A 28-year-old man, simply identified as Juwon, has allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl at Alafia, Itele, Ota, Ogun State. The grandmother, upon arrival, discovered bloodstains on the victim’s dress and inquired what had happened. The girl told her that the suspect defiled her when she was not around.

The visibly-shaken girl, who was said to have had bruises in her private parts, alleged: “Brother Juwon took me to his room and removed my panties. He then penetrated me. When my grandmother returned, she noticed my blood-stained dress and I told her what happened.”

When questioned why he raped the minor, the suspect did not respond. The grandmother said Juwon should be made to face the wrath of the law.

Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky will depart Nigeria today through the Abuja International airport to India. IMN leader was already in Abuja and waiting to be flown to India along with DSS personnel by a privately chartered aircraft.

Recalled that a Kaduna State High court granted El-Zakzaky and his wife medical leave to undergo treatment at an Indian hospital of their choice. The court ordered that they be released to go to the hospital and return for the continuation of their trial after their discharge from the hospital.

The 34 year old bricklayer, identified as Abdulahi Olalekan, was on the site owned by a property company with other labourers working, when the hoodlums allegedly stormed the site and started shooting sporadically and in the melee that ensued, Olakekan was shot in the jaw.

During the daring raid, they chased the company’s workers away from the site, boasting that they had come to re- claim the land from the company.

Also, it was learnt the attackers, numbering about 159 allegedly carted away three motorcycles belonging to the site workers after shooting Abdulahi and abandoned him in a pool of his blood. A suspect, simply identified as ‘Killer’ has been arrested and detained at the Owode-Egba Police Station, in connection with the incident

And in a petition by the representative of the company, Alexander Waheed and addressed to the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, he urged him to cause an investigation into the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Alexander lamented that the property company had purchased the disputed landed property in six villages of Falokun, Omusokun, Abipagun, Sorin, Penpen and Abule Oru and ratified all the necessary title documents, including the Deed of Sale and Deeds Of Agreement between year 2003 and 2005 but was shock that the suspects could lead some people to attack workers at site.

Mr Benjamin Simeon and a native of Okposi in Ebonyi State in South-east was allegedly shot by yet to be unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Saturday in Johannesburg, a city in South Africa. The spokesperson for the association, Mr Sunny-Wenike Douglas, explained that until his death, late Simeon was a Taxify driver.

The victim was said to have been killed almost immediately after dropping off his clients in a part of the city. Douglas added that an investigating officer with the South Africa Police Service confirmed that a case of murder had been opened on the matter.

He vowed that his association would follow up with the case to ensure that the killers were arrested and brought to justice.

Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has appointed Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch, aged 39, as Children and Families Minister, as part of his government reshuffle. Badenoch is a British Conservative politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Saffron Walden.

Tweeting about her appointment, Badenoch @KemiBadenoch posted on 29 July: “Thank you for all good wishes and kind messages of support received. Police in Ludhiana, Punjab's Khanna district have arrested a Nigerian drug peddler and recovered 200 gram of heroin from his possession. The accused, identified as Ezeke of Imo state, resides at Phase-5 in Uttam Nagar West in New Delhi.

Superintendent of police, Jasvir Singh, said the accused was arrested at a checkpoint on the national highway in Doraha on Thursday, July 25. He was coming from the bus stand side when the police stopped him for checking. When frisked, the police seized 200g of heroin wrapped in a polythene bag from his possession.


According to police officials, the estimated cost of the consignment in the international market is around Rs 1 crore. SSP, Khanna, Gursharandeep Singh said that the accused was booked under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Doraha police station.
