Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN,has flagged-off the Public Workfare (PWF) and Special Grant Transfer (SGT) components of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) in the State.

The Social Welfare program which is in partnership with the World Bank is in tandem with the vision of the Governor Akeredolu’s administration to provide social protection for the weak and vulnerable people in the society.

Delivering his address at the Official flag-off of the scheme in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government Area of the State, on Wednesday, Governor Akeredolu explained that the Public Workfare is designed to provide immediate labour intensive work opportunities for unskilled, uneducated and unemployed youths from poor and vulnerable households in the communities.

He said the state is already witnessing a commendable effort of government that has provided gainful employment for over 4,000 vulnerable youths who now participate in productive community service and are paid a stipend of N7,500 monthly.

The Governor said the Special Grant Transfer is designed for aged and physically challenged with the aim of providing life sustaining assistance to them and to have access to quality healthcare.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said:” In Ondo State, we currently have 2,752 aged and physically challenged beneficiaries who have begun to receive stipends of N20,000 each on quarterly basis. This is in tandem with our vision of giving adequate attention to the welfare of aged and physically challenged population across the State.”

The Governor disclosed that the programmes are being implemented in the six pilot Local Government Areas of Akure North, Ifedore, Akoko South West, Ileoluji/Okeigbo, Ese-Odo and Owo.

He assured people of other Local Government Areas of the state that they would benefit from the programme in no distant time, adding that all necessary conditions have been fulfilled by the State Government.

The Governor said:”The Household Uplifting Programme, also known as the Cash Transfer is directed at the poor and vulnerable households in the participating communities.

“It is designed to enhance the quality of living in extremely poor households, through a bi-monthly payment of N10,000 to each household. As I speak, 3,800 households are benefiting from the programme in Ondo State.”

Arakunrin Akeredolu said his administration will continue to attend to the yearnings of the people and provide the enabling environment for all interventions that attend to the socio-economic development of the State and its citizenry.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Multilateral and Intergovernmental relations, Mrs Bunmi Ademosu said the Akeredolu’s administration made frantic efforts to ensure that the intervention was brought to the state for the benefit of the people.

She assured the beneficiaries that the current Adminstration will continue to be at the side of the people and attend to their welfare.

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has announced the lifting of the suspension of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state.

The committee also lifted the suspension of former governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; and his Imo counterpart, Senator Rochas Okorocha.

The NWC at its meeting also lifted the suspension of the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu; and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani.

This is definitely a story I believe, instead some desperate people are saying otherwise. Governor Akeredolu and Sen. Borroffice are men of honour and don't put emotiins before professionalism.

They should investigate the fella well with serous scrutiny, there is always something beneath the surface.

Prophet should have been invited for questioning long time ago. But then there's another twist to the story, if the pastor had an enemy that wanted to do him harm, this is an excellent and cruel way to achieve that objective.

The founder and general overseer of an Akure based popular Miracle Centre, Sotitobire Church, Prophet Babatunde Alfa was this afternoon apprehended by men of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the missing of a child in his church.

Although details of his arrest was still sketchy as at the time of this report, the popular pastor was picked by detectives from Abuja over his alleged roles in the missing of one year-old boy, Gold at his church one month ago.

Alfa, who is the founder of the popular church known as ‘Sotitobire Miracle Centre’ which is located at Oshinle quarters area of Akure, was accused by the parents of the missing child identified as Gold Kolawole, over the mysterious disappearance of their son from the church.

It was gathered that he had been taken to Abuja for questioning and prosecution

It was gathered that one-year-old Gold has been missing for the past one month.

Men of the Nigeria Police have been criticised for their failure to arrest Prophet Alfa or any of his staff who are in charge of children Sunday school where the child got missing.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN has urged his colleagues in the legal practice to always speak up on time in defence of the rule of law.

Speaking at the 65th Anniversary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch, to celebrate its 2019 Law Week, Governor Akeredolu said lawyers are privileged set of humans who have the onerous and arduous tasks of protecting the sanctity of humanity.

Arakunrin Akeredolu who was a President of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Patron of the NBA, Ibadan Branch, said lawyers cannot afford to either be silent in the face of intimidation or get disunited in the task of building a "virile nation of our dreams".

"We cannot be passive, we must always be united in saying the truth and doing the right thing

"We must equally speak up on time against abuses, so that our country will be a better place for all of us", he said.

While commending the Ibadan Branch for the choice of topic for the anniversary: Law, Probity and Good Governance: Practical Approach To Making Nigeria Greater, Governor Akeredolu said lawyers must wake to prosecute their convictions with courage.

Ekimogun day today in Ondo kingdom

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has said Akure, the Ondo State capital and Ondo City will soon get General Hospitals to replace the old ones that were amalgamated to form a Multi Complex Teaching Hospitals in both towns.

It will be recalled that the Akeredolu’s administration signed into law the establishment of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Complex (UNIMEDTHC).

The Law amalgamated existing specialist hospitals in Akure and Ondo town to form a Multi Complex Teaching Hospital, named University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex for the already existing University of Medical Sciences.

Governor Akeredolu said his administration understands that Teaching hospitals are meant for referral cases, adding that the two towns will soon get another General Hospital.

Arakunrin Akeredolu was speaking at the Ekimogun Day Festival 2019, which was held at the Oba Adesanoye Civic Center, Ondo town on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

The Governor also appreciated the role of the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo in fostering peace in the kingdom.

According to the Governor, the Monarch's initiative of getting the youths out to renounce their membership of different cult groups has brought peace into the kingdom and the state at large.

The Governor said: ”I want to thank you, sir. You started it and other Traditional Rulers followed suit. You brought the young cultists together and they renounced their membership of the groups. We have seen the benefits in the peaceful atmosphere. I thank you for using your foundation to train a few of them. The Deji of Akure has done it and Owo has followed suit a few weeks ago.”

Arakunrin Akeredolu also disclosed that his administration will soon embark on the construction of rural roads in Ondo Kingdom, through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) of the world bank.

The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, today, Friday, December 6, 2019 formally renamed the Senate Building of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, as Olusegun Mimiko Senate Building.

According to the Visitor, the renaming was done to acknowledge his vision for the State while in Office.

He was assisted by the Pro Chancellor, Dr Tunji Abayomi; Vice Chancellor, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun; and other Principal and senior government and university officers.
