourself |
