INSECURITY: STATE POLICE, MODERN EQUIPMENT FOR MILITARY INEVITABLE-GOV. AKEREDOLU

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has made case for modern equipment for the Nigerian Military to help in their fight against insurgents and other criminalities in the country.

Arakunrin Akeredolu also called for multi-level policing system as the best way to secure the country, adding that the issue of state police has become more necessary than ever

He lauded the Nigerian Military counter-terrorism efforts aimed at ridding the country and the state of criminal elements and criminalities.

Governor Akeredolu also appreciated the support and commitment of the military in securing the state and confronting kidnappers and other elements who are troubling the peace of the state.

The Governor spoke at the state Christian service in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at St. Benedict Military Catholic Church, Owena Cantonment Nigerian Army , Ondo Road, Akure on Sunday, January 10; 2021.

Arakunrin Akeredolu charged the security agencies in the state to work together, adding that collaborative efforts among the security agencies can only yield a better result and peace for the people.

He lamented that issues of better ammunitions and welfare of the security agencies must continue to be at the fore front, to better encourage and support the officers in their fight against criminalities.

The Governor implored the security agents not to rest on their laurel, stressing that despite their concerted efforts, criminality has not abated in the state and the country at large.

“ Apart from prayers, as individuals, we should empathisewith the widows and dependants of our fallen heroes and one major way of doing this is to donate generously to emblem appeal fund by buying these emblems.

“For the benefit of doubt, let me emphasise that proceeds of the “Emblem Appeal” is for the Nigerian Legion for the welfare of the ex-servicemen and the dependants of the fallen heroes.“

While reiterating the need to remember the fallen heros and be joyful in God’s presence, the Governor said despite the loses and death of public officers in the government, the devil must be shamed.

In his remark, the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Bridage, Brigadier Gen. ZL Abubakar appreciated the commitment of Governor Akeredolu to the 32 artillery brigade, soldiers, widows and dependents of the fallen heros.

He said the command recognized and valued the frequent supports and encouragement of the Governor, urging him not to be tired of supporting them.

Ondo PDP governorship campaign kicked off today at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure, the Ondo state capital for the PDP’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.

Ondo South West PDP crisis deepens as Fayose, Adeleke, Adebutu, others shun Ondo campaign flag off

Fayose and other notable leaders in the zone were not carried along in the runnings of the campaign by Governor Seyi Makinde.

He singlehandedly constituted the campaign council, placing Fayose as member of the Mobilisation Sub-Committee.

The Campaign Team of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN was today welcomed with a thunderous rendition of songs and strong display of support for the leading candidate and APC flag-bearer in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State by party members, supporters and the people of Oke Agbe Community.

Welcoming the jubilant crowd, the APC state Chairman,Engr Ade Adetimehin expressed his satisfaction at the large turnout witnessed in the community while also praising them for their continual support of the present administration in the State who he stated is doing is best to ensure the sustenance of the dividends of democracy as being witnessed in the community and across the 18 local government areas of the State.

The APC state Chairman also welcomed into the fold of the party defectors from the People's Democratic Party,the defectors were led by Comrade Bankole the PDP 2019 Akoko North West 2 Candidate in the House of Assembly election. Comrade Bankole in his speech thanked the party members for accepting him to the APC fold while also stating that there is no room for the People's Democratic Party in the State.

Adetimehin while welcoming him stated that today's a great day for the APC in Ondo State has it had earlier in Akure welcomed Party Executives from the Zenith Labor Party and it has also welcomed new set of members to its fold in Oke Agbe. He admonished Comrade Bankole and other party faithful in the community to return back to their respective units to continue canvassing for more support for the Governor.

Addressing the crowd, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN stated that election is coming and the people must ensure that nobody toy with their votes as there is no room for manipulations in the State. According to him, the APC is a progressive party and Ondo State is also a Progressive Party, many benefits comes with voting the APC which he described as a party with a very strong Federal support.

He added that it's possible for the NDDC to execute projects in the community because the party has its members from the community in Abuja. In his words,"when you vote a party with the support of the Federal Government it is easier to draw the support of the Federal Government to your location" He enjoined the people of Oke Agbe never to vote a party without relatives or contemporaries while also adding that the continuity of his led administration is important to ensure the continuity of good governance in the state

There are Strong indications last night that the embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi may be on his way to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

It was authoritatively gathered that Ajayi, on Friday night, met former Governor Olusegun Mimiko at his residence in Ondo town to discuss the possibility of flying the party’s ticket.

Mimiko is the National leader of ZLP.

Curiously, the meeting of the duo came a few hours after the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) and estranged political son of Mimiko, Eyitayo Jegede visited Ajayi at his Okitipupa residence as part of his reconciliation moves after the primary.

Ajayi, maternally from Ondo town, was said to have received an appreciable support from Mimiko during the primary, but lost to Jegede at the PDP primary.

Sources in ZLP revealed that Ajayi is begging Mimiko, who is the national leader of the party for the ZLP governorship ticket.

Already, ZLP had elected Hon Rotimi Benjamin as its candidate for the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the State.

Although Mimiko had yet given a definite answer to Ajayi’s request, it was still unclear what the implication of such overtures would be for Benjamin.

But if the request sails through, Ajayi told Mimiko that his running mate would come from Owo, the hometown of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

All the same, Mimiko is expected to meet his associates and followers on Sunday to deliberate on the matter.

It will be recalled that Ajayi, who dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for PDP, came second in the party primary election that produced Mr. Eyitayo Jegede as the PDP governorship candidate.

After the PDP primary election, the deputy governor, through a statement signed by his Campaign Director General, Dr. Kola Ademujimi had said:

“PDP remains our party and we therefore want all our supporters to remain loyal to the Party as we work towards the way forward”

It was gathered that Ajayi’s to contest under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP) but might have abandoned that idea following the outburst of the SDP state leader, who is also the lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye a.k.a Small Alhaji on his Facebook page that the party won’t become a dumping ground for desperate politicians.

“Some of us knew how he supported Agbo may be because his mother is from Ondo town and you know if course blood is thicker than water. If the man failed at the primary to Jegede, another failure would rubbish the integrity of our leader, Iroko”, he said.

In a reaction , the Media Adviser to the Deputy governor, Allen Sowore told ROVING REPORTERS that Agboola is only consulting with his supporters and will come out with his next line of actions.

Sowore said “ The deputy governor is only consulting with his supporters and in another one week, he will come out with the next line of action . All I can tell you now is that he still consulting. ”
