Politics / Governor Akeredolu Chides Olanusi Over Uncomplementary Remarks On Development. by mutumina007: 1:29pm On Nov 30, 2019
The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has chided the former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi for lying against his administration in his recent interview published in the national dailies

Olanusi, in the interview said the state has been underdeveloped under Akeredolu, adding that those roads claimed to have been constructed by the Governor are not up to one kilometre.

But, the Governor, while reacting to Olanusi’s comment described it has a mere campaign of calumny against his government.

He spoke at the inauguration of Oba Fedrick Obateru Akintuntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo, as the Chairman of the State Council of Obas. The event held at the International Centre for Culture and Events (DOME) was graced by all traditional rulers in the State.

Akeredolu urged the former Deputy Governor to pray for forgiveness of sins, saying if Olanusi cannot see other notable road projects constructed by his administration and that are more than one kilometre, he is, at least, expected to see the four kilometres road constructed by this government in his hometown, Supare-Akoko in Akoko South West local government

The Governor told the monarchs that no amount of fabricated lies by political opponents to sabotage his administration would stop him from spreading the construction of roads to every part of the state in order to improve economic activities and make life easy for the people.

He noted that a good number of roads in the State will be reconstructed as dual carriageways to ease transport and commerce and provide massive employment opportunities for the people.

His words, “I want to say with all sense of modesty that we have not let down the people in fulfilling our promises to impact positively on the State and her people. I want to state that Your Majesties are living witnesses to some of our achievements in the last three years.”

Governor Akeredolu listed some of the roads already constructed by his administration to include: ”Oke Alabojuto Road, Ikare-Akoko; Lennon Jubilee – Solaco Road, Ugbe Road, Ikare-Akoko; Selected Roads in Ifon; Oke Afa Road, Supare-Akoko; failed portions along Iwaro-Oka/Isua Road.

“ Reconstruction as dual carriageway of the road from Emure Junction – AUD and from Ministry of works to Iyere Junction, Owo ; Reconstruction as dual carriageway of ‘A’ Division to Ijoka Road (ongoing); Reconstruction as dual carriageway of Akure to Oda Road (ongoing); Construction of selected Roads in Akure Township; Construction of selected Roads in Idanre; Igbara-Oke – Ibuji Road; Oke-Ogba Community Road

“Reconstruction as dual carriageway of the road from CBN to Bishop’s Court in Alagbaka, Akure; Sabomi – Ajagba Road (2.3km); Construction of Ile-Oluji Township Roads; Construction of flyover across Ore – Benin Expressway (ongoing); and Construction of Okitipupa – Igbokoda Byepass Road (ongoing).”

Arakunrin Akeredolu also disclosed that there have been massive renovation of public primary schools across the 18 Local Government Areas in the State, with the provision of school furniture, ICT facilities, fence to enhance security, amongst others.

He said his administration has implemented these projects, such that no local government area in the state is left out.

The Governor said the resolve of his administration to woo investors to Ondo State is already yielding fruitful results with the Paper Mill Factory, Ethanol Plant,MDF/HDF Wood Plant and the Win-win Textile already established at the Ondo-Linyi Industrial Park in Ore for the rapid economic development of the State.

He stressed that the proposed Seaport is still very much on course, adding that It was gratifying to say that the project implementation plan for the Deep Seaport, spelling out milestones and timelines for the completion of the multibillion dollars projects, has been received.

“The feasibility study of the proposed Port of Ondo has shown that it is economically viable, as it has the deepest natural draught with the longest coastline in the West African Sub-region and capacity to harbour any ship in the world.” Akeredolu said.

Science/Technology / Ondo State Gov. Akeredolu Receives Accolades For His Giant Stirdes by mutumina007: 8:27am On Nov 28, 2019
Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has received accolades from unexpected quarters for his giant strides in infrastructural development in the last three years.

IT was yet another feather to the already decorated cap of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu when the Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) conferred on him the prestigious award of the Best Governor in Infrastructural Development last week.

Akeredolu was selected, the NUJ said, for the award for his outstanding accomplishments in various sectors, despite the paucity of funds. Members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm could not have put the situation in the state more succinctly. On assumption of office, a little less than three years ago, Akeredolu met Ondo in a very troubling state.

On assumption of office in February 2017, Akeredolu met a disturbing state of affairs. The workers were being owed a backlog of seven months salaries. Children were sent out of school because their parents could not pay their fees, and families separated because the man could not perform his responsibility of catering to the needs of his family. The civil service was on the brink.

Today, despite having cleared six of the seven months backlog of salaries, the Akeredolu administration has ensured prompt payment of salaries in the last 32 months. Workers are promoted, leave allowances are paid and various capacity-building pieces of training have been organised for public servants. This is in addition to the appointment of 44 permanent secretaries, righting the wrongs that have been done to many top civil servants by past administrations.

Expectedly, workers are happy. They have moved on from a season when they looked to the future with little hope and their children were sent out of school because their parents could not pay their fees, to a new season of abundance and hope.

The education sector is up and running again. Despite the huge amount purportedly spent on education by the former administration, many public schools were in shambles, with roofs blown off and dilapidated buildings. Expectedly, the state, which once stood as the pride of the Southwest region, dropped in ratings of many examinations bodies.

The abysmal performance of students from the state in national examinations captured the picture painted by Governor Akeredolu of the education sector, while addressing the people of the state. The governor had lamented that failure of the curricula to address the challenges encountered by the society had reduced education to what it is in most societies.

With proper planning and strategic execution of policies, the administration has constructed or renovated more than 800 public primary schools. Aside from wearing new looks, the schools now boast of modern facilities to make studying attractive to the young minds.

The most significant testimony from a private person of the impact of the new education policy was from the Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Yayi Akorede, when he spoke on the newly-reconstructed Muslim Primary School in Akure, the state capital.

Akorede said: “The school was abandoned for several years by successive administrations. Most of the parents have taken their children away to other schools and most of us thought the school would die. But, despite being a Christian, the governor ensured that the school was reconstructed with new and modern facilities, when he came on board. Today, enrolment has improved and the Muslim community is happy.”

Celebrities / Re: Davido's Fiancée, Chioma, Stuns In New Picture by mutumina007: 5:38am On Nov 27, 2019
I totally agree with you on the education and career path one, she should be able to. Ring something to the table when graduates of her kind are running shoulders. It's not too late to go back to school.

Thegamingorca:
She's a disgrace to all women fighting for the right of being acknowledged as human beings and not mops with oily pussies.

Davido go soon tire for punannni, all men always do; if not now then when she expires. Nah then she go know say she was stupid to have left school and become his trophy. Useless girl, for her mind her destiny and dream since infancy is to straff davido senseless everynight. That's why she now left school. Nonsense, even prince William's wife, the duchess of Cambridge, who will be william queen when he ascends the throne bin still go school. Chioma is A big disgrace to all bossladys

Even David knows the importance that's why he still went back and completed his education.

In this day and age, you ought to have self respect and a sense of self worth to atleast be independent if all hell breaks and not be associated with some superstar for the rest of his life. She should strive to be chioma the superstar or something nice too. What if davido dies tomorrow. Will she stupidly now go to school or continue his music career for him? How will she afford to give her son quality stardom life that he deserves assuming davido leaves her with nothing. Will she go and marry his father lol?

She had better be productive that way she would make Davido Chase her for the rest of her life for fear of loosing her to someone better.

Imagine the fear she must go through daily that davido may leave her. Mark my words her son will call her a gold digger if she doesn't do something fast. Rubbish

Seeing her wear these fendi shoes makes me hate the fact that she is shamelessly flaunting davido's wealth. Something she herself will never buy for herself even if she has the money. Why can't she try to flaunt her own wealth. Shoes that will buy her entire father's household a to and fro trip to Dubai! It's not wise. Chioma pls go and finish school. Pls don't be a sheep or somebodys toilet paper because he's famous. Be a human being. Be you, chioma

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN , has been conferred with an Award of Excellence In Infrastructural Development by the state Council of Nigeria Union of Jounalists (NUJ).

The award was conferred on the Governor at the State Secretariat of the NUJ on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

The Chairman of the state NUJ Coucil, Comrade Adetona Aderoboye , said the award was in recognition of the giant strides of the Governor, adding that the Union decided to confer the award on Governor Akeredolu to serve as impetus for him to do more for the development of the state.

