Biafra agitation is something that no one can probably take away from the Igbos at the moment. Every generation since the civil war know the Biafran struggle. There is a huge chance the fight for freedom may not end as easy as most people think. The SouthEast region of Nigeria is occupied by Igbos. At the moment, the region is made up of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo State. The Igbos are known for their industrious and business savvy nature. Apart from that, they are also blessed with large mineral deposits including crude oil, natural gas, coal, rock, arable lands and abundance of human resources. http://uptownerd.com/2021/05/19/here-is-what-each-of-the-5-southeast-states-will-bring-to-the-table-if-biafra-becomes-independent/

The process for the Impeachment of a Nigerian president is contained in Section 143 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended. To impeach a sitting President, this is the legally accepted way of doing it according to the Constitution of the Land – i. Notice of Gross Misconduct The impeachment proceedings start with a notice of gross misconduct in writing to the President. The notice is to be signed by 1/3rd of the National Assembly. A gross misconduct means “… a grave violation or breach of the provisions of this Constitution or a misconduct of such nature as amounts in the opinion of the National Assembly to misconduct”. ii. The notice of misconduct must be served the President within 7 days after receipt by the Senate President. The President need not reply. But, in case he or she does, the reply must be served on every member of the National Assembly. iii. After the notice has been served on the president, each chamber of the National Assembly must adopt through a motion, on whether or not the allegation against the president should be investigated. The motion must scale through a 2/3rd majority in the affirmative to be passed at both Chambers. iv. If the motion doesn’t scale through, that will be the end of the venture. https://uptownerd.com/2021/05/11/how-to-impeach-a-president-in-nigeria/

One good feature of music is it’s ability to move from shores across other geographies, and probably metamorphose into the music of it’s new location if at all it could just have one listening ear in the environment. That’s probably the story of Afrobeats in a nutshell. For Instance, the UK Afrobeats Top track “Don’t Rush” by Young T & Bugsey also became a hit in Nigeria when Falz did a cover of the song. Another great example is “Oliver Twist” by D’banj which was a hit in Africa and ruled Charts across the world. Expectedly, Oliver Twist will soon go on and amassed several covers by various artistes. There was also “Ojuelegba” by Wizkid and the Remix featuring Drake that went global. Then there is the duet with Drake on the award winning global hit track “One Dance” and “Brown Skin Girl” with Beyonce. Before these were P-Square who have also landed features with top US Acts – Rick Ross and TI. Most recently being the duets by Burna Boy and Chris Martin; Davido and Nicki Minaj; Wizkid and Beyonce, Damian Marley. Burna Boy have also consistently topped UK Afrobeats over the years. There are also several others which are too many to start listing. It’s not just afrobeat alone, it includes all forms of musical genres ruling the Nigerian music industry with their Afro-beats. The Afrobeats here also stands for Afro-Music, which is the sum total of all African inspired music that has been commercialised, became popular or gone mainstream in one way or the other in Nigeria. So, here we go – 1) Afropop Although called Afropop, this does not totally mean the songs in this category are pop songs. Pop here though stands for popular music. Since it’s hard to start defining all the thousands of genre’s sprouting under the arms of Afrobeats, it will be classified as Afropop. The reason for the classification is because of the various infusions and interchangeable mixes in form of cross-pollination between the various types of Nigerian music – from folk or traditional music to foreign influence. It’s also safe to say that most of the other classifications below also fall into the Afropop category. For simplicity sake, Afropop here will be restricted to Contemporary African Music – which is literally every modern Nigerian music you ever know. 2) Juju Music And Afro-Juju Juju music has it’s origin in Yoruba culture. Juju here does not mean witchcraft but stands for “throwing” or “something being thrown”. Babatunde (Tunde) King is known as the earliest pioneer of the genre in the 1920’s alongside Ojoge Daniels. Juju music is mostly played using traditional Yoruba percussion instruments and similar percussion generators – iya ilu, talking drums. Afro-Juju is also a form of Juju music, although more mainstream, popular and commercialised. Some major artistes include Sir Shina Peters, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and so many others. 3) HighLife Although highlife music has it’s origins in Ghana, it was made popular and commercialised in Nigeria by the Igbo’s. As early as the 1960’s, HighLife music will soon go on to became the predominant musical genre in Nigeria. Dominant names include Bobby Johnson, Bright Chimezie, Chief Steven Osita Osadebe, Dr. Sir Warrior, Ebenezer Obey, Oliver De Coque, Oriental Brothers, Prince Niko Mbarga, Sir Victor Uwaifo, etc. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Fela Kuti also did Highlife music. Of recent, we have Flavour N’Abania as the most popular modern HighLife musician in Nigeria at the moment who is mainstream. Of course, there are so many others ruling the HighLife scene across the country with traditional instruments. ••• Relationships are hectic affairs and quite consuming. It could drive and keep your positive energy at it's peak constantly if you meet someone of like drives. It could also sap you of all your happiness, leave you drained and struggling to breath. Whichever way, relationships are usually what the individuals makes of it. It's advisable to get to know someone first before proposing relationship to them. This is mostly due to the fact that you don't know their past relationship lives, and most people won't tell you because no one wants to be the bad guy of the relationship that didn't work. Like it or not, past relationships are exactly what will be used to judge your relationship with them. Here are five reasons why a lot of decent people prefer to stay single this days. 1) Choice: Obviously, the decision to be in a relationship ultimately lies with the individual. The individual can decide that relationships are not for them at any given point in time. What this entails is that, the individual can choose to date or remain single, even if there are one billion admirers seeking for entrance into their life. 2) Self Awareness: Some people know their worth and take it serious. Because this individuals actually recognize their value and worth, dating becomes restricted to people of like minds. This doesn't necessarily mean that the individual in question is extravagantly rich or a billionaire. Realising your self worth here means the ability to decide that you are not going to jump into any relationship just because the other person told you they admire you and will like to be your friend. Being aware of yourself will help your dating decisions. This is one of the reasons why many decent people are single nowadays. Here, the person can tell if the relationship will serve them or not. It is not being selfish. 3) Self Improvement: The person may have realised his flaws and character fails, and is trying to improve on them. This is mostly because the individual can empathize the reactions their negative side has created in the past, and wouldn't want to subjugate another person to it again. 4) Freedom Some people just love their personal freedom and don't like people bugging them down with relationship related issues. This type of people may have had soured relationships in the past or not. Whichever category, this persons just want to live their life, free as a bird in the moment. Whether or not they will try out dating in the future will totally depend on if it's going to curtail their freedom in any way. This doesn't mean that they can't compromise a little to accommodate their partner. But, if such accommodation is going to curtail their freedom to live their lives, they will definitely stay away. 5) Not Settling For Less People who know exactly what they want in a relationship will find it hard to settle for less. https://uptownerd.com/2021/03/06/5-reasons-why-there-are-so-many-decent-people-who-are-single-nowadays/ What do you think? Every profession or area of practice we choose to indulge our various abilities to earn a living has its vital components. This vital components are the difference between who makes it in the game or who complains about writing not being their thing after all. There are vital skills needed to be a writer who can take on any writing task and deliver a wonderful write up. To be a creative content writer, you have to brush up your creative writing skills. In this article, i am going to show you at least seven skills that will help you be a better writer. 1. Critical reading You have to develop the ability to read voraciously and widely. Don’t just read to write that topic, try and know the details of what you are reading above and below the context you actually need. It gives an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter and helps you conceptualise the details better. Read like you are seeking for answers people are likely to ask on that subject matter of choice you will be writing on. Though most of the best materials on the internet are locked away behind pay-walls, there is also enough information to read that are free. So, get started now! 2. Time management Time management is a crucial skill to have in order to be more productive with your writing. It’s good practice to keep distractions away whenever you are ready to write. This will help you focus and concentrate on the writing task ahead. Decide what to write earlier. If it’s articles for instance, schedule out your writing time table and keep to it. Proper management of your time will free up a lot of space to engage in other things you may desire to do. Make sure you finish up any work you started, else it becomes a source of unnecessary worry and may possibly prevent you from completing other works. 3) Good Research and Questioning Skills. Think big, ask big questions. As a writer, there is no limit to what you can imagine or write. Your only limit as a writer is the one limited by your level of knowledge and access to relevant information at every point in time. If you don’t develop the ability to ask proper question or seek for authentic answers through research, you will always write junk. In platforms like Opera News-Hub or Medium, the article will be rejected. The only way to learn how to ask proper questions is by reading more. Refer to #1 above! Using the right keywords in online searches will surely generate search results relevant to your query. Also know how to use the library and seek the assistance of the librarians to find books. Remember, their duty is to help you find the book that contains the knowledge or information you are looking for. 4) Humility. Accept the fact that you don’t know it all and seek for assistance where you can. Follow writers better than you, observe and learn what made them better writers. The world is not in lack of great writers at the moment. Many successful writers have presence accross giant media platforms all over the world. So, there is a rich catalogue. Ask questions to clear your doubts, Google doesn’t bite. Again, some freelance writers will rather unleash horrendous vitriolic statements at their writing contractors for rejecting their work. They never take time to heed to simple instructions given and requested of them to abide by. At the end of the day, their final output is nothing to write home about and it gets rejected. Observe, learn, relearn, and learn again. Be humble! 5) Ability to Adapt. As a writer, adaptability should be your strong suit. A good writer can write about anything to the understanding of the layman in the street. For a writer, every writing task is an opportunity to grow; the biggest writers just have the luxury of choosing their growth path and rate. Instead of shying away from writing a business article, accept the challenge and decide to write it. It’s better you write it below your expectations and then improve with the next write up. That’s adaptation. Adaptation also entails that you grow alongside the writing community from all over the world. As you already know, everyone is now a writer, so the competition is tougher now. It is your duty to constantly be abreast with what is happening in the writing world. Again, refer to #1! 