He said: ”Arakunrin Akeredolu’s diligence and unparallel contributions to the socio-economic and political development of Ondo State have not gone unnoticed by members of the Fourth Estate of the realm.

“It is worthy of note that the administration of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu took a radical departure from the past style of governance with the unprecedented commitment to the provision of Infrastructure across the nooks and crannies of the state.

“In fact, the entire landscape of the state has been turned into a huge construction site with projects in Road Construction, Education, Health, Water Supply, Agricultural and Rural Development, while it is needless to mention that the administration’s industrial drive is obviously yielding fruitful results.”

In his address, Governor Akeredolu said his administration, since inception, has done its utmost best within the available resources to create a conducive environment for journalists in the State to practise their profession through training and the provision of necessary infrastructural facilities.

According to the Governor, some of his administration’s interventions include; Upgrading of facilities and the work environment of Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, which was comatose when he took over; Rehabilitation of Adaba FM Road (ongoing) and the Rehabilitation of the road to OSRC (ongoing).

The interventions also include the Setting up of Digital television Studio for recording and presentation of government programmes for the Ministry of Information and Orientation; Resuscitation and rebranding of Ministry of Information Newsletter which carries news across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and the Procurement of two buses for Government House Press Crew to mention but a few.

Governor Akeredolu, who said he had not just watched, but received without revulsion, media attacks under the guise of press freedom and free speech, assured that his administration will never gag the Press.

He said the two major news media houses of the State Government, the OSRC and Owena Press Ltd, (publishers of The Hope newspapers) have enjoyed freedom from government meddlesomeness into their contents.

He said: “We cannot feign ignorance of the hazards of your profession to which you are exposed daily. To mitigate this in our own little way, I wish to restate my earlier decision to undertake the insurance of all journalists covering the Government House activities.”

Politics / Kogi West Rerun: Melaye Rejects Results, Describes It As Helicopter Election by mutumina007: 7:43pm On Nov 17, 2019
Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi West Senatorial District rerun election, Dino Melaye, has condemned the results, calling it ‘fictitious’.

Mr. Melaye who spoke to journalists in Abuja, alleged that the November 16 election was marred by compromise, extreme violence, and rigging.

“The innovation is that what we had is what I have christened ‘Helicopter election’. For the first time, rigging has been advanced to the level that now the use of a helicopter in perpetuating this electoral atrocity manifested yesterday.

“Helicopter hovering around Polling units in Lokoja, dropping bullets on innocent, harmless citizens and electorate; and as I speak, yesterday, teargas being fired from this helicopter.”

He added that the violence witnessed in his community should give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reasons to stop the collation of results on Sunday.

“Despite the fact that this helicopter was used in harassing, intimidating and firing innocent electorates, the votes of those places were carted away and taken to the government house, stuffed and brought back to the collation centre and they have been accepted and admitted and collation is ongoing.

“They brought mayhem on my own community and even killed my nephew, we are waiting to see what INEC will do, but I reject in totality, this fictitious result and I want to say that all these are not about the election, it is about Dino Melaye,” he stated.

On October 11, the Appeal Court ordered a rerun election in Kogi West Senatorial District between Senator Dino Melaye of the PDP and Senator Smart Adeyemi of the APC.

Eid-el-Maulud: Akeredolu congratulates Muslims, sues for tolerance, peaceful coexistence

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, has congratulated Muslim faithful in the State as they mark EID el-MALUD, the birthday of Prophet Muhammed.

Governor Akeredolu says the combined virtues of tolerance, discipline as well as peaceful coexistence are basic essentials required of all to build a virile Nation.

According to the Governor: ”This period remains an enviable one not just because of the birth of the Holy Prophet, Muhammed. It is, no doubt, has the enforcing potency for all to be tolerant, disciplined and peaceful. This is the only sure path to Nation-building.

”As a Nation, we have had our own share of challenges, some of which are not too detached from religious extremism, bigotry as well as lust for materialism. These can only be avoidable vices if we imbibe the true teachings of the Holy Prophet as enunciated in the Holy Qur’an.

”Despite these challenges, our collective hope lies in the true teachings of the Holy Prophet and those whose strong faith in such teachings have contributed no small measure to social harmony. We shall overcome as long as our faith in Almighty Allah remains unshaken.”