6) Grammar and Spelling You cannot be a good writer if you don’t know simple grammar rules, and always write with messed up punctuations and spellings. Grammar and Spelling is what tells the professionals apart from the amateurs and wannabes. Formal, basic and standard grammar is 100% necessary for you to be a good writer. Also, punctuations and spelling is a must for brevity and clarity. Therefore, it is important to know and understand simple grammar rules for better writing. 7) Editing The ability to properly edit your work is a useful skill you must have as a writer. Editing allows you to discover mistakes you may have made while writing and correct them. Editing also helps you improve on what you have already written like wrong grammar, spellings and punctuations. As a writer, never forget to edit your work at least twice even if you think your write up is worthy of a Nobel Prize! https://uptownerd.com/2021/02/22/top-7-smart-writing-skills/

When we get involved with someone, we are not always aware of some harmful characteristics of that person. We are so emotionally involved that we ignore the signals that are given from the beginning. After a while, we realize that we are in a relationship where we are being played. As the love magic washes off, the lenses of our life glasses begin to untangle. But, even at this point, we somehow still feel that there is something that binds us to this person. The ability to dominate the partner, to make it all for you, may sum up a relationship where a partner is playing. This conduct occurs progressively, subtly, and goes beyond the boundaries, causing pain and suffering. If any of the signs below are given by your relationship, you might be likely played. Signs that you are being played: -Ambiguous lies -Rampant criticism -Negative energy -There is a continuous power struggle. -Frequent Jealousy bouts -The future of the relationship is not seen by you. -You clearly are not content in the relationship. -In your life decisions or ambitions, there is no help -Mentally inaccessible -You always take the blame for everything that goes wrong; It’s all your fault. -Frequent threats of ending the relationship by the other partner. 10 Tips That Will Wise You Up By Force “There should be mutual support and motivation for everyone to grow up healthy in a healthy relationship” – Jessica Engle. In truth, it is not a simple task. People dispute the situation much of the time, and do not see how sick it is to rely on something that affects both mental, emotional and physical health. 1. Admit that you are in a poor relationship. 2. Write down the signs in your relationship that you have identified. Check the list and try to see what is actually going on clearly. 3. Think carefully: are you really going to go forward with it or leave it behind? Some choices can be overwhelming, but the changes they bring to our lives make the hard time worthwhile. 4. To be able to see what made you want to remain in such a relationship, invest in self-knowledge. 5. Speak about your problems with a close friend or family member and listen to the point of view of that person. 6. Venting, writing, reading self-help books are some exercises which may help release built up emotions. 7. Respect yourself: learn to see yourself in the same way as you see each other. The other one isn’t better than you, and you don’t have to depend on their affection. You should make yourself happy. 8. Understand that you have the authority to leave the relationship. 9. To re-frame what was learned and create a better future for the next relationships, look for a counselor if you can. 10. Look: get out more and try to meet new people. It is not because one has hurt you that all the others will. Think about how many opportunities you’re missing out of fear of being hurt or landing in a relationship more worse than the current one. We hope you have been able to get one or two hints about being played in relationships and what you can do to be free from one. Visit www.uptownerd.com for more interesting reads. |

Philosophy Monday It's been a while since any Philosophy Monday periodical dropped on the site and we apologize for it. However, we decided that we will not end the year without dropping one more philosophical question and our thought on it. As always, feel free to also take your time to ponder on the question a bit and see if you could make anything of it; or at least cogitate on what comes to mind at the thought. Philosophical Question 46: What are you capable of achieving? I think one of the questions that always pops up every now and then in my thoughts is the constant question of what any human is capable of achieving at any given time...if given the time and resources to pursue such. I've weighed it over and over again. No matter how much i think of it, no matter the analysis or examination of all successful ventures i read, one thing always sticks out - time and resources! Basically, we are all capable of more than we think we are. Think about it. Our only interactions with the outside world aside ourselves, is through audio and visual means only. Yet, it's just enough to create a shared universe despite the distances. We are the perfect mimics! The good thing about it is that each individual apart from their natural mimicry skills, also have the ability to defy existing standards and stand apart. But, to do that, time and resources is needed. Basically, to succeed at any thing, time and resources is fundamental. I think it's what the brain needs to link up with its core drives and unleash an untapped part of it. What are you capable of achieving? As i grow older, it becomes more clearer that the only thing you are capable of achieving is what you believe you are capable of achieving. Will you let your current level in life hold you down, or do you believe you have somewhere else more important to be? As a wise man once said, "whether you think you can or you think you cannot, you are right!". Compliments Of The Season From Uptownerd! Uptownerd
